I need help, please!
My Note 7 started shutting down on its own. Now whenever I boot the device, it tells me "To start up your device, enter your password."
Problem is, I don't know which password it's referring to.
I don't flash any ROMs or root. Just stock Samsung stuff.

All Samsung phones ask u for a password or pattern when you restart. It is referring to tge one you created at the time of setting up your finger print
Sent from my SM-N930F using Tapatalk
The thing is, I never created a password! I have always left it as swipe to unlock. I use the LED cover case, so it unlocks as soon as I open the case.

Oh great. After trying several passwords, it tells me to restart the device and now it goes into restarts over and over at the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 logo. I don't see the password screen anymore.

Thanks.
My device just went crazy. But it miraculously allowed me to get back into Android as usual. Needless to say, backed up everything. And now it's back to crazy.
Now to decide whether to bring it to Samsung now or wait for the Note 7 exchange.
This issue is somehow related to the boot loop issue that is being experienced by some. And me. One of my Note7 is showing this prompt once in a while when it gets into boot loop. Then when I key in the Android unlock PIN, it says its wrong. What I am doing now if I encounter this prompt is to hard reset (Power + Vol Down buttons) the unit.
i had this issue during set up.. i just swapped out my sim card with my old one and it worked lol. haven't had this happen after set up though. factory reset?
My unit is completely busted. Samsung actually suggested I bring it for the recall exchange instead of repairing it.
So currently, they've loaned me a Galaxy S6 to tide me over.
Now I wonder, even when I get my replacement Note 7, the phone is still susceptible to the boot loop issue, right? This don't seem to be related to the faulty battery at all.
I emergency reinstalled custom ROM through SMART SWITCH, and rooted my phone, added TWRP and installed SuperMan ROM, In the time I did this I never applied a single password/code/pin/fingerprint. Now when I turn on the phone, it comes up with "To start up your device, enter password", I still have gone through and tried every password I could think of and not a single one worked. Now I can't use my phone at all. please help.

Same here, I also am getting the "dm-verity verification failed/need to check drk first" error... My device (SM-N930FD) was neither flashed with custom ROM nor rooted... Suspecting the issue lies in the N930FXXU1BPH6 firmware...

This is a complete brick error. You cannot fix it not even a service centre can. I have spent serious hours trying since about 10 days ago it is not worth the hassle trust me. You'll just have to wait for your replacement
Try "default_password". I tried it on my S7 and it worked!

Oh sorry lads, well good luck anyways.
Naw it's okay. Thanks for helping out.
I'm now encountering the same problem after installing the system upgrade of 60% max charging for my note 7. My phone is instructing me to enter a password but I never installed any password whatsoever from the start. These Note 7s are giving us too much problems and inconvinience!

Go have it exchanged.
I asked Samsung and they said it's a "firmware issue".
Unbelievably, they couldn't recover my data inside. Luckily I made frequent backups in the cloud.
I love the Note 7, but I think this might very well be the last non-removable battery phone I'll ever get.

Hi all,
I got my Nexus Prime today. I'm quite impressed, but it has a problem that's driving me mad.
When I first turned on my handset and entered my Google username it tried to download all the old apps from my previous Android handsets - I didn't ask it to nor did I want it to! Anyway, this failed part way through and none of the apps actually installed.
Since owning this device a few hours ago I cannot install anything through the Android market at all. I keep getting told that the download failed due to an error, but nothing further.
I've tried rebooting the handset but nothing appears to be able to be downloaded.
I can download from other sources, for example I downloaded the Swype installer and that installed fine, from the Swype website (Swype states it's not compatible with this handset!)
I'm not sure if this is a general bug or if there's something wrong with my individual handset but it would be interesting to see if anyone else has this problem?
Hi I had this problem too, unfortunately clearing cache and data from Market doesn't do anything (at least for me), I had to do a factory reset, worked for me and my friend who also had the same problem.
Damn, after an evening of customising my handset I was hoping not to have to do that.
So it appears we've discovered an issue with this handset.
Yep, that fixed it.
Annoying though..............

The way to avoid that is by skipping the initial guide and then att your account in settings instead. I agree that they should just ask you instead but the above way has worked ever since that feature was intruduced in 2.2.
Sorry for the bump but I'm having the exact same issue.
Just rooted the phone and after all apps were restored I tried downloading apps and keep getting that error.
I already did a factory reset several times and nothing. Just tried skipping the setup and adding my google accounts later but I'm still getting the same error :X
Anyone has any idea how to fix this problem? Do I have to return my phone?
It's been driving me crazy..

I seem to have managed to fix this now. I popped my sim into my old android phone, I noticed that the apn settings being used on old phone are different to those GN has setup by default for my network provider. I just copied those through to the new phone and market works again . Hope this helps someone.
Having the same issue also. I'm on Telus in Canada and the APN settings are the same on my old phone. I have done a factory reset and am still having this issue. Please help!
Are you guys rooted? If you are it could be the ROM your using?

Or just let it restore, and wait. It can take hours, let it do its thing. By tomorrow will be working again.

You are right. It's the weirdest problem I've seen but somehow it just fixed itself.. Apps install fine now (too bad I didn't know that before doing a million factory resets and deleting my settings)
Figured it out. I had to clear the proxy address in my apn settings
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
seems my Service Provider's settings where blocking downloads esp the Proxy... hmmmm
I've had this problem since yesterday, Market wont download over wifi or data network, messages 'Error while processing payment' or '... could not be downloaded due to error'
I'm running a stock GSM nexus and have tried clearing the market data and rebooting but no luck, I'd rather not have to do a factory reset if I can avoid it.
Any ideas anyone?
Hey
I've updated to 4.2.1 OTA as soon it came out (I'm on yakjuxw), and during the last few weeks the phone started freezing then restarting randomly.
another issue (had started before the random restarts) is that I couldn't shut bluetooth off (it sayd "turning off...." and didn't actually turn of while killing the battery) , and sometimes wifi as well.
I have a private store's repair service, and so I'm not allowed to install new ROMs or "play" with deep device settings as long as I want to have it (the service).
tried restoring, issue came back few days after.
any idea of how to fix it? thanks!
Dor

Thanks, but I don't really trust them (and they say it may take up to a month before I get it back...), plus the service only covers hardware issues and they can say it's a software or firmware one..
I guess restoring to 4.1 will do the magic, any help with that?

sent it to the store, they (probably) flashed it and gave it back to me on 4.0.1
when updating, it got stuck on the "Google" screen, took it to the store again, they flashed (?) it again (luckily not charging me 25$ again), and told me not to update. I've been using it for about two weeks now, and the problem's back.
Any ideas?
(p.s. the phone once showed me a "encryption failed" screen telling me I have to factory-reset it, I shut it down and turned it on again and the message was gone)

excuse me for my English, I used google translator for that.
recently bought a galaxy tab 3, SM-T210 model, and since I had received costantes crashes on screen "kernel panic upload mode", already realized trading unit for the same model and still the error occurred in the new device and all this in less than a day of use.
I wonder about people who are having the same problem and if any have a solution for this since it does not find much about it on the internet.
edit.: my firmware is official Brazilian T210XXAMF5_T210ZTOAMF1_ZTO. if the official firmware from another country does not have problems please as this is also one solution.
ps.: I've done a "hard reset."

No one knows any solution yet as of now. i guess it's not on the firmware but it's on the kernel and no one wants to discuss it anymore. I don't know why,
I tried different firmwares and made so many hard reset but it is still happening to my tablet
Glad I was able to catch this before updating my software.
Will be postponing update now.

Mine seems to work just fine now. haven't encounter the KPUM in 3 days straight. also fyi this KPUM happens all over the world.. yeah, heard that right. search "kernel panic upload mode" on twitter and see what Im talking about. (.. my tab firmware is xxamge.
I get the same message
I find that at least twice a week I switch off my Tab 3.0 7" and it will switch itself on and go into Kernal Panic Upload Mode. This will run the battery flat in 3 hours and the device gets very hot. I am mostly using Sygic and Samsung Music. I will have to ask for my money back if this keeps happening as my Tab 3 is useless with a flat battery. Very dissappointed.

Stock (AU) - not even 24 hours old
Bought mine yesterday, less than 24 hours old, have installed AVG antivirus, Glucose Buddy, NAB, Westpac & IMDB apps only. (Each of these is running on my S4 (and also on my old S2)), and got my first Kernel Panic Upload Mode a couple of minutes ago.
I did tether it to my S4 this morning, but it has been 'untethered' for the last 4 hrs prior to the panic mode thingie.
Completely stock standard - Android V 4.1.2, Kernel version 3.4.5-1256430, Build No JZ054K.T210XXAMG7
So this is a problem for all tab 3. Hope sam will fix these soon. Tab 2 is much stable

Well, whatever I did to get this new "build" was not good. I keep getting this "phone has been flashed with unauthorized software, phone has been locked" message that I cannot get rid of. Everytime I I try to Odin back to G925TUVU2COF6 I keep getting the unauthorized software message and then it keeps telling me to download this update, G925TUVU2D0G3. But basically I cannot connect to the data, phone or messaging. If I do connect via Wifi, my messaging works but not my phone. I called T-Mobile and they pretty much said I am ****ed without lube. They told me to try calling Samsung but I am not sure what to do. Also, I am not rooted, I was trying to get rooted on 5.1.1 and that is how this whole mess started.

Hello. This is locked to Bell. It already got the 60% battery update a while back.
I will NOT be using this as a phone. It will be used for other purposes like outdoor remote wifi cam or something so I need the wifi working.
Is there any way to block the Wifi / Bluetooth killing update or root it and install a custom ROM ?
Again, I don't care that they blacklist the IMEI. It won't be used as a phone. Thx.

Its not an issue according to me because if they have to disable cellular etc then it will be in form of a stability update to trick people. Your phone will be affected only if the developer of the note 7 rom uses a new base firmware. Since you have a note 5, they cant even disable your imei number just because you use grace ux. I would prefer deleting samsung push service, Fota update service & KLMS agent apks from root (There can be something i am missing. If so please specify). Perhaps it may stop those messages

Laugh, told my gf her phone may not work after 15th, she almost killed me. Shes messaging me now as we speak. Telling me how much she loves Nova luncher and how cool her phone looks now.
ahah funny how she never got the sms from rogers informing of the block.
I went over to see her yesterday. Flashed her phone again, blocked everything like mine with debloater, just in case. (she didn't have anything blocked and update never was pushed suprisingly.)
Now its fishing time. Sitting quietly, waiting to see what happens.

I thought part of the update will disable charging? That means if the juice runs out the phone won't even turn on right? Sorry for the novice questions.

Im counting the days brother.
Sitting quietly, waiting to see what happens.
p/s (ive been messaging few people on kijiji on imei fix, so far no luck.)
