I bought the Note 7 last week and received it Tuesday and after going through the settings etc noticed that some things are missing or is completely different on Verizon's version of the note 7. I was able to get the Samsung cloud back but is there anyway to get the maintenance section back for Ram management?
There is a great thread about that. Do some looking around a you should get all the info you need.

It was nice having a Galaxy S III, but I've had it with my poor battery performance and lack of software updates from AT&T. (Considering the Galaxy S IV gets updates while we don't even have multi-window yet, I'm beginning to think AT&T has dropped support for it already so customers upgrade.) I'm gonna end up getting the next Nexus phone.
By the time the next Nexus phone comes out, it'll be a gen and a half old. Are there any good buyback programs you are familiar with, or would ebay be the best? What do you think the value will be around the October/November timeframe?

I would say craigslist, i have sold ALL my devices on craigslist and it works the best, and you get the most money, but you really have to have expierence or else you would get scammed. You could trade or sell you're s3 on craigslist. And you would gain, but you have to meet up. Its really good, but you just have to be well expiereced. Hit the thanks button if i helped. :good:

And I would go with swappa. Its free and doesn't allow junk devices. And At&t wouldn't drop support for this phone, it will probably get 4.3.

First, yes it probably will be locked
Second, swappa is probably the best place to get a fair deal and amount for your phone
Third, with the way ATT handles updates we might, maybe, possibly see 4.2.2 made official on the I747. About the only way to see 4.3 will be through an aosp based Rom (CM,AOKP, etc).
Fourth, the S3 was put on the End Of Life list about the time the Note 2 was released.

I noticed this on Sprint's RDF feed for their devices:
Code:
<prf:SoftwareNumber>T217SVPUBNC9</prf:SoftwareNumber>
<prf: OSVersion>4.4.2</prf: OSVersion>
So it appears that the T217S will get 4.4 in the next couple of months.
I think only u.s version will get kitkat

For me it's been a while away from the non iphone scene, I happened to wonder if I could upgrade my Tab3 7" today and was reading plenty of news about it being available soon (from articles posted in February). A quick poke around and it seems that it's not released yet and I figure I may as well ask since I don't know.
What's the release schedule around these things usually like? IE how long from "announced" to actually available?
Is the firmware for Tab devices geo-specific? IE is the Australian launch different to the US etc?
(I understand for the phones it's likely to be very carrier dependant)
I think that's all for now.

If you have a Sprint Tab 3 7.0, then expect an update somewhere between now and two months. That is just a guess but that is how firmware for my Galaxy S3 has worked. Sprint updates the RDF feed and then about two months later it gets released.
For other Tab 3's, no idea.

Samsung is notorious for being one of the worst manufactures out there when it comes to updating their budget products. I wouldn't hold my breath on a April release, I expect the Tab 4 to be available for purchase before you'll see it. The Tab 3 7" will also probably be the last one to get it and will most likely be the last major update you will ever get, I would bet money on it. I'm actually surprised Samsung is even updating the Tab 3 7" as their track record for releasing new Android versions for their cheaper models is not good. Yes, the update is carrier specific for the LTE models and won't see the light of day for at least a month or two after the WiFi models are updated, if at all.
In the future I would stay away from Samsung's budget line, it's already been a year since version 4.3 was released without it ever reaching the Tab 3 line and now almost 6 months and counting for 4.4.2.
To be fair I only got this device to run torque pro in the car (which is does just fine). As an appliance it's great! Now I'm just tinkering because I'm bored
Although I'm also temped to trade in the iPhone for an android based phone and while I understand it's low powered this was going to be a taste of the new OS I'd be getting.
i bought tab 3 2100 since i needed a 7 inch tab with phone capability, my first choice was any google tab but there is no phone capability in them so therefore i bought it.. and i think Samsung wont give kitkat update unless they release tab 4 with kitkat ... this is their way of making money !
Well, I bit the bullet and pre-ordered. I was undecided if I was going to upgrade to the S6 since it doesn't have microSD or easily changed batteries. I ordered the 64GB version. I currently have a Sprint S4.
BTW - I pre-ordered from Best Buy and it comes with the wireless charging pad for free. =)
Now, someone please tell me I won't have to wait very long for root and an AOSP ROM...
It will undoubtedly be a nice upgrade from S4. I had the s4 and had gotten sick of having to root/upgrade rom manually every single time there was an update to hold onto tether. Two years ago I found Nexus 5 which lets me tether without root and have been using that since. My contract is up so the s6 is tempting, but I am on the fence currently, esp as it relates to tether.

Received text from AT&T today informing me that the Forced Update to Not Allow The Note 7 to recharge anymore set to be Pushed Out on 1/5/17. Saw that it is rolling out on 1/19/16 but after 30 min on the phone with AT&T and talking with the Samsung Rep there the date of 1/5/17 is correct for AT&T Customers. From what I have found Surprisingly Verizon is not taking part in the update for legal reasons of disabling a person's only phone and the possibility of them needing Emergency Services but not able to do so because of Update.
I Love My Note 7 and Hate My Hand is Being Forced to Surrender It. If anyone else has been Note Users for years like myself and went to something out I need suggestions! I used the Galaxy S7 Edge while waiting for my Replacement Note 7 and Was shocked how much I disliked it. Not sure if I'll go back to Samsung when I Surrender This Phone at least until a New Note is Released. Hope This Info Helps as I made account to share this as I've found so much helpful info here over the years. Any questions or anything please just ask.

Had Notification that I am to new of a user to post links which I assume also means attaching images. Well I tried to post direct links to Screenshots of the text from AT&T that I got today about the Upcoming Forced Update to Cripple Note 7s. If another user wouldn't mind posting them in here for me I can supply them with the links. Thanks
Hello,
I am new here. I heard about this from the IT personnel at my work. I am hoping someone here can help me. Obviously by my heading ... I have a Galaxy Note 7 and I do not want to turn it in. I have had no issues with it and do not have any other phones I want to get until May when the Note 8 is suppose to come out. What I am looking for is if there is some way around the system updates. I saw that someone had a set up that worked with the older Note series, but nothing that I can find that has been used on the Note 7. If there is, please let me know and if possible, I may need a little guidance thru it. Thank you.

Welcome on xda!
It's a better way to ask your question in the device specific forum. Just search for the note 7. There are the people with the same phone (and probably the same question). So I think the chance of getting an answer is there higher...

I am not a user of note 7 but I had read about the problem with battery. They said that is not to much space around the battery and for this explode. So I think that you have to return it immediately because it is serious problem and if you don't return it 1 day you will face it.

The note 8 doesn't come out until at least May. I don't have another phone to use until then (since they took my old phone when I got this and they cant get my phone back) and I am not locking into another phone and not being able to get the note 8.
Note 7 has a battery issue which caused some units to explode. You should return the device to samsung and get a refund. Because this phone is discontinued and Samsung disabling all the remaining note 7 units. You can't carry a note 7 in flights also. Get a refund or get any other samsung device. Almost 90%+ units are returned. Be safe and return the device.

I know the issues. I also know it was a small percentage that did meltdown. I know I can't take it on a flight ... and I haven't been on a plane in over 4 years ... so I'm not worried about that. Samsung has also stated it is over 93% that has been returned.
As I stated, I am not looking for anyones input to turn in my device. I am keeping it until it either doesn't work, melts down, or the note 8 comes out. I am not putting myself into a 2 year payment on a phone I dont want. I dont have a ohone to use since they took my note 5 in exchange. So that's the end of that discussion.
Again, it's not worth it, you should return the phone and get the refund, believe me, someday you'll regret it if you don't.
I received the help I needed. This can be locked. Thank you.
