I just got my son a, refurbished, M9 from Amazon. It's all stock.... I updated on Tuesday (a week ago) to Android 6.0 and set it all up. He's horrible about letting his phone die.... So far, it's died 3 times and each time, it looses all it's settings? The default apps all reset, the quicksettings reset, the keyboard, everything.
Today, it died again and when he booted it up, it kept giving HTC Sense and Google.system errors and you couldn't do anything?
What can be causing this?
I just reset the device back to factory settings and am installing everything again.....But I'm not sure what's going on?
This is the 3rd one I've gotten....The first two the motor died, this one feels and sounds better, but keeps resetting itself.
Should I return it, or is there a fix?
return, that shouldn't happen

I have a t-mobile tp2. I put on the htc 6.5 firmware on and it was working very well. All of a sudden, i come to use the phone and it's turned off. I can't even turn it on. I have to take the battery off and then turn it on. I thought something with the firmware was corrupt so i loaded a different firmware. Same thing! Happens about once a day. Sometimes i can go a day or so without it doing it. Is my phone bad? Any advice? Thanks!
Before you upgreaded to wm 6.5 it was the same way?
I've got an EU version with the stock HTC 6.5 upgrade which happens to be connected to TM UK. I too get these occasional lock-ups but I don't think the phone turns off, just refuses to wake up (had one today and the green LED notification was still blinking) - again a battery removal and soft reset is the only cure.
I've been getting less since a hard reset last week but still once every few days - somewhat annoying!
My touch pro 2 does the same thing. Except i have narrowed down the symptoms to after the phone goes on stand by for 3rd or 4th time. It doesnt turn off it actually goes into like a stand by that it can't come out of unless you soft reset the phone. Which is really weird. I am running 6.5. i have replaced everything and can not figure out what is causing it to do it. i have cooked so many different roms with no luck. I am also using build 28002. any help please!! i hate to have to soft reset my phone every 15 minutes or so... very annoying.
Volume button on my HD was playing up for the last few days so I decided to reset the phone today via the power button just incase it might help, since then it hasn't started up again, I get 3 buzzes after I've removed and replaced the battery and then the amber light flashes constantly.
I was running CM7 for a while but went back to stock as I missed the sense UI so I should be on the most recent update.
It's a pain because I'm on holiday so have no access to my PC, I have access to Macs but I'm not sure there is even an HTC sync style application for that system.
Many thanks in advance for any help.
Ok, phone was left off for ~24 hours, battery totally flat, I switched it on and at screen came alive, unfortunately the sim hadn't been inserted properly and phone demanded I reset it, when I did back on the fritz, will give it another 20 minutes or so, hopefully will be back to the same state where I can start it again and go from there, were there any bad 2.3 updates that I possibly installed when I went back to stock?
I have a 2 week old Galaxy Tab S 10.5 with a problem that just started or noted yesterday. My menu and back touch buttons are flashing every minute or so? I have checked accessibility under vision and notifications is not turned on.. Was playing yesterday with different settings in all the sub-menus. Not sure what I could have done to make this happen. I also have no pending notifications. Plus I rebooted, powered off with no help. The tablet is bone stock unrooted at this time.
If the device still does it after factory reset and with absolutely no changes to settings or additions from user = defective.
Since I am not rooted yet, i hate the thought of setting up the tablet over again. Temporarily I set the led lights as always off. Since I got it at best buy less than 30 days. I can always return it, same as doing a factory reset. Thanks for the reply.
Hello all,
My Pixel XL randomly started resetting on its own and then gets stuck in a bootloop. It used to reset 1-3 times a day a do this (Its been going on about a week now), but the last couple of days its been doing this several times an hour. I can get it to stop the bootloop and finishing turning on by pressing the power button a bunch during the loop, but it will shortly reset and start the bootloop.
I can't even power my device off, because before it can finish powering down, it will reset into the bootloop. I have contacted Google, and they weren't much help. They said they can send me a new device, but it will be a week or two. Any suggestions on what I can do in the meantime to try and fix this? I've already done a factory reset and that did not help.
Thanks!
This keeps happening to me. Any luck finding a fix?
Same here. I updated to the latest patch a few days ago and now my Pixel (not Pixel XL) goes through bootloop a few times a day...
I've had similar issues with my Pixel XL recently. It started with a random reboot, after which it just ran really slowly, with apps telling me they weren't responding or the whole thing just freezing up. Shortly after that it went into a boot-loop (boot, input PIN to unlock, screen freezes, auto reboot, rinse/repeat).
For me, a factory reset would solve the issue for a couple of days then it was back to the same problems.
I returned mine to the shop this weekend, and they have sent it off for repair/replacement; in the meantime they've given me a basic Android loan-phone.
Sorry; I'd like to tell you I had a fix for this, but I just wanted to say that I too experienced this issue and simply took it back for replacement/repair. I guess it depends where you bought it (I got mine SIM-free from a shop in the UK) for them to offer something else to tie you over.
In the last few weeks my normally totally reliable Pixel 2 XL has started switching off or restarting. It never happens when I'm using it and it's always when it's in my pocket. It can happen if I have full charge or anything inbetween. The phone is now just out of its 2 year warranty period and it's highly probable that the issue is down to the battery needing replacing. I've tried factory resetting but this hasn't helped.
However I was wondering if there's an application that I can pull logs from it to see why the phone is switching off and rebooting? As once I factory reset my phone it just installed all my old apps, so if one of these is the culprit the problem will still occur.
Thanks.

This has been happening to me too!
Especially when inputting Wi-Fi passwords.
As an update to this, my phone totally died the other week. I can just about get it into the Android boot screen when holding volume down and the power buttons when its chagring. But if I select retart or developer mode it flicks on the Start up splash screen and then powers down. I now can't even sell it for spares or repairs as I can't factory reset it!
In the mean time I've 'borrowed' a crappy works phone and I'm impatiently waiting for Google to release the Pixel 4A.
