Mi Max hydrogen plus chromebook - Xiaomi Mi Max Questions & Answers

Is there any way to unlock bootloader/root/flash roms? It's a c100p running chrome os and android marshmallow. I did have crouton on as well until recently but I wiped my chromebook as the SSD drive was getting a bit full. I suppose I could put it back on again if there is no other way round it.
Cheers.

Anyone? A simple yay or nay is all that's needed so I know not to hold out and to go put crouton back on my laptop.

Another CM10 question...AFT? I can't connect...

Okay, one other curious question...On CM10 7/29 build...is anyone getting Android File Transfer to work? Yes, I'm on a Mac, but it was working fine before, granted I had to call it a camera instead of MTP, but it worked just fine. Now that I got a 32GB SD, I'm wanting to transfer everything over, but now when I plug it in, I get nothing. Any ideas?
So, I've flashed all the roms on my SD card...CM9, CM10, Ultimatum, AOKP, now I'm on Paranoid Android(liking this one best because it's a mix of CM10 with more stuff working so far..) but anyway. I noticed on all of the JB-based roms, Android File Transfer no longer works. This wouldn't be an issue because I could flash Ultimatum, which is ICS-based, right? Still doesn't work. I've read around and some people say Samsung updated something that broke AFT for mac...but I'm just not sure. I just got a new 32GB SD, so I want to move the stuff from my 8GB to this one...but using wireless solutions will take hours on end...and I'm not even sure which one of these works the best. Any ideas?
I believe the file transfer on android does not like to work with cm10 on this phone and its not an issue that seems too high on the devs list because of the few amount of mac users. Really sucks but meh, honestly if i want to transfer stuff i boot up windows through bootcamp and do my thing
My suggestion is, flash a stock based rom and just move the majority of the stuff using mac and then for smaller/more periodic stuff after that you could just use a wireless transfer thing. Because for me, after my initial sync of all my music i usually only sync photos or a few songs at a time so wireless syncing wouldn't be too big of an issue.
Indeed, I found a workaround to use CyberDuck to transfer stuff...of course, my first big transfer is going to take hours, which sucks---I wish they would look at this issue...even if Mac users are the minority, that's a pretty big issue-Normally I wouldn't have issue with either dual boot or Parallels, but I'm broke at the moment so I'm running a G5 iMac. While it runs, you can imagine how slow it can get, since this is pre-aluminum models... I tried flashing a stock-based rom (Ultimatum) and it still didn't work. I've heard that a Samsung minor update might have broken it, but I didn't get any OTA updates. I'm just glad CyberDuck/SSHDroid let it work just like my jailbroken iPhone works with CyberDuck the same way, so I'm familiar with it. I guess I'll need to go back around the forums I was searching for answers on and post a tutorial on using CyberDuck with the S3.

Stuck in Nexus 7 (2013) bootloader loop.

Help! I have been quite desperate for some time. My Nexus 7 (2013) WiFi 32 gb crashed one day and since it never went much further than the Google logo screen. I can access bootloader, but all 4 actions lead to nothing else. I can't even get that "No command". I don't even care about my files. I just want to be able to use it. I tried using toolkit and that WugFresh thingy - didn't do anything. I have driver installed and it seems to recognize my device, but as soon as I try to unlock my device, a screen appears on my nexus asking weather I really want to do that and it will erase my data and so on... So I press Yes and it stays there. Toolkit doesn't do anything new too. I have been waiting for several minutes, but it doesn't work. Can anybody help me? What could be the problem? I don't want to even bother Asus or Google as they will end up throwing myself between them. This tablet was amazing... and then it broke. Is there anything else I can do or try? I know the problem is not in the USB connection so don't even offer me that option! Have tried several ports and even bought a new cable. I am also in denial that it could be related to hardware. It worked alright and then it crashed. Can't remeber details as it was a few months ago. I haven't dropped it or harmed in any other way.
Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum for more relevant answers.

If you can access the bootloader, try flashing a system.img in fastboot. If that doesn't work, then I suspect you have a hardware issue. Did you buy it from Google Play? Is it still under warranty? If so, call Google. They have amazing customer service.

Anyone copied from N6P/N5X on 7.1.1 beta to the Pixel on setup?

I'm wondering if anyone who installed the dev preview of 7.1.1 on the 2015 Nexuses tried setting up their new Pixel by copying data with a cable. I'm doing it with 7.0 on my N6P, but it doesn't appear to be different than the old proximity method that came out with M, that is, it doesn't copy a lot of stuff like downloads and app data. I was hoping that with N and with this new cable method finally one could seamlessly transfer from one phone to another, but it isn't the case here, so wondering if having 7.1.x on the old phone makes any difference.

I have 7.1.1 on my 5X. Can't get the initial setup/transfer to work whether I try to use the cable or cloud. "Google Play Services has stopped working" comes up just after I hit "copy" on the old phone, or when I select the 5X backup in the WiFi version, and basically brings me back to the beginning of the process. Not sure why it's happening, spent hours on the phone with Google support last night and didn't get anywhere, other than them offering me a replacement phone. That said, the support person couldn't even send me an RMA link that didn't give a "Internal Server Error" no matter what device or network I used... Anyway I doubt my particular issue is a 7.1.1 issue?

Accidentally uninstalled Skype, how can I get it back?

Hello!
I have Nokia Lumia 820 and I've managed to update to Windows 10 Mobile v.1511. I've accidentally uninstalled Skype only to figure out, that I can't download it from the Store anymore, since its one of the integrated apps. What can I do, so I can get it back? Any ideas will be appreciated, since I need Skype and it was one of the main reasons I decided to move to Windows 10.
A hard reset should restore all default apps - someone else might know a less drastic way to get it back (though if you've only just upgraded to W10M you might not mind doing another hard reset as you should do one following the upgrade from 8.1 anyway).
I've managed to get Skype back by switching to Win10 Anniversary edition. Thanks for the help!

Question Quick Switch Adapter

Can anyone tell me details of what can be transferred from an old phone to a new P6P using the provided quick switch adapter? Can it transfer all apps and their data or only the ones with Google backup capability?
Thanks in advance!
The "ordinary" transfer won't restore your app settings, like your passwords/logins/in-app data.
Google One Backup is supposed to do that, even though it never worked for me. In the end I had to use swiftbackup whilst having root to have a decent backup/transfer experience.

There is some sort of auto-login system that some apps support, so Google logs you in automatically into the app once you first open them after transfering all your stuff, but that has nothing to do with the transfer/backup. Sadly, only very few apps support that.

Thank you, that's what I was afraid of. I can't believe that Google doesn't want to create a proper backup or transfer solution. So bad. I guess SwiftBackup it is...

Been into android since the T-Mobile G1 days and I'm a firm believer in setting up a new phone from scratch. Did my wifes from her OnePlus 7 Pro and the screen would freeze every 4-6 hors. Did a FDR and it's been running great for the last 3 days. Your always going to get bits and pieces from the last OS that don't belong on your new OS when transferring from another phone.

This makes more and more sense now a days!
Google wants to sell the cloud as much as possible. I restore GoogleOne backups from the cloud and I'm usually satisfied with the results.
I used to start from scratch but I stopped at some point several years ago. I just want my phone to work the way I'm used to. I don't use the stock launcher anyway, I use Nova Launcher Prime. Later on, I integrate elements from the new Android version and widgets/capabilities into my current Nova setup.
I never used the quick switch adapter and Google's transfer tool. I always root my phone and use Titanium Backup to restore my apps. Although, on Android 12, I think I'm gonna go for Swift Backup which I've heard good things about!
I'm still using my 4 XL for now, not sure if I want to jump on the 6 Pro with an unofficial alpha version of Magisk :/

I'd advise you to wait at least for the first or second rollout of bug fixes if you are keen on root, as of now there are a lot of software quirks that might be firmware related; if you root now, upgrading to the next monthly update might be a nightmare. As far as I can see right now, every successful root requires a full factory reset (not the bootloader unlock reset!). And every "update" will aswell (maybe the community will find a way around that, but we don't know right now).

100% on board with this. Whenever I clean flash (new phone or new OS update) I start from scratch. Download or sideload all my apps anew. Takes several hours to set up but well worth it in the long run.

Yeah, I've been reading as much as I can about root and it's not super fun right now. It remains to be seen if we can update monthly without wiping. Otherwise, that would be a MAJOR pita.
I'm gonna be traveling in about 2 weeks and I was hoping to bring my 6 Pro with me. My 4 XL is perfectly fine but not sure the battery will last while traveling. We'll see.
