Hi,
For one or two week, when my op3 lost network, it can not reconnect.
I have to reboot or remove/reinsert sim card.
Since I have no network in my bedroom, every morning I have to reboot it.
I wonder if it is not related when it has no network for a few hours.
Do you have any idea where it could comes from? I'm still using stock rom
Thanks
Give a time it will reconnect when it will catch good reception. It just taking a time....
Hmm I let it for one hour and it does not :/

Oh it's definitely bad. Did you update your firmware to the latest?
Well I'm still with stock rom but indeed there was an update a few days ago and problems might have started at same time.
But I find no one with the same issue
Look...update to latest firmware. Factory reset.
If it will be the same thing than u have to return your phone.
Turn Airplane Mode on and then off and it should get it.

i have bought a brand new defy. unboxed it and started using it....
within a day of using it, it started randomly rebooting time and again.....
now it reboots like once in every five minutes....
its brand new, i havent installed any apps as yet....
tried doing a factory reset but that didnt work too....
what might be the problem?
any help would be greatly appretiated...
thanks
You have tried Stock Recovery rite???, Root and try other ROM...Best of Luck
RMA it if possible, I did that and got a new one that's working fine.
also my battery gives me 4-5 hrs usage Max....
i guess i'll just go for an RMA
Moto problems..
take it to the moto guys. they will replace it.
Anybody knows where to initiate a RMA in Germany?
Curious, but have you tried rebooting without your SIM? Also, have you moved to a different location so you would be accessing a different cell tower?

no i havent tried rebooting without my sim. i will do that and let you know what happens.
Another thing that i've noticed is that... i dont face the rebooting problem when i connect the phone to power....it happens only when its on battery power.....
i am always on the move so i keep switching towers.... it reboots randomly regardless of location/tower...
I wrote this guide a long time back. It took me a long time to find out why it happens. Finally did it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=956659
Before doing anything try the 3G fixes and change the radio bands. Then if it does not work try to return it safely in case there is a hardware issue. If this continues, do what i have told in that thread.
@Scrannel...
i tried rebooting without the SIM. Kept it on for 4 hours and it didnt reboot....
i put the sim back in and it goes back to how it was rebooting once in every 2-5 mins
so what do u suggest i do?
anyone?.. .. ..
Maybe the problem belongs to the type of SIM card you are using.
I had the problem that with a sim card of the type number N5 my Defy reboots randomly but with the older type N3 everything is fine.
Perhaps you can get a different SIM from your provider.
definitely m gonna get my sim changed.... thanks
A few problems with 2.17 / 4.0.4
After i installed the update 2.17 i notice that my wifi is even worse. I have i good connection with my Dynalink D635 router. So i don't think it is a hardware problem. But wifi works just sometimes. It was the same with 1.29, but al lot beter Now i loses his connection and than it come back, but mostly there is no data-stream at all.
Also the GPS is not working fine anymore. Lost connection a the time. It was working fine with 1.29 .....
The radio (connection with G/3G/H) is also worse. And sometimes he lose my sim-card and even goes into flight-mode??
HTC, i dont know what you are doing over there, but i have to say that this product is absolutly not what i suspected. I waited for the 2.17 to give the product a second chance, but it is even worse
Basic question. Still, have you backed up and tried Factory restore?
recently my phone doesn't read the SIM after a few hours of use. Says there's no SIM.

agree with the first comment. Can't confirm yet WIFI performance but GPS is now really bad. It was working great on 4.0.3 same as WiFi

I used only files from the instalation guide. No other modifications
CUSTOM ROMMERS
Just ensure you have installed the rom correctly, aswell as flashing the right boot.img for 2.17.401.2, then although it seems like a pointless task, please do well to include the command 'fastboot erase cache' before AND after the flash of the boot.img, just to be sure we don't have any kernel bits left behind. You could also go the extra mile and clear the dalvik cache in your custom recovery...
STOCK ROMMERS
You should ensure that your update was successful (check this in settings > about > software information) If the software version is 2.17.XXX.X
Then the update was successful, just double check your radio/baseband is what its supposed to be which is 2.1204.135.20 (i think)

I have a good question: Did you drop the phone recently or otherwise do anything to push the phone case down? It sounds like you crushed all the antenna contacts or your case just isn't seated right.
SIM losing contact would suggest that the SIM pins aren't fitted snugly against the SIM. You can either put tape on the sim to get to to fit more snugly or send it in for warranty repair.

I did not drop the phone, or did something strange with it. The only thing i want from a device that costs € 500,00 is that everything is does work.
I've have experienced a drop in mobile network signal after the 2.17 update. Haven't tested GPS but WiFi seems alright. I have not dropped the phone nor done anything unusual to it, just updated. Before, I had 5 bars/full signal all the time, and when I checked battery stats the network signal indicator throughout the day was green. Now, after the update the indicator is yellow and I have around 1-3 bars if signal.
Also, I'm in Denmark so I got the 1.29.xxx.12 update which was supposed to optimize signal strength. So right now I hope they are working on a similar fix.

The Custom ROMMERS part worked for me.
I had the same Problem. Just checked after a half hour and it still works.
Just try this method
Dear all,
I was using the Lee-droid rom. I switched to insert coin rom 9.xx and even tried the android revolution rom. In both I had the same problem. Using wifi I have almost no data although the signal is strong. It just keeps trying to synchronize like for hours. But for some reason whatsapp conncection works and no problems there, but when it comes to loading the play store it takes ages (5 min. plus). I already searched the internet for solutions but haven't found one. When I use my providers internet, it also just keeps trying to synch (and for some reason never seems to complete??) internet is also really slow and it used to be faster on mobile as wel as wifi. Is anyone else experiencing this?
I am really desperate to get this working, I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
Edit: Confirmed that wifi does drop out sometimes and cant seems to get a signal although im standing right next to the router. But when I have wifi, I have a great connection, but almost no data, only whatsapp seems to work.
I can also confirm taht after the 2.17xxx update wifi is droping a lot. Didn't had that problem on 1.29. Also there are other issues but it will probably be best if I open a new thread or someone else does that, just for the sake that htc will read it and make our phones better

To me, your issues sound like radio related issued, although I could be wrong. You both on custom roms? With custom recoveries? I suggest if 1.29 worked better signal wise that you flash that radio in your custom recovery. That might improve your signal. Its basically different for everyone which radios work the best so basically it's trial and error.
Lemme know how you get on

I'm not sure if it's the same problem but i've been having a strange issue for a while. I believe is started when I began using jellybean roms (Not 100% sure). My phone will work for a day or two with no issues and then I just suddenly lose my gsm/3g connection. Numerous restarts later and if still doesn't work. Can't use it as a phone at all. If I reflash or change the rom, my connection works again for a few days and then then same thing happens. I'm having to reinstall roms every few days to have a working phone. I did have the pogo battery cover on for most of that time. Last time it happened, I removed the cover and I suddenly had a connection. I've left it off since, hoping it was just that but sadly not. Happened again to me just now

Hi, have you flashed any different radios? What's your current software version and does your Wifi drop as well? Or is it just mobile data?
After the 2.17 OTA update, the signal is always medium...but now there r no call drops or loss in signal

That happened to my previous phone too. I had to reboot my phone 6-7 times to get connected. And sometime, I didn't receive call unless I keep the phone awake. T-Mobile sent me a replacement, but I had to pay $20 for shipping and exchange fee. My new phone has no problem so far. There are a few complain on T-Mobile Support site about the same kind of issue.

update to my question
I found the problem. I had (wifi calling only) on because I was low on minutes hopes this may help someone else
Hey all. I need some advice. This morning my G3 (D850) dropped WiFi connection for no reason. It says the signal is good but the network info says saved, secured. It will attempt to connect over and over again and if it does connect the signal is weak as can be and it drops the connection within 2 seconds. My coworker has a G3 also and is connected to the same work network I am. His connection says excellent where as mine said good. His device connects just fine with full bars. I'm baffled. I've already tried manually selecting 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz instead of auto select and that didn't help at all. I've tried manually turning off WiFi and turning it back on. I've tried turning airplane mode on and then off to refresh the connection and that didn't help. I've done a battery pull as someone in one of the android authority forums suggested that (apparently I am not the only one having this issue.), didn't work. I've unchecked WiFi optimization - no dice. There was another post on a different forum here on XDA that said turning off WiFi and then deleting the WiFi config folder located in data/etc/wifi and then rebooting fixed the issue for them so I tried that. After reboot when I tried to turn on WiFi my G3 rebooted itself. Does it everytime. SO, I had to restore to a nandroid backup (btw I'm on rooted stock 10f) to get the phone to stop hating my WiFi toggle attempts. Last ditch effort I did a factory reset hoping for an easy fix... Nope. I don't know what else to try. It was fine yesterday all day. This morning it was perfectly fine and then randomly started having this issue. I haven't altered any system files whatsoever. I really don't want to send my device to LG for warranty replacement so I'm hoping someone can help me out that may have had this issue and resolved it. The only difference between my device and my coworkers device is he is still on 10d and I am on 10f. That could be the issue I guess but that doesn't really explain why my device has been perfectly fine until this morning and I've been on rooted 10f for weeks. I am planning on flashing back to straight bone factory stock 10d when I get home here in a few hours from work but Idk if that will help or not. Judging from the amount of google search results of "LG G3 WiFi connection problems" this seems to be an issue for several people. I won't know if it's on the software side or hardware side until I get home but in the meantime has anyone had these issues at all? People have had success in changing to Static IP but I would have to do that for every connection I attempt to connect to and that's a pain in the a$$. Also, that does nothing to identify the root cause of the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. =)

Thanks for the reply. So it turned out my phone just randomly decided it doesn't like my work network anymore. Idk why lol. I got home and it hooked right into WiFi. Gf's WiFi and open networks as well. I call shenanigans. I went ahead and flashed back to 10d anyway though.

I am having the same issue! But it is happening in other networks too...sometimes I get the phone to connect but it only works for a while and when I check the networks it only says Saved, even if I try to connect again
Having the same issue, whether at work or home, my wifi has become near useless. I've even gone as far as trying a different ROM. Didn't work.
Same thing here
I also have tried factory reset, installed a new ROM, changed settings in my router... but the problem remains I don't know what to do anymore, I use wifi a lot!! I searched through other topics but no one seem to know how to solve it. Unfortunately my warranty already expired, I took my phone to some technicians but honestly it didn't help at all...they all said it was a software bug and I should wait for an update but if it was just that a new ROM would fix it,right?
I am not very familiar with phone hardware but I assume that if it was a hardware problem I wouldn't be able to turn it on or connect to any network, right?? (any experts here???)
Any solution is welcomed.
anyone please?? :crying:
P.S : I tried a new baseband, new kernel and new ROMs. So far, nothing changed.
I can connect sometimes but get kicked out within minutes. At other times I only get the saved, secured message.
This is happening in every network
I recently got a P3XL from B&H. It was Android 9 out of the box. The first thing I did was unlock the bootloader. Then I fully upgrade to Android 11 with May and rooted with the latest Magisk (v23). I want to use it as a secondary WAN for my home internet using USB tethering. I installed a battery charge app to keep it at 80% and set to auto USB tether in developer tools. Everything seems fine, but it loses signal every hour. Only a reboot is able to get signal back. I tried toggling airplane mode, mobile data, disabling all battery saver options, clearing network, clearing cache, and changing SIM. The data seems to last longer when I uninstalled Magisk, but It still goes out. My Nexus 5 has been going strong with this setup for years. I also tried using Automate to reboot when it loses signal, but sometimes the phone justs shuts down after the reboot command. Next Ill try: factory reset, flash image (if uninstalling Magisk left stuff), change line SIM, check mobile data when not usb tethered, convert to eSIM, or make a keep alive script. Any other suggestions is appreciated. I hope I dont have to exchange/return it. Thanks.
I recently picked one of these up and I'm having trouble with dropped signal as well. I have to airplane mode to get any signal at all when it happens. I'm thinking about flashing the factory image with the radio to see if that helps, did you find another solution?

Where did you puchase yours?
Swappa, I'm looking at a OnePlus 6T instead.
I finally got it working. I think my issue is the long use of USB tethering. On the latest Android 11 and 10 images, it would lose signal after an hour or so. Signal is restored when I disconnect it from USB. It works as expected with the latest Android 9 image. Mobile signal was still connected overnight with USB tethering enabled. It sucks that it will be two versions of Android behind. Im not sure if it was a security month patch or the baseline that nerfed USB tethering, but I dont plan to try each Android 10/11 image. I sent feedback to Google and hopefully it will be fixed by the final update for this phone. Ill try it again when the final image is released.
