Either i'm going crazy, or Screen off memo changed between the pre-battery-recall firmware and post-battery-recall.
I could *swear* the line thickness was smaller before the update.
Also, what's with the weird minus-shaped cursor when you hover?
When you start writing, it turns into a normal circle shaped cursor, but as soon as you move the pen away and bring it back to the screen, it's a little dash again, until you actually touch the screen and start writing.
I'm fairly certain it's a bug, i'm just not sure if it's just my device or if it's widespread.
I'm on the original Note 7 PH9 frimware everything is as described. Except this "line thickness" I'm not sure what you're referring to?
I can't say much about line thickness, but it does seem very responsive to pressure - maybe try using the harder grey s-pen tip instead of the stock one, which is softer?
The line is there to show you where you're lined up.
Weird, i'd swear i didn't see that line before.
So if it's there to show where you're lined up, why does it turn into a normal cursor once you touch the screen - and stays that way for as long as you keep the pen in proximity to the screen?
Re: line thickness - good point, maybe they changed the pressure/thickness responsiveness slightly, or this pen has a slightly different feel. I'll try the harder tip.
Just to be clear re: cursor, this is what i was talking about:

Hi
Is there any software that will zoom in on a text area? For example in a text field if I want to move from the 7 character to the 3rd character to correct a mistake it's a guessing game where you click unless you use the stylus. A friend showed me his IPhone and his will put a magnifying glass over the text area so you can move your finger left and the cursor will follow.
Searched on Google but could not find anything like what my friend had.
Thanks
ps. Could someone please change the title from [REG] to [REQ]. Thanks

i don't see any significant magnification on the i-photo you posted
i agree that it's easier if you can move the cursor by moving your finger left or right in the magnifying glass but believe me it's as easy as using the arrow keys in htc keyboard to move the cursor! No need to tap on the screen, just use the arrows to find the right spot
The problem is I don't use the HTC keyboard. I use Resco with the iskin theme and are no cursor keys with that. I agree that the HTC keyboard with it's up down left right keys is the best way to navigate a text box but for people that don't use that keyboard it makes things more difficult.
has anything new popped up with this request. I know the Droid X and Droid 2 have this feature as well. Is there anyway to port this now that more and more android devices are getting this? Is it even possible to port something like this to the Droid 1?
the xperias used to have this... but they removed it with Android 8
Tried getting aroma to work no luck. Going to keep trying.
Okay guys I am in desperate need of some help here. Myself, hyperrunner, and smirkis have been trying to get Aroma to work on the Kindle fire and have had no success yet with getting the touch screen to calibrate correctly.
Running the calibtool and touching the dots correctly the numbers that return are way off and are extremely huge numbers, and after touching the 5th(center) dot, you should see a large dot where you touch and that does not happen. But if you go through the set up as though the tablet would be portrait, you get some descent calibrate numbers back, and after the 5th dot, the screen does show touches now, just not in the correct position.

So running normaly throught set up it has you touch points A,B,C,D. But the result from that is usless. But if you touch it as C,A,D,B I get some descent numbers which are
calibrate("1.9490", "74", "6.4672", "8")
But now my touches are actully 90 degrees off. On the caveman drawn x y chart. If I move my finger up and down they y axis, the dot will actually move along the x axis, and visa versa. Was wondering if there is a way to take the calibrate numbers from above and convert them to rotate my touches 90 degrees.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
Sorry I just copied and pasted this from the Aroma Installer thread, maybe two places is better than one, maybe!! Hopefully!!
What package are you using/where can I download aroma installer. so I can see if I could do anything to help.

I am right-handed and the phone's setting is set to right-handed, this is how it looks when I draw a line from the left side of the screen all the way to the right until the S-Pen disconnects from the screen:

}
You can clearly see that the line is cut-off half an inch before the edge. If I hold the S-Pen in the left hand and drag a line from right-to-left, I get the same effect on the left side of the screen. Disappointing.
I've got the AT&T Note II and I am not seeing this. I'm a righty with right-handed mode.
.
I wish I could borrow a different pen to determine the source of the problem. How much does a new S-Pen cost anyway?
-EDIT: I bought a new one on eBay for $20US, will have to wait a couple of weeks for it to arrive.
I have a similar problem. Not as exaggerated though. I think it has to do with the sensitivity of then Pen, which you can adjust by taking the button off. I think it is due to the way the Pen is powered. When it is off the edge of the screen, it isn't getting as much power. Look into how wacom pens are powered to see what I'm talking about
I calibrated the sensitivity slightly by turning the potentionmeter half a turn counter-clockwise and now it's PERFECT.
This thread should help others who suffer from this issue.
p.s. now I regret paying $20US for the other S-Pen..
Is there a link with instructions of how you did it?

Be very careful and gentle with the screw, it's really easy to break.

Hi, I bought my nexus 7 in 2013, it had Kitkat 4.4.4 for most of its time, I never rooted it.
However about three months back I noticed a strange thing that I could only pull down the notification bar from the very left and right ends of the screen.
Since I was a bit skeptical I did installed a touch screen test app named "Yet Another MultiTouch Test" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rn.yamtt and tested the screen responsiveness, then I found out that a slight strip on the top edge of the tough screen had become unresponsive rest of the screen was fully responsive. For the clear visualization please refer to the following illustration as I didn't took a screen shot at that time.

I didn't consider it as a big issue as it didn't get in the way of using the device.
Eventually I updated to android lollipop and the touch screen issue still existed as same as when the device was on kitkat 4.4.4, but from last couple of weeks my touch screen issue seem to increase over time not full vertical strip has gone unresponsive to touch.
After going through many threads I even took the back cover off and check if the touch screen connectors are intact. The only thing I didn't try was software mods as I doubt that would help me because used this for almost a year without any issue.
I never dropped the device the screen shows no damage or whats so ever.
So I shall be much be thankful if anybody could help me find where the defect is.
I had downgraded back to KitKat and had it setup exactly like I wanted it and had been using it for a few weeks. All of a sudden my screen would become washed out. Kind of like it was stuck in reading mode or something like that. Sometimes it will correct itself on it's own or if I enable then disable grayscale mode. If that doesn't work, then I have to reboot. After being locked for a few minutes though, it gets washed out again. I decided to go back to Lollipop to see if that fixed it but it's still happening.
What could be causing it have washed out colors?
Can you screenshot what you're talking about? And why would you want to be on KitKat?
Do you have the adaptive display enable?, is the rgb sensor blocked?
John.
I was going to try and get a screenshot but it hasn't done it again. Anyway, I just traded it for a gaming laptop today so doesn't really matter much anymore. Thanks for the replies though!
So, I got my tablet back and I have some screenshots of the issue available. Hopefully you'll be able to see what I talking about.

I believe it's hardware related. I was holding it at the bottom right corner when it got the green tint. Grabbing the bottom right and top left corners and bending slightly on the back of it causes the green tint. Bending on the front reverses the green tint. Loose connection, a short, or failing screen altogether?
EDIT: I looked at those screenshots while my screen is normal and I can't see the green tint, so this is really weird!
