So my Note 7 arrives today, firstly i was hunting round Korea trying to find one when I was there on holiday but everywhere was sold out. Then i missed the UK launch day preorders so i finally bit the bullet and ordered from from.ae
The day after i ordered Samsung made the recall announcement but the phone had already been dispatched, I now either use it and hope for the best due to it only being 35 devices so far or i pay again for shipping, custom charges etc. Taking all that into account getting it replaced would cost nearly £850
Is anyone else just keeping there note? Really stuck in 2 minds...
Yep mines made un china....no heat issues great battery life
But still on the replacement list

I guess the question is are you prepared to gamble with a possible fire or worse. Please keep in mind that if you did have a fire etc it may not only be you that is harmed but your family. If you live in an apartment you may risk the safety of other residents.
Samsung would not have made this recall unless it was 100% necessary, this goes without saying as the damage done to Samsung both financially and reputation wise is simply staggering. This disaster even affected Samsungs share price on the stock market!
I guess you could gamble if it where your life but its not, if this devices goes bang it could affect others and for that reason alone I returned mine as soon as the news broke. Be responsible please.
Apart from that by the end of the month they will be back on sale and I shall repurchase one. :good:

I was hoping it was a geographically-related batch and havent been too worried... until saw the guy from Australia post about his. Makes it much more real. Treating the thing like a dangerous object for the time being, until figure out how this whole replacement is going to work.
I would strongly recommend to give it back... If Sammy is doing a whole recall they don't know how much of the phones are effected. If they new there would be an app that showed do you need to replace it or not.

Honestly speaking, I had my doubts about the initial reports. Because the photos showed units without the Samsung logo. Then this Australia case reported earlier today.
Another article I read said that 70% of the Note 7 batteries came from Samsung SDI. The batch with the defective, exploding batteries.
So as much as I hate to say this, it's really better you send it in for an exchange.
So with the SDI announcement it does appear we can view the battery manufacturer without root. From a file browser in the root directory go to /sys/class/power_supply/battery/batt_type and open in a text editor. Unfortunately mine lists SDI
Definitely going to swap mine out when available, was really hoping i would see a different result in that file though.
I'm SDI too!!! Too nooooooo!!!

Sent From My Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Pre Release Edition
Raced down to my local Best Buy this morning when I saw they had some in stock. The guy in front of me was buying one! I asked the sales assistant if they had any more and she said "Yeah, I think we have one more left, let me find it.".
Comes back a couple minutes later and asks her manager where that last moto watch is. The manager says "Oh yeah, I bought it for myself!". You mother f.. I thought. The sales assistant replies to him "How do you sleep at night?".
Guess I'll just have to wait 2-3 weeks for mine to be shipped from Google.
The guy I dealt with at the Best Buy where I bought mine was pissed that he didn't know they got some in since he wasn't allowed to make a purchase on the clock.
Best Buy Knoxville, TN lists it as in stock online and in their site inventory system, but they know it isn't. They just can't be bothered to fix it. Asshats.

It seems like BestBuy may have only gotten the silver Moto 360s, and those may be the one's that have shipped already from Motorola.com as well. Can anyone confirm otherwise? My BestBuy's all are taking In-Store pickup orders for a future date for silver but nada for black.

Friday they had Black, but it seems today it was all silver.
Mine flat out said they only got two silver and no black, and they are the only Best Buy within 120 miles that got any at all.
So the entire stock on hand for an area with a population of over a million people and ~5 Best Buy stores was two watches.
That's pretty darned pathetic, no matter how you slice it.

Nope. I was watching over his shoulder while he queried the inventory system. Also, most of the other nearby stores are smaller, or mobile-specific.
I stand by what I said: Motorola only provided two units for a combined population over a million people. (And chances are both of those were taken by Best Buy employees, which would explain why they showed stock but had none.)

I read on here that Best Buy employees can't buy stuff during their shift, so they probably stash them away until after work - you're right, that's probably why they show as in Stock all day.
That's exactly what the guy I bought mine from did with the 2nd one they got.

Yeah, when I worked there back in the day, the system would flag if you were clocked in and made a purchase. If it wasn't something like a soda or candy (for a break), you were guaranteed to have a manager talk to you about it. In my experience, always ended in a write-up for those involved. That said, it's certainly possible it was stashed. They get caught doing that, they'll also be written up.
I worked there during the time the Xbox 360 and Wii were hit items. Employees were not allowed to purchase those items. Corporate would often restrict those purchases, and people got terminated for trying to circumvent that policy.
I work at a Best Buy in AZ. Mobile, specifically. The inventory shortage described here is accurate.

Samsung told me it would be a minimum of 3 weeks to get a replacement for my faulty Note 7. They will replace all the faulty Note 7s then restock the stores. That will be I would say around 6-8 weeks.

In Israel official launch for those who preordered should have begun tomorrow...
But now It's unclear, samsung officials have no Idea when the device is coming.
Im so disappointed, I am waiting since april for the device, and I would gladly pay for an expolding device and take that minimal risk it has a defect.
An exploding note7 is much better than my current LG G2 mini..
To be honest I think they should exchange our phones first. We are dealing with potential life/fire/explosion hazard so...
No one knows the answer to the OP's question not even, in fact especially, Samsung. WE are all going to just have to wait this one out. It will make ownership when it comes even more of a delight.
I hope they take the time to sort the CG glass problem out.

This is indeed a problem. Have you noticed though that all reviewers and many customers moan about paying 880€ for the Note 7 but no one is moaning about the cost of the iPhone 7 that is some areas is superior to the Note 7 and in other areas inferior. The iPhone 7 here would cost me 250€ MORE!
Both good mobiles and though very different will please most of their customer clientele.
I have my Note 7 on order due to exchange programme and am fortunate enough to be able to wait. I am still using my SG S6 Edge +. After using an S-AMOLED QHD screen no way could I return to IPS FHD technology, just my choice. I respect others. :good:

eh eh, what you ask me is about Cupertino marketing perception. I would go really off topic to reply on that, and would not be enough exhaustive.
Just hope Samsung will manage well this moment of crisis, otherwise from my side not big deal. Theirs Android concurrent will gain more market space, and for me this is nice as well. After all even a fragmented Android market is far more strong than Apple without Jobs.
More competition, more benefits for us, and next time samsung: do not be so greed... make telephone that can be open... all your problems would be now vanished:angel:, if you really want to give us water resistant features do a decent cover that REALLY goes under water

My Samsung Galaxy Note7 was manufactured in Vietnam on August 26th? I got the Note7 from Three UK, does that mean I am unaffected?
Seems dubious to me could be wrong but why single out one supplier (ebay seller?) bad wording errors if that was the case then why is it not posted on Samsung's sites.

Well, could be any number of reasons, maybe it just got released internally?, no idea. It does makes more sense to me that those devices affected can be identified by some sort of triage, rather than recalling all devices (which semed odd since the start). I followed the QR code and it des link to samsung website. I am not saying that this is 100% true, but it does make sense. Posted this to stop the massive Note 7 abuse before someone may regret it

I don't disagree.
However, I'd wait for tomorrow. It's the weekends here, so I'll look out for Monday for any kind of announcement.
I would really hope that this company wouldn't fake an internal letter like this. I wouldn't be surprised if Samsung took a faked letter like this extremely seriously considering the circumstances. So I'm on the fence in this one but really hope someone wouldn't take that chance. It has a customer number on it. Someone could easily call Samsung and get this verified.
Sent from my SM-N930F using Tapatalk
Fake. There is no chance they would publicly announce a world wide recall, then a day later say 'Oops, we mean world wide recall. Except for this batch of phones. Our bad.' If they where wrong about that batch of phones they would get crucified. Nope, that seller just doesn't want to deal with the headache of returning all the units they sold, and returning all that money.
So if you bought from this seller you stuck with the phone you have or file a case with eBay and get your money back since you're within 30day eBay return policy and buy another device when they are fixed. That's your only two choices.
Sent from my SM-N930F using Tapatalk
My UK Note7 pre-order was canceled on the 1st Sept, so I'm waiting to see if Samsung can narrow down affected batches and release the unaffected devices...
If you want to check the date your Note 7 or any Samsung device was manufactured type this into the phone dialer *#12580*369# the "RF Cal" field is the date of device manufacture, if that information even helps in anyway Im not sure yet.
A worldwide recall is just that. Every phone that was sold. This letter is total BS.
This is one of many reasons why eBay just even an option to buy stuff for me. If it isnt Amazonable then it's not worth it, I get you want a deal and access to unlocked devices and whatnot but eBay has and will always be that "scummy dark alley" place for sellers, and by the looks of this letter (which looks so sketchy) this is another prime example of that. I wouldn't trust this at all, looks like he's just wants to keep his money and not deal with returns.

Yes. If it were real, Samsung should fire their PR. You don't go anouncing a worldwide recall and then say whoops, we didn't mean it. And wait a whole weekend to correct it. This is a huge blow for them and it is exceptionally hard on us customers worrying we might have ticking time bombs in our possesion. If they back out of their statement after a weekend of not caring, they will ruin their reputation further. They will appear non credible. Excuse me but exploding phones warrant Samsung managment and PR works all weekend!
I agree. This letter is fake. It's a (mostly) well done fake, but a fake. IMO, it's Tropical trying to keep from having to take back all the phones they've sold.
In the US and the EU they would have little choice, in Singapore I'm not sure if they can weasel out of it or not.
I've already received my email from Amazon saying that they will send a full refund for the phone and any accessories I have purchased there. It was not this seller (Tropical) but of course as an FD model it is grey market and was sold without warranty. The email also said that if I sold the phone I should notify the person I sold it to so that they can return it for a refund. Lastly it stated that the return hadn't been hashed out yet and not to send it until they were ready.
I'm going to extrapolate a little here with a few guesses. The fact that Amazon also specifically mentioned a further buyer and my phone is already grey market implies that Samsung is going after all the phones regardless of where/how they were purchased. That they don't want me to send it yet gives me the impression they don't know exactly what they are going to do with it or how the process will go which would mean Samsung hasn't yet hashed it out internally how they will handle the grey market phones and given that information to those that sold them.
Those are guesses Gents, I have no special knowledge, I'm just reading the tea leaves.
I bought my phone from LuLu Mall here from Riyadh ( SA ).
Model is : SM N930FD
Made in Vietnam.
How we can confirm that my phone will also come under the recall process ? I have been using the device for like past 3 days and i don't feel any Lag, battery drain or Over heating while charging or using the phone.
Samsung confirms it will render the US Note 7 completely useless with next update
Samsung Excerpt:
"To further increase participation, a software update will be released starting on December 19th that will prevent U.S. Galaxy Note7 devices from charging and will eliminate their ability to work as mobile devices."
Why is Samsung pushing so hard?
What else is motivating them?
It can't just be safety? Money perhaps?
Do they need to harvest Note 7's parts?
Are they trying to rush getting all N7's before MWC and the S8 (with rumored full screen) reveal?
Are they trying to prevent return trade ups to new 2017 devices (keeping the same installment)?
This push to gimp is insane! Apple would never do it. So, what is truly motivating Samsung?
This might be it unless a Root solution is found, yes?

Looks like this is not going to affect Verizon though:
However, Verizon Communications Inc said it would not take part in the update because of the added risk this could pose to Galaxy Note7 users that do not have another device to switch to. (Reporting by Laharee Chatterjee in Bengaluru; Editing by Shounak Dasgupta)
Even still this is pretty low of them. My thinking is they are using these for parts for the next version. They probably know exactly what caused it and it is such an easy cost effective fix, they simply just need to make a few adjustments.
I'm done
Well that's it for me . Sadly I returned my note today . I'm done spending any more of my time trying to keep this phone working . I'm out so much money in accessories alone it makes my stomach turn. I am liking my Xiaomi mi mix though just wish it had a stylus.

I know no one that has had any issue... Are there any persons out there that have had a indication that there phone was going to overheat? Or something that suggested that it was not working properly at any time? Both I had seemed fine. I think it is a deal that they made with Apple, Inc. The news recently was that they did not infringe... my thoughts were this was because Sammy took a financial hit, which sent a lot of people to Apple. The new Apple phone came out just as the phone BS with the Note 7 got started.

It seems like that because I saw a news article that Samsung won a court battle against Apple

I thought that root was available for all Note 7s? I got root but then again mine is not US version.

6.3 is what I use
So when they begin blacklisting your IMEI numbers what will you do then? Come up with an IMEI solution. Seems like a lot of work just to try and stick it to "the man." How did you ever survive before the N7 came out?

We are the ALLIANCE!!!!
Already experiencing hardware issues with the display of my Note 10+ Unlocked 256GB Aura Glow that I bought directly from Samsung.com.
I received my device Aug 21, and two days ago 2 green vertical lines appeared on the left side of my screen, right where the screen bends. Never dropped this phone, just appeared when I was checking my emails. The vertical lines do not go away when the screen is on. Even went in the boot menu to clear the cache, and the lines are just constantly present. (Picture attached)
Getting the run around from Samsung that's super disappointing. I called Samsung.com first, and they were wanting me to send my device in so they can try to repair it. Leaving me phoneless for up to 10 days.... Since I traded in my spare phone, Note 9 to get that 600 discount. I told them that's unacceptable, then remembered I also purchased Samsung Premium Care. So they told me to call them, but mentioned I may have to pay to get a replacement on a frickin phone not even a month old... So I called Premium Care, and they are unsure of the situation, and have to work with Samsung.com in getting this defective device warrantied.
So they gave me a claim # and told me they will contact me in the next few days with a plan... I'm so disappointed with Samsung over this situation. Just wanted to share this info in case this display issue happens to someone else. Will update on how Samsung is going to take care of their defective device.
Anyone else have experience getting their devices warrantied when purchased directly from Samsung.com?

I'd go through whatever wireless service you're using like T-mobile, Verizon, etc, talk to a supervisor if you don't get anywhere with a regular representative....and see if they can do anything. It's so damn ridiculous what you're going through. If your mobile provider can't do anything, then I would call your bank or whatever credit card you charged through and file a dispute against the charge, tell them what all is going on and that Samsung refuses to do anything and send the thing back and then go get one at Best Buy or something. I've heard nothing but horror stories with Samsung.com and going through Samsung to buy directly from them.
OP purchased the phone directly from Samsung.com, as stated in the first sentence. How is the carrier involved in this? I would call Samsung, speak to manager and request new phone be send to me and return old one after receiving replacement. I would probably give them my CC as a warranty that I will send the phone back, instead of keeping both. Another option would be to buy some cheap phone (I've seen some for less than $100) and use it as backup. I keep my old Note3 as a backup for years and actually needed to use it on at least 4 different occasions and it still works great. The last option maybe look for Samsung store or service place in the area and deal with them in person?
Thank you for the reply. That's a good idea, return it and buy one from Best Buy. I really wish I kept my Note 9, I did wait until the last day to mail it out just in case. I got the unlocked version since I'm in the process of switching from T-Mobile to Spectrum Mobile because they use Verizon's network and it's only $14/mo if I go by the gig since I tend not to use much data since I keep everything downloaded on my phone. Especially since T-Mobiles network is unbearable in my area. I will give Apple credit with being able to just walk in the store with an issue.
I use to run Google Nexus devices until Pixel came out with their subpar 1st phone. I was so pissed I bought a iPhone the next day haha. When I had hardware issues they just swapped my iPhone. However I got tired of them after a couple years and missed android. So I went Note ever since without any issues until now (N8 & N9 were flawless). My Grandma is still using my Nexus 5 (LG), and my Mom is using my Nexus 6 (Motorola) still today. Sorry for the ramble lol.

Thanks man, I totally forgot there's a store near me inside one of the Best Buy's. I'll stop by and just see if he can do anything. Yeah may just need to get a cheapo to use, depending what I hear back from Samsung Premium Care.

Going to Samsung store is probably best option, because he can verify right then and there the phone is defective and needs to be replaced under warranty? But I never had warranty issues with any of my phones, so no personal experience in "how it should work" against "how it actually works"

Yeah definitely, I'll post back what I find out. That would be so nice just to swap out on the spot. I also found out I have a authorized repair shop in my state of Ohio. However it's like 90mins away... FML haha
