Workaround for No Fix to Camera for Custom Stock Roms - T00J - Zenfone 5 General

Ok, after losing a long time trying to install custom roms on Zenfone T00j (WW), the only way i found to install custom rom with camera working was by Installing the Custom Stock Rom and changing it kernel to a Stock Kernel.
So, what where my steps ? With ZenfoneAssist-0.1.0.5_7
- Unlock bootloader
- Install twrp
- Install custom stock rom like mnml
- Run the rom
- Flash Kernel from UL-ASUS_T00F-WW-3.24.40.87-user (its the Flash boot command - kernel inside boot.img)
- Relock bootlocker with Zenfoneassist
And thats it, i am using it for 1 hour by now...
Now i want a solution for Cyanogen 13.1 =/. For that i need to learn how Unlock Bootloader from T00J like it has been done for T00F (using T00j files for the driver issues of the camera, but i dont know where to start for that =/). Need to discover how the developers unlocked the bootloader of T00F. Where i find that ?
Sorry bad english

sounds good, but i doubt a Custom Rom will not work on stock kernel, i certainly don't know it will work or not, but let's try

Only stock-based custom ROMs will boot with stock kernel
Or AOSP 5.0.2...

Custom roms with locked bootloaders

Hello everyone last week i got pissed at my arc s because of its stockness.Stock, kernel, rom, widges, slow ui,locked bootloader, not rooted etc etc etc.The i decied to unlock my bootloader, after few hours of research i found out that the only way to unlock it is the paid method i got pissed. Then i decied to install a custom rom and heres what i did"
Since i coudnt instal nor get into cwm i found this https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5wdnkuQ1dNaW5zdGFsZXIiXQ..
i installed the program, rooted my phone with DoomLoards method(the one for ICS phones) and then downloaded to rom
What i did next is to download few rom and tested and here are the roms:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526717 , I did all of the steps with wiping data/cache atc when i installed all the roms, but just choosed the other archive file for the rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1565475 < which im using now
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1515148
Remmember that i cant get into cwm if i turn of the phone for some reason,so i run the xperia cwm program and got into it.After that just follow the steps given in the rom's topic "How to install" and thats it.
After 2 reboots my phone was running all of the listed rom which needed unlocked bootloader in order to be installed
I would love some1 else to test my method
To flash new kernal u need bootloder unlock so u cant change kernal in locked bootloader
Roms like
Cm7&9
N miui wont work
Ics base Rom may work
Well yes
im running them with stock kernel.Right now im using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1565475 MuIU and it runs perfectly much better then the stock ICS i had before every with 80 100 free ram

Hi I would like to try what you have mentioned. However, I am currently still on the GB ROM. I have rooted my phone. I presume I need to flash to ICS first before trying your method.
Is there anyway I can flash a stock ICS ROM with a locked bootloader using flashtools? Stock ICS is not released for my region yet so I can't do it by the usual PC Companion way I think.
I dont think that u need to install stock ICS before using this "method".Try installing this https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5wdnkuQ1dNaW5zdGFsZXIiXQ and then do the steps said in the rom u want to install.I would suggest u to read very carefuly the tutorial provided by the rom's developer so u wont srew your phone like i did the 1st time aka dele cavik cache/farcroty reset etc etc.U can use the instructions from this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526717 .U can put any rom u want on the sd card but the steps before that got to be the same
So basically what you did was install a Stock Based ROM without install the kernel that ROM need right? And is working?
I have ROOT and ICS Stock, i already search and i was thinking to install a Stock Based ROM without ROM custom kernel but i was afraid
So seams you try it and work right?
Yes ive tried those 3 roms and they work with the stock kernel that my arc s comes with, they detect the phone as lt18i etc etc.Mind that if your bootloader is locked you probably wont be able to get into recovery vie the normal way aka press to volume keys up and down, thats why u need to install the xperia cwm program and reboot into recovery with it.If you do something wrong and your phone freezes at the xperia logo we can fix that(flashing the stick ICS with flashtool using flashmode (holding the back key)

I think you should install ICS first because those roms require baseband 70, that comes with ICS.
I cant confirm that my methot will work with GB since i did not try it

ME too have the same question
@gogobaba can you please try your method with JJ Hybrid ROM
2) KERNELS
a) Sirkay's ICS Kernel HERE (For Overclocking )
b) Arc Knight Kernel by jimbo77 HERE (for Overclocking)
OR
b) Stock ICS Beta Kernel with CWM HERE (thanks cobrato)
OR
c) DoomLord ICS kernel with Wifi Modules .
Sorry guys but i cant try it i dont have the time to reinstall my phone again and i dont have wifi or mobile internet for my programs to be downloaded again.
I have my doubts that this rom will work because of the kernels.Check b) its says stock ICS beta kernel i dont know if this is the stock kernel of the arc or its some other kernel.Ask in the rom's topic if u can install this rom with the stock kernel. If u can they you should be albe to install it.
Mind that i cant be held responsive if something goes wrong with your phone.I can verefy only the roms from the 1st post

Huh? This is not a problem.
You can flash stock kernel with integrated recovery and then normally ROM.
Yes, you need unlocked bootloader. But anyway it's required to use customs.
As to your idea.
Yes, it's possible use fastboot to write dumps of /system from customs.
But this have sense only as alternate install solution.

[Q] need some help installing KitSlim on locked BL

hi,
after spending a lot of time in the KitSlim thread i'm getting more and more confused.
One person says do it that way, another suggests a different approach.
i'd like to install the KitSlim Evo9 from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2743177
I'm currently running a stock 4.4.4 rooted with locked bootloader and a dualrecovery on my Z1C
- boot in TWRP
- do all the wipes
- flash the Rom from SD1
- without reboot flash the gapps
- power off
- use the flashtool to flash the 108 NUTStockKernel
- reboot & done
My Questions so far:
Is this order correct?
does the Rom file need to be on the internal Storage or would the SDCard also work?
Is the NutStockKernel ok for my locked BL, or do i just need to flash a standart 108Kernel file?
(Some say the NutStockKernel is only for unlocked Bootloader, some say it's for locked BL)
Does this NutStockKernel come with a dualrecovery?
Some even suggest not to flash a Kernel because i'm allready on a 4.4.4_108 !?
thanks in advance for answers!
the more i read here the harder it seems to get ^^ but i'll try.
this is a great community!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54777670
This is the process I used, worked fine.
thanks for the reply. i'll give it a go then.
If you already have fw.108 on your phone, you don't need to flash NUTs kernel.

does that mean, that the dual recovery will still be there?
(as far as i understand the recovery is in the kernel)
or does the recovery come with the ROM? cause it says in the thread that dual recovery is built in

Recovery is built into the rom, so whatever you do don't flash nuts recovery again after kitslim or you'll end up in bootloop and have to start from scratch flashing a stock rom.
So coming from a stock rom fw.108, with root and recovery (but locked bootloader) go into recovery, wipe system wipe cache&dalvik (don't reboot) flash the Evo9 then the Full gapps, that's it.
Even if it goes horribly wrong, you still won't unlock the bootloader, and rebuilds are so easy now thanks to Easyroot
thx for the advice. i did it and it's running on my phone now \o/
runs great, and no bugs encountered yet!
still got some questions.
are there any restrictions to what software to install with KitSlim running?

I think you should head over to the KitSlim thread, but no, it's just the same as a stock rom, install what you like. Although pay attention to which modules you install with Xposed, as some of them can clash.
i need 10 posts min. to post there, thats why i asked here.

cant install custom roms at all

Hi,
I never had this problem with other devices.
I have rooted my xperia z1c and installed custom recovery following the tutorial on xda. I was able to install xposed on kitkat and playing around with all sorts of rooted goodies ...
After that I tried no 3 times ! 3 different 5.0 custom roms. I followed the steps including wiping etc. Everytime I am ending up on a black screen with doing a reset through sonys software with the original unrooted rom.
I think I managed it one time to install a custom 4.4.4 rom without a problem. MAybe it has something to do with lollipop. Do I have to install a certain custom rom before installing a lollipop rom ? After flashing the rom I flashed the recovery fix btw. But I wasnt able to enter recovery mod ( black screen ) The phone seemed to work fine ( sony software deteced the phone instantly )
Any ideas?

OK I check it. I didnt unlock my bootload so thanks for that .. but why was it possible to install a custom kitkat rom ?

Some custom roms use stock kernel. Stock kernel works with locked bootloader. If you want to run a CM based rom, you will need to unlock the bootloader, but make sure you make a backup of your TA partition first.
Unlocking the bootloader disables some of the Sony software and camera features.
These roms will work with a locked bootloader, but just flash the rom, don't flash anything - kernel/recovery after
[ROM][Custom][Privacy Guard][Leds][UB LB] D5503_14.4.A.0.108
[ROM][Z1C][.157][LB/UB]DstrikerZ1 Kai ROM 4.7
[Z1 series][LB/UB][Advanced]RockZ1k_V-2.1

thanks again !

Each device is different which is why you need to read instructions first.

Custom rom, rooted phone, blocked bootlader

Hello
I have a Z1 Compact with a pre-rooted stock rom, but a bootloader that can't be unlcoked.
My question is can I still use a custom rom? If so, how?
Thanks
PS. If this is the wrong forum then please move to appropriate forum.

AFAIK bootloader status is relevant to the kernel, as far as flashing roms goes, so if the rom has a non-sony kernel, there will be no way to flash it without unlocked bl. There are several stock-based custom roms that should still work if you have root and recovery, (rockz1, dstriker, Kryptonian, munjeni's modded roms, prfs...).

If you have recovery, you should get a flash of led light when you boot, (maybe purple or orange), when you see the flash, press volume up or down to enter recovery.
To get recovery, go here -
http://nut.xperia-files.com/
Go to xz dual recovery>xz dual recovery 2826> z1c combined. Download it and run the installer on your computer. You will need drivers installed, and probably adb.
