Strange data roaming traffic with data roaming OFF - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

I'm facing a problem with data roaming on my OnePlus 3 with two SIM card:
SIM1 --> Data (ON), Roaming (OFF)
SIM2 --> Data (OFF), Roaming (OFF)
The last 4 days I've been abroad and my operator charged me for roaming data traffic the first 2 days, so I called them explaining that the roaming was OFF and they agreed to give me back the phone credit and suggested to deactivate also the Data (other than the roaming option). I was skeptikal but I gave it a try anyway.
Result: they charged me again for the last two days. Of course this time they refused to give me back the credit because it was the second time. However after a few minutes they called me back telling me that some phones have this problem/bug (galaxy S5 and others) and asked me for the phone brand and model (they gave me back my money also).
I checked the details on the operator website and I found 4 unwanted data connection (one for each day) of exactly 1MB (1048576 bytes). Don't know what to think and I couldn't find anything online.
Does anyone knows if this is a known problem of the OnePlus3 and if it can be fixed?
Thanks

Same issue here. I just found out that the phone connected automatically to the network and downloaded data, even when I was under WiFi at my friend's place.

Hello,
i have the same problem with OP3 / stock OOS 5.0.3, near border i'm randomly charged 0,50 eur per day, because the phone connects to foreign operator with stronger signal and Data roaming option is OFF for both SIM cards !

Roaming

Off to France on Saturday and I'm dreading the automatic connection any tips of making sure my phone won't connect and cost me the earth currently on t mobile UK
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Sure.
Go to settings - wireless and networks - mobile networks - untick the box that says data roaming and your phone will not use data whilst abroad.
Hope this helps.
Rik.
Or just hold down the power putton and choose the bottom option "Mobile Network" and this will completely disable the data connection.

I'm on t-mobile and have just had a great 2 weeks in France. Wherever I went I seemed to get a 'E' connection which was very good and fast enough for Google maps.
Cost me £10 for 50mb over 31 days but you can get 20mb for a fiver to use in 7 days
I use phone for work emails and found the French signal very good. I choose Orange sfr I think which had the best data signal.
Hope this helps
Only guaranteed method to avoid data charges is to call your carrier and ask them to DISABLE roaming on your sim, also to make a record of it on your account.
Even if you do somehow manage to enable data roaming on the phone the sim won't allow it.

Nexus loses Vodafone UK connection...

All
I took delivery of my new SIM free Galaxy Nexus today. Everything appeared to be going well until I tried to make a couple of calls. The call would either connect for three seconds and then drop or drop immediately. After dropping the call the handset indicates that it has no connection to a network. It will also drop any incoming calls and then I lose the connection to Vodafone.
To reconnect to Vodafone I either have to turn airplane mode on then off again or reboot the phone.
When it has the VF connection in the connection status page I see this;
Network - Vodafone Uk
Signal Strength - -95 dBm 9 asu
Mobile Network Type - HSDPA:9
Mobile Network State -Connected
After attempting to make or receive a call;
Network - Unknown
Signal Strength - -113 dBM 0 asu
Mobile Network Type - Unknown:0
Mobile Network State - Disconnected
I called Vodafone and they are sending me a new SIM (I've had this one for many years now). The current old SIM works fine in my old Desire.
Anyone else have these issues or have any advice? Is this a handset issue, SIM or could it be a problem with the VF network?
Ah someone else with this issue! I thought it was just me. I find that the vodafone connection drops and won't reconnect - particularly when I'm driving along. Sometimes it's fine for hours and others it just never returns.
I'd be very be very interested to here if a new SIM fixes the issue, as I too have had this sim for a very long time.
I love the device, but if it doesn't function as a phone I'm seriously considering either changing networks or returning the phone (which I got from phones4u).
My old sim works fine in my nexus S (which my wife has taken over and probably won't give back!)
I am still waiting for the volume bug fix which appears to have a new GSM binary, that may help the issue (or not) - otherwise its a call to phones4u to get me moved networks!
I got the volume fix when I powered up the phone today but that hasn't sorted it. Im off to a mates house now to try his SIM otherwise I may have to send the phone back.
I've posted this up on the Vodafone forum too -> http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Goog...-Signal-3-seconds-into-call/m-p/943023#M12291
Just to update - tried with a mates Vodafone UK sim and it worked fine so its looking like my old school SIM needs to be updated...
Just been to a vodafone shop and got a new sim. Made three consecutive calls. A record. New sim seems to fix it!

I'm on T-Mobile in the US and seem to have this same problem. I had my G2 and G1 with this SIM and never had an issue, but brought it to the Galaxy Nexus and randomly I lose connection and it won't reconnect until I reboot.
Anyone else see this issue?
I had a similar issue with an O2 sim on an SGS2. Replacing the SIM worked for me, though it was only 2 years old. I suppose its inevitable SIMs will fail.
Unfortunately, I got a new SIM card last night and put it in. But it just happened again today. Anyone have any ideas?
Currently I'm using Android Revolution 1.3.1 and Kernel 3.0.1-ga052f63.

[Q] Firnware update and data roaming

Since Tuesday, I am the happy owner of the Note II. I bought the SIM free model from MobiCity and use the 3 UK micro SIM I had in my iPhone (which has gone to ebay )
I installed the firmware update this evening and after rebooting, I am greeted with a roaming screen and a warning that I have no mobile data because data roaming is switched off.
I have a UK SIM and the phone detects my UK location correctly. I read somewhere that there was a bug which had data roaming enabled irrespective of the system settings.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is it possible the fix (if actually there is one) does its job too well?

Help using S3 overseas

I just received my unlocked ATT S3, rooted it, cut my sim card down and setup all my apps etc. Problem is that I am having really sporadic network access issues. I am currently in Afghanistan and using AWCC. I had the same sim card in a Skyrocket and didn't have any issues. I have setup the APN (I pay for unlimited edge internet) and randomly get internet access and network access.
Right now I show 3 bars
Info shows
Network: AF AWCC
Signal Strength -89dBm 12 asu
Mobile Network type: Edge:2
Service State: In Service
When I try to check my balance (*123# dial) It says connection problem or invalid MMI code EDIT: sometimes it goes through and I get my balance.
When I try to make a call it just says dialing then goes to Call Ended after about 30 seconds. Same thing happens when I try to call AWCC customer service at 151 (actually I just got through on the 151 number once)
When I go to Settings/More Settings, Network Operators and try manual settings, about half the time I see the awcc network but it always fails to connect. If I leave it is automatic, it will eventually connect. Right now it is showing AWCC in the top menu bar. Other times it says not registered on the network. FYI AWCC doesn't register the sim card to a specific phone. You just buy the sim card without giving any info about your phone.
Every once in awhile it connects as I received emails on the phone over night. As I am typing this I just got edge connectivity and am online.
So, anyone have any suggestions? Maybe I should try flashing another modem?
Thanks

[Q] insert sim card to access network services

Hi Guys.
So received the phone on Thursday, Friday I did a sim swap from my normal sized sim to a micro sim. I waited the whole day but the phone didn't have any network access.
Today when I woke up I I switched the phone on hoping that everything will be fine, thinking the simswap just hasn't gone through yet, still no network access. I took out the swim from the phone and switched with my ipad, the sim was working in the ipad, and the ipads sim also didnt give the phone network access.
In the top right corner it shows full bars in grey, cant make emergency calls or anyhting.
In the about section of the phone, I have ALL the details present, baseband version is there, kernel version is there.
In Status section, network is unkown, signal strenght is -83 dbm 15 asu, network type unkown, service state is out of service, and the rest is also present.
I thought the phone didn't properly register to a network, so went into settings - wireless networks - more settings - mobile networks, but it gives me a insert sim card message.
The phone is reading the simcard fine because it asked for the PIN when switching on.
When trying to make a call I get, it says "Not registered on network"..
So what am I to do? Vodacom can only pickup the phone and exchange it on Tuesday, so was hoping that this might just be a software issue that can be resolved by a flash.
I have tried resetting / hard resetting the phone numerous times.
Its the Note 2 N7105 LTE Version
Any help would be highly appreciated.
