If there is a ROM for your region/carrier (or at least one that plays well with your carrier), you can try it to see if VoLTE works.
VoLTE is a little complicated and jumbled. Carriers seem to be deploying it in different ways. For instance on US AT&T, you pretty much need an AT&T based ROM for it to work, far as I know. And not all ROMs even have the option to turn on VoLTE.
Not a great answer, I know. But that as much as I can tell you.

thank you, actually i dont knw what's.. LTE is working but to make a call or to receive a call i need to keep Internet on, which leads to draining of battery faster. since my mobile supports VOLTE in at&t i though i can do something to on....

You can try flashing the AT&T stock rom backup in twrp. Even I'm using an AT&T M8 and I tried almost every custom ROM but each of them only shows the
volte icon in the status but it doesn't works. The only way is to flash AT&T STOCK ROM BACKUP if you're s-on ... If you're s-off then you can use the RUU.

Query Regarding Getting the Desire from London

Well the topic is about the Desire and how to get it but I was not sure which forum to put it in so posted it here.
Well my Brother is moving to London for 2 years. Now he has his N95 (unlocked) which he would like to continue using as he has his paid apps installed on it and stuff.
Now he's getting a HTC Desire on contract. So If he uses the Contract Sim in his N95 and sends back the Desire to me here in India, I could unlock it and use it with any data carrier here in India right?
Yes you could unlock / debrand the Desire and use it on another network.

The network won't care right even if he's using his contract sim in his other unlocked phone?

Oh and one more thing.
Some guy on tech enclave was saying that if you unlock your phone using the unlock code the phone will once again get locked after I update my phone software to Froyo.
Is that true? I thought this only happened in iPhones? If it's true what are my alternative means of unlocking?
Thank you everyone
Simply re use the same unlock code you originally used to unlock the phone and you'll be fine.

Could you tell me what site you or others used for unlocking the phone from which you could re use the key?
Anyone know How much would it cost in customs to get a Desire from the UK to India?

VOLTE

Is it capable of Tmobile VOLTE? If so is it a hardware thing and can work regardless of rom (in my case 4.4.3 gpe)? Or must I use sense?

T-Mobile just released VoLTE in San Francisco. You have to wait until they release it in your area.

HTC One M8 does support it and it works great for me on T-Mobile's network. If you are using the stock rom, there will be a little "HD" icon at the bottom right of the contact image when you make a call on VOLTE. It's also only supported with other phones that can do VOLTE, so keep that in mind.
Is it ROM dependant? Do i need to be on stock sense?

I think you are describing "HD Voice" (where both ends of a call use a different codec that sounds better).
VoLTE is where the phone uses the LTE data connection for a phone call (like WiFi calling, but different).
As far as I know, VoLTE is not currently available on the M8. It is not known if a firmware update from HTC can bring VoLTE to the M8, but I sure hope they can.

Note3 supports it which I am not sure if all snap800 SOC's support it. I would venture to say that 801 and beyond will for sure though. But OTOH, knowing carriers and their greed they might advertise some other phone as the first to support it and not enable on a phone capable of supporting it.

Phone taking long to ring

Can someone help me ? I am on Tmo I have a verizon htc one m8 and have arhd 8.1 and everything works great. The only thing I am having an issue with is is take 15-25 seconds before it starts ringing. I have it on GSM/WCDMA/LTE. I think it's having trouble from switching to LTE to H.
Could be Rom related but most likely it's due to being a vz phone. The pure tmo one rings within a second

I doubt that I have used vz factory unlocked phones on tmobile with no problem. The only difference between the tmo and vz is the 1700 band. Where I live 90% of the area is re-farmed.

Flashing different carrier's roms

Hey guys, since T-Mobile has unlocked bootloader, are you guys able to flash other carriers roms like at&t?
I'm only asking because im on an AT&T model, but eventually want to flash T-Mobile roms once our bootloader is unlocked for wifi calling.

It would require some tweaking, but in the base idea, yes, they're all the same (with different radios and likely different kernels). You'll want to just wait a little bit and have devs port to the other models. However, your goal of getting wifi calling likely won't work. Maybe I've been out of the loop, but last I checked the app registers your phone number with the T-Mobile network so it knows where to forward calls/texts to. So it more than likely won't work for AT&T/Verizon. I believe Sprint has it now, but same method.

hi sorry, i left out a big important detail. I'm on t-mobile lol. so it would work for me. This is my first lg phone, and i've been on many other phones where we can easily cross flash carriers without the need of porting the roms. I was under the impression that the at&t model was slightly different? i should revisit that again just to be sure.
I was hoping if there was any hard evidence or experience that someone did flash an at&t rom without any hiccups. That'll mean we can do it vice versa.
Thanks for the info.
On other phones this has been possible, I would wait for a definite answer, or make sure you have a backup ready just in case you do try it...
I am on Verizon and I was also wondering if I can flash a T-mobile rom without the risk of an hard brick. I can take the risk of a SW brick.
Why would you want to do this
I'd be careful, there are probably significant differences, you can't use a vz phone on tmo network.

I'm pretty certain that all Vzw phones come unlocked and can be used on t-mobile. Might not get all the bands to work correctly, but will still work.
Vz runs a cdma network for voice and data, t-mobile runs gsm. Some phones can do both, eg Verizon's world phones, but by no means all of them. YMMV

If it is 4g it should be a "world" phone.
Here's the details: http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-6991
While the G3 isn't listed, the G2 is so I would assume it will work.
I have flashed a Verizon rom on my T-Mobile phone and almost everything worked fine. You'll need to adjust the apn and delete Bluetooth apn as it fc. The OP stated that he will most likely make a patch to fix the problems

As I said, it may cause your phone to be a brick. You can use a Verizon one on any network, just input your carrier APN with your carrier's SIM. You can install any GPE or aosp Rom and it will not have Verizon apps on it iirc.

I honestly don't think so. A: the radios are different. The Verizon one doesn't support any 4G band except 700mhz 13 and it only supports certain hspa and edge frequencies. So it isn't the same hardware wise.
@santod040 might be able to verify my assumption that flashing an international firmware can possibly brick your device.

The firmware from international model will not work, as to it bricking...........no idea on that note(i don't see any reason to find out either, since it won't work for sure). But I know that only VZW firmware will work on the m7vzw. As Uzephi said - the hardware is different.
No it will not work and you will most likely brick by flashing international firmware onto a Verizon one. The radio hardware is different thus making the firmware totally different. Do not do it.

Santod takes the rom from those devices and ports it to this device. Firmware is a totally different beast altogether.
