Snapchat Drain tips? - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Snapchat is very laggy and also drains my batter like no other app. Any tips other than uninstalling it -.-?

get cyanogenmod, go into privacy guard, and disable everything u don't need (keep awake, location, contacts, etc)\
i mainly suggest to disable keep awake cause that drains your battery really quickly
you can also get greenify to hibernate snapchat when you're not using it, but that has drawbacks like you might not receive notifications (there are workarounds)

fire OS using most the battery, new update to blame?

The date I noticed my battery issues coincides with when the update went live. I've tried tinkering as much as I can to disable wake lock permissions in all sorts of apps and using wake lock detector, but I can't really find the culprit.
I'm rooted, on 4.6.3. Is there a way to turn off the OTA check, or fool it into thinking I have 4.6.3.
Is it something else? I have a lot of apps, but the only thing wake lock can tell me about the sheer number of wakes is google play services, which has had it's permission to wake disabled but still is somehow the cause. That and system are about equal. Awake time is 91% since my last full charge and unplug. Not good.
Thanks for any help.
Just to maybe assist you in finding the culprit I'm on 4.6.3 with google apps but no root. I've not experienced any wake locks. Perhaps clearing Google's cache and data?
Sorry I meant I was on 4.6.1 still. Will clear data and see.

Probably one of those glitches that can be solved by a reboot. However, you can disable updates using hdxposed module for xposed if you want.
Done both of those things plus much more. Anyone else having this issue?
try taking a titanium backup of everything and then factory reset.. with everything backed up to your PC. then root and start restoring everything gradually.. start by social apps and call log and messages.. then your essential apps.. and see.. then add the rest of the apps bit by bit till you find the offending application or maybe something just got screwed will be fixed when the data clears..
just make sure there is nothing out of the norm in your essential apps, meaning they are all tried and tested by everyone.. facebook, whatsapp, keep, launcher.. that stuff. and also make sure in these apps to limit their ability to check every X minutes as they can really drain your battery.
I've disabled wakelock on anything that has reported to use it by wake lock detector that I don't absolutely need to have it. I've uninstalled any non-essential apps. I've done too much tinkering and have too much important app data to risk doing a reset when it may not work.
I need a way to actually get to the bottom of it first.
Why is google play services waking the phone 2000+ times per day? Wake lock detector says the phone has been awake 5 hours out of 10, but then the list of times for each app only adds up to 20 minutes. How do I find out what was keeping it awake the rest of the time?
Possibly some kind of location based frippery. Try removing location access from troublesome app. And turn off auto sync if it's on
Location services are completely disabled. Auto sync is off. Both have been since this started happening.
Used app quarantine to disable almost every app I put on here, and Fire OS is still 51%.
Possible culprits, though I'm not sure if I find it likely: Ultimate dynamic navbar, lightning chat, foscam viewer, google apps, xposed mods (have a few). greenify (that would be ironic), flixter, es file explorer, buildprop editor, calculator, jellybean keyboard, multi timer, skana battery alerts, nova launcher, power toggles, slacker radio, bank app, super user, terminal emulator, outlook, wakelock detector.
Get better battery stats from xda, it gives a better breakdown of wake locks.
Alright what should I look for in there?
Ok here is what I believe I have found out, using network log along with better battery stats.
The phone is waking up constantly due to netbios pings (I know not technically pings), from various computers on my network, mostly my main PC. I don't know why it's doing this. Could be one of many background processes. In my opinion, it shouldn't matter. The phone shouldn't be that stupid.
I was able to... I think, mitigate a lot of this by doing a few things.
The first is editing qcom's ini inside etc/wifi so that if it says offload, I put a 0, I assume it's offloading to the cpu, which causes it to wake for pointless crap. The second thing I did was re-enable optimized wifi. This is probably already on, on everyone else's phone. I turned it off because I was trying to figure out how to tether while connected to a vpn through the phone. Still can't get that to work. And I know how to, because I did it on my nexus prime, but something in the fire OS is f'ing that method up (iptable configs).
I'm considering seeking an app to turn off wifi when the phone sleeps, because better battery shows wifi on 100%, and even with the changes above, I was still responding to some netbios pings in the network (about 1/5th as many). I imagine most networks will have noise like this.
However, even after all this, fire OS is still the main battery draw. Better Battery doesn't account for all the wake time, not even by half.
For now I've put enough time into this.

Doze feature uses about 8% battery in 9 hrs, what to do?

Guys, it looks like my doze feature does not do a good job. What do you guys think I can do to improve it. I don't have any facebook app or snapchat only bluetooth is on and wifi . Under battery stats only OS services are listed and lookout 1%. Any suggestions?
Which services do you have running in the background? Those would be the usual suspects. In Android 6.0 you can see them in Developer Options > Running Services.

under battery stats I had Bluetooth, android os, android system, google services, phone idle and lookout. I have bunch more in the developer menu. Should I start uninstalling some of them? looks like google goggles , gas buddy, rocket player, light manager, swiftkey , battery saver have been running for a while.

Anything that runs in the background as a service can wake the phone during Doze. Some of them might not be necessary and can be closed, but just swiping certain apps away doesn't always mean they close if they choose to run as a service.
Process of elimination would be a good way to determine which might be causing issues. Sometimes there's a setting within the app (notification manager, etc.) that allows it to run in the background and that can be disabled without removing the app entirely. This is especially true for games that like to notify you of random events.
Another way to see what has been eating RAM and processes recently is the Settings > Memory tab. Last 3 hours (set to max usage instead of average) is often surprising to see how many apps chose to do some background stuff despite me never even using them in days.

H815 Best Stock Rom? Which one should i flash?

Hello there, I'm using android 5.1 v10d version right now. But it feels my battery drains so quickly. I'm wondering which one is the best for daily usage. Looking for performance here.
Which kdz should i flash guys?
I don't think the ROM is your issue. I'm on Stock and consistently get over 4 hours SOT + 20 hours standby doing all manner of things.
Here are the things I've done. You'll have to look around XDA/Google if you're not familiar with some of these things:
Find out what's draining your battery with BetterBatteryStats and Amplify.
Disable logging you don't need.
Disable Wi-Fi scanning under location settings.
Freeze/Remove apps you don't need.
Greenify background apps you don't use frequently.
Use Greenify's aggressive doze, shallow hibernation and wake-up coalescing.
Disable unnecessary broadcast receivers for apps using Android Tools.
Choose a better CPU/GPU governor using EX Kernel Manager.
Freeze Facebook/Messenger/Snapchat using the 'App Quarantine Pro' folders widget. In one tap, you can unfreeze and launch these. Then quickly freeze them again right from your home screen. Don't do this if you open the frequently and need the notifications. In such case, try the Facebook lite apps.
Use the Push Notifications Fixer app to manage how often gcm push notification checks are made on wifi and data.
Use Lux Auto brightness to better manage your brightness. I have the smart profile running dynamically and it works perfectly. The stock LG auto brightness is too low for me but I'll end up keeping it too high all the time if manually set.
Don't swipe apps from recents too often.

Hi! Thank you for your help i do those constantly. I just want to make sure if my firmware version is the solid one. I mean if there are another options for better performance i would like to give them a try.
but LP its better at battery if you plan to go on MM.

msm_hsic_host - any solutions?

Since resetting my phone and coming up to the latest 6.0.1, my phone's battery life has been terrible. I can unplug it and leave it sitting all day with minimal interaction, and I'll have less than 50% left. This morning, I went through the process of installing BBS, and the only thing that is keeping my phone from deep sleep like 99% of the time is the msm_hsic_wakelock. My phone has very little installed on it. I disabled all bloat apps, but didn't just tell PDP to disable all bloat as that usually leads to issues. Other than that, I have installed authy, the rsa app required for my job, facebook, greenify, liftmaster, and the ring app. None of these are registering in BBS at all.
I looked around the internet, and can't find anything that has a solution for this wakelock. Any way to kill it off? Do I need to go back to 5.1.1? Is this a 6.0.1 issue?
Thanks

Battery drain by Google..

Google is running in background and its Max battery drain app.. in the screenshot, i selected put app sleep when not in use, but still its active for 13+ hours in background.. how to fix it..
For me google play services keep running in the background.
Could you please share a pic of your entire battery drainage from the apps?
I disabled it (google app, not play services) since day one, along with other annoying pests via ccswe and package disabler pro, both complement each other perfectly, of course there is the ADB commands method, but I preffer the apps I mentioned, as they provide very useful widgets to enable/disable problematic apps as google, playstore, updates, chrome, etc, you can even disable services within the apps, to avoid background data access or runnig on boot

Firstly,
Look at my Google usage, screenshot
9 hrs background and only 0.1 % usage..!
So even if your Google is enabled in background
it should only take a minimum % eg 1 % ..?
So i would say that some settings in your
Google..?
that is enabled, eg syncing..... etc
I don't know all the tasks connected to Google.
I would rather cross check with battery
apps eg Betterbatterystats, Gsam battery monitor,
Wakelock detector lite etc
to pinpoint reason, than try and restrict Google.
Bottom line,
If you don't know what to do and you are desperate,
i would then factory reset device.
Should solve the problem..... hopefully.!
Good luck.

Thanks for your suggestions.
I don't want to do factory reset. I will try with other options first.

Same happened to me. What I did was to delete Data from Play services app, then I deleted cache from phone an voila. I have all sync and functional.
Ps. I charge my phone to 90% and I can get 5-6 SOT at 30% left everyday.
The issue op mentioned is not about google play services, it is about the google app instead I think
The problem is I don't think any batter stat apps can get low enough level stats to indicate what is using the Google app in the background to determine what is causing the drain. Usually, the culprit is an app frequently using location service (your GPS) to check your location which I believe the Android location service coordinates for apps other than the native Android/Google apps are obtained through the Google app in the background. That latter point is purely a guess because as we all know the Google app is a "multipurpose" app and you can't see detailed enough battery usage to determine what function of the app is being used that causes battery drain.
On my S10 5G, for the first 2 weeks I've used it, Google never was in the top 5, taking like 1-2% over the course of a day. Then seemingly all the sudden, it was #1, consuming like close to 1% an hour in the background. So I think, what did I change recently? I enabled Google Discover, but set the option to mae it update less fequently (6 hours) to reduce battery (the option actually says this will reduce battery usage). It didn't make a difference. So I disabled Google Discover and installed Google News instead. My Google app battery usage is lower now. About 0.9% per hour (all background usage of course). I think for most people that's good, but not when you were used to it being more like 0.1-0.2% an hour before.
I think the bottom line is if you want to use more features on your phone you have to live with a bump in battery usage. The 4500 mAh battery on my S10 5G lasts me abotu 1.5 days. LOL. But I don't play games or check Facebook/Instragram all day. Just a few texts, weather alerts, maybe an hour or two of browsing. Mabe an hour total of talk time. So relative to other people I should be less concerned if my phone is lasting well over a day on a charge, actually close to 2 days many times. I know a lot of other more "frequent users" (probably a lot of people younger than myself) that are on social media a lot and or listening to music/watching videos would kill to have their phones last 20-48 hours without having to charge.
Still, I keep an eye on things and it bugs me Google has jumped up. A great app to use is Accubattery and monitor the "SCREEN OFF" discharge rate. You're not actively using apps when the sceen is off so this gives you a good idea of your total background battery usage. You can make changes to settings, charge your for for a while, and let several hours pass, then check the screen off discharge rate and compare it to other discharge periods before you made the settings to determine if the changes you made had much of an effect.
Of course background usage isn't going to be 100% consistent, so the longer you measure the better, as if you look at it over like a 1 hour period, it could be certain apps were just more or less active during that particular hour. But if you compare like half day or more (6+ hour) periods to previous periods, you can get a good gauge if apps setting changes or newly installed apps are eating more battery in the background.
I disable Google feedfack, all their data collecting junk and their data backup too. Google is a pig.
Some blocked Google apks like Playstore are enabled as needed.
Even when Framework and Google Transport are blocked it's sometimes periodically necessary to clear their data to get them from using excessive cpu cycles.
Battery Tracker reports Google Framework running when AOD is on but it's likely misreading as long as battery draw remains at around 1%@hour while phone is screen off.
I'm running on Pie... who knows what Q will do.
Most likely make a bigger mess.
