Hi Guys cut a long story short bought a "new" M9 from ebay. apparently it came rooted, alerted by installing my banking app, so I downloaded an app Super user to " un-root" the phone, however this made android not to load.
TDRW was installed when I got the phone.... ebay user lying saying I tried to root the phone, which I didnt and never have . Tried to install custom ROMS but all i'm getting is the Bootloader screen when I reboot. Firmware version 1.32.651.30, tried to update firmware but I get an error that the phone is not connected to USB after the program tries to send and it hangs on the picture of a phone with a green circle in it(error 155) . I tried Android Revolution ROM and all i'm getting now after that ROM sucessfully installed is the phone looping into the HTC bootloader screen....Any help is much appreciated...I have a brand new shiny HTC brick...Im willing to pay the user that comes up with a solution within reason....
Phone is S-OFF and I can get to HTC Recovery and TDRW .

Download ruu from above link. Rename it OPAJIMG.zip. Copy it to an sdcard and put sdcard in phone. Reboot to download mode.
The phone should auto detect the file and prompt to install it :good:

Can I not install this file onto Internal storage??? Further to that Im in UK on 02 UK , will it matter that i'm installing a US carriers ROM.??

No unfortunately not. When the ruu installs it will wipe your internal storage. So it must be on an sdcard.
You can flash it with fastboot if you can get a USB connection to your PC

For this I'm not sure. Sprint usually have different hardware to International models. Which means you normally have to use Sprint firmware. I'm not sure if this applies to the M9 though. It was certainly the case with the M7.
Was the phone working with your O2 service before the problem started?

The ruu is definitely suitable for that device. Sprint phones are designed to use US CDMA networks while International phones are designed to use GSM networks.
I am also in the UK and have always used international GSM devices. I don't know if it's possible to convert a Sprint CDMA phone to use 4G in the UK.
But that ruu will return the device to stock unrooted Sprint software. It will get the phone working but I can't guarantee you will be able to gain 4G access as it could be subject to hardware difference in the Sprint device.

Check this thread, sorry but it seems that Sprint devices cannot use 4G on a GSM network.
If the device was s-off when you received it then it was definitely tampered with before you purchased it. Maybe you can get a refund or a replacement GSM device by going back to the seller. Using the RUU will remove all traces of root but the device will remain s-off.

Hello Guys (and gals). Having an issue applying O2's new 2.17 OTA update. I did have my device rooted and CWM installed but noting else after that (no custom roms, etc.). I have tried every unrooting method (flashboot signed recovery and signed boot, relocking bootloader, etc), running RUU manually (only O2 UK RUU is 1.26 - my device was OTA 1.29, hboot 0.96 so I am getting 140 Bootloader version error).
Is there anything i can do to force on the legit O2 OTA that was released (past the phone going down a storm drain and the insurance claimed for a new device??? Not that I would do that of course ). I would like to be able to run OTA's handy in the future - but rooting does have its benifits - but for now, any assist on helping with the O2 OTA would be greatly appreciated.
You cannot accept an OTA update with CWM installed.
You must have stock recovery installed to accept the OTA.

You can't use a ruu lower than the version your on now, you need 1.29 or 2.17

I'm pretty sure I can - the bootloader screen came up when I tried to install the update.
And no, I've never flashed the system mods or deleted any system apps, but would i need to check with the guy I bought it from first?
Being a complete noob at this stuff - will going to the boot screen do anything if I don't do anything from there?

Just going into the bootloader won't cause any damage.
What version are you on now? You could always run a ruu to get it back to complete stock then try performing the ota.

As I said at the start, I stripped everything back (original signed boot and recovery flashed, root removed, SU apk's removed, the works). Hello I really hope someone can help me.
My phone did the htc one x update (sense 5??) yesterday and i decided to wipe my phone to give it a fair chance to impress me.
as i was copying files over something got corrupt and i lost all my photos, i downloaded various apps to "undelete" but all needed root access.
I never wanted to root my phone but these photos are very important and can never be replaced now.
I used HTCDEV and unlocked the bootloder and the undelete apks still didnt work.
I followed instructions from some youtube video (i know .. like i say i know this is my fault) and then phone no longer boots
I can get into CWM etc and have installed 2 roms that i had downloaded from here and a nandbackup from here and still get same results - nothing
could someone please help me fix my phone (i have accepted i have now lost all my stuff)
thank you for your time and patience
larry.
Same boat, different quarters
looks like you and i have almost identical issues, perhaps the chap that helps you can help me as well.
htc one x, with rogers, with clockworkmod installed, nandroid backup already created.
so, my phone is rooted, has been for awhile. i attempted to install a version of cyanogen mod about half an hour ago using hte fastboot flash boot boot.img command.
it seemed to go fine
my phone can no longer boot past the htc screen. it appears to be trying to boot into recovery, but failing for some reason.
i tryed restoring my nandroid backup, no sd card detected. as anyone responding ot this will know, one x has no SD, but does have an internal SD partition. i couldn' even select my nandroid to restore it.
ive been searching for an HTC ruu to run without sucess, ruu's are only available for the US ATT model.
any help is welcome. thanks in advance.
@Wackywilly522 if you have the Rogers one x you are in the wrong forum, and anything you flash from this forum will damage your phone. You need to be in the Rogers, telstra, at&t forum. This is for the tegra 3 international one x

I am sorry for being a 'noob' when it comes to this but any help on steps to get the phone to actually be able to make a call would be most helpful.
Thank you once again for your help.

You were on stock Sense 5 4.2.2. So you are on HBOOT 1.72. When you unlock the bootloader and root the phone, the process wipes everything on your phone and your SD storage. So that's why you lost all the photos and everything. But if you have that data backed up somewhere on cloud, you can get it back.
Now as far as the phone not booting, you have CWM and you can get into it. Do you have superuser installed?
As you are on HBOOT 1.72, not every ROM can be flashed into your device now. Plz check the ROM if it can be installed on your device.
If it can be, a boot.img has to be flashed and then the zip can be flashed via CWM.

You lost your data is due to the fact that you unlocked your bootloader for the very first time. There is a prompt saying that you will lose all your data and advice you to back it up. Which probably you didnt that is why this results.
Hello,
I purchased a Galaxy tab S (SM-T807A) from a friend and wanted to use it just over wifi. Is there a way to get system updates without a carrier service? Or do I need to root it to have that ability? It is currently running 4.4.2 which isn't bad, it would just be nice to get it up to lollipop. Thanks in advance!!
Only way is via odin, but att don't release updates for odin.
However Tmobile do and your device is essentially the same. Whether odin will flash it on your device or refuse or not I don't know.
It's your call.
The only other way is to root via kingroot/Kingoroot then ask someone who is also rooted to pull the system.img from their device and upload it so you can flash back to your device.
However you would also need to flash the bootloader and radio partitions for everything to work properly, something you can only really do with odin.
Ok, that sounds like more effort than it is worth. Thank you for the response. If I get the tablet unlocked by the original owner and take it over to Verizon would it be updatable or would it still look at the AT&T servers?

I'm not new to roms and rooting/flashing but recently I bought an LG G3 on ebay. The phone model says it was an unlocked d851. I know it's the T-Mobile variant and it even says it's D851 on the system settings. It is currently on kitkat 4.4.2. The point is, I want to flash the Lollipop kdz for the T-Mobile variant but whenever I power the phone on, I get the Viaero Wireless bootloader and the phone does not have any T-Mobile apps whatsoever. Any suggestions on what I can do in this situation? Any help would be highly appreciated

I just want to know if its possible to flash T-Mobile kdz on this phone even though it says Viaero Wireless. (I flashed CloudyG3 2.5 as the D851 variant but no problems so far.):good:

You mean the Viaero Wireless boot animation.
You'll be good to go ahead and flash T-Mobile D851 ROM's since it is a true D851 device. Sounds like its pretty much been flashed with a ROM already. Have you checked to see if it has root access? If not download Root Checker and test it. If not rooted then just go through the normal root process, install the recovery, and then flash the ROM you want. You'll be good to go.

Oh I actually do remember how to restore an LG if you ever get a bootloop.
You go to LG's site and download and install the LG PC Suite. Make sure to have the USB/modem drivers for your phone installed as well. Once you get the program installed, run it and plug the phone up in download mode. To do that you press and hold volume + when plugging in the usb cable. The PC Suite will recognize the phone and you click repair. Just follow the instructions after that.
That should work for the G4 as well.

Have you considered unlocking the bootloader and flashing the correct RUU for your region?
I just went through the same challenge myself with a Taiwan (709) region ROM trying to flash the North American version of the firmware.
Let me know if you need help.

You can flash RUU with a locked bootloader. No need to go unlocked.
As it is a taiwan region rom, will it be a conflict to flash RUU rom?

If a factory reset doesnt get rid of the problem take it back. Its that simple.

You need to change the CID and MID to match the region of the desired RUU. So far as I know, for that, you need to unlock.

Yeah correct but he could just flash the .709 TW RUU. No need to change region just because his camera doesn't work. Also his phone is only 5 days old and doesnt work as it should so i think suggesting something that will void warranty is wrong.

Flash the RUU for your phone. Your better off just factory resetting if your phone is already stock unmodifyed.

That's the trick, isn't it? This is one more reason why going with a NA or WWE will be easier for you in the long run - the websites you'll be using as resources are in English. Besides, why would you want a TW ROM if you're not in TW?
I just went through this myself a week ago. Like you, I bought a TW phone off Ebay and it came with a 709 region ROM. But some apps in the ROM were only for that region, which was annoying. I'm also told that running a North American system will also get you OTA updates faster since they're deployed more rapidly and here first.
Unlocking the bootloader isn't hard. There are guides here on how to do it. If you want the easiest method, you can go with Sunshine for $25 and also get S-off if you decide to start experimenting with custom ROMs.
It's your decision, but I think sticking with an overseas ROM will be a challenge for you in different ways. This guide may help:

Why don't you bring it back for warranty? Unlocking your phone will void the warranty and might not be able to solve your problem (it might be a hardware problem) if your phone wasn't unlocked initially.

100% agreed. No reason to pay 25$ for S-Off, change the region, and flash a different ruu when the issue sounds very highly like a hardware problem. What if the issue isn't solved? 25$ down the drain. Just send it in!

The guys have a point that if you can return your phone, you should. But my guess is that you bought it through a secondary channel (like Ebay, or overseas) and cannot send it back. If that is the case, you have nothing to lose to try and unlock/reflash because often software bugs manifest themselves in hardware functions.
Anyway, if you can send it to HTC for service, do that. If they will not accept the phone for service, you have nothing to lose by unlocking the bootloader, changing CID and MID, then flashing a NA ROM.
I don't have manufacturer warranty but got sellers sevice warranty..I'm considering to send it to seller first, if they don't help, then i will flash the rom..

FYI I sent my device directly to HTC for repair without a receipt or even an idea of when it was originally purchased. I had bought it second hand, and it was even a carrier branded variant. I set it all up with HTC live chat pretty simply, you can try that if your seller doesn't help you.

The only chance for u is to buy the module yourself and repair it. . I've done it with my old M7 and M8 ..
