S-Pen issue (Not the standard sensitivity issue) - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am right-handed and the phone's setting is set to right-handed, this is how it looks when I draw a line from the left side of the screen all the way to the right until the S-Pen disconnects from the screen:

}
You can clearly see that the line is cut-off half an inch before the edge. If I hold the S-Pen in the left hand and drag a line from right-to-left, I get the same effect on the left side of the screen. Disappointing.

I've got the AT&T Note II and I am not seeing this. I'm a righty with right-handed mode.
.

I wish I could borrow a different pen to determine the source of the problem. How much does a new S-Pen cost anyway?
-EDIT: I bought a new one on eBay for $20US, will have to wait a couple of weeks for it to arrive.

I have a similar problem. Not as exaggerated though. I think it has to do with the sensitivity of then Pen, which you can adjust by taking the button off. I think it is due to the way the Pen is powered. When it is off the edge of the screen, it isn't getting as much power. Look into how wacom pens are powered to see what I'm talking about

I calibrated the sensitivity slightly by turning the potentionmeter half a turn counter-clockwise and now it's PERFECT.
This thread should help others who suffer from this issue.
p.s. now I regret paying $20US for the other S-Pen..

Is there a link with instructions of how you did it?

Be very careful and gentle with the screw, it's really easy to break.

[Q] Joining a broken stylus for xda atom

After broken my stylus for 4 times & buying a stylus is quite expensive in my country, this is my way of joining the stylus. No issue of worry of dropping this stylus anymore.
Sorry...The photo below not so sharp as I used the O2 to take the photos.
1. Things required:-
a. two needles
b. pair of pliers
c. Fast bonding adhesive /glue
My way of joining the broken stylus
2. Heat the needle until it is glowing red & pokes the in needle at end of the broken stylus as photo below. Try to poke the needle as deep as possible, the deeper the better. But 1cm will do.

3. Make sure needle is strongly stick to the stylus. -------------4. Cut the needle between ½ to 1 cm.
5. The other broken part of the stylus (the black plastic one).------------6. Make a hole to the plastic part of the broken stylus
7. Joining the both parts. --------------------------------------------------- 8. Done

I bought this and solved problem Full plastic...
You could always try and find a metal stylus but still a good tutorial. You should put [Tutorial] Before the thread name so people dont think you're asking a question.
I experienced "broken stylus" before also, and I only join the 'metal part' and 'plastic part' by using the 'fast dry glue', until now still using it
Anyway, your tutorial was not bad huh!! Thanks for your tutorial!!
thank you very much, I will try
aw man i wish i saw this before. i tried using glue before but didn't work out so i just threw it away

Does your keyboard extend 0.25mm or so to the right of the display?

The bottom part of my VZW TP2 (the part of the keyboard) seems to stick out ever so slightly to the right of the display portion. This is more noticeable toward the top of the device, leading me to believe that my device is slightly crooked (even if it isn't noticeable without feeling the sides of the device). Even though no functionality is lost, it still does bother me, because I always notice the asymmetry.
It's about 0.25mm or so to the right.
Are your devices like this too? The keyboard part slightly to the right of the display part of the TP2? I did drop my TP2 on the ground rather hard, but other than a couple of scratches (not on the screen, thank heavens), it works fine. Perhaps the drop caused this?
I'm hoping that I can somehow lead Verizon to believe this is a hardware defect and get a new one in exchange >_>
Are you a troll?
Seriously, 0.25mm?
I'm dead serious. It feels uncomfortable and I'm a bit OCD about this kind of stuff.

Can someone just feel their TP2 and tell me ;_; If I wanted to troll, I'd make a more idiotic topic.
Mine is the same..

So, there will be a pen like the Note.. What do you think: useful or useless garnishment?

Well, the Note's pen is good and very useful for some apps, but that's mainly because of the big screen (I really miss the old Windows Mobile days and the stylus era ).

it wont be pressure sensitive so pretty useless unless you have 10 broken fingers
Useless stuf this stylus.Only a thin case and a screen protector its useful

whats the hole on the right side of my note 3?

Ok guys....heres the question as stated above, there is a tiny hole on the bottom right hand corner of the phone, on the side, slightly to the right of the stylus?
basically, I broke my glass a few days ago....i got attacked by a very vicious ****ing dog....and my phone fell during that ordeal, and the glass cracked, ive since then replaced it....but you guessed it...i accidentally cut this sensor here on the Menu/Back key ribbon assembly...Ive noticed NOTHING absolutely NOTHING different in Operation, then again, im not sure what the sensor was for, i did see somewhere the phone is equipped with a Barometric sensor, maybe this is it? in that case i could care less, if i didnt have to take the glass off id replace it, but unless its important im not going to, but can anyone tell me what it is for sure? in the picture i posted its to the right of the back key.

Cool thank you much bud, well, luckily i have no use for it, just a pointless feature for me, but i would like it working someday again, but im not removing the glass again and putting more LOCA glue just to get that working, unfortunately the stupid menu/back button ribbon is under the glass.
but thank you for the info glad i was right

Screen off memo bizarreness

Either i'm going crazy, or Screen off memo changed between the pre-battery-recall firmware and post-battery-recall.
I could *swear* the line thickness was smaller before the update.
Also, what's with the weird minus-shaped cursor when you hover?
When you start writing, it turns into a normal circle shaped cursor, but as soon as you move the pen away and bring it back to the screen, it's a little dash again, until you actually touch the screen and start writing.
I'm fairly certain it's a bug, i'm just not sure if it's just my device or if it's widespread.
I'm on the original Note 7 PH9 frimware everything is as described. Except this "line thickness" I'm not sure what you're referring to?
I can't say much about line thickness, but it does seem very responsive to pressure - maybe try using the harder grey s-pen tip instead of the stock one, which is softer?
The line is there to show you where you're lined up.
Weird, i'd swear i didn't see that line before.
So if it's there to show where you're lined up, why does it turn into a normal cursor once you touch the screen - and stays that way for as long as you keep the pen in proximity to the screen?
Re: line thickness - good point, maybe they changed the pressure/thickness responsiveness slightly, or this pen has a slightly different feel. I'll try the harder tip.
Just to be clear re: cursor, this is what i was talking about:
