Hey gang,
I bought a used Droid Inc. It has a good ESN with Verizon, but the previous owner had it flashed to Cricket to save money on his monthly bill. I confirmed the ESN is good with Verizon.
These are my attempts thus far to return the phone to the Verizon network:
I reloaded the stock 2.2 software, but it was still on Crickets towers.
Next, I placed a Verizon PRL file (found online, but not sure if it is the right one for this phone) on my SD card, dialed ##775# then 000000 and installed the new PRL.
The phone is now on Verizon's network, but It doesn't turn on 3G data at all.
I tried *228, *22890, *22891, *22899, etc.to update the PRL... but each time it tried the "Programming" part would always end the call after about 10 seconds with a voice message stating my phone could not be programmed.
NOTE: I have not activated the phone yet, so it is without service. Local Wifi only. That shouldn't matter... but thought I would supply all available info =)
Can anyone supply me with a good PRL file for the Droid Incredible?
... or just point me in the right direction
Thnx,
Syn
This happened with my moms phone, you have to manually activate it, I don't quite remember how but give Verizon a call about it.
Sent from God, who uses OMGB-6.
LOL, if you have activated the phone yet....... no 3G... haha
Had the exact problem. I activated on my line and had no 3g and took to verizon store and nobody there could figure it out so the manager overnighted new a brand new one!! Just do that!!

one time on my eris I downloaded a 3g toggle and left it off when deleted it and couldnt get 3g back til i re-downlaoded the app left it to on and deleted it. FWIW
updating to verizon's PRL OTA is *228, opt 2.
PRL update wont pass if the phone isnt activated on the network.. you must activate the ESN with VZW and do an OTA *228 opt 1. If that fails, a manual program is required, and VZW can help you with that over the phone..
(...i kinda work for verizon? but this isn't private info or anything..)
Try this - should be able to d/l a prl & install before activation.

I just got off the phone trying to troubleshoot voice dropouts on my Galaxy Nexus CDMA and the Verizon rep told me that on a device with a sim card such as the Galaxy Nexus that you should never dial *228. Is this true? Just curious as to why.
that's correct
the SIM is the authorization to the network and automatically updates the PRL to the phone.

Technically, the PRL is on the SIM (it's call the MNC list on GSM-based systems like LTE) so doing a *228 will overwrite the GSM MNC list on the SIM with a CDMA PRL. Fortunately, MNCL and PRL are pretty much the same thing, so the phone will still work, but overwritting the MNCL will apparently cause some kind of problem down the line, which is why they disable you from dialing it directly.
Yeah, I just had to call them about this yesterday because I just got my wife a Rezound and we live in an "Extended Network" area where we connect to Bluegrass Cellular towers. She has no data connection out there and I wanted to see if they could update the PRL somehow while we were outside of the Verizon network, but they couldn't help me out. She told me to take the phone to a Verizon coverage area (30 mins away for me ), pull the battery, pull the SIM card, re-insert the SIM card, then re-insert the battery and boot the phone back up. That's the only way she said you can force a PRL update. I asked about *228 and she explicitly told me to not dial that as it could mess up the SIM card.
Doesn't make sense to me because if the battery is pulled out, how would the phone know that the SIM card was pulled out and/or inserted? How would that trigger a PRL update as opposed to just doing a battery pull and rebooting the phone without touching the SIM card?
I have heard that one can take one PRL from another phone and place on another phone in order to pick up different data services, such as if I had a Verizion phone and I'm in an 1x coverage area but can pick up 3G from another carrier if I only change the PRL to there carrier's PRL. If anyone has any info on this please let me know.
This does not work on lk8 and later updates. see this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2042277 to add back prl write function.
I got corp prl 24006 unzipped it, renamed it test.prl, put it on my internal card. Dial ##data# then click on write prl and write prl again, phone should reboot with 24006 prl. This only works on touchwhiz. I set it to automatic network and made sure I have roaming guard off.
I get no signal with out my airave here, which doesnt make sense because the samsung intercept gets 2-3 bars without it. Our cable goes out every now and then so I dont want to be stuck with out a phone. This prl allows you to roam on other carriers.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747257 link for prl 24006 post 160. if you click on 24006 (the top one) it will bring you to post 160.
If you ever update your prl in the future it will wipe out this one and you will have to redo the install on the dialer.
I took the update on my phone and it restored my old prl, so I had to reinstall it. If you left the file on your sd card just start at the dialer directions.
I cant take credit for any of this info, other than being the first one to try it on the note 2.

Renamed it TEST.prl it accepted /rebooted and shows 24006 as the prl but im not roaming still. Are you forcing it to room?
I set it to automatic network and made sure under roaming that all boxes were checked. this seems to be backwards from the GS3. once all boxes were checked I have 3 bars.
The stock PRL on these phones is 55008... wouldn't it be bad to go to a PRL designed for a different phone not to mention with a lower number?
Its not for a different phone, its for a corporate account. Corporate prls are different. IT will not ruin your phone. It allows you to roam on other carriers.
I've attempted to locate the posting you linked to your message, unfortuanetly it is not longer there, is there another location for this corp prl?

I would assume the big difference in the PRL numbers is because the Galaxy Note 2 has GSM bands as well. Does Sprint allow roaming on At&t towers?

Even if the Sprint Note 2 does still have GSM active, we couldn't roam on GSM networks because the phone doesn't have a SIM, nor does it have a place to put a SIM. No SIM no GSM access.

It has an embedded SIM. But still, it's not setup to roam on GSM in the US.

This -^
It only allows for roaming on preferred carriers outside of the US.
A little tidbit on PRLs guys:
1. Please...please..please...stop spreading the lies that 24xxx is a corporate PRL. It's far from it.
2. Looking for a VZW 3G roaming PRL? Try 56xxx or 16xxx for LTE/800SMR devices.
3. But what about 12124 or 11119? 12xxx is missing the MCC/MNC records needed for some LTE chipsets, it also has the 800SMR channels/SIDS as lower priority than PCS. 11119? Don't even touch it unless you are on say the original EVO or Epic.
4. No CDMA PRL will ever have anything to do with GSM. Get it? It's a CDMA PRL, GSM doesn't use PRLs.
5. Can I get a PRL to enable VZW LTE? Nope. Your phone isn't auth'd for it nor is it setup for it.
6. Well what is 55xxx? It's a PRL for LTE devices but it does not have 800SMR support at this time. What does this mean? You could be in Chicago in a thick walled building and your buddy pulls out his GS3 or EVO LTE that has a stock PRL on it, his phone would have coverage from Sprint on the 800mhz channel and you would have no coverage or either be roaming.
7. Why doesn't it have 800SMR since the phone support it? Don't know.
8. What other phones have this 55xxx PRL? iPhone and Photon Q LTE or whatever it's name is.
and continue on with the other list of PRL myths...
There have been multiple threads all over xda saying that 24006 is a corporate prl. if it isnt, then what is it? and why is everyone saying it is?

Because someone decided to start that rumor. Corporate prls to me roam on VZW 3g, 24xxx doesn't do this so it isn't corporate in my book.

there is no 3g roaming for on 56006 either for me.

There must not be another carrier available in your area.

Help with putting the prl on my Note II.
Sorry for my ignorance, but when you say "put it on my internal card," where exactly do you mean? I downloaded the zip file you mentioned, renamed it to test.prl, dragged into the root storage for the phone, and followed the rest of the steps but I get a message saying there is not test prl file on the SD card.
Could you please help? Many thanks.

It worked for me. Make sure you have your MSL code to get in the programming.
What are you using the msl code for? any extra settings that your adding like a force to roam ? I was able to load several different test.prl's without the MSL but Im not able to MAKE my phone roam. Theres a very weak weak sprint signal that it tries to hold on to If i was able to get my msl and tweak it to roam it would be Awesome!
Let me first start out by saying that I know people have been saying to never do *228 on LTE or phones with SIMs. I was doing it for years on my Gnex and never had a problem, it even updated the PRL in some cases.
Recently I was in a rural area with my 5X and it was bouncing between 3G and LTE a lot, I figured why not perform an update just in case. My phone was served 53977 and been stuck on 3G ever since. I tried taking the SIM out and rebooting many times. It just won't serve me the other PRL for LTE.
Wife's identical phone has 15457. Is there a way for me to download the PRL off her phone and serve it to mine manually?
I'm on CM13.0 - 20160610 Nightly. I think I'm on the latest baseband M8994F-2.6.32.1.1 and vendor. TWRP recovery.
Did a factory reset...flashed factory image. It is stuck in LTE now. Under "Service state" Voice: Out of service / Data: In service
I can't make calls. Nobody knows where to find the PRL file?
have you tried just calling Verizon Wireless and explaining your problem of not being able to make calls? They can probably remotely re-provision your phone.
I try to do as much as possible on my own, since I still have unlimited data I don't like to call VZW for anything. I think you're right I may have to do that at this point.
The PRL is the preferred roaming list, I don't believe it has anything to do with native coverage on Verizon, only updated roaming partners and towers.
You should not have to update the PRL on the 5x. Do a factory reset, and have Verizon activate a new Nano Sim for you. Just put the sim in and you're good to go. No need to mess with any APN settings either.
