I have my old m9 I that I have managed to get onto MM now I have also downloaded sunshine and all the tests went perfect it will work for my phone.
My next question is after I use it to s-off and unlock the boot loader how do I go about getting TWRP installed and getting it rooted?
Thank you in advance for your time

You fastboot flash recovery and then flash the latest chain fire supersu zip in recovery.

Silly question I know but do I use the sunshine app for s-off and bootloader unlock first then do the twrp flash and use it to flash SuperSU or the other way around ?

Yes, Sunshine first. Make sure no other apps have been added or disabled: right after factory reset.
Then after Sunshine S-0ff and unlock, flash newest TWRP in bootloader. Next start phone and put SuperSU apk
in root of storage. Power off, start recovery, and flash SuperSU.

Anything yet??

YES You can now root your Verizon HTC One M7 4.10.605.3 successfully
Some user ayanami00 has posted this on another post under such a thread. Plus many other users have backed this fact.
"version 2.0 does work, have HTC One m7 running 4.4.2 sense 6. ran Sunshine on device it rebooted twice to complete. Then flashed TWRP recovery v 2.7.1.1. Then entered TWRP recovery it automatically prompted me to install supersu for root. Very easy and IMO was worth $25. Now I can finally try out a custom rom."
It is a paid aap though. Costs $25 as of now. You are not charged if you dont get S-OFF, or if charged you will be refunded, if the S-OFF does not happen for you.
Head to www.theroot.ninja
SunShine does not root the phone though!
The instructions specifically say that you must be rooted in order for SunShine to work. How am I able to unlock and s-off if i'm not rooted?
Currently there is no way to root the verizon htc one m7, sense 6, 4.10.605.3
I'm confused sorry

It still works. I was in your situation yesterday, and it worked for me. When you start the app it will give you the option of "temp rooting" it if you're not already rooted. Honestly, the process was incredibly easy.
So does this mean you can flash roms now? Like cyanogenmod?
s-off and Root
Nope, you don't any longer need to be rooted to used Sunshine.
One of its steps is Temp Root. Then it does its magic. Well worth $25 cuz there is no other way.
Google search for 'Sunshine s-off' and see the newest front page with newest instructions and download.
And yes, you can use any compatible custom rom you'd like!

What is the full name of the file from which you installed TWRP?
I just Googled verizon m7 twrp and followed these instructions on this site.
http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/164

Yo, If your phone is Verizon, you can only use: openrecovery-twrp-2.7.0.1-m7wlv.img.
Plain M7 recovery from the TWRP site isn't OK.

When you wipe before installing your custom rom, you can do the factory reset wipe,
and in Advanced Wipe, you can do Dalvik Cache, Cache, Data, and System.
But don't wipe internal storage, or you'll lose everything on the internal sdCard including
the rom you want to flash.
Hi I have tried to go back to stock to do ota, and now I'm s-on can't get s-off again or get the ota to install or flash, I'm stuck and in need of some.Help please
Not enough info. Did you restore stock recovery? Why can't you install OTA (what error messages, etc.)?
Did you turn it back to S-on after doing S-off? If so, you didn't need to, as s-on is not required for OTA.
What is the current state of the phone, is it bootlooping, etc.?
The error.message from htc says the phone is rooted or tampered with and.cannot perform.update, I tried recovery and.relocking, to see if i can do the ota, same.error, I tried to flash the ota by going into the recovery screen after recovery to stock, where hold volume up and.press power brings up a menu to install from device or sd card, no luck there, says invalid cid
Current state of.the phone is rooted twrp, unlocked, s-on (firewater doesn't.work anymore), Harman karman installed, supercid, phone has boot looped but supersu did a update, so far no more boot loop, kit Kat 4.4.2, software #1.55.6664

Perform a clean install of a TWRP Backup (of course one that fits your CID/MID, which is why @zhiarw asked for it I think) without this mod. After this reinstall stock recovery and try OTA again.
This should do the job.

Ok, then find backup corresponding to your FW for this CID without H/K Mod, install using recovery (e.g. TWRP), go back to stock revocery.
After this you should be abled to perform the OTA.

So you can use 1.55.666.4 under CID BM___001 backup and recovery.

It's quite strait forward:
1) flash stock backup using TWRP
2) flash stock firmware using fastboot commands in bootloader
--> reverted to stock
3) check for OTA in settings menu

Sense your unlocked you can flash a custom recovery using fastboot as i would use twrp. An then download supersu.zip an flash it in your newly installed twrp recovery. An now you are rooted.
Maybe I didn't explain properly my bootloader is not unlocked yet, just wanted to know since the update is there a new root method....? Thanks for replying

nbd. You should be able to use htcdev.com to unlock your bootloader Or you can go the s-off way(which I recommend) use the sunshine app for s-off(if your device is capable of s-off now) an if it is sunshine will s-off an unlock for you an then do what I said above post. Those r really your only 2 choices.
FYI you will need to be on either of the latest two twrp versions to install su binaries properly if you have issues. Sunshine wouldn't work for me but its really easy to unlock bootloader and install twrp and su

You could do that yes. Or just flash the firmware zip an then flash twrp an flash updated ROM an you r up to date....if you run ruu it will wipe your device so backup your stuff to a PC or external an then proceed with ruu an flashing twrp then ROM. After you flash twrp I recommend strongly to make a backup of stock before you wipe to flash new ROM.

I guess i'm confused because of my Hboot being on 3.19. I've been wondering if there is a need to run a higher Hboot that probably came out with the new OTA, but the VenonRom 4.2 has been running with no problems. So i guess what I am really trying to achieve is upgrading HBoot and Radio.

Those r removed. Why you wonder because if boot.IMG is included an your on a custom ROM that don't use stock boot.IMG an modules you will be in a boot loop till you fastboot your ROM boot.img an recovery is removed because who wants a stock recovery to replace twrp then you have to flash your twrp back. So I successfully rooted my HTC 10 and after that I got s-off. Apparently, I chose the wrong option (s-off and unlocked) and now my HTC 10 doesn't have an os installed. I am currently on cid HTC__621. Am I right in thinking that I can change my cid and then flash a ruu to get up and running again? Or will my being unlocked keep interfering?

If you made a backup after installing TWRP you can simply restore it. Otherwise, flashing a ROM or installing the appropriate RUU will work. Being unlocked won't affect anything now that you're S-off.

That didn't work because there were no partitions left to restore it to. So I wiped them and tried again. Failure again. Then my eye caught "factory reset" in download mode. I tried that and it worked. I even have twrp still installed.
