I was wondering if there is a possibility in the future of Cyanogenmod coming to note 7? I know that you need to both root and unlock the bootloader to be able to do it. I have heard rumors of rooting note 7, though i have not investigated it yet to see if it works on the qualcomm note 7 and not only the international note 7. As for information I have the T-Mobile phone.
I really want CM for my Exynos version plz. With spen and iris integration ofc.
Yeah I forgot to add that will it be possible for the international version to get it in the future

Well, the thread title says all.
I'm not a developer and don't know if will be easy or not.
I ask for the experts, it will be easy for we get Note2 updates from the Note 3 or it is a different hardware and cannot be used the software from it?
Thanks
No, the update isn't from anther model, it's from Samsung,I mean, if Samsung want give it for us, it will be very very quickly, but Samsung do not want, because if note 2 get 4.3 too quickly, some people well not to but the new one. All about marketing.

The device it is the easiest to port from is the Note 8.0 I think. They are very similar. Almost identical.
Though its still hard..
why is mod locking up all Note 3 threads?
Because they don't have anything to do with the Note 2, what is also considered as "off-topic" in a section dedicated to the Note 2.
To OP. Why do you bother even think about this?! As soon as Note 3 comes out you'll get an update. These threads will get locked soon.

Note 3 have nothing to do with Note 2? What?
Note 2 has several variants but none of their roms can be ported/flashed to either device..so Note3 rom will no way be ported to Note2
Also Note2 will get update after months of launching note3(because of their marketing policy-no need to explain)

I think that my next phone will not be a Samsung. When i bought i choose it because Samsung said Note 2 was getting all the updates till Android 5.0, so i thought that they have good update policy (my previous phone was a motorola defy, and same thing there, no updates).
And about the "As soon as Note 3 comes out you'll get an update" citation, i think your wrong. Samsung is pushing everyone to buy a new device and not to make a good update policy for old devices

Oh, c'mon. Of course they wan't you to buy their newest device!! That's business 101!! What do you complain about? For companies doing marketing?! And we don't even need to discuss wether the Note 2 will get future updates or not. Given that even the S2 will get (or got?) 4.2.2 (delivered with 2.3 and got updated to 2.3.6>4.0>4.0.4>4.1.1>4.1.2) that's 6 updates including 4.2.2!!! Evene if it'll be late, im pretty sure it'll come.
what's wrong with buying new phone? You're getting both a hardware and software update.

Yeah, consumption is always a good thing. Says Mr. "FinancialWar". Pun intended?:laugh:
When S4/S3/s2 ROM can be ported in galaxy s i9000 then why not note 3 ROM/features ported in note 2
ancient galaxy s i9000(s1) has more 4.3 custom ROMs than our note 2

Kind of stupid comparison isn't it?
would you rather use i9000 with 4.3 rom or Note 2 with 4.1.1 rom??

No, its not stupid comparison .
I am using boht of them
but you did not get the point. did you?
I was saying that when JB 4.3 can be ported in old galaxy s with limited hardware and RAM then we can expect 4.3 for our note 2
It's called software optimization. ..
Not easy. .
And the note 3 is getting new s pen features in 4.3. . So Samsung does not want to release those features to note 2 before note 3 is launched.. plain simple. .just got to wait .

For the AT&T Note 4, should one avoid installing any updates to maximize the odds of the phone being rootable later? Or is it unlikely to matter?

From what we know about the note 4, which is very little so far, is that we need to find a way to root before 5.0L comes out.
I will buy a note 7. I have 2 options to go for exynos or Qualcomm version. I would like your opinion about wich one has the best performance for games and wich one has the best possibility to receive a developer future Cyanogenmod 13 build. Thank you

Snapdragon beats exynos in terms of performance. Exynos beats snapdragon in terms of possibilities of cyanogenmod builds.

But cyanogenmod roms have always been developed priority for Qualcomm snapdragon versions in story of Galaxy phones

Yeah, i'm going to have to say that is backwards. Qualcomm is good for custom roms and mods while Exynos is the better performer.
Not Qualcomm's fault actually. Whichever phone US winds up getting will be harder to root because of the customary locked bootloaders US Telco overlords has decreed. I suspect in this case, as with the case of S7, is that Qualcomm's chip is harder to root because of the additional bootloader. Not because of the chipset. But I guess I shd have said if you aren't staying in the US, this doesn't apply. : )

So should I go for exynos variant of note 7 if I want a future Cyanogenmod build?
Enviado de meu SM-N920G usando Tapatalk
Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but either way, we don't get Cyanogen do we?
For Snapdragon the Bootloader is locked so the possibility of a custom Recovery and ROM are rather bleak to none, no? I mean what are the odds that another EngBoot leaks for the Note 7? And even with that, people seem to have had a nightmare after Rooting their phones? Plus no TWRP, yet, is there?
For Exynos the Bootloader is unlocked so that's great, however I hear that Samsung doesn't release the source to bake CM for those phones. I will take this option cause at least we could have stable Root and optimized TW ROMs for the phone like the S7 Edge?
Lastly, correct me if I am wrong again, but according to all benchmarks and video reviews isn't the Exynos battery and performance always better than SD? Except the SD GPU edges out?
You pretty much nailed it on all counts.
If you want Cyanogenmod, the Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, and Note 7 are not the phones for you.

Can't you unlock the bootloader if the phone is payed off?
I payed off my S7 and called and had them unlock my bootloader on my phone. Won't that make it easier to root and install custom ROMs?
I'm asking because SP seems like the more likely candidate for Cyanogenmod. I also like Note 7 out of all the other android phones currently on the market. I'm a bit tempted on the Pixel XL, but the MicroSD and waterproof have it edging over the Pixel XL. I would like to think I could get the Note 7 from T-Mobile and then pay it off and when its payed off be able to install CM.
you will never have a working cm build for the note 7 or for any samsung phones for that matter..the only phone that had google experience was the galaxy s5
But doesn't S6 and before have CM builds? As well as the older notes?
What makes the Note 7 so much harder to eventually develop for?

it is not that..they are able to boot into cm but things that will never work are the camera, gps, 3d graphics and some other things..not enough to keep it as a daily driver

I know that Galaxy S4 had all of those working, and from what I've found is that Galaxy S6 also look like they have all of those working. What is it about samsung that would not allow that?

please show me the cm build thread that have all of these working without bugs? because samsung has not released the necessary tool and without it..those bugs will never be fix and thats why they end up abandoning their project

All of them have some bugs but no where near what you have said. For the Galaxy S4 its been a while but checking their forum on here I see that they even have Android 6 builds. including CM13 which is kinda neat given its age. Most of the other things I have seen by searching. I used the S4 as my daily driver for the longest time. Though you are right that some of the threads I have found for the S6 say not a daily driver. I am a bit curious about why, and if that will ever be overcome. As in, in a year will there be builds for CM for the Note 7.
On that note what is the best phone or company for CM?
Well that's just not true....

Which Part?
Many Samsungs has cm. Just not many anymore.
I must have been reading a different page... Someone said cm Roms were only on one ssmsung device.
Note 5 doesn't exactly have it...because the video recording will probably never work..accessing camera from other apps not working...

Yeah, I guess before last year I thought that the samsung devices were all supported by CM. That the samsung devices were the best ones with the best support for CM.

Yeah, I have since read that the S6, and Note 5, namely the devices that came out last year, don't seem to work well with Cyanogenmod.
Since Note 7 already dead,so note 4 deserves the Nougat.
I think Samsung should do that, except if Samsung want to kill note series.
I hope getting it officially from Samsung or unofficially from devs.
If there's a ROM already available let me know.

I was terribly disappointed by the debacle of the Galaxy note 7 as I was due for an upgrade this October and there is no other phone I would even consider (and the Note 5 is unacceptable with its lack of microSD card support). Thankfully, Samsung has already announced they will release a Note 8 next year but I doubt we will see any further attempt to get the Note 7 back on the market., so it will be a long wait for the next truly big thing from Samsung. They announced previously that the Note 4 had reached the end of its support lifespan but I do hope to see an exception made due to the debacle that was the Note 7. Perhaps some of the Grace UX from the Note 7 will find its way to our Note 4s along with Nougat. Here's hoping.
The Note 4 is already officially at EOL for Samsung. They have moved on, though I'm 100% sure we will see Nougat unofficially from the awesome developers here on the XDA forums! They have already tested and got Nougat to work on the Verizon Note 4. So its only time that us Sprint users will get to use beautiful nougat!
There probably won't be a Nougat update from Samsung, but there is a Nougat AOSP ROM in the works!
Hey all.
I have an HP Elite x3 for sale and someone offered to trade a mint Note 7 for it. The Note 7 is working regularly and with blocked updates. It also features a battery NOT made by SDI (it's a "second revision").
Unfortunately Note 7 are stuck in marshmallow limbo. I was wondering when the 7R roms start rolling, there will be possibilities for us to see at least Nougat on the Note 7?
regards!

You should trade that HP thing for the Note 7. No one can tell the future. The refurbished Note 7's aren't even official. There are always rumors and the release date gets pushed back every time. But I hope those refurbished Note 7 roms will bring new life to the Note 7 but it's not guaranteed. Because developers need a Note 7 to make roms for it. Maybe the refurbished will be different in some way that will make porting roms impossible. But If you can use the Note 7 in ur country you should get it. Marshmallow is not that old and will not be that outdated in 2 years time that it's will be totaly unusable . Right now Marshmallow is even better then Nougat if you are into rooting and Xposed and stuff.
