I just bought the galaxy note 2 from T-Mobile but I can't figure out how to get the multi window.
I found somewhere that I need to do a software upgrade, but it's telling me there are no upgrades available...
Anybody know how to get the multi window working ? I really wanted this feature and I'm so angry it's not working! :crying:
You probably have wait for the update like the international versions did. I remember there being a slide tab on the left that included the apps that could run in multi-screen.

I have the Sprint version of the Note 2 and doing this does not open the multiview options. It looks to be disabled.
firmware update?
I got the T-Mobile version yesterday. I've been trying the multi-view feature but it does not work. Snooped around the web and it looks like it needs a firmware update. Some said you can updated it thru samsung's Kies software. Tried it but it says my device is not support.
Anyone have any luck?

Yes it says the same thing on when I connect it via kies. It says im not able to update with Kies.
What I find goofy is that the popup player and popup browser will work, but you cant get the true multiwindow thing to happen with other programs.

Check out this response I got from Samsung this morning. It is baffling. A simple "USA version will get an OTA very soon" would have been fine. This response is just stupid being that they advertised the feature on their website, videos, etc.

I think that's better than them not even knowing the phone features. I was chatting with a rep for over an hour and I had to explain to him what multi window was and still did not understand.
Looks like Samsung is doing the same BS HTC dose. If the feature isn't released by nov 24 im gonna make a support petition and take Samsung to small claims court and get every penny I paid back. How can they market the phone with the ability then say they are unaware if the device will support it. My neighbor took att to small claims court and won. So I wont think twice to file one against samsung. Thats the feature that sold me to this phone. Well the lie that sold me to this phone. I simply wont stand for this sh1t I want wtf I paid for. No they don't. This just means that Samsung is releasing it to the S3, which they already did to the Note 2. The carriers still have to approve it and release it to the devices, so it's going to be a while until the AT&T S3 gets it.

They also had to wait 3 weeks longer to touch their phones. It's a trade-off, for sure. For all we know, that's why Verizon delayed releasing their phone, so they could update the firmware with multiview (and add their bloatware to it!).

Yeah its not all that great, though I have only been playing around with it for a day
I think you'll only really hear people who are anal about rooting their phones, who tend to always complain about stock UI. I've owned HTC phones with stock Sense and Samsung phones with stock TouchWiz, and I've yet to find anything so terrible about either, that I feel I simply must root my phone to replace it. What exactly is so bad about stock UI?? Maybe someone can point some things out to shed a light on what I may be missing due to my ignorance.
Just got the full confirmation from my Samsung mobile rep yesterday that sprint will be dropping the 4.2.2 firmware for the S3 in mid June. Anybody hear anything differently of can back up what he told me?
Edit: it's mid June and we've seen nothing yet lol *(clearly)*. Either my rep was mistaken on the ETA or the rumors are true about the delay for the S3 and the Note II. I apologize for the mixed information.

I'm guessing that to get that OTA 4.2.2 update I would have to go back to stock everything from something like this: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1904099)
I feel like quite a bit of people on XDA already are rooted and have a custom ROM that is already 4.2.2; is there a reason to unroot and go back to stock when 4.2.2 comes back?

Right now only AOSP based Roms are on 4.2.2 for our phone. Some people like Touchwiz Roms better. You don't have to unroot. When OTA drops you can just flash a rooted version of the OTA update or other OTA based TW Roms when they update.

I just got the new update an hour ago and wanted to share my thoughts because I know there's still a lot of people wondering what it fixes. So far I've noticed:
- Phone in general feels much much quicker.
- gallery no longer lags.
- switching from wifi to 4g o longer lags the phone
- camera is improved. Still slight shutter delay but I'm thinking it must jus be how it works since it's taking such high quality pics.
-updating apps in the play store no longer makes the phone lag.
-one of my favorite things is the home button response speed is really fast now(yes svoice home button is disabled) I noticed the home button used to lag sometimes. Much faster now.
- I noticed some buttons in the camera and gallery are different and have some extras. Haven't had much of a look yet.
-it appears all my apps are on the SD card now.
I can't comment on battery life or anything else yet but I'll keep an eye on it tonight.

Can't ever root again......not if Samsung had the NSA itself encrypting the bootloader.
Also, the locked bootloader is only a requirment to run Samsung's Knox protection sofware, which is only really relevant for business use.

In LG's defense, when KitKat released in November, some variant's of the m7(HTC One) were still on 4.1.2. LG would have been stupid to update 4.3, it would have been a flagrant waste of money. LG knew in August of the existence of Kitkat(because PDK, and Nexus 5), so they just focused on delivering KitKat, and skipping 4.3. Hell, the Note 10.1 is skipping 4.2 AND 4.3, and going straight to KitKat.

from what i am seeing and hearing, No. you will have to .tot back to stock in order to take ota. or if those apps were backed up in titanium you may be able to restore them and take ota. Not sure on the last one though.
I suspect part of wait for 4.4 is that Sprint put a lot of resources into the 4.2 Spark Update when they would have been otherwise testing KK, other carriers were able to get more QA time on the new release and Sprint is playing catchup. (Personally, I wish they'd waited for KK to do Spark)
