[HELP] A5_DUG; CIDL 622 Lollipop Wifi and Touch Problem - Desire 816 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
So Basically, I have the following information:
Model: HTC D816 Dual Sim
CID : HTC__622
Current FW xxx 2.40
Rooted, has TWRP recovery.
I flashed the TWRP backup from here (from kitkat using TWRP)
So basically, I did a clean wipe from dalvik to internal storage.
Restored the back up and it booted up.
BUT.. wifi is not turning on and there are touch problems.
So I'm asking if someone here is willing to help me with this. Or is there any flashable ZIP to directly upgrade to Marshmalllow so I can skip this problem? Other says that jumping to MM will have the wifi problem remains.
Please help. Thanks in advance!

Anyone with a working CM11 on Z1c ?

Hello
I unlocked my bootloader with sony provided key and I followed the tutorial here http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_amami to install CM11 M8 snapshot.
Since I did everything as stated, I can't figure out why I can't stop a bootloop to happen.
When I tried to reflash I noticed that the wipe of DATA apparently fails because CWM can't mount data.
Previously I used the duallocked recovery hack and I had a stock rom rooted.
Could it be because I flashed a 4.4.3 gapps file and cm11 M8 is 4.4.4 ??
Anyway, apart from reflashing a stock rom, what can I do ??
Thanks for answers
Nico.

I think I read some users reports that CyannogenMod M8 isn't working well for amami,
but all older releases were working fine.
Yes, accepted the M8 is not too good ....

After unlocking bootloader you need to wipe data/media, in order to format the internal storage which is wiped in the unlocking procedure. And yeah, go with nightlies for now I'd say. Working fine for me!

Lg G3 Verizon Jasmine Rom abort/fail

I have successfully rooted my Verizon G3 and installed TWRP 2.8.0.0 without problems. When in recovery I can complete a successful wipe prior to attempting the Jasmine rom flash. When I initiate the Rom install I continuosly get a zip verification failure and thed process aborts. What am i doing wrong? I dont have an sd card in during the process and the zip files are on internal storage. Please help.
Did You Flash 1.0.0?
You have to flash 1.0.0, then 1.0.1. You can flash them both at once, but put 1.0.0 in first. If that is not it, I don't know what to tell you. You may have more luck posting in the thread on the ROM.
I see that Jasmine ROM just put up a version 1.1 yesterday. If you are using that one, disregard my post above about flashing 1.0.0 first. I would post directly in the thread on Jasmine to get better help.

[Q] Help please! CM12 won't install. Keeps aborting...?!

So I'm trying to install Cyanogenmod 12 onto my HTC Desire 816 and it keeps starting the install and then almost instantly aborting it.
I have the UK unlocked variant, single sim a5_dug so it's a supported model as far as I'm aware. My bootloader is unlocked, s-on, I have a custom recovery but do not have SuperSU installed and I am currently not using any custom ROM or kernel, just the stock HTC ones (CM would be my first custom ROM).
I make a back up for my current ROM using CWM.
I then format/factory reset using CWM.
I then clear the cache partition using CWM.
I then clear the Dalvik cache again, using CWM.
And then I go to install via zip using CWM, select the latest nightly (which I downloaded from the CM website) for the Desire 816 and then as I stated, it almost instantly aborts.
I've tried this 3 times now and the same results keep happening. Luckily I backed up first obviously so I don't have a bricked phone. But I would like to give Cyanogenmod a try.
Does anyone have any advice? It'd be greatly appreciated!

Unlocking your boatloader and S off are 2 separate things so the answer is yes. Set up a developers account at HTC.dev and after getting it unlocked you can flash TWRP custom recovery official root your phone using ADB/fastboot on a P.C. then download onto your phones internal memory the SuperSU flashable zip file then flash it from your newly installed custom recovery using the " install button" , select sdcard then scroll down until you find the SuperSU zip and select then swipe to flash it. Clear cache and dalvik cache then reboot system and look for the SuperSU app in your app folder. After flashing TWRP I'd do a full stock nandroid backup of your stock rom . Enable compression and allow MD5 check and name your backup "stock" and select micro SD card as the backup location not your internal storage .
Only after all that should you try to flash a custom rom. That way your can restore your stock rom if anything goes wrong. Below is a link to a root forum but in it I have video links and instructions, toward the end of the forum under my posts , for unlocking the 816's boatloader. The forum recommended CWM exe custom recovery but I prefer TWRP zip file flashed using ADB/fastboot.

Thanks for replying thoctor.. Actually I'm using htc mobile first time. I have few queries.
1)WiFi Hotspot option is disabled in my mobile. Is there is any way to enable WiFi Hotspot?
2) is root is required to enable WiFi Hotspot?
3) if I root mobile, is it possible to update lollipop 5.0.
4) If I update mobile to stock 5.0, can I able to unlock bootloader and install CM 12 on it?

1) not without rooting your device
2) yes, first you root your device then you find a WiFi tethering app that works for your carrier. Be careful with using this feature though because some carriers have ways of tracking your usage and knowing that you are tethered without buying their tethering plan. If you use it sparingly you'll probably be fine. In with Virgin Mobile on a limited 4g/3g plan then they throttle so I decided not to use this feature but many do just be careful in using it. Just my opinion.
3) your could but you would need to unroot your device first through your SuperSU app.
4) That's what I would do first. Do your stock updates before rooting then unlock boatloader and flash TWRP then do stock nandroid backup through TWRP to micro SD card ,not internal storage, then flash SuperSU to complete root. Also try to find here or on the web a flashable zip for your versions stock recovery and keep it and a copy of your stock firmware zip or RUU (rom recovery utility) on your computer in a folder. Label it for your phone model as a backup to your nandroid backup on your phones micro SD card. You never know when they could come in handy as a backup to your backup.
Means first i have to update stock Rom to 5.0 ,then unblock boot loader and install recovery. After that install CM12.

You don't have to but it's a good idea to. That way when you back up your stock rom after installing TWRP recovery it's your most recent stock version. You could just back up your kitkat after unlocking boatloader and custom recovery install but I would do any stock updates first, especially to lollipop. Also between " install recovery" and "install CM12" there should be "backup stock rom to micro SD card" then "flash SuperSU zip file from custom recovery." Sure you knew that but just for the record and any future readers of this forum. Any other questions you want answered ? You are asking all the right ones so that's good.
Also just break everything down to small steps because that's what they are. From downloading ADB/fastboot( android toolkit) to unlocking your boot loader to flashing custom recovery and then SuperSU. Their all kind of hand in hand and it was easier for me to get tunnel vision before doing all of this to my phone, which is the Sprint variant as well( virgin mobile.)
Thanks for providing necessary information.

Your very welcome. Others here have helped me in the past and I'm just trying to return the favor. Good luck and let me know if you need anything else. Also when you unlock your boot loader choose "all other supported devices" not " Desire 816" to get the first token. Not sure why the model specific one didn't work but choosing the former fixed the problem for me.
I have updated to stock Rom 5.0.After that I unlocked boot loader and install twrp 2.8.4.0.Then flash super user zip.I download root checker from play store and checked that my Mobile have proper root access.but I am unable to install busy box on my mobile. Also I am unable to use WiFi hotspot on my mobile. In addition to that I am unable to backup stock ROM using nandroid backup or titanium backup. My mobile reboots if I try to backup my ROM using nandroid or titanium backup.pls help me to install cm 12 on my mobile.
Same problem if I install CWM recovery.

Titanium backup installs it's own busybox so don't install another version over that one. Uninstall any other version downloaded from the play store first. To fully utilize Titanium backup I believe you need write permissions to the system partition using a write permission mod to be able to backup the app and its data. The nandroid backup is a different issue and shouldn't be related to TWRP as it's the preferred custom recovery for our phone's and you stated you have also tried CWM. Flash a newer version of TWRP( 3.0 is out for our phone's and I've flashed it to my a5_chl version and it works fine so far with mine.) Also you might try a factory reset or at a minimum wipe your cache and dalvik cache in your custom recovery then try the nandroid backup again enabling compression and MD5 check but not encryption. Also select the micro SD card as the backup location not internal storage.
EDIT: sorry, I forgot the Wi-Fi hotspot issue. You just need to try multiple apps that enable this feature with root. Some work with some phone's and others do not. I don't use this hack as my carrier is actively on the lookout for certain types of traffic to identify tethering but yours might be different. Your also way back there in your TWRP version as well( 2.8.4.0 is 3 or 4 versions too old.) Flash at least version 2.8.7.0 and try to backup again after wiping cache and dalvik.

Your welcome buddy. Glad it finally worked for you. Not trying to sound like a broken record but don't install any play store busybox apps. I've had nothing but problems with them on my device's( bootloops, restarts etc..). Just install Titanium backup and it will install it's own busybox that works fine for me on multiple devices and you'll be fine. Good deal on your backup working also. That can be a life saver or at the least a time saver down the road. Good luck.
OK, I ll install titanium backup and take back up. Thanks.

HTC 10 - Stock ROM recovery - Soft Bricked

Hi all,
I have an HTC 10 with:
kernel: lk
product: htc_pmeuhl
version: 1.0
version-main: 1.95.401.4
version-baseband: [email protected]
version-bootloader: 1.0.0.0000
mid: 2PS620000
cid: HTC__034
S-ON
Here's my problem.
I unlocked the bootloader, flashed latest TWRP recovery, did a full back up of Stock ROM (with TWRP Backup). Then I flashed latest SuperSU (which is supposed to not mess up the HTC 10 encryption). After that I flashed Viper10 4.1.0 ROM, which I didn't like (wasn't working well on my phone), so I wanted to get back to my stock ROM.
I went to the TWRP Restore, and reflashed the Stock ROM backup I had created before. After booting the Stock ROM was being stuck on "Decrypt your device with a password" screen. Then I decided to flash Viper10 again, and this time when I did it, it boots into and android screen saying: "Decryption Unsuccessful - Reset Phone". Clicking "reset the phone" doesn't change anything. I tried flashing the Stock ROM backup again, but TWRP says: "Unable to mount storage". Therefore I'm stuck with an unlocked bootloader, TWRP Recovery, and no working ROM.
So my understanding is that there's some mess up with the device encryption. I can see three potential options of how to fix it, but I need your help, because I'm afraid I'll brick it completely.
OPTION 1:
-The easiest would be just flashing a Stock RUU.exe for my CID/MID, this way I'd go back to full stock. However I cannot find an RUU for my firmware version: 1.95.401.4. I have S-ON, so from what I understood, I cannot do a downgrade to a lower RUU Firmware.
-What happens if I upgrade my firmware by flashing RUU with a different SKU? (e.g. 1.95.401.4 -> 2.28.617.8 which is available on HTC support site)
-Is there a way to change my CID/MID, so that I could flash Stock RUU for Unlock/Developer models?
OPTION 2:
I want to try the following:
-Format Data in TWRP (in order to get encryption off)
-Now that there's no encryption I guess I won't get "Unable to mount storage" message
-Restore backup of my Stock ROM TWRP Backup
-But I'm afraid of bricking my device completely this way, also since I read it can mess up your radio.
OPTION 3:
-Get the S-OFF somehow, from bootloader? Is it even possible? The only way I saw was through SunShine app, but I need a working ROM for that.
-Then I can downgrade my Firmware, using available Stock RUU.exe for my CID/MID (e.g. 1.95.401.4 -> 1.80.401.3)?
Really hope someone can guide me through this process. Please let me know if there are any other available option in this situation, and if the Option 2 is worth trying?
Btw, I dont care about losing data on my phone, there's nothing important there.
Thank you,
Djotto.
Hope you got your stock backup on your external sdcard or somewhere backed up on your PC.
Yes, you need to format data in TWRP, to get rid of the encryption. Else the TWRP can't mount /data.
Formatting data wipes your internal sdcard...since you already messed up any data on there is lost already, since you'll never be able to decrypt it again.

Hey j,
Thanks for the advice. With the help of amazing guys at Venom Support IRC channel, and your advice, I went ahead and formatted data in TWRP, then I flashed Viper 3.5 ROM Android M (unlike Viper 4.2 ROM Android N before that), and it worked like a charm.
Btw, just for the record, I figured out that Venom 4.2 didn't work very well for me, since I have Android M firmware, now Venom 3.5 works really well, its amazing, I'm not going back to the stock HTC 10 ROM
Thank you once again!
