Currently helping my friend on his xperia z5 premium and i was wondering how do you fix the problem of a black screen? When i turn it on, go to recovery , or hard reset. i can hear and feel it booted like normal but screen is black and blank. Also LED lights are fine.
you mean it goes to recovery but not going to Android?
this means screen is okay, it boots to recovery!
correct?

please visit your SONY WORKSHOP, and let them check!
1. install XperiaCompanion http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/Software Downloads/Xperia Companion/XperiaCompanion.exe
2. shutdown your phone (volume up and power)
3. connect with usb to your pc with pressed volume down !!!
4. or if you have no chance check this http://repair.sonymobile.com/fr/#/
5. check thank's
There are two possibilities. First of all, there are problems with the system. You can reinstall the system to see if the phone is back to normal. Second: If there is a problem with the hardware, it is likely that the LCD is damaged. You can buy a new LCD for replacement. Wish you to fix your own mobile phone as soon as possible!

While attempting to get HDMI working, I stupidly enabled second screen in developer options in my aosp ROM, which immediately rebooted the phone. I'm now stuck in a loop whereby the phone boots and then restarts when loading the lock screen (presumably it's enabling the second screen).
Is there a simple way of resetting settings to default or bypassing this during boot? I'm away from home else I'd wipe and recover, so any help would be appreciated.
I'm using teamwin recovery if that's relevant.
Try clearing cache, if that doesn't work restore backup.
I think there is a safe mode, not sure how to activate it.
Also, factory reset is possible.

It can be activated only once the phone is booted afaik.

Thanks chaps, looks like a recovery cache didn't work. Lesson learned!
So you got out of boot loop or what?
Sorry, to clarify clearing cache didn't work. I ended up wiping and recovering.

I know this is an old thread but I think I found a solution.
If you wait until the boot animation is already showing and then hold down the buttons like you were trying to boot into recovery it should boot your phone into safe mode. Then you can go into settings and disable the second screen. It may be different on the one x than on my phone though. I have a note 2. I am just trying to keep anyone else who has this problem from having to wipe their device unnecessarily.

Hey there, so my phone randomly decided to stop working today.
Whenever I put the battery in the phone or plug in the charger, the Samsung screen loads then nothing. This all happens without me pushing the power button btw. Then the power button doesn't work, nor can I access recovery.
Like I mentioned, this all happened very suddenly and unexpectedly. I haven't flashed a rom in awhile so I'm not sure what caused the problem. One tidbit worth mentioning is that my phone would randomly reboot on the rom I've been using, but it wouldn't happen too often.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Not exactly sure what I should do in this situation. Thanks for reading.

try to be quicker to access recovery, power off the phone. then press the power, vol up, and home then AS SOON as you see the blue text on the left top side of the samsung logo screen let go of the buttons, it should boot into recovery then wipe data factory reset and reboot.

flash this recovery attached with odin by booting into download mode via power vol down and home, wipe data factory reset and reboot
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390212717148635222 (recovery)
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390275921635705049 (odin)
place in pda with only f. reset time and auto reboot checked. it SHOULD only take about 10 seconds to flash. as soon as your phone reboots hold the recovery combo and it should go to it
I can't really access download mode either.
I'll get to the screen that asks if I want to go into download mode, then push the up on the volume rocker, get to the next screen, but then it goes black about a second later.
Thanks for all the help so far though.

kinda odd. never had that happen before. ,maybe you could try to reflash the download mode into your phone using this method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2369125(make sure you use a debrick.img http://d-h.st/iEy for att not sprint BTW)
or use a jig. since your phone can still access the boot interface.

Have you done this and then connected the USB to see if ODIN will recognize the phone? it's entirely possible that you are getting into download mode, but just can't see it..
It's certainly worth a try.
Hi
I have LG G3 which fall down and now is in reset loop.
reset and then load android after 1 second reset again and again.
I have data and picture on that.
How can i get backup from data and pictures and how can i change ROM?
BR
Seems like a hardware failure due to the drop, thus why you cannot power it on.
If you have a custom recovery (TWRP) try booting into that (if you're not sure then you probably don't have it), it would be able to get your files off to a PC. Though (again), if it's a hardware failure I doubt it's going to work.
Unfortunatly I get the same issue.
The LG G3 was only working properly when connected to the Power AC/DC.
It was an issue with the batterie (try Amazon with the BAtterie reference not that expensive ~15 Euros).
Cheers

Try boot to safe mode
1. Turn off your LG G3 phone.
2. Now boot the phone.
3. Once seeing the LG logo appears, long press on the VOLUME DOWN key until you see the home screen.
4. Your home screen will have Safe mode in the lower left corner.

Soo.... I messed up and edited the build.prop specificly the ro.build.type property. I tried to enable some debug options without validating if this would be a good idea (hint: it's not).
It seems that this has bricked my phone, the first LG splash screen shows up with the powered by android, and the second animation just keeps loading forever (making the phone very hot). And the LED flashes blue continously.
I did manage to get the device visible in ADB but it tells me that the device is offline so I can't do anything with it.
Tried booting in recovery mode (holding power button + volume down) but it just own't go into recovery mode.
Some extra info of what runs on my phone:
- version H815
- Android 6.0
- bootloader unlocked
- TWRP installed
- Rooted
- XPosed installed
Any idea on what I could try to fix it? (I guess stuck with a brick but oh well).
Thanks!
What do you mean, by it can't go into recovery mode?
Nothing is showing on screen?
Go to downlod mode either use lgup or lg flashtool to reflash the firmware that you are on... Do u remember which firmware you were on ?
Thanks for the replies!

I meant that it just boots 'normally' when I press those buttons, it shows me the first LG logo and the second animation just hangs, whatever I do. I tried all sorts of combinations with the power button + volume down. (Keeping it pressed, briefly letting it go after the lg logo and repressing them).

I don't know exactly which firmware I was on but I can't even get my phone into download mode (same as my other response, pressing volume up doesn't do anything).
The recovery and download mode used to work but I have no idea why it doesn't now...
When booting the phone, hold the power button and volume down button simultaneously, when LG logo appear, push the power button again. You should see the white screen, where you choose "YES" twice. Then the phone should kick you into TWRP or different recovery mode.
But how the hell editing build.prop can mess with recovery and download mode? Sounds incredible

Maybe he has bootloop issue... ILAPO
Yeah I have no idea why the buttons aren't working for me. After a lot of searching I found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/soft-bricked-device-t3248144
Which is basicly the same thing I'm experiencing, ADB comes online for just a brief second (kept spamming the reboot recovery command) and got in TWRP and I just flashed another which worked fine.
Odd thing is, even now my phone works I can't start recovery or download with the hardware buttons...... oh well, thankfully adb works as it's supposed to.
Thank you all for your help!
Step 5 of the upgrade instuctions say that if you want install add-ons, you need to click Advanced then Reboot to Recovery. However, my phone, as mentioned in the instructions can happen, goes to a black screen. So how can I install Gapps after side-loading LOS?
Has anyone successfully carried out the upgrade?
Try this:
Connect your phone to a charger or pc....(make sure its charging)....then press and hold (vol up + power button)...until android one logo shows up, as soon as the logo shows up just leave the power button but still holding the volume up button until it enters lineage os recovery menu. Then flash your gapps...and then factory reset,....then reboot system. It works.....good luck

My problem was not that I didn't know what to do. The problem is that on my phone, I just get a blank screen when I boot to recovery. The recovery still works, but it is hard to use if you can't see what you are doing. However, as I have another phone where I can see the recovery, I was able to use that as a guide.
Ok

Hello! I have the exact same issue! Is there any known fix yet and can I contribute somehow?
I haven't found a solution, but some workarounds are given here: https://gitlab.com/LineageOS/issues/android/-/issues/4170

The TWRP workaround did not work for me, but I awas able to install it blindly.
Is there any way to run the LOS Recovery on a windows PC in VirtualBox or something? Then I could make some screenshots of the Recovery Menu so everyone with the same issue can at least do it blindly in theory...
