Just out SD card in for the first time. Can't seem to turn this message off without unmounting the SD card. Does it go away?

OK. Delete this thread. I just needed to swipe it away!

I'm not sure if that permanently removes it, I think it came back after I restarted device, until I tapped it once. Not certain.

seems like it goes away when I clear it, and doesn't come back till next reboot.
My phone isn't here so bear with me... Did you folks long press the notification and see if you could block it? It is a standard android feature but in some system notifications it is not allowed.
Mine went away permanently after swiping it away. I've rebooted plenty of times and does not come back on.

I get a message that states:
SD Card
tap here to transfer media files
When I swipe it away it will come back later. I've already done a factory reset on the phone. I currently have a Samsung SD 64gb card that I had to get because the Sandisk was failing. I've read where some tried formatting the card but that did not work. This just started happening within the last month or so. I don't remember if I got serviced or not in the time frame but do know this is a pain in the you know what. Anyone run into this on the note 4?

So recently im getting a strange restarting of my phone right after a restart or a boot up.
It doesn't fully shut off and start up..it seems to be like a soft reboot and it just starts up the entire home screen again.
I've noticed 2 weird things on when its happening...usually when the automatic time and date update...or when USB media scan is running or is about to be complete.
I've fixed permissions ..kept my clock speed at stock.
I'm running BeastMod 4.2 with the latest Synergy kernel ...and Go Launcher Ex.
I've flashed other kernels too and it's happened with all.
Eventually ..after a few battery pulls and a bunch of full blown restarts...it stabilizes and runs like it should.
Ideas?

I was having this problem with my first SGS2 and I tried every rom out at the time and nothing worked so I just exchanged it and I haven't had any problems with the new one I got.
Mine started doing since day one.
Did yours just start or did it have that problem from the get go.
Powered by the SGSII....
It happened pretty much after my first kernel flash...and was on stock rom too. That's when I pulled the trigger to go with a custom rom hoping it would fix it.
Dang it...I don't want to have to deal trying to get it back to stock.

Haven't fixed it, just showed him how to go back to stock.
Sorry!
Do you have this problem too?

Do you mind sending me the same message too? I'm having this problem with a few different mods. I had it with Domination 2.0 and with Juggernaut 4.1. It happened really badly when I was at the airport. After I changed my phone from airplane mode to non-airplane mode, and when I started trying to do stuff soon after it started, it would go into an endless reboot loop. It wouldn't restart fully, but the screen would go off for a few seconds, then I would see my lockscreen again. It would go through this process about 4-7 times before finally stabilizing.
I really don't want to get a new phone because I just paid to have an invisible shield installed around the full body less than a week ago. Thanks!

Did you have this problem being stock or just after flashing roms?

Interesting enough.. I did a test.. I restarted WITHOUT my external SD card... and guess what... of booted up fine. Looks like I have something going on with my external card.. but it works just fine... so a conflict somewhere. I went through the card last night and deleted some stuff... but after I put the card back in... boom...started to happen again.
I'm either going to try to copy things over and format the card.. or just get a new card.
Try it out and let me know what you guys get too.

Getting a new card wont do much if the data on the card is what's causing your phone to go haywire.
Do you have apps stored on your SD card?
Sent from my Hercules using XDA App
I'm sure I have some on there... app...but I've checked any folders that seem "off"...and delted a lot of those... so mainly what's left are pics and music... haven't had a chance to format the card to see if that works... and I could be totally off base with this too. Just trying different things before the last resort of getting a replacement phone.

I have been having this exact same problem for a while now. I have tried it on three phones that I've had (original, replacement, and another new one). No matter what rom/kernel i've tried, same thing all the time. I have wiped many a times, fresh installs, formatted memory card, tried without memory card, and same thing. I have never had this problem with HTC phones and really have no idea what to do anymore. Just how weird that everything works well on stock.
Well... mine for sure is my SD card gone wonky... I've done 5 seperate no SD inserted tests... and then insert SD after its already booted up and working fine.
Once I inserted the SD... it would go through the scan and crash.
After a bunch or retries... battery pulls etc.. it finally settles down and works fine.
For yours that its not the SD... call T-Mobile... they were ready to replace mine.

If the memory card was corrupt, wouldn't the phone have issues even on a stock non-rooted phone? I'm asking cuz my phone works great on stock non-rooted, but once I root and upload a custom rom, everything goes haywire. Im trying to find out what the problem may be.
Sent from my iCrap killer
Actually this problem for me started even when I was on a stock ROM...I'm not sure how long after rooting... I wonder if rooting had something to do with it? This issue is one of the reasons why I went ahead on to a custom ROM thinking it would fix it... it was fine for a while.. then started up again.
I'm not sure. I haven't bought a new external SD yet to test my own theory.. haha

ive been having some problems with my note using memory cards properly as well. mainly with the camera app.
occasionally i would take 20 odd photos and film 30 minutes of HD footage, but the moment i tap to go on gallery, nothing has been added. when i go to check storage, no extra space has been used up. the only way i can get my device to save data again is to power it down, take out the battery, put the battery back in and power it up again. quite frustrating, but perhaps see if that fixes your problem?
Whats the speed of the card?
It is class 4

So last 4 days my phone was randomly rebooting on its own about 15-25 times a day but no battery loss during reboots I tried formatting my phone and installing different ROMs and even going back to complete stock. Nothing helped then i thought about the one thing I hadn't done take out the SD card and what do you know the random reboots have stopped. So since in knew it was isolated to the card I formatted the card thinking it would solve the problem but once I put the SD card back in my phone it began to reboot once again. So does this mean that my micro SD card is done for ?

I had the very same issue. But my phone didn't reboot it just restarted (hiccup), without the boot. I took the card out and reboot normally. I entered sd card, it restarted. I too, formatted the card. If you Google this issue, they're many fixes. I saw a YouTube video where he put the battery in and out, making connections and he said that worked for him. Another fix was letting it boot with wifi off. Mine continued until someone mentioned cleaning the battery terminals. I cleaned both my phone and battery terminals with a qtip, and now boot up normally -no more restarts.

Alright I have rebooted with WiFi off. I always have it on (home ) after cleaning the connectors with a q-tip. And doing that putting the battery in and out. So far (only been about 20 mins ) its running good. I'll update if anything else happens

It still reboots. I'm going to take it into the sprint store today.

Before I begin, know that all the searched threads are not applicable to my situation.
Upon boot of my device using ANY ROM, both stock and a few after market roms, my SD Card reports at the top "Not recognized or unsupported", but a few moments later, it all of a sudden is loaded and good to go?
I have a brand new SanDisk XDHC 16GB, the kind that are apparently water and heat proof (they make them up to 64GB), and it is brand new, never used in any device other than my GS3. I used the stock rom to format it, not a computer, and have not formatted it since.
Suggestions? or quietly ignore since it is actually working?
Normal
Wiltron,
If you are talking about the icon at left side of notification bar showing for a few moments upon boot, this is a normal part of the boot process.
If that^^^ isn't the issue than backup s on your computer and reformat.

It is, thanks for the help
My note 4 randomly freezes and goes to black. It also randomly restarts, gets stuck, and then restarts again. It's very annoying, if I want to check something, I hit the home button and the phone is frozen on the lock screen. Random apps are also crashing but instead if just closing the app my phone's screen just shuts off and I can't get into the phone for at least a minute. I don't know what the problem is and I really don't want to factory reset my phone.
I would pull the battery and take out the SD card (if you have one) and sim card and boot it up and see if that helps.
If u r using de-bloatware app then try restoring all the apps.
Factory reset, don't install anything and see if it continues. Then start installing a couple of apps till it happens again, try to identify the offending
App.
Same here.. Just started happening 2 weeks ago.. I have yet to find the offending app. ****ing ATT and their ****ty note 4 ughhhh
Happening to me too. Even after factory reset, and in Safe mode. I think it is from the June 16, update. I plan on taking it in to the att store and having them flash the new update to the phone. Thinking maybe my over the air update got screwed up somehow.
I put mine on ultimate power saving mode at night to keep it from dying since I forgot my charger. When I woke up, I tried to turn off ultimate power saving mode, but the option was gone. I rebooted and it got stuck at the att boot logo. I took it to the att store and they said I'd have to file a claim on insurance and that they can't fix it.
I cane home and connected it to adb to see if I could back up my files. Without sending a command to it, it wiped itself and factory reset. I lost everything, but since then I have had no issues.
Mine started doing this a couple of weeks ago. Factory reset twice, sd card out. Still doing it. Had to go back to note 3. With sd card and sim card out it seems to work ok on WiFi only.. No stuttering or force closes since?

Mine was doing the same thing. Turns out the battery was taking a crap. New battery and no more issues. For myself at least.
Mine is unusable. It boots into download mode half the time after factory reset. When I get it to boot up it only lasts for 15 minutes then resets again and gets stuck

Try what I did accidently. Connect to your pc. Boot into recovery lode and see if you can connect with adb. Then connect to with adb sideload and let it sit there. Maybe send a few commands and see if it will do like mine. It might get it to unhang. You might lose everything if it restores, but it might do like mine.

Mine mostly ok, albeit chained to at&t FIRMWARE, but I do get an odd eeror: when in a call the phone will make a a keypad tone,as though I'm leaning on the keypad [not], often mid-Bluetooth handsfree calls. It last 2-4 seconds, long enough to interrupt the flow of a call. anyone ?
I have had tons of apps update as of late. I too am experiencing lag, lock ups, black screen. I thought I was alone.
Had a friend's Note 4 do the same only he was on Sprints network. He was not rooted and on MM. I tried a factory reset and it helped for an hour or two then it went back to random rebooting or apps freezing. I tried flashing factory software through ODIN. It was good for an hour then went back to random reboots and apps freezing. I tried another ODIN flash without restoring any of his apps and the same thing happened. I tried changing the battery and that wasn't it, I removed the SD card and that wasn't it either.
He had to take it to Sprint and they ended up just giving him an S7.

I started having this problem just after the update. I tried to switch the battery out and tried to take SD card out. I factory reset it about 3 times now. Nothing has solved it.
I took it into AT&T, and even though I'm not under warranty anymore (had phone for almost 2 years now), they worked with me and ended up giving me a new s7.
I suggest you go talk to AT&T because this is a problem with all AT&T Note 4's. Tell them you want it fixed and talk to the managers and get them to contact the corporate help desk. Don't leave without them fixing it. You paid $900 for this phone.
Gave you a new S7? Or swapped it out on a next contract?

I did not pay a dime. But you have to show them that it freezes and crashes even after they factory reset it
Just left an [email protected] store. He looked at me like I had 3 heads. He had never heard of such. Will call corporate and work my way down.
I did hold a S7 edge.... it was a thing of beauty and speed. No ir though... it's why I like note 4
Works without sim
I've had the exact same issues, (Galaxy Note 4 on AT&T). Tried factory reset, wiping cache, re-flashing with odin, removing SD card, removing apps, multiple batteries, etc.... the only thing that has worked so far is removing the SIM card. It runs flawless without it. Currently using my S3 for calls and text and use the note 4 like a giant iPod touch on wifi only. Hoping this is a software issue AT&T will correct but knowing them..... best bet is probably to wait until August and get the new Note 7.
Why not try the MM update that is out right now, it´s not an OTA but by just renaiming the file to update.zip, putting it in your ds card and applying it through recovery you will have a practically new phone, it´s worth the try.
I´m ruuning it and it´s been great so far, no bugs, no errors.
