My AT&T Note 4 has been turning off randomly, but a battery pull usually solves it. Yesterday, my phone shut off and won't turn back on. The phone is charged, it was at like 60% when it stopped working. I have tried booting it into odin mode and recovery mode, but it doesn't even turn on .When I plug it in to charge, the phone doesn't vibrate and the display doesn't turn on. My pc doesn't even recognize it. PLEASE HELP!
just order a new OEM battery, trust me

HI all,
I flashed my Arc last night, and then rooted it.
All seemed to be fine, until I rebooted after the Root had been completed.
Once the phone turned back on, the battery had dropped from 70% to 1%. It was warning me that it was about to shut off, so I tried to plug it into the computer, via USB cable to charge, and nothing!! I thought it must just be my computer, so I tried to plug it into the wall socket, and still nothing! It just refused to charge. Full stop. However, it continued to tell me that I was bout to run out of charge and didn't turn itself off!!! I unplugged it 1000 times, and still tried each option ( computer/wall socket) and it just wouldnt work.
So, basically, this is a well known problem and you can solve this by following this procedure -
" try removing the battery for a few seconds then reinsert the battery whilst the wall charger is plugged in. give it 5 mins before attempting to switch it back on.
if it manages to switch back on, try to put the phone in flight mode until the red light turns a pale green. "
I did this, and turned it back on. Straight away the phone rocketed back up too 77% battery.
And, the usb port worked again.
So my question is this,
Is this a common issue?
And is following the above process ok for the phone? I hope that I wont have to send it back, cause the other people on that link above had too.
Is anyone else had this problem?
Thanks all for your input
Amanda
This is a common issue, no worries Amanda! Same for me when I flashed the UK Generic 2.3.2 to obtain Root..
How did you fix it???
This happened to me also last time after a reflash. You may try to do a complete drain then do a complete full charge (don't turn on the fone while charging at this time).

Just remove the battery and wait a few sec.

The other morning I woke up and unplugged my phone and the "Unplug your phone" notification wouldn't go away and the phone thought it was still plugged in. If I rebooted it would just turn off and keep going from the green batter charging icon to a black screen and back. Only way I could turn the phone on would be to actually plug it in again. Problem fixed itself that evening and the phone was fine for a couple days. Today the phone started with the same thing.
I've tried searching but couldn't find anything on this specific issue. Any insight? Thanks in advance.
Brand new ept4g and I got 6hrs of battery life its so lame I have hack so much bad luck with this bad boy but I'm not giving up.

This isn't a battery consumption issue...
Anybody have this problem yet?

I'm having the same problems the last few days. Also when I unplug my phone I get a red exclamation point over my battery widget, when i open the widget it says that the battery is over voltage and the red led light won't go off. Think i'm about to go see what best buy does for me. Been dealing w/ this problem for a few days now.
Did you get a replacement? I haven't had any free time to go to sprint with my problem. It is still happening often though.
I had a similar issue the other morning. Though my phone would only boot back up in recovery mode. I reflashed it to out of the box stock but that didn't make any difference. When it did boot up it would show that it was connected to the usb port but it would not be plugged into anything. I plugged it into a usb port on my computer that I hadn't used with the phone before and it reloaded the drivers on my computer and "that" issue went away. After turning phone off it would start rebooting itself immediately or with in a few seconds of turning off. I let the battery die completely and then recharged it and the automatic reboot went away, at least for most of the day, but last night I turned the phone back off and it rebooted itself. I did reroot and restore my phone after I got it to not show the usb connected or the battery charging while the phone was off icon. Just wish I could figure out why it wants to automatically reboot itself when I shut it off.
Same issue here

My Battery Monitor Widget shows a max of 1500mah? Wtf? And a measured of under 1200?
No wonder my battery life is crazy low...

I figured a way to shut the phone off and not have it automatically reboot. If after shutting the phone off the normal way and once the screen goes black but before the capacitive lights go out, if I again press the power button, the phone finally shuts down without rebooting itself. Not sure why this is happening but at least I can get it to turn off now.
I found better battery life by determining which app or apps drain the battery. I used Battert spy, cpu spy and system tuner. My problem was Touchdown exchange for Androir 2.x. I switched to Moxier Mail. I would get hours on moderate to heavy use. I got 22.5 hours yesterday on moderate use.
accidentally flashed fancy kernel on XenonHD and noticed something was wrong when during "Android is Upgrading...Starting Apps" the screen flashed for a second and the "Android..." box looked like an old scanlined tv then shut off. pulled the battery, put it back in, booted it and it turned back off. now when i plug it into either the wall or my pc the charging logo appears with the lightening bolt then disappears and loops there. "hotbooted" it to charge by taking out the battery, put in the charger, put in the battery and it says its charging but when i disconnect after about 15 minutes of charging the phone wont turn on without being plugged in. but it doesnt boot and wont go into recovery from bootloader. do i need to odin and will this erase all of my flashed Page Plus information? or is there a way to force it into recovery so i can nandroid without the battery in?

You can try to reflash a recovery via fastboot..

turns out my battery went bad. didnt find out until after i Odin'd all the way back to 4.0.4 and still couldnt turn on the phone. shoulda known something was wrong...phones not supposed to die within an hour and a half on a full charge in my pocket >_< loving my new extended battery though!
so i was using it normally (about 45% battery), plugged in a usb cable as i wanted to transfer a file from PC to the tab. in the middle of the transfer, i noticed the file was stuck and the tab had frozen. so i unplugged it, and the tab turned off and restarted. however, it wasn't able to restart. i was able to see the screen backlight turn on for about 2 seconds and it would go fully black (off) again.
i kept trying to turn it on, go to download mode , but it did the same thing (backlight screen on) for about 8 times, and then... finally it FULLY died. the backlight wasn't even able to turn on. i charge it int he charger for 10 hours, and it is STILL fully dead.
i got this tab from TD bank so i dont have a receipt, so how does warranty work...?

Do you hear anything, or see any response when you plug it into the charger?
Can you test the charger & cable with another phone to make sure they work?
yes it charges my other android stuff (it is the charger from the tablet). no it doesnt make any sounds
i feel like if there is a way i can remove the battery, i might be able to turn it back on.
That's a Drag
My Note 4 have been shutting off whenever battery level hit 4 - 5%.
When I try to turn it on, then it will turn on until att logo and restart the phone again until I plug in the phone or take out the battery.
I have tried to factory reset my phone twice but this problem still occurs.
Is there a way to fix this?

calibrate your battery..
use the phone until it dies and turns off. leave it turned off and plug it into the charger. let it charge to 100% and then let it run down until it turns off again. charge it back up to 100% while it is turned off and you should be good to go
Thank I will try it tonight
Update: I have tried three times with charging my phone while it is off and etc. but it seems like it is still turn off around 4%.
Is there any other way to calibrate the battery?
