Disable selfie shutter sound on Nexus 5x - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I disabled my shutter sound by renaming 2 camera ogg files under system/media/audio/ui and that works for rear facing camera.
However my selfie front facing camera still makes a sound. What gives? Did I miss something?

Ideas anyone?

It probably doesn't use system sounds for that tone. You will probably need to decompile the apk and replace the sound file with one that has no audio.

Missing features?

Maybe it's just me but I've noticed this phone doesn't have some basic feature like most “dumb phone" have. I can't seem to find a timer and I can figure out how to turn off shutter noise even if I put the phone in vibrate or silent mode. I know you can download a timer from market but would of been nice to include in the phone.

Simply use the volume rocker when the camera is open to silence the shutter.

The whole point of Android is to customise how you want it. That's why it more or less comes with all of Google's apps and no other apps (by it I mean Google's phones).
Yea. Android has never had a timer by default.

/system/media/audio/ui/
camera_click.ogg
camera_focus.ogg
delete/rename those two and it'll remove focus & shutter sound. CM7 had the feature to disable shutter sound, should expect it in CM9.

[Q] Shutter lag

I'm curious what kind of shutter lag does the camera have? I have a Galaxy S3 now and am pretty happy with the almost zero shutter lag. Is the shutter lag on the Note 2 comparable to the S3?
Thanks
I think they have the same camera whatsoever

As fast as eye blink.
If you go to the 16:15 mark in this video you can see the camera being used

Seems pretty quick.

[Q] Camera Video Effects

Did the camera video effects remove in 4.2?
yes, it's no longer in the video camera setting...
however, luckily, at least it's still with the gtalk...
I loved those effects. Hoping they come back bin a future release.

Autofocus sound?

After the upgrade to jb 4.2 the autofocus sound is no more present... Is it a bug? When I installed the apk of the new camera on 4.1.1 it was there...

run 4.2 no focus lock sound too but you get two little green indicators// I also noticed when you select photos in gallery app you don't get haptic feedback.. it used to kick feedback even when Vibrate to touch is unselected in settings
The sound file is in
/system/media/audio/ui
camera_focus.ogg

Same here. Haven't had a focus sound since the 4.2 camera leaked. Audio file is where it is supposed to be. No big deal, but definitely an aosp bug

Gs3 camera clicking?

When i push on the camera with little force it makes a clicking noise. Phone is only 2 months old. Camera works fine still. Wondering anyone else has this problem?
