I'm looking to replace my aging phone a,d I'mtempted by a G3 though I'd like to be sure a proper CM is (or will) be available.
Also, I'd really like to have a dual SIM phone, 'cos it is so easier than to carry one phone rather than two, and easier to mix plans from different operators...
So a d858 would not be able to use 'vanilla' Roms I guess ?
Thanks !
Check here and here and see if there are any D858 compatible ROMs.

Seems completely dead as for alternate ROMs.
Thanks Delboy.
Yep. D858 is not popular. Not many people have it I believe.
There are not done yet. But you can find working CM 12 for LG G3 DUAL, for example bbs.gfan.com/android-8080850-1-1.html with bugs
Hi All, Is there any app to validate a fake/clone LG G3 ?
I will get a hands on before I buy it so whats the most fool proof way to check it's originality?
Thanks!
I would say the resolution and the dpi.
Also ask the seller if the unit has a custom rom, recovery, rooted, or whatnot. Test reboot, shutdown, calls, sms, 4g, etc

Hey! Thanks for your reply. I am assuming i should be able to tell the difference between a QHD vs the 720p's on the Clones.
But is there any app i can use ? or some more effective way to confirm ?
Thanks again!

Thanks, The storage is 8gb but emulated to show 32. so Im wondering if the DPI will be spoofed too ?
@twisted_twice - The video is good but i need some key indicators to test the phone.
The laser focus and IR blaster are always fake.. what is the best way i can test them ?
if you are allowed install this apk :CPU-Z , by the way how much is the phone?

Cool, thanks for the APK.
It's being sold by an individual.. For 20000 Rupees(USD 340)
you could also run a benchmark... Antutu will give you details and the benchmark should be between 36000-40000.
Im telling you, they can clone everything except the screen. If you see jagged or blurry icons on the screen, there is a big chance that it is fake. Walk away.

Thanks, I'm assuming it should be easy to tell a 720 vs a QHD
screen. But i doubt they will be blurry or jagged. Right? Sometimes this can be tricky if you're not comparing a device side by side. But perhaps i can test side by side my Nexus 5. Text should be equally or sharper.

are there 16gb fakes?
some one offert me a exchange for my oneplus one
for a 16gb lg g3. i wanted a 32gb, but at the end a g3 is way better than a oneplus one.
just want to be sure it can't be a fake
im planning to swap my LG g2 32gb to a Lg g3 3gb also.
does the clone/fake LG g3 runs Lollipop or Kitkat only?
sorry for my bad english.
It is reasonably easy to replicate exterior of the phone, but to make fake camera and display that would be closely similar to the original is something else.
Also, replica would have to be equipped with appropriate CPU and RAM, sensors, storage, dual flash...
Regarding software, fake G3 would have to be equipped with a a fake ROM that is almost identical to official LG ROM... Also, fake LG would not be able to get OTA updates.. Fake G3 would also have to have a knock on / off feature which is not so easy to implement..
So, it is not realistic to have fake G3 that would be hard to recognize.. If someone produce it, it would be very easy to see that it is not an original, and i there any counterfeiters that are capable to produce fake premium smartphone with all the components, usability and performance of the original, than they can made their own brand
Christ just tell us what it says under the build number in system software
You cant fake system software versions. The fake ones always have some obscure build number that immediately shows up as fake if you type it into google
Its so simple and all of you make it so complicated
i just swapped my g2 to a g3 32gb.
i think the fake ones runs Kitkat 4.4.2 (not sure)
what i did is i look at first the display panel and compared it to my xiaomi redmi 1s with 720x1920 resolution.
and i perform also some antutu benchmarks and CPU-Z.
I've investigated a little bit about those clones, and after seeing review at Youtube I am quite impressed with the quality of build (both hardware and software wise) and and also with efforts those guys actually put into making fake G3 even in small details.
So, after watching G3 clone review, some conclusions:
1. If you buying G3 online:
- It is virtually impossible to tell the difference between real and fake G3 only by looking pictures on-line
- So, if it is advertised as a genuine G3, and the price is suspiciously low, this is cause for alarm. Maybe that's not a fraud but...
2. If you can test a phone before you buy it, you can quickly determine are there some reasons for suspicion:
- Look for a IR laser range finder at the back. It is there in both cases, but with clone G3 it is not working. With original G3, blinking red light is visible while back camera is activated.
- Take a screenshot of the screen(volume down+power), and then from the gallery look for the details of captured image. LG clone has HD resolution (720x1280), while original G3 has qHD (1440x2560). Resolution of captured image matches the resolution of the screen.
Apart from this, accessories (charger, headset, usb cables) are so badly made, that is is clearly visible that they are fake.

It could fit in your phone but I'd rather look for another battery. Those batteries for this price don't really look too reliable imho...
I've been struggling to make a decision between the G3 and the G4. The G4 obviously is the newer device with the better specs, but I didn't see any (official) cyanogenmod support yet for it, whereas the G3 has that going for it already. Having some custom roms available is a killer feature for me in a device. I already read that even only the european version (I'm from Germany) of the G4 can be rooted - is that the reason why there are next to no custom ROMs or kernels at all?
Do you recommend the G3 if I'm going for customizability or is the G4 going to get CM support eventually?
Thanks in advance for any help

No idea about CM but I think we all have root now. I am using the Canadian model (H812) and we have root but no unlocked bootloader.
We flash things using FlashFire since we can't install TWRP. No idea about roms, I don't use them.
If you're looking for strictly customization you won't find much for the G4. Maybe you'd be satisfied with what's available as far as themes, Xposed, etc.
You can change things up quite a bit, but it's pretty far from a custom rom or kernels. If you're not in a rush maybe wait it out a bit to see if the G4 scene improves. In my opinion it's the much better device out of the two. If anything when you do buy the prices could be lower.

I would also like to add that flashing roms can get old after a while. On my G2 and previous phones I was constantly flashing and changing things. Seemed like everything was buggy in one way or another. In the end I was happier with a nice phone where everything worked the way it should.
With the G4 I'm pretty happy with the stock software, sure I rooted and changed a few things appearance wise, and removed a lot of bloat ware. I'm stuck with a stock rom and recovery(stupid Verizon model), but that's ok!

@rick09 Why do you think it's better? Other reasons besides performance?
But the G3 should still be a good phone, right? Currently, I've got an HTC One M7, on which the battery lift has gotten quite horrible... Now I don't really know what to get - I've thought about these (In brackets my concerns about them):
Moto X Play (No replaceable battery)
Oppo R7 Plus (Last gen processor, Huge but unreplacable battery)
LG G3 (Nice overall, but the G4 is newer)
LG G4 (No CM support yet)

Ok look, if you're going to buy one of these phones so go with the G4 H815 (not any other model! because of unlockable bootloader) it will get the cm very soon, the development is very fast,
BUT if custom roms are you're thing and you can't live without it so don't but lg at all, go for the oneplus 2 or the new nexus devices the n5x or the n6p

No, I'm totally fine with CM, but will it really be actively developed given that only a small portion of the G4 users can really use it?

Oh, I'm totally charging overnight. I also have a pretty huge powerbank with me all day, so that shouldn't be a problem. On my current M7 though, when my screen is on, my battery even drains while charging

Why not just get your m7 battery changed then and stick with it ?
after two years its not going to be as good as new.

The M7 is by no means a bad device but changing the battery is nearly impossible on that thing. Also, because of a hardware failure which affected the whole M7 series, all my low-light photos look like this which renders the camera totally unusable is some situation. The strongest reason for me wanting to get a new device is that my employer will pay it though, so I'm going to get a new phone anyways, it's just that i've only got a certain budget and the G4 would fit the bill, I think

That's what i wanted to know because some people don't care about that. Also you did not mention any other brands so was curious.
The G3 comes in two variants, 2 & 3GB RAM with storage of 16 & 32GB. The 3GB is the better choice. They did away with this in the G4 and its just 3GB and 32GB like the G2 and optimus G earlier for storage.
The G4 has a much better camera than the G3 which is the same one used in the G2 and flex models. The G3 is a capable auto shooter but the manual controls on the G4 mean more control and better low light ability. The aperture is 80% brighter.
The screen on the G4 is also better and brighter. This you will have to see for youself to decide. Then decide whether you are ok with the slight curve on the G4 that the G3 does not have. Roms will come in time but i see a number of people who are not bothered.
Have you seen the V10 ? will be more expensive since its 4GB and 64GB only. and the manual controls of the stills camera carry over to the video side as well. This right now isn't possible on the G4. The V10 is a little bigger though.
How much battery do you need ? mention your expected SOT/runtime.
I have H815 and have root, unlocked bootloader and flashed TWRP, please, get the G4. Getting a G3 is pointless. Think of the G4 as an optimised G3.
I had the g3 for a few days and it was full of lag and heat. Screen was also bad!
The G4 is a totally different phone. Everything about it is better except for size.

I did hear about the V10, of course, but that will, at least on release, be way out of my price range of about 400-500€ I can use from my employer. Also, I can't add from my own money because law restrictions and stuff.
Battery-wise, I'm quite the heavy user - I commute about 2 hours a day by bus and have the screen on almost all the time, but battery's not really a concern for me as I have a 13k mAh powerbank and the possibility to charge at work.
I was also considering a Galaxy Note 3 or 4, as they also have microsd and a swappable battery but meh, it's TouchWiz. Also it's a teeny tiny bit too expensive for my budget.

LG today posted the kernel source code for LM-T600L
I just noticed that there are two battery files in the folder, LMT600L_Kernel_Pie.tar\kernel\msm-4.4\arch\arm64\boot\dts\lge
one is 8000mAh battery, and another is 6000mAh battery
is it mean that LM-T600 is an upcoming tablet?
@
I heard something recently as there may be a third G8 smartphone after the arrival of G8 and G8s.
Something related with LGs idea of fold display (let's say "Dual Screen" or "Triple Screen" possibility) even though it will lack some of the futures G8 and G8s has.
Anyway, for the "LM-T600" reference, you actually have 3 : the T600, T600L and T600US and as I assume, it's well a tablet : http://opensource.lge.com/osSch/list?types=ALL&search=T600
lm-t600us
these devices do not have a dedicated post yet, how do i ask for one?
i picked up a NEW , but broken , ( easy fix to me ) tablet, and now i need to root it, VERIZION put TONS of crapware on these things..
-note- i will gladly switch the KDZ as i NEVER plan on using this for cellular, if it helps. (plus it seems ALL HARDWARE is the same across the mobile versions except the frequencies.
PS: if you ever take one apart, message me, as its not hard, but there is a few tips to share.
does anyone know , can i flash another KDZ to my LM600 ? (i have a VS version, but would like to flash the WIFI only KDZ )
the chipset seems to be the same across the 600's ?
