Nexus 10 : In Action

Most of you might have already seen this video somewhere.
I saw it recently and was impressed.
What do you think about the Nexus 10 ?

What a stupid video...
You can hardly say it's "in action"
that's like showing a video of someone starting a car and saying it's "in action"

The border around the screen makes it look weird..

I'm worried they're getting rid of the tablet UI we like so much.

I love the phone ui on a tablet, but hopefully they do keep the tablet ui for those who do like it. That's what makes Android great, it's customizable for almost anybody.

Maybe it's just beta software and DPI related. No Android tablet has had that dense a display before (pretty sure its around the 300 mark). If you mess with the DPI on existing android tabs the UI switches to Nexus 7 style (tested on my XOOM).

Well, it's all open-source. A dev who understands it well enough could probably program the old tablet UI back in.

Best under £100 device

My HTC has died and due to funds I am limited to something under £100 for now. I'd like a screen 4.7 or above, decent resolution and pretty all much the usual goodies for a daily phone use, ie 4g, bluetooth, tethering etc. Of course I am not expecting HTC 10 quality!!! But most budget phones are usually 1gb ram which can make operation a bit sticky.
I've looked at the Chinese phones (Doogee, Cubot etc) which seem to offer a lot for the money, some makes me think it is likely good marketing! I am also worried about the roms installed on them, whether they contain other unwelcome apps, does google play work like a normal Android.

Take a look at the Doogee Y6. I bought it for my daughter. Nice phone and working out of the box.

Fitness Devices - What Works Well With The HTC 10?

Does anybody have any recommendations on fitness wearables to pair with the HTC 10?
So far, all I have found is the Under Armor Band, and the HealthBox... and a couple of Garmin devices.
On Sprint, rooted stock Nougat, if that matters.

That looks like a nice device/watch. Long way from the Galaxy Gear I had with my Note 2!

I have a Fitbit and it works fine. No issues at all.

Well... I decided on a Garmin Vivosmart HR. Went basic. Haven't really worn a watch in years and I thought I'd like to stay more on the small and basic side. ASUS does seem to have some good devices they put out from different reviews I've read. My company is basically paying for it through lower insurance rates, more HSA money, and gift cards so starting out with something like this would be OK, then get another one more advanced like the ASUS if I really liked this and wanted something more.

Do I need to upgrade my 5x? (how common is bootlooping?)

Both myself and Gf have 5x's.
So far no issues, but wondering if it is just a matter of time before bootlooping.
We are on fi and like it and want to stay there ($$).
They have a trade in program and a sale for the moto4x till Jan 4th.
Don't want a new phone if I don't have to, but will if it's highly likely our 5x's will fail.
Suggestions?

I've seen LG were still manufacturing the Nexus 5x until 2/2017, well after they knew the device had problems. It's not clear if they changed anything in the manufacturing or just kept churning out the duds. I'm tempted to buy one of the newer 2/2017 versions if they fixed the problem.

My latest 5x is suddenly bootlooping. Locked BL and OEM Unlock disabled.

mine is new from 08/2016 and no bootloop is seen.. unnlocked bootloader and I did played with some roms..

I was on Project FI until I found MintSim... but to answer the question, your 5X's are probably fine unless you really want to upgrade.
Have you updated to Oreo 8.1 yet? It works pretty well on the 5X.

I got mine in October 2015 and it's still running fine. And I did flash the hell out of mine. I guess it's lasted so long so far that I'm fine. Most problems start occurring a lot earlier after production is what I've read.

How common?
I've bought 5 Nexus 5x for family and friends , 3 of them got boot loop of death.
You can kind of "Fix" it though.

I have mine since july '16. Still running fine. From the beginning with thermal throttle tweak.

The 5X has a fundamental problem. Either the board level reliability from temperature cycling or an IC flaw is the culprit. No 5X is safe! Do not buy one.

After reading around it appears there has been no modification of the phone design or manufacture over the years. Hence, they are all affected eventually. I agree, avoid. Which is why I ordered the Moto x4. Too bad, cuz I liked the 5X better but I can't be dealing with a dead phone after 1 year.

Micro stutter while browsing

Just picked this tablet up today and set it all up.
It seems to be suffering with really annoying micro stutter while scrolling up and down in the web browser.
It’s not smooth at all compared to my 2 year old iPad Pro.
It looks like it’s struggling with the graphics or something.
I have noticed it does the same in other areas as well.
Any ideas at all, before it goes back.

I haven't noticed this or any isdues and I've been using an iPad pro 10.5 for 10 months. I am looking forward to root for this device though because I think it could still run better with some tweaking

Tried turning it off and on again, but no change.

Try factory resetting. Play store is always a bit stuttery even on the pixel 2

Tried a factory reset, did not install any apps just loaded up the Samsung browser and it was still stuttering bad so I returned it in the end.
I could not solve the issue.

I guess this is the same as the croocked scrolling.
I noticed this too, every now and then.
Not sure yet if I should keep it...

I'm wondering too but I don't want another iPad cause of the awful customer service. The only other android option is the Huawei medipad m5 10.8". It's suppose to be a good tablet for the price but not as good as the Samsung. So kinda stuck lol

Suxx. I honestly thinking about the 2017 Amazon 10" it's cheap, plastic and so on.. , but not sure if the ~600€ extra for an Galaxy Tab does justify it. If you know what I mean.

Its definitely the more premium device . I'm fortunate I got 100 quid off and the keyboard case free which I'm going to sell. If it wasn't for that I would be doubting even more the price. I think at 599 it should have the SD 845 and atleast 6gb of ram...I think it would feel more for the price. Don't get me wrong it's still powerful and I'm finding it quick and smooth and we can get more out of it once twrp etc comes to it.
With the SD835, they should have stuck in 6gb or ram , 128gb of storage and priced it max at 499

I don't care that much about CPU and RAM I guess the current specs are decent.
What fu*ks me up is that poor scrolling experience. I noticed it 5 minutes after unpacking.
I will check if the Amazon device can be flashed with LineageOS. I'm also checking Apple, which I usually avoid

To be fair i dont think the wavey scrolling is Samsung's fault. I've seen it on multiple android device in landscape or portrait on amoled and ips/lcd screens. Guess the bigger the screen the more noticeable it is.
The landscape/protrait inconsistencies annoy me too. Even with Samsung's own settings and apps

Funny fact, my Amazon 7" 60€ Device got this too, with custom ROM and without.
I always thought it's the poor CPU.

I found the newest iPad 9.7 2018 edition has slight wavey scrolling when you look for it. Maybe we're looking for it too much lol

Agree, issue is, once you notice it, you will always see it ;(

I know what you mean. I think any new expensive device you notice more. I'm not finding it to bad when I do occasionally use it in portrait
