Possible to use a Xynos Note 7 on Verizon? - Verizon Note 7 Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use a Xynos Note 7 on Verizon? Say one was able to do the swap directly with Samsung for a Xynos Note 7 (I assume this would have to be a factory unlooked N7?), would we be able to use the Xynos model on the Verizon network? I believe I have read the Xynos N7 is missing some bands that Verizon uses? Any clarification to this would be welcome, Thanks!

The LTE data would probably work with correct APN settings. Calling would not provision due to lack of Verizon CDMA bands in the Exynos and international versions.

Thanks for the response. So Exynos is out for US. Just trying to whittle down options if one returns their current N7 on what they can get for a replacement.

[Q] Unlocked AT&T phones can verizon sim be used?

I am looking to purchase an AT&T Galaxy Note 2 and need the following question answered... I am aware of the unlock link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2014982 that uses the method of dialing the following keys *#197328640# but here is my concern... Does this method allow you to use a Verizon Sim as if you had purchased a Verizon Galaxy Note 2? In other words does it unlock the CDMA band also?
Thanks for any correct information...

Until vzw goes to VoIP in the next few years the only thing the sim supports is 4g data. Because lte is a gsm based network, sim cards are needed. Nothing else in a Verizon phone used the sim so no you would not receive full service using a vzw sim. Not sure if you'd receive data or not but I'm betting no
Verizon uses CDMA for voice, and CDMA/LTE for data. Not only are the LTE frequencies incompatible, but CDMA is incompatible as well. So no, the Note 2 will not work AT ALL on Verizon.
Also to note, Verizon will only let you activate VERIZON BRANDED phones on their network. You can't buy unlocked phones and use them like a GSM carrier (AT&T, T-Mobile in the US) would. Sprint is the same way.

Ok, so if I purchased a Verizon Galaxy Note 2, and rooted it, I could then use AT&T and later if I finally want to switch over to Verizon, I could... If I am mistaken about this, please let me know. Because I am trying to get a Galaxy Note 2 that will work with both GSM carriers and also work with Verizon when/if I choose to switch.
No. Verizon and AT&T phones/networks are not compatible with each other at all.

This does not exist on ANY Note 2 on earth. Possible with *SOME* other phones, but not any Samsungs, and definitely more trouble than it's worth. NONE will be LTE compatible though. 99% of the GSM compatible phones on Verizon are locked on only work internationally, and will not work AT ALL for the US.

I've been wondering about this. Can't the Verizon "international" phones be unlocked, then used with a US SIM?

"Yes. Verizon GN 2 on AT&T network. Phone is rooted. AT&T APN added with APN Manager Pro. Decent speeds too with just 2 bars. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2"
Just pulled this off of a different thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044449
Seems like the Verizon GN2 can do AT&T with data, as long as you rooted and adjust the APN file. If this is incorrect please let me and the rest of the form know how or why this is incorrect....

I already said data "could" work. That'd not the issue. Getting everything to work is what seems to be unlikely. Different frequencies for voice/text.

Any new Verizon phones can work on any GSM HSPA+ network with some trickery or are unlocked out the box. Some phones work on At&T and T-mobile while others only work with carriers outside the U.S. YMMV.

Buying Note 4 but Want Root, Can I buy a Tmobile/ Att to Root then Switch to Verizon

Hey guys!
I have a note 3 and its EOL. I was waiting for a Note 5 but I guess I dont have time now. I like the S6 Edge but it does not have key features I want (expandable memory card, extra battery).
This leaves me back with the Note... What's the best way to get it Rooted for Verizon? Can I buy it from T-mobile / ATT Auto Root it then switch it over to Verizon? Thoughts?
The other variants don't have the right bands in them for Verizon. I believe your only option is to pick up a developers edition.

Incorrect. They have the same bands for Sprint/Verizon/ATT/TMobile ect.. but IME's have been white listed and/or bands have been locked by the carriers. Global phones typically have all the bands necessary.

Your statement is also incorrect in part, as the T-Mo and AT&T phones lack the CDMA radios required for Verizon.

I worked at VZW for 3 years in Tech Support. You can not take another phone from any other carrier (except the old Altel phones) and use it in Verizon with the exception of global phones with global sim cards. Verizon uses A-Key authentication which prevents taking a Verizon sim card and putting in a non-Verizon phone and using it. Verizon used CDMA unlike all the other carriers.
That really stinks, anything I can do on the Verizon Note 4?

[Q] Buying Unlocked Note4

I'm looking to purchase an Unlocked Note 4 with LTE (will be used on AT&T)
There are so many different models of the Note 4 with LTE out there. I'm wanting the snapdragon 805 processor and LTE that will give me full LTE speeds on AT&T network.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
(I'd like to be able to run cyanogenmod on it if at all possible)
Thanks!
(edit)
My apologies, I meant to say a Factory Unlocked phone, with none of the bloatware loaded on it from the carriers.
If you've read at all on here you've seen that the AT&T version hasn't even been rooted yet. So installing cyanogenmod isn't an option on this one at this point. I've heard the tmobile one is the way to go if you want to do that.

There are no AT&T bootloader unlocked note 4. Sim unlock is easy, but most confuse the two.
Best alternative seems to be the tmo version, which is only missing a couple bands.

Verizon Note 8 on AT&T - Current Status?

Dear Friends,
Hope everyone is well. As a side effect of having wealth of knowledge, reading through the forums here I believe the answer to my question is still, "yes" however, I would still like to confirm and make sure:
If I buy a Verizon Note 8 today, whether it's from Ebay, Swappa, Craigslist and etc and whether the user did or did NOT update to the latest Bootloader version and firmware version (Oreo)... Is it still possible to use some combination of firmware, Bootloader, CSC and etc to convert the Verizon Note to an AT&T Note or the unbranded US Note 8 and still have unrestricted, full functionality on AT&T?
If, yes, indeed, can you please point me to the right guide and files so that I can go through my purchase?
Appreciate your help in advance!
Any input, friends? Trying to buy a Note 8 based on your expert opinions ?... Thanks!
I converted my VZW note 8 to AT&T and used it flawlessly for a few months. This was before Oreo was released. I've since switched it back to VZW.
While on AT&T, volte & wifi calling worked as well.

It is always best to get the carrier brand you intend to be on....
But if you can't pass on a deal, yes you can follow switching carrier guide to turn a Verizon Note into an ATT Note....
On the one hand if you need to move between carriers or around the world, it be better to get the Verizon phone even for the AT&T network because it gives you CDMA + Quad-Band GSM. If you are going to stick with one carrier, if you get a newer phone, it will probably support 100% of their current and soon-to-be bands while the Verizon might only support 90%. That might make a difference in aggregation. Depending on the company, they might not allow you to use aggregation or VOLTE or Wi-Fi calling without their branded phone, although ajent above has had luck with at least 2 out of 3 of those by using a Verizon phone on an AT&T network.

Recommended Rootable Verizon Phones?

Hello, I have been with Verizon the last few years and I'm in the market for a new phone. I see on SlickDeals that there is a deal for the Verizon Samsung S10/S10+, but after reading through some of the posts, it seems you can't root the Verizon S10/S10+.
Since I don't need the latest and greatest phone from Verizon, are there any 'older', new in-store models that can be rooted so that I can install a custom ROM, etc?
Thanks in advance!
Your best bet is to get another phone that's not Verizon branded and just activate it on Verizon. You'd be going back a few years to get a Verizon phone that's rootable.
Thank you for this information... a couple of things getting another phone that is not Verizon branded:
- Previously, one would need to make sure they get a 'CDMA' (vs GSM) phone, but is there any technology, etc I need to look for when trying to find a non-Verizon phone?
- I assume if I get a 'non' branded Verizon phone, that some of the Verizon specific features may not work, e.g. WiFi calling, etc?

I can only answer the 2nd part of your question. Once you activate it on a Vzw sim you can flash Vzw firmware and get all the same features

Thanks for this... that makes sense. The only other things is regarding the Verizon frequency bands - I'm guessing some phones may not have or support all of the Verizon frequency bands.
