Any leaks/rumors regarding ATT Next - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

I've noticed there are quite a few rumors reporting that verizon will carry the phone in-store. Have there been any similar leaks/rumors regarding ATT carrying the phone?

No. But Google will let you finance their hugely expensive phone like a car.
http://pocketnow.com/2016/09/19/google-pixel-pricing-verizon-rumors
For the first time on a first-party smartphone release, the Google Store will offer financing for these not-affordables in select markets. A year-long warranty extension will be available as well as accidental insurance is available at the price of $99 for the Pixel and $119 for the Pixel XL — the Nexus Protect program offers similar protections.
If you want to get your phone from a physical store, rumors are holding up Verizon to be the exclusive retail partner for Pixel carriage. There will supposedly be three colors, but none of them are technically white — the closest we get is an aluminium shade, followed by a shiny, bright blue and black.

im guessing verizon only or unlocked all carriers entire world only

I'm increasingly wondering if the entire point of Next is to provide a financing program for Samsung and Apple. That's about all that AT&T carries on the program these days, though I think you can still get some older model HTC devices and a few LG devices. They all start on page 3...
EDIT: It's confirmed. Pixels will be a Verizon exclusive, so no-go on Next - at least initially. On the plus side, my bill will be lower for a while.

T-Mobile you SUCK!

today I went to a T-Mobile store in Bellueve to see if it is true that you will never find a Windows Phone 7 on display. As I was looking around for Windows Phone 7, I did not see any Windows Phone 7. All I see were shevels and display of android phones. I made an attempt to ask one of the salesclerk, and told me because Windows phones aren't selling, they didn't want to waste the shelf display. I am really upset at T-Mobile, and I think Microsoft should investigate into this practice. No wonder their phones are not selling.
When I went to try the HD7 back at the end of November they had two phones on display, they even had and HD2 on display.

I bought mine via Amazon wireless, with T-Mobile contract. I am very disappointed that I am thinking about canceling my contract with them, but I must find ways to cancel without getting charge.
You guys shouldn't complain; I'm on ATT... All thre really do is push their ****y iPhone as much as possible ...

Weird, the T-Mobile store in my City had the HD7 plastered everywhere.
I have noticed a difference with att stores and att authorized stores which look like an att store but they are privately owned. I assume it is the same with T-mobile. The authorized stores will push there highest end phones that are not neccesarily the newest or best phone out considering they want to rid their inventory; so they will try to sell you anything high end that most of the time they have little to no knowledge about haha.

Gonna have to call shenanigans. Almost every decent AT&T store I've been in has a display unit for pretty much every phone they carry barring maybe a few feature phones and dumbphones. But as far as smartphones go, they almost always have at least 1 display unit for every phone.
I used to have AT&T, so I've been in a LOT of AT&T stores
T-Mobile stores are just full of lazy employees. There's a 50% chance the phone you want to try will either not be on display, or the reps unplugged it and let the battery run out.
I don't know. Around me I have four T-Mobile stores. Each one has a Vibrant, MT4G, HD2 and HD7 running side-by-side. Only one store had the HD7 not working because it was played with so much that it was always in need of a charge.
The problem at these stores is that they were selling the HD7s, but most of them were returned within days of the purchase. According to the sales people the reasons varied. I think most of them were returned because they weren't what people were expecting. However, the sales people were actively pushing it over the Android phones.

Uh, the Bellevue (Factoria) has an HD7 on display. It's on the left hand side of the store when you walk in.
The RTC store has one on the left hand side of the store on the upper display when you walk in the door from the main street.
Are you referring to the Bell Square store? While I can't vouch for it, I'm quite confident that they have one on display. Since I'll be there tomorrow, I'm more than happy to take a photo of it.
Cheers!

which exact t-mobile bellevue store did you go to?
exact location is needed.
The T-mobile store in my area isn't even selling WP7 devices, but all the Tmo Stores in the City over have the glass covered with ads. I think it has something to do with whethers its an authorized reseller or an official store. Because T-mobile will market every device. Unlike official stores, authorized resellers will only sell what they see fit. Couple years back the same store in my area would sell the G1 and stop selling sidekicks.
really... we need two of these threads?

These type if things happen to all the newcomer OSes. It happened to WebOS on Verizon, Android on AT&T somewhat, etc. While reps should be objective and respond to the customers needs, anytime you have something that isn't understood and you have humans with preferences this will always be the outcome. Just give time for Windows Phone 7 to mature and I'm sure the attitude will Change.

Carrier Billing on the Nexus 5X

Has anyone tried to purchase something through carrier billing yet from the Play Store on their 5X? I am on Verizon and it doesn't work for me, I guess because it's not a Verizon phone. Have others seen this as well on Verizon as well as other carriers? Not the end of the world to lose this but wondering if its just a Verizon thing.
Works on T-Mobile and AT&T
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
Most likely, they still use IMEI for that and it isn't in the system. But, just in case, did you cut an existing SIM or get a new one from Verizon? I'm not sure this is it (I haven't tried carrier billing) but when I called for a new SIM she asked me if the phone was NFC capable. Maybe in their system, NFC = billing. They mailed me a "GEMALTO 4FF NFC SIM CD"
I'm sure it's a verizon thing. I used am existing sim card from a Moto X 2014. It is the nfc capable one. The option was listed but when I tried to use it the payment was declined. I assume you guys have already had successful payments made?
I'm a "Jump On Demand" T-Mobile customer, which gives me 3 upgrades per year. Unfortunately, when this Nexus lineup was announced and I learned that I wouldn't be able to get it through T-Mobile, I was a bit disappointed. However, my work around for this was to just buy the 5X and then go trade in my phone to T-Mobile and get the cheapest phone they offer. This dropped my monthly payment by about $18/month and allowed me to stay on the 3 upgrades per year program. I want to stay on that program because next year, knowing how fickle Google is, the next Nexus release will likely be back on the carrier bandwagon. In which case, I'll go back to getting my phones that route.
But for carrier billing, the only thing that changed for me was that I was able to drop my monthly bill by purchasing the 5X outside of T-Mobile.

Thanks although for carrier billing I meant the ability to buy apps and media from Google Play and have it appear on the bill with your carrier. Not the phone itself. At least for me Verizon doesn't seem to let you do that from the 5X, my guess because it's not a Verizon phone. Curious if other carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile have the same rules for phones that are not sold through the carrier.

Pixel Phone on Verizon

So with the Pixel phone being sold through Verizon here in the US, do you think this phone will be fully unlocked if bought from them?
Wow, that is expensive... and sold out...
Didn't get one, but want the 128 GB (though I wish they offered a 64GB).
Add the protection plan for another $100, sitting at close to $1000!
Holy cow... I am going to need to sell a kidney.

Being it's Verizon I would say very likely but I am sure it will get cracked at least until new updates remember this is Verizon your talking about they love to be in control of things that they have no right to be. Easy fix don't buy from Verizon buy from Google or if you can buy from HTC as they will treat you better in the long run like the $100 in free accessories they gave the HTC 10 buyers after we got an extra free USB-C charge cable months before and maybe uh oh protection might be included too but that is hoping lol.
Is there any downsides from purchasing from google vs Verizon? Will we get access to the same LTE bands, etc.?
In the past, have google versions of phones have come with unlocked bootloaders but verizon come with locked versions of the same devices?

Given the way the past Nexus devices (that included support for Verizon and were eventually sold through them) the answer is no. They use the exact same hardware presumably. But until we start seeing model numbers confirmed it could be a possibility. But the unlocked version will support Verizon and it will have Google as your main access for support (which has been good to some people in the past).

The only reason I'd consider buying it straight from Verizon is because it would be added onto my bill in which my job would end up paying for my phone. If I buy it from the PlayStore i'd have to buy it on my own.
I think I'm going to end up with a Note 7.

I'm in that boat as well, work will pay for my phone if I get it through Verizon. Here's hoping that I can in some way sell the Verizon phone NIB and buy the unlocked one.
If you get it from Verizon they are offering the promotion 2 year contract again exclusively for this phone. So you can get the pixel 128gb for like $300....but it might be bootloader locked and you won't get the free vr headset promo the Google store is offering right now.

My coworker told me about the 2 year promo...I didn't actually see it myself. He is currently at the end if a 2 year promo so maybe that has something to do with it??
Oh that's it. Anyone on a contract can keep getting new contracts like that. But new customers cannot get a contract from Verizon directly. You can still get service through Verizon with a new contract and subsidised phone you just have to purchase the Verizon service through dealers like best buy and target I know they both list new Verizon service with a contract where you get the phone subsidised instead of a payment plan or paying full retail price for the phone.

Yeah, but it took well over a year to unlock the verizon S5 (at least. I hadn't looked for another year, so it might have been over 2). It'll be cracked Eventually but how long will it take
I'm not too worried about the bootloader being locked as I've stopped rooting my phones and flashing ROMS but I just need to know if the Verizon model has all the bands to work properly on t-mobile. I have 2 sims and need to confirm this.
Bootloader is definitely locked. Saw this question/answer on the VZW Page this morning for the Pixel XL.
I just preordered the pixel xl from best buy and extended my contract with Verizon. Does anybody know if the version they carry is the same as Verizon's or the unlocked version in the play store?

Why are so many of you buying from Verizon & BestBuy instead of Google?

Just wondering. Why are so many of you buying from Verizon & BestBuy instead of Google?
You do realize the phones not purchased from Google will have a locked bootloader. So why would you buy from Verizon or BestBuy instead of Google, who has the same price and you can use either phones on Verizon if you so choose to do so.
I don't want to say ya'll are dumb, but I kind of feel this way.
I'm sure there is something I'm missing though, so help me understand please.
Are the payment plan options the same? If so that might be one reason. I have Verizon because that's what my employer (who pays for the phone and the bill) uses.

Believe it or not, not everyone needs a bootloader unlocked these days. My days of tinkering with Android are over as I feel Android is better than ever. It is unfortunate the OP feels that I am dumb because everyone doesn't agree with his way of thinking...
It was also cheaper to purchase from Verizon for a new 2 year cobtract
Sent from my Pixel using XDA-Developers mobile app
I personally ordered mine from Verizon due to my work account, and also don't care about root or unlocked boot loaders since I haven't needed either in several years. That being said I also believe many people have not been buying directly from Google because Google hasn't been able to keep them in stock. Which of course also implies that many people are buying them from Google, lol.
Best Buy is cheaper with a 2 year agreement ($299.99) as well as a 24 month installment ($31 a month), for 32GB version.
Also, best buy is giving a $100 gift card, which you can do whatever you want with. (resell it, use it, etc).
If you are only keeping the phone for two years, and don't care about updates after that, then its probably a better route. After two years, you are SOL for getting an up to date OS.
I had the note 7....the last return I just upgraded to the pixel xl. In exchange So....through Verizon it was.
Its an economic decision for me. In Germany I'll get the Device from T-Mobile Germany for 179€ (around 197 US$) for the renewal of my contract - I think this ist much better than the 1097€ direct from Google. The only downside is that it will have a locked bootloader...I'm still hoping someone finds a way to unlock the bootloaders of the Devices wich doesnt come directly from Google.
I ordered mine from Verizon. I haven't rooted a phone in a long time so locked or unlocked bootloader doesn't really matter for me.

I have my phone rooted for Tasker and Xposed, but the Verizon phone can effectively be considerably cheaper right now.

Best Buy will currently give a $100 gift card if you don't want a new line, a $200 gift card for a new line, another $25 for a sign-up will be available after the pre-order is over, and it can be done with monthly payments to allow porting out or cancelling the line. Verizon has phone trades that total $200-$300, which is done through reduced monthly payments, and my Razr M qualified for $200. Some people have other options on Verizon. Google does not offer similar sort of ways to essentially reduce the phone's cost at this time.

Personally I question the idea of paying iPhone 7 prices, and since I'm not interested in the VR headset, that's basically what initial Google store customers are doing. As much as I like what Tasker can do with root, I'm not sure it's worth giving up automatic updates and effectively spending another $175 that I could have with $225 in Best Buy gift cards. If it turns out that there are limitations on the Verizon phones for anything other than the bootloader unlock, I'll probably change my opinion, but at this time it looks like Google's bottom-line price is considerably higher than what is possible at Verizon.
Purely inventory for me. Google shipments are a month or more out. They won't even take my money to pre-order it. VZW device I can have in 3 days.

Buying it as a contract renewal over Deutsche Telekom is way cheaper for me, especially because I work there and get a monthly discount on the main contract.
I have to 29,95€ monthly instead of 64,95€ and get the Pixel XL 128 GB for 279,95€ on time fee.
But even the phone for my wife is way cheaper. I paid 19,95€ for here family card without a phone before, now we upgraded it to a contract with phone to 29,95€ a month and also 279,95€ for the small Pixel 32 GB.
Yes, I would also love to have a unlockable bootloader and instant updates from Google but after not rooting phones for a couple of years I will get along with it.
I wanted the one from the google store but didn't feel like waiting for it. I would like to have the bootloader unlocked just for the option but i haven't had time or need to mess with rooting and custom roms, so just having pure android is perfect for me. So for me it made sense to just order from Verizon, everyone has different needs or reasons and i would say for 90% of the people buying this phone has no need to ever unlock the bootloader or even know much about that world of roms and rooting. I thinks its a stretch to insinuate people are dumb for having a choice and choosing one over the other

I ordered from Verizon because I was able to trade in an old phone for monthly device credit. It should save me $100-200 depending on how long I stay on Verizon DPP. I preordered one from the Google Play Store as well. I don't plan on opening the box from the play store unless the Verizon model upsets me and needs to be returned.

Whats the point of buying two then? Everything about the Verizon version is the same except for boot loader.....
Buying it directly from Verizon because
1) My job will be paying for it
2) I feel once I have stock Android I don't really need to have root or an unlocked bootloader.
3) Don't have to wait until it comes back in stock via the playstore.
Major discount through employee. 419 vs 869 for xl 128gb and plus availability. Still waiting though as I want to see if anyone cracks that Verizon bootloader within the first month.

I am planning on keeping the Verizon Pixel because it is cheaper for me. As more reviews and info come out that is ACTUALLY reputable, I want to be able to return it to Verizon within the first 2 weeks if I decide there are significant differences between the Verizon version and the Google Play version. If I do that, I want to have the Google Play store Pixel in a box ready for me to switch over. This way I also get to take advantage of the Daydream VR, no matter which device I return.
Since the announcement on October 4th, there has not been any real credible information about the Pixel. Everything has been "so and so said this... Don't buy the Verizon version... etc." Then every Android blog site just blindly regurgitates what was said as if it was real news. NO ONE fact checks. Some CSR at Verizon who doesn't know what a freaking bootloader even is said something, then everyone freaks out and android headlines and forums go crazy. Then someone at Google says something else and everyone takes that as the truth. Does anyone even look at where the info came from? The only group I believe at all at this time is Google Pixel team. If they didn't say it or someone cannot show me in a video with their phone in their hand, I'm not going to believe it.
As long as I am confident that the Verizon pixel will get updates straight from Google when Google promises (just like what I'm used to with Nexus), I don't see a convincing reason not to go with Verizon. I would like the ability to unlock the bootloader so that I can flash the factory images if that promise is not kept. With every new version of Android, I find less need to try custom roms. With what I have seen from 7.1, I don't think I will even have the urge.

XDA is all about development, I guess I'm still surprised when there are people here who don't care about flashing ROM's or backing up in TWRP and even some who apparently don't care about root any longer.
If I didn't care about flashing ROM's (or root), I'd be on a S7 Edge right now.

So much this right here. They said this about the Verizon N6 also. That everything would be locked down and look what happened. Nothing was locked down at all. I ordered the Verizon Pixel XL because of this also and i dont really need root anymore. If i am able to root its a plus but not a deal breaker for me.

Yes, I also am grumpy and pissed at google for messing up the "orders / pre-orders". Year after year, they keep screwing up on the first step. They "could" have manufactured an extra 50, 000 and it would not have hurt their economics and it would have greatly helped their public image. Did the 'Note 7' burn put a snag in things ?
.
What if the "big and detailed" reviews start coming in and it shows a narley wart about the phone ? ? ? My biggest, desired attribute is the big leap in the camera ( camcorder ? ) area . . .

No stock of V30's at local TMobile store.

So went to my local TMobile store today to pick up a v30, and they have none in stock and then told me they can't sell in store till the 15th. Showed them the tmonews that showed on sale in stores today and they had no idea. Called the store in the next town, they told me they don't go on sale till the 17th. Looks like I'll have to order online as no one knows what's going on. I'm not happy at all.
Update: I've called every store within a 50 Mike radius and not one store had this phone in stock.
Pretty much what to expect in a store ....
Talk to someone on the phone, more likely to waive any fees and throw in overnight shipping.
Same issue here. I've called every store within driving distance and not a single one has them in stock and none of them seem to know when they'll be getting them. It's pretty frustrating.
I had previously made up my mind to go with the V30 with my JUMP! On-Demand, rather than buying the Pixel 2 XL. However, LG's inability to properly launch a phone/stock carrier shelves with their phones on the date that they promised has me re-thinking my decision. LG just may have lost my money with this B.S.

If this were an iPhone or a Galaxy phone, TMobile employees would be tripping over themselves to sell you one. With this they don't even seem to care.
Update: take a look at TMobile's Twitter feed. People are pissed.
Two closest stores to me said they never recieved any units.

I've been searching all morning in the San Mateo CA area, and nobody has them in stock. Each person keeps telling me next week. I correct them and tell them it's released today, then they check and confirm it's indeed released but they don't carry it yet. Call customer service, blah blah blah. What a shame that LG can't get this launch right.

I'm pretty sure it's TMobile that **** the bed on this one. AT&T and Verizon have the V30 in stock at their stores.
Funny. I thought i was the only one who felt this way today. I call 90% of all the corporate stores in new york and nj. Even waited for today shipment to arrive and noone got it. They have a paper which claim. The release day is 13.. today. Dont know if is tmobile or lg not suoplying enought unit but base on marketing and how they are handleling the v30 right now is going to be disappointing selling device. Im actually wanted to switch my note 8 for this phone and after spending so many hours i have decided not to get it.
Before u asked. Yes note 8 is better. Already played with the lg v30. But i take the v30 more comfortable size. Hifi dac, non curve screen, right place finger print. Face unlock (WITH SCREEN OFF).
They are getting raked over the coals on this on their FB post. Of course the reps are acting like everything is fine.

Link? Curious to see this.
EDIT: Never mind. Found it.
LG doesn't seem to realize how much money they lose by not having their devices available on the launch date that they set with the carrier. It's such a momentum swing in the wrong direction for them. By this time next week, the V30 will have been forgotten in the minds of many because LG failed to get it into the hands of those who will sing it's praises and get more people into stores to buy the phone. The S8 and S8+ were readily available at T-Mobile on their set launch date, as well as the newest iPhone 8's. Which leads me to believe that this is solely on LG and not a screw up by T-Mobile.
Had the Samsung S8 not been available on its release date, I would have gone with a different phone. LG not having the V30 on launch day is going to push many, such as myself, to go a different direction.
LG can't expect to try and keep up with Samsung and Apple by pulling this crap.

I thought it was just a T-Mobile thing but it looks like someone tried to get a V30+ from Sprint in one of the other threads. They went through the whole process to only find out the only unit in store is the floor model.

I went to my local store again and none in stock. They just had me order one and felt so bad about not having them they waived the upgrade fee and overnight shipping. Saved me 45 bucks. Just have to wait now.

I tried the same thing and none of the stores near me had any stock. I did get a chance to play with the store model for about 10 minutes and I was very happy with it. Didn't see any banding at low brightness either!
I guess that I'll go ahead and order online. Too bad that Tmo only has silver to sell as I sure would have loved the black one.

And my phone has shipped. Hoping for tomorrow, but will probably be Monday.
Got out of work expecting to pick up one of these bad boys, only to be on the same boat as all of you.
The weird thing is that I spoke to the staff at the tmo near me and they told me that they were going to have the phone today. Today they told me that they received an email regarding the absence of the phones so even they were fooled.

Did LG finally did some quality control and concluded there are screen issues? And they better delay a week and prevent warranty issues??

Only that there absolutely no news on anything, with LG Italy that keeps answering "we'll release informations about price and availability in short time".
