Maybe it's just me but I've noticed this phone doesn't have some basic feature like most “dumb phone" have. I can't seem to find a timer and I can figure out how to turn off shutter noise even if I put the phone in vibrate or silent mode. I know you can download a timer from market but would of been nice to include in the phone.

Simply use the volume rocker when the camera is open to silence the shutter.

The whole point of Android is to customise how you want it. That's why it more or less comes with all of Google's apps and no other apps (by it I mean Google's phones).
Yea. Android has never had a timer by default.

/system/media/audio/ui/
camera_click.ogg
camera_focus.ogg
delete/rename those two and it'll remove focus & shutter sound. CM7 had the feature to disable shutter sound, should expect it in CM9.

I use Sound Manager V2 on the market. It's free.....
Get Quick Settings from the Market for free. Open it, go to Volume Control, tick the check box at the top and then click Set. Back out of the app and never worry about it again.
i use Widgetsoid 2 from Market
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.jim2

Very easy to do with Tasker. Costs a bit though, but there's a lot you can do with it.

yes very easy but not the same implementation
with taker i need to do two profile to put/remove silent based on device position
the implementation on samsung touchwiz/htc sense make phone silent only with one motion and only when you do it. I think that with Tasker, if I accidentally put phone on face down (and not voluntary) i'll lost ringtone..
I haven't tested it but this is one choice

yea you can do it without tasker without randomly silencing the ringtone, you can set it to only work when your phone is ringing

After you flash AOKP roms, there is an option for you to take photos with power button. Although it is still a little weird.

Hi,
There is a bunch of camera apps on the Play Store allowing it...:
Camera ICS+:https://play.google.com/store/apps/...xLDEwMiwiY29tLm1vYmx5bnguY2FtZXJhaWNzcGx1cyJd (approximates the stock camera in look with more settings).
After:Vignette,Camera Zoom FX,Shot Control,Pro Capture,Camera 360,etc...
All the camera apps (or almost) can settings hardware button to take picture.
Am I the only one who is sad that the Stock Camera doesn't have an on screen shutter? I wish it did. It has so many more customizable options than a third party app like Camera Zoom FX or UCam. Sometimes it is awkward trying to hit that tiny little shutter button. Especially chasing a 2 year old. Any thoughts?
Doesn't it have like power or volume shutter

No. That would be awesome too. Apparently I dont have the correct Kernel that supports the MIUI Camera with the power button shutter. That would be very streamlined.

Certain roms have the power/volume shutter button option but I'm pretty sure that the camera ICS app has that option too.. And there is a free version in the play store

Are you on stock tw? I thought it had that option. Haven't used tw since last month but aokp has the power button option.

I'm on the Darkside Evolution v8. The camera that comes with it doesn't hVe it. I'll check out the ICS camera in the play store. See what it has. .
:Update: The ICS Camera in the Play store has the ability to use volume button as the shutter. It works well. I wish it had more custom options but it fits the bill. Thanks !

After the upgrade to jb 4.2 the autofocus sound is no more present... Is it a bug? When I installed the apk of the new camera on 4.1.1 it was there...

... Nothing?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
run 4.2 no focus lock sound too but you get two little green indicators// I also noticed when you select photos in gallery app you don't get haptic feedback.. it used to kick feedback even when Vibrate to touch is unselected in settings
The sound file is in
/system/media/audio/ui
camera_focus.ogg
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Same here. Haven't had a focus sound since the 4.2 camera leaked. Audio file is where it is supposed to be. No big deal, but definitely an aosp bug
