Hey guys! I wanted to ask you how much SOT can you get on your LG G4 with stock Marshmallow(mine is v20g-EUR-XXX). I'm getting barely 4hrs of SOT, how much are you getting? Plus I've heard we can disable something in service menu(some logging?), does it really improve battery life(especially in standby?) If so please share this method here, I'll be very thankful
PS. My phone is not rooted
This is typical for the g4. I get around 4 and a half, using greenify.
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
mine is constantly degrading, first month or so I managed to get 5 to 5.5 hours SOT easily and now I can barely get to 4 hours and its still getting worse.
2 hours on V20a, it's **** >.<
After a bunch of small optimizations, I'm hitting 5+ hours sot. Bet I could hit more if id quit that damned Pokémon.
Unrooted v20f
Anyone else encountering problems with the Google Play Services? They use up to 25% of my battery. I've read several threads about how to reduce this (modifying location settings etc...), but it didn't work out for me yet. I also stepped over the "GServiceFix"-App, which I didn't want to give a try because several users reported, that the app bricked their device.
How did you set up your G4 to reach ~4,5hrs of SOT?
*edit* I'm on V20g-EUR-XX (H815)

Theres no way i think unless you root..and disable some services...
i can get like 4-5 hours i think uisng 4G and facebook app... rooted and custom kernel.. and alot of services disabled..
My battery is either calibrating or so and now I'm getting up to 6.5h SOT and I'm really happy about that, plus Doze seems to be working better and better

Nope I wanted to give it a try but it says that it needs root or activating service via ADB so I gave up as I didn't have a time for this

I get around 3.5-4 hours screen on time on my brand new h812, my 2 year old moto x xt1095 gets 6-7 hours on its original 2300mah battery. It's on cm13 but it was not much worse on stock.
The g4 I don't want to root and risk my warranty since it is an lg phone. I've had a nexus 4, nexus 5 and g2 in the past and I have had worse luck with lg than HTC or Motorola.

There really is no other way? I did not want to root until this day, cuz i didnt want to void my warranty. If I really have to root...is there still no way to root without unlocking the bootloader and flash twrp?

yes with locked bootloader you can have root and install xposed. only in lollipop. if you are on marhs mallow you cant. you also need to know your antiroll back before you downgrade in case you are on marshmallow.. nothing a KDZ using LGUP refurbished can fix if you need warranty just flash KDZ and itll remove root.. in case of bootloop just use freezer method ..
no twrp, you need unlock bootloader for that.. i used flashfire.
The only thing you can do to improve battery life is(so far, as I've found) disable logd, use greenify(w/o root works fine), disable sync/localization

Hey guyz,
I always feel that my optimus g is somehow over heated. But in many forums, people says smartphone can get as hot as hell. Today I ran a stability test on my phone and I noticed my cpu temperature reaches 80C and batery reaches 60C and I got worried. Please tell me am I running too hot? 80C does not seems to be ok for me. Even when my phone is idle cpu temperature is 40-50C. I don't have warranty remaining. Please tell me what to do?
Any reply will be appreciated
Which rom are u on + kernel ?
Give cyanogenmod a try (don't install anything over it in recovery except gapps, run your tests and reply).
My F180L doesn't overheat under normal calling / texting but does noticeably when I am playing games. Runs cool and silky smooth even when I am browsing over wifi or using Whatsapp/Viber/Skype.
Thanks for the reply. I am on stock rom and stock kernel. Bootloader unlocked using freegee (I guess i am on Nexus 4 bootloader now). I know temperature can be increased when gaming. But is it normal to get 80C?? I am actually waiting for a stable release for CM11 as its still in nightly. Can you plese let me know what is the temperature of your cpu when gaming?
IF i gaming in GTA SA and charging (with oc GPU 487 and 1.8Ghz ) my temperature is 75-85°C

Seriously? Thats too damn hot I think. Well I am not the only one with ovr heat I think. Can please tell me how long your batter lasts when you are gaming??
If I gaming and charging I lost 1% to 15-25min. If I not charging and playing 100%-0% my phone eat full battery in 3-5 hour

Gaming eats major performance. Phone is benchmarked on video play for 5hours. 3-5 hours on purely gaming is pretty much expected, every phone is supposed to behave that way, including a Galaxy S4 which is slightly about 6 hours.
Regarding overheating and stuff, I'd recommend you shift to a custom rom so alot of bloatware which eats background CPU power gets removed and you get neat android experience. This phone is alot cooler than my Atrix 4G / LG Nitro HD or even my good chinese craplet Ainol Novo 7 Elf II .
I kept stock rom for barely 3 hours on mine Optimus 4G (which I spent waiting on downloads to convert my phone to e975 from F180 and installing custom recovery / rom blabla)

lol thats too much extra juice you are spilling for a lesser resource hungry game as GTA SA. You will do fine on a stock 3.4 kernel. There is a reason why manufacturer clocks and sets up hardware.

CM10.2 gave me keyboard lockups, I switched to CM11 and I got to say, even nightlies are rock solid and can be used as daily driver. Phone runs alot cool (Y)
When you are upgrading CM11 nightlies all you have to do is clear cache before updating.
So I've this Z1 Compact and I charged it to 100% when i got home (the first charge) since its Li-ion and cause I've read everywhere that you don't need to keep it plugged in for 6hrs straight I din't let it.
The next day morning itself I found Kitkat update and updated. But it seems the battery drain is far more on Kitkat than on jellybean as per reports from a whole lot of people who get upto 7hrs screen on time or more on Jellbean and I manage barely 4-5hrs max even on wifi.
Kitkat was supposed to have better battery life, as is the case with most other phones and that's why I din't give it a second thought and updated, now I'm thinking of rotting and flashing back Jellybean stock rom, what do you guys think?
And from the last 2 days, camera app is also behaving a bit odd, in manual mode specially, its hanging when i click a photo and the photo doesnt get saved, to avoid a reboot i just lock screen and turn on.
So any suggestions?

Stock KK here, rooted and debloated but bootloader locked. Yeah, JB have better battery but difference is not significant maybe 30min. difference in screen time. Nonetheless phone can still survive a day of heavy use and still go home with a juice to spare.

I am soon getting an LG G4, as it is one of the best phones which meet my needs. Out of all the features its noticeable that the battery life isn't that great compared to other competitors. So I was wondering if there are any good roms for the G4 which improve the battery life while also having the features of stock G4. If there are any can someone name them?
How much SOT do you need ?
I get 5 to 6 hours SOT on stock rooted lollipop. 7-8 if I disable sync, push notifications and have Wi-Fi on only when screen On.

You want 8-9 hours of screen on time ?
runtime is how long it lasts, sot is how long it lasts while you're actively interacting with it.
So what is your minimum sot figure ?

did you remove any apps? are you using greenify/amplify or any tweaks?
yes, I removed some LG apps, the ones that could be removed via UI, not a complete debloat. I use xposed with PowerNap and Amplify and also tasker. 3g always on and sometimes wifi (at home), location is off, screen is auto between 30 and 70% indoor
I've been a XDA user for several years now and I remember how cowardly I used to tinker with my first Android phone(Galaxy S3 Mini) here in the forums. The thing is now after buying the Nexus 5x I've been pretty happy with the experience it gives out of the box. But as I see inside the forums of this device, I don't feel such a big need to root it. So I thought I would ask you fellow users. Should I root?
We can't answer for your question, it's your own decision, you like everything, don't need to change anything so don't root, you want to play with a phone, modify system files then root.
Do what you think it's equal for your needings

Seems fair enough. I'll give it a go and root sometime next weekend.
I just got this phone a couple of days ago, and I'm also very satisfied with it as it is. I normally root my phones to do some tweaks to prolong the battery and enhance the performance but for now, this phone is rocking it. But I've read some reviews that it slows down after a few months of use. So I'll probably wait it out.

Slowing down can be because of user installed apps causing it, too much bloat in the memory or maybe FSTRIM hasn't triggered in the system (triggering it manually through an app requires root). It's been 11 months with this phone and haven't had any slowdown. Same with the other unit I gifted that has 10 months. Those reviews surely are from before the March 2016 update which fixed major slowdowns caused by encryption.

Yep, that's what I'm thinking too. I had an Xperia Z3 for more than 2 years now and it never slowed down. As long as you know how to clear junks and manage the memory, it will stay just as fast.
I used to root other phones, but this one seems to work fine overall as is. I could think of a couple of tweaks I could do with root, but then I don't think it's worth to lose the convenience of monthly OTA updates. Other devices, which barely ever receive OTA updates, I always root.
Since I updated to this version few days ago, I found that the battery drains so fast, sometimes I don't receive messages. I mean they get late to show up. Anyone noticed this issue?

Nope, it released for the Chinese version three months ago, but we may get it in the end of summer as I heard. Not sure but let's hope we get it soon.
