yes you have to worry.. phones upto 604 have had a bootloop have not seen anymore any newer.
tips make sure of this.. the 3 firrst digits of serial number you should ask fro 601 and up this means phone was manufactured on jan 2016 6 stands for year 2016 and 01 for month january.. so a 603 will be march 2016. avoid the ones that start at 5xx. and even the 6xx still bootloop but its lower...
also make sure you get warranty. and get phone that can be bootloader unlocked.. also get phone that its for your country ..as if it gets bootloop sending a h815 phone to LG usa example they wont fix it you need to send it to origin country like europe.. so as long as you get 6xx and have warranty its low possibility to get bootloop. andin case you can fix it by sending it to LG.

i cant tell unless you ask for first 3 digits of serial number. ask the seller cause you done want something that would bootloop on you. and that phone has bad imei. means it wasnt paid off. and was blocked in that country the phone is. i think that blocked or bad imei unlock are expensive.. i asked one guy in Los Angeles area and said 90 dollars to make it work.

What G4 version/ serial numbers to stay clear of to avoid bootloop?

So im about to get an LG G4 dual sim variant H818N or H818P and im worried about the hardware defect that most G4s have causing the bootloop. I wont have any way to get it repaired if that happens to mine coz i dont have LG warranty in my country. So any suggestions on what to look for in the fone? or shud i give up on a G4 altogether and get a dual sim G3 (iv been using a single sim G3 for over a year now)?
If you can't get warranty then its best to look at something else. Warranty is your only cover for what requires a motherboard replacement and this is the most expensive component of the device.
Buying new now means you will get a serial that begins with 60x. Older stock would have been sold. But there are reports, a few with that serial also being affected. Course the numbers are very low as more people bought earlier than now but since the price is atttractive there will also be more people interested.
The problem takes like 6-7 months to manifest. Which if you are in warranty gets you a fix at no cost.
If you buy one ,make sure you get with warranty . If not ,think about something else .
Looking for a board and someone to repair it will be big hassle for me so I guess il drop the idea of getting a G4. Thanks for the help.
I guess il go for a G3 then. Thanks for the help.

Bootloop black screen. Can't restore.

Alright so I have had my LG G4 since last summer. Last night I went to check my phone, and it was turned off. After turning it on it showed the LG G4 logo then went black. Tried charging it but same thing. Can't restore it because it won't stay in Download mode long enough to be reset. I have read that serial numbers that start with 505 to I think 507 or 509 can have faulty mobo's. I was thinking of taking it into Tmobile to get it upgraded or replaced, but there's one catch. My bootloader is unlocked an I don't know if that breaks warranty, when you turn on the device it shows bootloader unlocked. Kinda stuck here. Please give advice thanks :/.
What in case they knew about bootloop problem on the early stage, or they specially injected this problem to explode in two-three years (when the warranty is off). Just to save a lot of money they offered free bootloader unlock with non-removable message on the screen and "your warranty will be void". In my opinion they should fix it for free, just because this situation is a shame. Mine has unlocked bootloader as well, now in service, but still don't know the status. If they will not fix it for free - I will push them to do this

The circumstances are very different for the US than it is for the rest of the world. Your one catch is no catch. It doesn't matter. Just do it.

Alright I am calling the 611 number today. Thanks.
Not sure if the policy is the same worldwide but mine's just been for repair in the UK with an unlocked bootloader and CM13 loaded on it. They fixed it under warranty with no questions asked.
That said it was repaired by the retailer who probably don't care as they just fix it and claim the cash from LG.

warranty after service applied

Hello , When you send a lg phone for service with issue in motherboard(aka bootloop issue) and they replace it.Service guys associate the new imei and serial number with the old ones ? So if 2 year warranty is over but the new mainboard is much newer, in case of another issue ,for example screen flickering, could we send to it another service center and just don't tell them that the mainboard is replaced?

If im not mistaken it should be from the time they send it back the waranty should basicly be reset. Again if im not mistaken
There have been users send there g4 in multiple times over the last couple years. And ive never heard anyone complain of that.
To make things more clear,
Does service keep record globally to lg the mainboard replacement? So can I claim warranty for screen if passed 2 years from the day I bought it but the replaced mainboard serial number says that I have warranty till August of 2018?Maybe somewhere else from the service shop where I sent it for the bootloop issue because they will not know that mainboard is replaced.
Thanks.

Ill thank that response. That is a very good ? I would like to know that myself.
I was always under the assumption tbat yes any time u send a device in on a waranty and a poce with any kind of serial nums gets replaced the new serial is the new waranty date. I dont think the old imeis are any good any more as people with locked bootloader try to use old unlock bins. Have to update theyre device id and imei with lgs unlock site as their old ones arent reconized any more after mb replacement.

No. Your warranty will not extend to "forever" (if we assume you have a repair once a year.. ) or being reset just because something get replaced. I can speak for Europe only but I don't believe that any other country will do it different. Normally all vendors record the device warranty globally because if not they would loose many money. I say I don't believe but only LG knows for sure.
The bootloop issue is another story. This gets even repaired when outside of warranty e.g. in the USA due to the signed law suit. That's why this is not an issue for the most people.

What to Expect when I get LG Warranty Swapped Board for Bootloop?

Hi,
My ATT H810 LG G4 bootlooped long ago and I was told I was out of luck as the original warranty ran. Since the arbitration forced the warranty to be extended to 30 months in the US, I sent it to LG Fort Worth and they are sending it back with a "Replaced board" for the BS reason "Unit is not charging with cable" (they don't want to document a bootloop problem).
Anyway, I have a few questions while I wait to get it back:
Are they just putting in boards which will eventually bootloop or did they ever implement a hardware fix? Which Serial Numbers are "fixed?"
Relatedly, what I sent in was a 506 serial number. I understand that they may simply reflash the board to that old SN and IMEI and the old sticker will be the same. Is there a way to check what the actual new SN is to see if it's from a "good" batch?
They told me that the 30 month warranty for me was up on March 1, so I just slid under the bar. Is there a new warranty on the repair? If not, is there a stress application to try and force it to bootloop again before March 1? Maybe it's pointless if they're just putting boards into it which are bound to fail...
I know that these points have been covered over the years, but I really can't figure out the current information.
Many thanks in advance!

In terms of your board, if they replaced the board, it will have a new IMEI and serial number (mine did when the replaced it, ironically to fix screen image retention, so afterwards it had to go back again anyway)

If anybody reads this in the future, just a quick note about what they did in the end. They sent it back after "Replaced board" for the BS reason "Unit is not charging with cable". It failed after about 30 minutes of use, would not restart, and would not take a hard reset.
So, I sent it back (the repair has a 90 day warranty). This time, they listed it as "Symptom: Not powering up Repair: Replaced board". So far it's been working fine after this second repair.
Note that the IMEI and S/N (506) stayed the same after both repairs.
