What ROM? Stock? Kernel? Mods?

Stock 7.0 Nougat. No mods at all. It was acting up earlier so I took the phone apart and cleaned the sim tray with a used toothbrush and alcohol.
It worked fine around 7am to 4pm and then it did it again.

Did the Tmobile employee break my sim tray

My sim card doesn't pop out when pushing forward on the card, so doesn't have that spring to it. I noticed the kid selling me the phone was trying to put the sim card where the memory card goes. I have to use tweezers to remove the card, this can't be right.

Mine doesn't pop out either neither does sd card. I guess that's the way these are built. Not like the note 2
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk 2
They redid it to make it tighter.less chance of sim or sd moving
TWEAKED 2.5
Yeah, when putting in my sim and sd card, I didn't notice any spring load thing. It just simply slid in.

Its stupid if you ask me . i had to use a push pin to get mine out
That makes no sense, it's difficult to get the sim card out.

This. I never have to take the sim card out of my phone unless I buy a new phone. Since I'm not fortunate enough to buy a new phone every week, then the sim isn't much of a concern.
However, I am a little bummed about the SD card slot not being spring loaded. I do take that out every so often to transfer transfer things to it. Maybe the USB 3.0 connection will help with that. It might make up for the fact that MTP is so slow.
Sent from my SM-N900T using xda app-developers app
I thought I was the only one! my sim card just wouldn't come out and the only way I could get it out was to use a threading needle to nudge it out slightly, then slightly "stab" and pull it out. I thought I had a defective device and it only bothered me knowing that if I were to ever sell it, I would have a defective feature to list.
I never take my aim out anyways

It was the same thing with the Note 2. A pencil eraser will side it right out.

It's actually for replacing the S-Pen tip, but if it also helps you take out the SIM card then that's just an added bonus

[Q] Getting "Change of SIM detected" notification? - Verizon

I've had my M8 for several weeks and just started getting "Change of SIM detected. Usage from previous SIM now saved" notifications last night. Anybody having the same issue? I'll go to Verizon tech support next but I wanted to come to the experts first.
Thanks for any insight.

Sounds like your SIM card might be flaking out. Verizon should give you a free SIM card replacement if you walk into the store and show them.
Had this happen to me on a few Roms. Running gpe ROM and don't get that notification.

Same thing happened to me today. Even list service for a minute. I did a restart and hasn't happened again. Did you talk to Verizon tech support?
HTC One M8
Yes, I talked to Verizon and they recommended I remove the SIM for 10 seconds and put it back in, I haven't seen the problem since.
Thanks for the help.

I noticed that it happens when sending pictures via text. It's also happening on wifes phone. Did you take it out while powered on or off?
HTC One M8
Yes, I powered down first. Turns out my gf's M8 was having connection problems this afternoon too. I did the same for hers and things seem to be fine on both of ours. RED must be making changes or testing something.
TIP: When a SIM ejection pin isn't around, a standard staple works perfect.

Both of our phones are randomly (a couple of times a day) dropping cell connection and giving notifications that the SIM was just connected. We've already powered down and removed the cards but it's continuing. This started three days ago do I know it's a network thing but I don't know what's going on.

Just had a connection lapse as I sent a text. "Preparing SIM card". What the hell?

Yeah seems it's happening when we send picture texts and not on WiFi. There was probably something in the recent update that screwed things up.

[Q] I lost sim card tray...

I've done some considerable searching and can't locate a vendor that sells the sim card tray for the M8. Does anyone know of a vendor? I lost my sim card tray so my phone is basically useless right now.

Changed carriers, can't update to Marshmallow

I purchased a used LG G3 (LG-D850) that was previously used on ATT. I brought it to T-Mobile. I can't update to Marshmallow. T-Mobile said they can't help me and that LG can. After two hours spent with LG, they've only told me that "We didn't make Android." I pushed for advice and they finally said make ATT help. ATT says once the unit is unlocked and there's a new sim card, there's nothing they can do.
I'm sure I'm not the only one with this issue. What is the easiest way to update? I don't need a anything rooted or anything. Or do I now?

Even now, that thread is a bit confusing. It's late June, there must be an established way to get to Marshmallow. If not, can someone dumb this down for me, please?

There is still only 2 ways. Install an at&t sim or install a custom ROM.

I apologize for asking for such specifics but what is the easiest way to do the ATT route, because I spent about 3 hours with ATT on the phone and being sent to two of their stores yesterday and then they sent me to the LG Experience at Best Buy which consisted of one guy who knows LG phones who was not there and shows up "sometimes". This after ATT confirming he was there for me. See? I'm both ignorant and frustrated.

You need to go to Walmarts and buy a GoPhone sim, it will give you the ability to receive updates.
Sent from my Nexus 5X using XDA-Developers mobile app
So, get the AT&T Go Phone micro sim card. Put as little money on it as possible. Insert the card into the phone. Look for update. Hopefully find update and run it. Remove card forever. Am I getting this right, finally?
When I was at AT&T store #2 yesterday, they took a sim card from a demo phone and booted mine up. Couldn't find an available android update. Your process is different, yes?

No, the same. Sometimes the update takes a few hours.
Also I'm assuming you have a d850 running stock non rooted.
You also need wifi connection.
Sent from my Nexus 5X using XDA-Developers mobile app
Correct about stock d850, non rooted. But now I'm confused. At the store, with an ATT sim card thrown in, Settings/General/About phone/Software Update/Update now showed no available updates. I'm still on 5.0.1.

As I said, it doesn't always happen immediately, also were you on a wifi network while in the store?

It was quite a day and over 110' at that point. Can't remember. I ordered the card you suggested and will try, at home, over wifi. THANK YOU!

All I can say, is that it worked for me, though I have since moved on to the Nexus 5x.
Good luck and if by chance it doesn't work (it should), you need to try rooting and flashing a stock based ROM.
Sent from my Nexus 5X using XDA-Developers mobile app
This is weird.
I got the card. I called ATT to activate it. They said, hang up, power down, insert the att sim card, power back up and get the update. As soon as I hung up, and before installing the ATT card, it started downloading the update. Eventually it started installing the update and then stopped. Error message said that it suspected my phone of being a rooted device and therefore would not update the software. Odd. Okay. So I powered down, installed the ATT card, powered back up, looked for software update. My phone is on the ATT network right now (thru my home wifi still) but says no software update is available. I'm still at 5.0.1.
Any idea what I did wrong?

Try a factory reset (you will lose your data)
Sent from my Nexus 5X using XDA-Developers mobile app
Wanted to give you an update. I did a factory reset. Didn't help but then I went deeper. I guess the previous owner had some rooting software underneath it all. Spent some time removing it, going back to absolutely stock. It took more effort but eventually I got it. I'm at Marshmallow Level. Thank you.

Lots of Dropped Calls on T- mobile S8+

I'm just wondering how many others may be experiencing random dropped calls.
It's happened quite a few times for me.
At first I was thinking with the huge screen I might be ending the call with my face but now I'm suspecting WiFi CallIng as the culprit.
I'm going to trouble shoot today and see if I can figure this out.
I took the SIM card out of my LG V20 and just placed in the S8, I did not use the one that came with it. (not sure if that is an issue)
Also, I used package disabler to disable the phone from updating like @TEKHD suggested so I'm still on 1AQC9 baseband that it shipped wth.
Cheers
I forgot to mention I don't think any calls have dropped while using the headphones or speakerphone.
Sent from my SM-G955U using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I've had few strange ones. The calls don't drop. I answer it and it instantly ends the call. A few times it texted the person calling with im busy, I'll call you right back. Like I rejected it.
Try taking out you SIM card and cleaning it with a damp cloth then dry it off completely and inserted back in the phone. I had a simular issue when I had my note 7 and that worked. I've had the s8+ for a week and haven't experienced anything like that yet.

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to try that now.
Any update to the problem?
The problem was terrible on my S7 Edge, but hasn't happened on the S8+ yet. I agree that it may be a problem with the contacts on the SIM card.

That's what I'm suspecting because I only have dropped calls at home. Anywhere away from home my phone is fine.
