I'm not new to roms and rooting/flashing but recently I bought an LG G3 on ebay. The phone model says it was an unlocked d851. I know it's the T-Mobile variant and it even says it's D851 on the system settings. It is currently on kitkat 4.4.2. The point is, I want to flash the Lollipop kdz for the T-Mobile variant but whenever I power the phone on, I get the Viaero Wireless bootloader and the phone does not have any T-Mobile apps whatsoever. Any suggestions on what I can do in this situation? Any help would be highly appreciated
I posted this up on the Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting section but I was getting no help. Can anyone guide this grasshopper? I just want to know if its possible to flash T-Mobile kdz on this phone even though it says Viaero Wireless. (I flashed CloudyG3 2.5 as the D851 variant but no problems so far.):good:

You mean the Viaero Wireless boot animation.
You'll be good to go ahead and flash T-Mobile D851 ROM's since it is a true D851 device. Sounds like its pretty much been flashed with a ROM already. Have you checked to see if it has root access? If not download Root Checker and test it. If not rooted then just go through the normal root process, install the recovery, and then flash the ROM you want. You'll be good to go.

I only saw the first part of your post. I didn't see the part where you were able to flash Cloudy haha. So yes you're definitely okay to flash any D851 ROM or firmware.

Haha indeed. But I will mention that there was no root access when it first arrived. It was completely stock. But I just wanted to make sure first since we're getting Marshmallow soon and I wanted to upadate it. I'm going to be on Cloudy for a while. Thanks for your help :good:
No problem at all. I wish I still had my G3 to play with. Right now I have the N900T Note 3 and on a Dev team for it. Too bad it's not getting official MM, but we never have a problem making unofficial things here at XDA. Lol

Would I be able to recover my phone if it was bricked if flashing the kdz went wrong? A friend of mine had the g4 from sprint and he was on a bootloop and I downloaded what was suppose to be the sprint firmware of the g4 and after flashing it there was an error and the screen is all black. Nothing lights up and it only makes a sound when plugging it to the computer but I cant go into its stock recovery or download mode. I just dont want this to happen to my g3

I can search that and get back with you. I'm actually not sure and can't give you an answer on that right now. I will let you know as soon as I find out. I've personally never run into that problem on a G3. Hopefully there is a program like Odin for Samsung devices.

Oh I actually do remember how to restore an LG if you ever get a bootloop.
You go to LG's site and download and install the LG PC Suite. Make sure to have the USB/modem drivers for your phone installed as well. Once you get the program installed, run it and plug the phone up in download mode. To do that you press and hold volume + when plugging in the usb cable. The PC Suite will recognize the phone and you click repair. Just follow the instructions after that.
That should work for the G4 as well.

Is there any tweaking required like LG Flash Tool working on an older date? (Changing date and time, etc.)
I don't think you'll need to do any tweaking.

I will be sure to try it on the G4 first. Thanks for your tips and help :good:

So Friday i went to verizon and bought me a new LG G3 phone, 32G memory 3G RAM, you know the good **** LOL. Well when i got home i wanted to root the phone but when i looked it up there was many options, IOROOT, TowelRoot, and Stump Root. So i tried towel root on the phone but when i clicked the button towel root said my device isnt compatible and my phones build is the VS98510B. So at that point i decided to try IOROOT. When i launched the batch file i made sure i made myself a developer, got the proper drivers, made it connect via usb and set the phone connection to Ethernet. Well in the batch file it said everything was good and that i just needed to click any button to continue well i did that but when i clicked a button it simply closed the batch file. All i clicked was the space bar and it closed. Stump root isnt compatible and im afraid to use bruteforce mode. Any one got any help with this? Andriod Kitkat 4.4.2
Use the brut force method in stump. Takes about 5 minutes.

I used stump root. My phones still works. You can't install twrp because bootloader is still locked, have to wait for a way to unlock it.

Read a bit here TWRP is a recovery and backup software for when you flash a custom ROM.. You're not flashing any custom ROMs just yet.. So... I don't think you need to backup anything just yet. After you root the phone you can use TWRP to backup your current stock ROM .. Good luck ..
:good:
I used ioroot with no problems. Check out this vid, pretty straight fwd on what you need to do.

My pleasure Hope you can find root using the desired software.. I'm in Korea..using the F400k but the latest update (v10l) couldn't find root using any of the available tools.. so.. I had to downgrade to the previous (v10g) and got root again. :victory:

So, on Thursday I picked up an LG G3 from Verizon. I was absolutely loving it. But like most people, I wanted custom ROM's and roots and all the fun stuff you can do with android phones. I rooted my device the day I got it with IORoot. Everything is working fine at this point.
After this, i wanted a custom ROM. I found that there wasn't many for my specific model, but i did see the Sphinx G3 Neo ROM. I payed no attention to what variant it was for and loaded it up on my phone. At first, everything was working perfectly and it was butter smooth. But then I noticed whatever messaging app I tried to use would not work. I did a factory reset and then did the same process to load Sphinx on my G3. This time, messages were working, however, mobile data was not. I finally had enough of this and decided to return to the stock ROM. I found all of the stock files and was attempting to use the TOT method. I put the phone in download mode (which it won't come out of btw) and tried to start flashing. I then realized what I had done and saw that my device was reading something like D855. So when I downloaded the Verizon files it wont work. But will I be able to fix this? Have any of you had this problem before? This phone is brand new and I cannot replace it at this point. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out.
Hi,
So sad to hear that. Have you tried TOT files from this thread?
I hope your imei is intact.

I don't it is bricked per say. I do believe that the only way to solve the problem will be to do as you were trying, return it to stock with .tot files, you just need to find some information which I did see in the threads somewhere with regards to getting out of download mode.
Once you get that done and flash back to stock, then you can root again, I would suggest using Stump root, and the unlock the bootloader with Bump, and this would be a good time to make a backup with the recovery TWRP.
Be calm and read as much as possible, I hope you sort it out. Good luck.

Guys,
I used to be very good at rooting by in my HTC days (3 yrs ago). Not so much now a days :crying: I need some help.
I have the ATT LG G3 D850 (i believe) (16gb)
I rooted my phone a few months back. It was an app that did it quite easily for me. I downloaded and used root only apps like titanium back up with no problems.
I didn't download TWRP because at the time i don't believe it was available.
Anyways fast forward a few months and with lollipop out i thought i'd try to install TWRP and a rom that had android 5.0
I downloaded the TWRP app and then installed TWRP recovery through the app. (i listed my phone as D851 because i couldn't find D850 on the list)
Everything seemed to run fine and got a notification that the install was done successfully.
I tried to boot into recovery through the TWRP app and my phone did not boot! I get a message at the upper left corner of my phone that says:
: Boot Certification Verify
______________________________
Secure booting Error!
Cause : Boot Certification Verify
______________________________
and then my phone turns off.
What the hell did i do to my beautiful LG G3? Can someone help me fix this?
I greatly appreciate the help! This forum has always been so awesome!

Can you help Explain how I do this? What is KDZ?
You must check what exactly model you have. Then download a firmware in KDZ format and flash it through LG Flash Tool. Can't give you more details, because I never used that way of flashing new firmware
You flashed TWRP for the T-Mobile variant that ships with an unlocked bootloader, however your variant has a locked boot loader hence the boot Sig error. You need to flash back to stock with kdz and then flash bumped TWRP which works around the locked bootloader and allows you to flash Roms and kernals. You can download "bumped" TWRP here: http://downloads.codefi.re/thecubed/lg_g3/bump/, and here is the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/orig-development/bump-unlock-lg-g3-twrp-d852-d852g-f400-t2900614

If i flash back to stock, will my phone be functional again? Or do i need to flash "bumped TWRP"
what is "bumped TWRP" ?
Your phone will be functional again if you flash back to stock afterward if you want to flash roms you need to then install bumped TWRP. Bumped TWRP is a special version of TWRP that has been patched to make it possible to use on variants of the g3 with locked bootloaders like yours, by tricking the phone into thinking it is booting stock recovery. This will allow you to flash Roms and kernals that have been "bumped" and apply mods like you would normally be able to with TWRP. Bump is basically a bootloader unlock for your phone that let's you flash roms, kernals, and Recovery's.
---------- Post added at 12:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:16 PM ----------
You do not need to bumped TWRP unless you want to, you need to use the LG flash tool to reset your phone here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2797190 and check the index linked above to find the .kdz for the tool

You need to download the correct .kdz file for your variant. The .kdz is the complete stock firmware from LG. Also, if you really have an AT&T LG G3 (D850) it is a 32gb not 16gb version. If your phone only has 16gb of storage then you do not have a D850 and you need to go to your software information in the phone to verify what model you have. Do not flash anything for another variant as you see where that leads. Check back and let me know when you find out for sure which variant you have and I will point you to a specific thread for your device with step by step instructions on how to use the .kdz method to return to stock, then flash a Bump'd TWRP recovery so you can make a nandroid backup and save yourself from this mess again. I am also unsure if the .kdz restore method can be done on Mac, but I'm pretty sure it cannot be done considering the program provided is a Windows executable. Best of luck.

I cannot point you in the right direction without having an exact model variant number. You obviously don't have a D850, but there are a few 16gb variants out there. I would hate to be the cause of you further bricking your phone. If you can dig through your information from the retailer you bought the phone from and give me an exact model, then I can help you without worrying about screwing you worse than you're already screwed.

The model number is listed on the IMEI sticker that's underneath the battery. My model says VS-985W since I have a white Verizon G3. Yours should say some model that starts with a D. This same number should also be plastered in multiple locations along the inside edge of the phone once the battery cover is removed.

Ok, so the white sticker underneath my battery says LG-D850. There's also some D850 small white markings on the body of the phone.
The sticker on the box that my phone came in says "SW Ver D85010d"

Can you post a screenshot or two of your Storage page? The D850 is the AT&T model but they only come in a 32gb ROM / 3gb Ram storage option. All U.S. variants are of this variety and you should have access to 32gb of internal storage.

My phone doesn't booT so I'm not sure I can get you a screen shot. Maybe I do have the 32 gb and me stating 16 gb was a mistake on my part.

Sorry about repeatedly asking you to get information from your phone, too many different posts to keep up with!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
That link has everything you need to restore any variant back to stock. From there, you can root and Bump it if you want. Just download the KDZ from the link given in the OP of that thread. Make sure it says its for the D850 and try to find the earliest version possible if there are multiple options (eg. 10b instead of 10d if possible).

Ok so I clicked on the Firmware files link http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=X...+G3/Stock/ in the OP.
I then clicked on the very top folder which is ATT D850 folder. In that file, there's 3 different files. Do i need to download all these files?
Are there any working ROMs or even recovery for the G Pad F 8 (V495)?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
Not at this moment. We need more people to be interested in such.
Fortunately, there's a recovery for the V496 (T-Mobile variant).
We need testing for the v495.
Look here.. Make sure to back up your exisiting recovery. Then flash this. If it works, make sure to reply here or at the other thread. If not, still let us know.
In the event we ever get roms, you wont be able to flash anything for a specific device that isn't v496. Atleast until someone rebuilds the recovery for your device.
In any event. I would like you to contact me so that I can walk you through a dump of all of your devices partitions, except the personal ones.

i guess it is a start, as there has been no info on these tablets. i have one and really like it, but it would be nice to get rid of all the att bloatware. i have it unlocked and am using defense mobile for carrier but i cannot use it to tether or hotspot. looking forward to more info.
I have this device for US Cellular. I would really love to install CM rom on it. From my understanding the two problems are the locked bootloader that prevent us from installing a rom, and also there being no ROMs that support our version.

Specifically, a locked bootloader also makes it either impossible or extremely difficult to have root, too, which of course is a prerequisite for installing anything custom.
Also to mention that you can root it with Kingroot but there is a good chance it will also brick it. I have v495 sitting here waiting for a proper KDZ.
I keep searching everyday hoping I see a KDZ pop up. Nothing as of yet. I just bought an nVidia K1 Shield to use in place of this thing for now. Maybe one day I will get it back working.
King root 4.6.2 will give you root on marshmallow but only till you reboot.. Would be happy to help out in the cause.
walk through

Can you walk me through what would be needed to get that root up? I tried it yesterday and it kept failing. I am trying to recovery data lost when a user profile was deleted. Many of those recovery apps need it and I would be eternally grateful
my device is alos bricked

waiting for the proper firmware for making my tablet working. If you got one, an you help me in that please
LG V495
Hello!
After unsuccessful firmware, I had the same problem as badvs3vil https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67942420&postcount=29 blurred / damaged video screen.
I was flashing firmware from LG V490 using LGFlashTool2014.
As a result, immediately after the end of the firmware, stripes appeared on the tablet screen, and nothing was visible :crying:
There are sounds of charging, the tablet responds to touch.
Please help restore the tablet!
You can install LG-AK495 to fix it.

How can i do this? Do you have detailed instructions?
It turned out to solve the problem with a distorted image on the screen. Here I downloaded the firmware:
LG G Pad F 8.0 UK495 Stock ROM Firmware (Flash File)
Download the official LG G Pad F 8.0 UK495 Stock ROM Firmware (Flash File) for your device. We also provide Stock ROM for other LG devices.
lgstockrom.com
LG_G_Pad_F_8.0_UK495_LGUK495_UK49520c_00_0718
After installation, the image is normal!!
So, I guess there's no custom roms for this thing, huh? That's a shame. The thing is super slow and running Android 6 with AT&T bloatware

Looks like it. I found this tablet sitting in my drawer and thought I'd flash some AOSP or similar custom ROM, but not happening.
Hi All,
I sent my Nexus 5x for repair and they gave me an option of "reparing ($77)" and refurbishing" $190".
I'm comfortable with ADB, fastboot and all that jazz so I thought I'll just get it repaired.
Well , I turn on the phone and I greeted with the go to go.c/ABH page
Then it loads some "miniOS" and ends in an all orange screen saying WARNING Not supported QEM = 0
And that is where it is stuck.
NEVER seen this before in my life.
So I get into boot loader.
FAST boot is locked the OEM unlock command doesn't work - FAILED (remote: oem unlock is not allowed)
Next thing I try.
Open recovery, start adb, get myself the latest OTA from google side, side load it.
SIGNATURE FAILED.
I tried EVERY single OTA file on the site and all failed.
So I'm stumped... Any advice or insight is greatly appreciated.
Flash stock firmware in KDZ using LG Flash Tool
NEVER MIND I'LL SEARCH the forums and get it done.
Thank you for help.
(I'm sorry to ask but what what is KDZ??)

These LG problems are not 1 in every 10,000 handsets there selling dodgy phone's knowingly and expecting the customers to sit by and get ripped off they have just lost a lawsuit for the g4 and v10 handsets and instead of everyone allowing it we need to jointly stand together from all over the world and do something collectively and kick up a stink until we make enough noise they end up in court again if they don't give us refunds. If you're not interested in this it's going to be harder for the people who want to get something done about it
Just flash kdz or tot
I seen minios several time after i flash tot and unplug it before.

KDZ is LG Phone firmware image
Can be flash by lg flash tool.
Usually use in LG phone that lg published own firmware version.
In Nexus Google usually published firmware so as you can see flash via fastboot.
TOT is lg factory firmware image

Ok so here is where I'm stuck. Looking for a KDZ file.
I don't see anything for 5X. Am I supposed to use the G2 one or something else?
Ok here is the thread I'm following
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/help/req-help-to-unbrick-t3251740
I'm going to be using the 32GB TOT and then reverting back to stock 16gb Google OTA.
THIS WORKED OUT WELL. THANK YOU all for help.
