wtf Verizon? - Verizon Note 7 Questions & Answers

Called about swapping my note 7 with a s7e and she said Verizon only sells the 32gb model edge is that true or is she an idiot?

I'm pretty sure that's true. I had to put an SD card in mine when I had it.

Believe that is true. They do like to limit our options/fun/toys

That's so lame. In my experience once the memory starts getting full Samsung phones start lagging badly..

If you root make sure you get an app to trim the filesystem on boot. That makes all the difference.

Anyone else having guilty thoughts about switching to a Nexus 4?

I hate to say it, but the Nexus 4 is REALLY tempting me. Even though I just got this phone 3 months ago and it is by NO means out dated, some part of me wants to sell my S3 and get the N4 without spending any extra money at all. Do you guys thing it's a problem that LG made it? I'm skeptical. Any of you guys thinking the same thing?

How so? At least for me it is not because I use Tmo so I don't use LTE, and I really do not need that much storage space.
Sorry, but no. It doesn't have a micro sd slot, and its not a big upgrade over the s3. I'll pass.

They are selling it at little to no profit, and the standard pricing of phones these days is VERY inflated. The phone companies will not like Google very much for this haha

[Q] Brightspot Samsung GS-3 on T-Mobile network

Brightspot just launched a couple of days ago, and I see a good price for S3 off-contract - the full name of this phone is "Brightspot Samsung Galaxy SIII Cell Phone - White (T999L)". I'm thinking about buying this device and use it with my T-Mobile sim, but was curious to find out if anyone did the same thing and was successful? Do I have to unlock it... would the data work with my T-Mobile sim...? The reps at Target don't seem to know, or they are not willing to tell me the truth

If it's a t999l it should work straight out the box. If not just unlock
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
It's just a guess, but if it's a T999L, it should be identical to T-Mobile's in every way, including its firmware. Anytime a carrier wants different firmware, they usually give it a different model number.
For example, Metro PCS has the T999N. It is a T999L, only the firmware is different, and doesn't have T-Mobile apps/bloat, but this got it its own model number.
Basically I'm saying it should work with T-Mobile's SIM with nothing done. But, like I said, I am guessing here. If you do need to unlock there are online services as little as $5 out there.
Do you have a link to where you saw it? How much were they asking?

well, i cannot post any links yet, but the phone can be found on target's website, under electronics...cell phones...prepaid (no contract). it's 399.99, no contract.

Those are both deal breakers for me. It's just another way the manufacturers can try to dictate how you use hardware you purchased. And to ensure you'll be back to spend more money when the battery dies or you run out of storage.
Anyway, those were both at the top of my list when deciding if I should ditch HTC for this S3.
Sorry for OT, just thought I'd throw that out there!

It is nice to have expandable storage and the option to change batteries. I had the option of the S3 or nexus 4, its obvious which phone I chose. The back of the nexus 4 being glass (fragile glass) was the deal breaker.
The S3 is nice and I've learned quite a few things since I've had it and its a tough phone, I've dropped it a few times and it doesn't have a single mark on it (guess I'm somewhat lucky).
Op if you decide to go with the S3, backup the imei before you start flashing ROMs. There's a few methods on how to do it, you should be able to find them easily.

I guess those who are so smart that can hack the phone are not so smart to post basic information.

Maybe Java card method isn't what you desire....but it does in fact work to completely free the Verizon m9.
Good luck finding any Verizon device which doesn't require some amount of "hassle" to unshackle.

I think you have a bad unit or get horrible reception(I lean more towards bad unit, it happens). I have 3 users with the VZW M9 in Long Island NY and all 3 of them get great battery life. In fact 2 of them are definitely power users and they only rave about it.

If we did get it, it'll be at least 2-3 months after Samsung releases it. Most likely though, ATT will just trash the update and hope we upgrade our phones to the Note 5.

I have no plan or desire to "upgrade" to Note 5... no SD card, no user-replacable battery is NO "upgrade" as far as I am concerned. Samsung is losing touch with users, all for $ to snuggle up in bed with carriers.

Locked Verizon Bootloader?

So i plan on ordering a Pixel XL paying the retail price from Bestbuy since they have them in stock http://www.bestbuy.com/site/google-pixel-xl-4g-lte-with-32gb-memory-cell-phone-slate-verizon/5656050.p?skuId=5656050 but i noticed it says Verizon. Yes, the bootloader will be locked if purchased from Best Buy or Verizon.
its been confirmed from multiple places that Verizons model will have a locked bootloader. so if you care about custom roms or resale value get the model from the google store. There is always a possibility that someone will figure out an unlock for the Verizon model but i wouldnt count on it
It seems it's all speculation. Haven't seen/heard anything fact that it is indeed locked. But knowing how Verizon operates it will be.

As stated multiple times the Verizon nexus 6 was still able to be unlocked, it was identical to the Google store one, just with a Verizon emblem on it.
If it's like the nexus 6 with unlockable bootloader I'll be getting the 128 xl from Verizon and be returning the 32 xl to the Google store. I kinda regret not getting the larger storage. Hopefully we will see the unlockable status for a fact on Thursday.
