Hi!
I have come by a LG G3 D855 with no speaker sound. Thinking a new speaker is no problem, I bought it.
I bought and put in a new speaker unit, but still no sound.
It has Android 6.0.
Everything else seem to work fine, normal sound in earpiece, also sound via headphones and bluetooth is normal.
I know nothing of phone history. Could it be a software problem?
Thanks for any good advice!
Regards Ornulf.

I just received my G3 (the European 855 version) today and wanted to listen to some music from Google Play Music All Access. There is a terrible hiss/crackling sound, especially in the left ear and it's with earphones that (still) sounds fine on my old SGS3. I've tried with 3 different pairs of earphones and it's the same with all of them.
Does anybody else got problems with hissing/crackling sounds from the G3?
I solved this myself - the problem is "only" there if I'm using ART, after going back to Dalvik the problem is gone again.
Dont have this problem with my D855. Not with v10a or e. Used this phone with headphones/speakers about 8h/day since release.
Im using ART.
Switching back to Dalvik didn't solve it After a reboot the sound is fine but after a while the hiss starts, especially in the left ear. Nobody else got this problem? I'm on v10e with a D855 32GB
UPDATE: I just connected my Fiio and with that to amplify the sound the hiss goes away but as soon as I remove the Fiio the hiss is back again.

it's a problem.
But it depends what kind of earphones i use, with my sennheiser MOMENTUM it's perfect.

That seems to point to an impedance issue. It is not in every phone because I use very low impedance IEMs and do not hear it. I have also read reports of it just going away on its own.
This is a kitkat bug that was uncovered last year.

That doesn't explain why some G3 owners got the problem and others don't as we're all on 4.4.2

It's dependent upon the earphones you use.

Except that I have used a variety of different impedance earphones with mine and have never experienced any hiss. I think higher impedance can mask it if it is present but doesn't fix the root cause.
i dont have this problem..im using the earbuds that came with the s4
Hi, Is this problem solved in lolipop update? Thanks
I'm having this same problem with my D855 that I bought today.
It sounds like a loud hissing noise (like interference) and only seems to come out of the left ear piece, it's not noticeable when the music gets busy but during the quieter parts or where only one instrument is playing, it sounds horrible.
I've tried my Monster Turbine Pro Coppers and the bundled earphones, both produce the noise. It's also very apparent at different volume levels.
Updating from KitKat (4.4) to Lollipop (5..0) didn't help, as the problem is still there.
Looks like I'll be returning this phone already as I use my phone to listen to music a lot. It's a shame that such a fundamental problem should ruin what is otherwise a really nice phone. Ah well.
This problem has been discussed in many threads and i think its a software problem.
Reasons why i think it's not hardware relsted:
-The g2 has a similar issue but only after you patch kitkat on it.
-on my g3 and many others the hissing disapears after you make a call (with no headphones pluged in) until you reboot the system.
This simple bugfix works for me but it's a pain in the ass and i hope somebody finds a way to fix it for good
Ps.
Stock Lollipop and cm 12 both do have the problem
Hi guys,
So I've LG G3 D855 with lollipop and i am experiencing a weird problem. I'm using the original earphones that came with the phone but on the earphones the volume buttons, the mid button & the mic as well have all stopped working. I can listen to music using my headphones but I can't speak using my earphones on call as it's mic is not working, I can't change track, can't even raise or lower the volume using earphones buttons.
I am new to this forum. I did search about the problem first but couldn't find an answer here. Anyone knows how to fix it? My phone is not rooted and the problem was there before upgrading it to lollipop too.
Thanks
Anyone? Anything ?
same problem here.
but i found out the the earphones of my Samsung S3 work just fine on the G3 and also the LG earphones work fine on my Samsung Tab S!
So it seems to be a problem with only the original LG earphones on the G3 alltough they are displayed/recognised on the G3 as a headset.

In my case the LG earphones are working with other devices but any other earphone not working on my LG G3. By "not working" I mean the mic, the volume up/down buttons are not working but the sound from earphones is OK (It is OK in case of LG's own earphones too)
Any idea whats going on? and how to solve this irritating issue..
earphone remote troubles
Hi, I wish i had the answer to this but unfortunately, im just another one with a similar situation. First off, I have a sprint LS990 and didnt get any headphones when i bought it back in August 2014 but had a samsung windows phone before my g3, which i had 2 sets of the white HTC earbuds with remotes/mics that i got from nomorerack.com on sale. Anyway, the volume buttons, middle button(pause/skip), and mic all worked perfectly on that phone (Ativ S Neo). When i used em for my g3 though, on stock rom, cloudy 1.2, and BarRin, all the buttons except vol. down worked no matter what i tried. With Lollipop now though, I'm running Barepop rom currently, and all of a sudden the down volume button actually works in addition to all the others. So im just stumped and trying to find out anything that anyone might know about the issue or a fix for it even so i can revert back to my trusty KitKat. Hopefully someone comes across this thread thats got some insight into the headphone issue of the G3.
In the meantime, thanks dev's, for all the great stuff on this website.
Same problem in my G3
I am trying all the earphones ( Samsung,LG,MI,Soundmagic) but nothing is working, the only solution I found is bluetooth earphones. Any other solution ? Bluetooth headsets don't come cheap when you try to find equal quality of your 10$ earphones.
Same problem here.
I tried an Apple headset and Klipsch Image S2a, both works perfect (mic + buttons) with my G Pro 2, but not my G3.
Did anybody try to get it fixed under warranty?
I have a ATT LG G3 D850. Everything works except for the earpiece speaker. I have tried Kit Kat, Lolipop, CM12, stock aftermarket roms. Regardless of the OS it still does not work. I took a working phones speaker and swapped it and it still would not work, and the old speaker worked just fine in the other phone. So it is not the speaker, and it seems to not be the software?
What should I do next?
I did a screen replacement on my D722 and lost all sound. My earpiece speaker came back after a lot of flashing and reflashing. Headphones work intermittently. The loud speaker on the back is not working at all, so no media and no phone loud speaker.
I bought a used D855 that has the same problem, although I haven't disassembled it. The previous owner more than likely did.
The speaker may be damaged but I'm not sure how. It hasn't been mishandled and the earpiece recovery leads me to believe it is not speaker-hardware related. I'm wondering, with all the trigger points on the back, if I've somehow tripped something that flags in the firmware? I replaced build.prop and soft bricked.
Anyone know why my speaker (and headphones) aren't working? Thanks in advance.
Headphone socket has shut down completely now
Hello,
my wife has got international LG G3 (D855). Ear speaker started to sound pretty much distorted. I have replaced speaker two times already, first with OEM speaker from ebay, second with new original speaker. Still the same, do you have any clue?
Thanks Jan.
Well I will answer myself. Speaker grid was full of make up, so it has been vibrating while making a sound. I have cleaned the grid and sound is perfect!
