"No External Storage" - HTC One X

I have an old HTC One X running Android 5.1 (Pacrom), and TWRP recovery.
I think my dad screwed something up yesterday because the phone literally has NO internal storage. It doesn't exist. The phone just isn't registering the internal storage. I can install apps (due to that partitioning) but I can't take pictures, download files, etc.
I need to fix this within the next couple days, as my brother needs this phone.
What do I do? I'm not sure if ADB is working yet — but will that work with the lack of a storage folder?
In the TWRP File browser, there's no /storage or /sdcard but in the phone file browser, there is. It just can't be used. I can't mount storage either.
Any advice?

Maybe try formatting all partitions in TWRP?
If you haven't fixed yet.

Is your phone new layout?
If not then format everything and you are good to go

Can't access/format/mount Internal SD - any suggestions?

I was using the AOKP 8/23 ROM release and did a full wipe EXACTLY like the instructions say before installing the 3rd 9/1 release (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766684). I refrain from updating ROMs and always do a fresh install following ALL instructions. Somehow this last version messed up my internal SD and I can't access my files properly. They are all still in the internal SD, but the phone acts like it has 2 separate partitions. When I connect the phone to the computer, There's only a 7GB empty "partition" and I can't format it. On the phone, Astro shows me my files normally. ES Explorer shows all the files just like Astro. On CWM recovery, I can't mount or format /sdcard at all. It says "error mounting /sdcard." Then I tried installing another ROM (Slim Bean [AOSP] - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1865262) and the error continues. I assume it's not ROM-specific.
I think all I need is to completely format my internal SD, but I can't figure out how to do it on the phone or on the computer. I have backed up all my files and there's nothing important on the phone. Any idea how I can format the internal SD and start all over?

I haven't. I was afraid to do that because I burned 3 Motocrap Atrixes doing that in the past. I was lucky I did it before the 30 days of the first purchase. Since they couldn't even turn it on, they would just give me a new one. The third one didn't burn.
I restored a Nandroid backup with an ICS rom and the computer could see all files on the phone. The phone itself could too. The AOKP Jelly Bean rom I had before worked fine until I updated it. That's when it messed up. Now all JB roms show that problem. I'm hoping this is just a bug and will be worked out eventually, but it sure freaks me out. I don't want to be stuck with ICS just because of a random error.
I went to system settings --> backup and reset to do a factory reset and it couldn't clear my internal SD. The rom would go back to a fresh install like a full wipe, but nothing happened do the storage. Isn't there another way to completely reset the phone?

[Q] Unable to find files internal storage?

Hello Again, I have found a few threads with the same issue but something in the middle is different, this has happened on my Nexus 5 before, and it pissed me off because i never got it resolved.
I want to convert my HTC One M8 ATT to GPE later today, but first i'm on sense with NvROM.
The ROM isn't the issue since it's been working fine for a 2 weeks now, here is the story.
What i did-
Recovery (Wanted to try out CarbonROM)
Flashed LiquidSmooths kernel ontop of Carbon, got "Unfortunately phone has stopped".
Went to recovery again to attempt to flash liquidsmooth only.
E: Unable to mount /data
E: Unable to mount /system
E: Unable to mount /cache
E: Unable to mount /sdcard
E: Wiping /data /system /cache failed!
Now, i rebooted and those errors are non existent i can flash again.
But on LiquidSmooth , The Gallery can not find my Pictures.
The Music app can not find the music anymore.
Whenever i use a File Manager , magically my files are still there.
Anybody got ideas on this one? Thanks.
>Pics related<
Try to connect the phone to a PC, and use Device Manager to format the internal memory. Backup any personal data first, if needed (and if possible).
I've heard that , that causes the eMMc or internal storage to go into Read Only mode?
anyone correct me when i`m totally wrong here.
hasn't this something to do with the so called fused location of your sd-card ?
On my phone the locations of the sdcard is shown different then when i locate them trough recovery or shell.
In android the location is something like: /root/storage/sdcard (internal memory)
the real location in my case was shown in recovery as: /root/storage/emulated/0/
And i think because i had previously installed a cm11 based rom and kernel.
And when i completely wiped my phone for a newly rom, afterwards i still had all my data on my phone, because it didn't wipe the /emulated/0 location.
so all the files are still found with a file manager because the two location i mentioned before are fused. But your apps still has the old location in his settings somewhere..
You can try to do a media rescan so your phone search for new media.... But i believe that is also done when you reboot your phone.
I had that happen to me and I was able to fix it by using the "Format" option in TWRP recovery. That, of course, wipes everything on the device but everything will be mounted correctly and properly again.
Guys, I ended up fixing it.
TWRP format fixes it but i needed a backup. Also first attempt at formatting it on TWRP had issues. E:Can't format , E: Data isn't mounted.
Ended up just going ahead and doing the Google Play Edition Conversion and that fixed the whole issue, Thanks for your time!

so wait, aren't you going to tell us what you mean by it fixed the whole issue? were you able to back up the data first?
I'm having a slightly different (maybe similar) issue.. my at&T m8 was working fine on insertcoin (previously viper/venom) and i decided to try a very stock AT&T debloated rom.
forgot to flash the firmware first, so booted into fastboot, and was going to do that.. but it wouldn't work, gave me an error..
booted back into recovery (TWRP 2.7.0.2) and my internal storage WILL NOT MOUNT. hence, nothing works... I can see microSD files, I can attempt to flash things ,but, due to the internal "sd" (not my microsd, just using old fashioned android terminology) not mounting, every operation fails. interestingly, I can mount / (root partition) and it has the correct structure, and even some vestiges of my files.. when i say mount, i mean in recovery on the device.. not on a computer via USB.
any ideas? i'm stuck
I know i can probably format the /media/data blahblah partition (the internal storage) but I have very important photographs of my best friend's wedding and my children's recent visit to their grandparents'.. so i really really want to restore those files.. I do this kind of thing (file forensics) on OSX, windows, and some linux drives, all the time at work.. I just don't know how to access the storage on an android phone, in order to run the forensics scans etc.
thanks!!

Sorry, but what i did was different, and MIGHT factory reset your internal storage, i can't verify 100%.
You can do two things,
Either flash the RUU
for 4.4.3 STOCK HTC [ATT]
or Flash Google Play edition RUU and revert back to sense which will fix it too.

[Q] Odd TWRP Issue

Hi all. I am a serious noob to certain rooting stuff so sorry if this post sounds weird. I have a HTC one M8 rooted with Cyanogenmod. Its a great phone, but one thing i noticed after making a nandroid backup of my CM rom was that apparently in recovery mode my TWRP install, and restore does not see zip files. I later found out that TWRP is defaulting on the install and recover screens to my root folder which has none of my backups. Essentially, I can't get into the traditional internal storage folder which has all my zip files and downloads. Is there any way I can get around it and access my traditional internal storage again? I should note that there is nothing really wrong with the phone, I can boot into it and it works fine. I simply cannot access my traditional storage though in recovery.

Wait. Are you using TWRP to try to restore a CWM backup? You can't do that. They are non-compatible.
EDIT: sorry I misread what you posted. You can direct TWRP to either internal or external sd by cliucking wher it says "storage: internal/external" at the top when you are in recovery.
thanks but..
thanks but the issue is twrp says my internal storage is 0mb. I will double check, but i should note that i am not having a deleted OS issue that other people with 0mb storage problems have. My phone is fine its just the storage that acts works ok TWRP recovery

TWRP has some bug where it can't mount internal storage. Try to re-install TWRP, and the latest version, and see if that helps.
Its seems your right about TWRP having a bug as I just went into recovery and I could freely access all the internal storage files and see all my backups.

Phone not reading internal storage

I performed a wipe via recovery today, and now my phone won't read the data within Internal Storage. The wipe DID NOT delete pictures and other media files, and the "storage" page in Settings still reports that 21.81 GB of space are occupied. However, I can't access my media files. If I navigate to the "emulated" folder using a file manager, it just says it's empty. Apps can't properly utilize my internal storage.
I know that the files and whatnot are still there for several reasons. One, like I said, my phone still reports over 21 GB being used. Two, if I go into my recovery as if I was to flash a .zip, I can explore my internal storage and all the files are still there. My ROM just cannot read them. I'm on stock rooted and debloated 5.0.2. Please help!

Read and follow the two commands in the second post of my GPE thread...problem solved.

Question Moto g40 fusion internal storage problem help me please

when first time I flashed PE 12 rom, Twrp showed the internal storage after wiping and the storage was like 53GB after that I found Aosp 13 rom and wanna flash that to try, after booting into twrp the problem has started the internal storage shown 0mb and tried to format, successful but it only showing 48GB storage only not 53GB some part are missing and in the windows explorer it wont show up with MTP enabled and I tried to repair it showing some error while doing it system ext error, vendor error. I think the partition got some issue with it I dont know how to fix it. I flashed the rom using adb sideload only and that it also not worked properly for me, I lost some storage space in my internal storage now only 48gb available and can't able to flash properly, mount internal storage not working when connected to the computer now I can't able to fully wipe the interanl storage to flash the rom properly. Is there any way to fully format and repair to fix the partition error and to get the full max internal storage capacity.

Where does it show 0MB? In TWRP or the OS itself? If it's in TWRP, I think the problem is your storage is encrypted. So...it can't be read. Which is normal.
It shows the same on my G60. I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think there's anything wrong with your internal storage.
If you want, you can go to TWRP > Wipe > Advanced Wipe, select Internal Storage. You might need to reflash the ROM after that, so you can boot back into the OS.
Personally, I wouldn't mess with these options too much. If it's not a real problem, I wouldn't worry about it.
You can also try a "Repair or Change File System".
I don't know about the MTP thing... Sounds like a driver issue.

in Twrp 0MB,
My internal storage is now only 48gb free after wiping everything was there more like 53gb something I remember.
MTP is media transfer portability to PC didn't work while in Twrp, was working before not now ,
I have tried repair, file system change.
I just wanna know one thing that how much free space left in the 64gb variant after wiping everything in the internal storage.

I don't know man... Some ROMs can take more space than others, which means you will have less space available for you. But I'm not sure I understand where you're getting that information from. Where is that displayed.
Also, I don't know about using MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) from Recovery. If you know it used to work before...then I don't know. I never tried it from Recovery.

I can't. I don't have one... But maybe someone else with the same device can confirm.
