Sense your unlocked you can flash a custom recovery using fastboot as i would use twrp. An then download supersu.zip an flash it in your newly installed twrp recovery. An now you are rooted.
Maybe I didn't explain properly my bootloader is not unlocked yet, just wanted to know since the update is there a new root method....? Thanks for replying

nbd. You should be able to use htcdev.com to unlock your bootloader Or you can go the s-off way(which I recommend) use the sunshine app for s-off(if your device is capable of s-off now) an if it is sunshine will s-off an unlock for you an then do what I said above post. Those r really your only 2 choices.
FYI you will need to be on either of the latest two twrp versions to install su binaries properly if you have issues. Sunshine wouldn't work for me but its really easy to unlock bootloader and install twrp and su
If i'm s-off already I should be able to run the latest RUU to get me up to date with the firmware and then flash TWRP and then a rom correct?

You could do that yes. Or just flash the firmware zip an then flash twrp an flash updated ROM an you r up to date....if you run ruu it will wipe your device so backup your stuff to a PC or external an then proceed with ruu an flashing twrp then ROM. After you flash twrp I recommend strongly to make a backup of stock before you wipe to flash new ROM.

I guess i'm confused because of my Hboot being on 3.19. I've been wondering if there is a need to run a higher Hboot that probably came out with the new OTA, but the VenonRom 4.2 has been running with no problems. So i guess what I am really trying to achieve is upgrading HBoot and Radio.

Those r removed. Why you wonder because if boot.IMG is included an your on a custom ROM that don't use stock boot.IMG an modules you will be in a boot loop till you fastboot your ROM boot.img an recovery is removed because who wants a stock recovery to replace twrp then you have to flash your twrp back. Make sense to you?

hey guys so i just got my inc 2 a couple days ago and of course it has the newest update and software which prevents me from downgrading to .97. So i decided to go the HTCdev unlocked BL way. Is there anyway i can flash custom ROMs and still have root access without downgrading to hboot.97?
any help is appreciated THANKS!!
sure can, if boot loader is unlocked, look here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1435228
OK here's a problem though. I cant flash the CWM recovery because i need s-off and i cant get s-off because im unable to downgrade with my new system software. Any way to flash custom roms without CWM?
What about the ext4 touchescreen recovery. I am using it and it is nice. Download the app and then it installs the recovery. Not sure if that will help I have s off so this is new to me. But might be worth a shot.

yeah, thats it i think, but i haven't had occasion to use it yet, so i don't know how it works, keep in mind you'll have to relock your bootloader to use it, i think. research it a little before you try
so whats the difference with having s-off compared to s-on?
you won.t have to flash a boot image everytime you install a rom, it also enables you to flash radios. you can't now. but no biggy.
Hey dudes,
im working on flashing the dhd for various hours.
It is the german version T-Mobile branded.
I had rooted via aahk.
After some problems, i think there is a chance by trying again, also i relooked the bootloader.
In the end it was possible to flash a custom rom.
So I flasht this beautiful: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2113047
But now all my Phone is showing to me is the T-Mobile branded screen. no boot to rom.
So my Phone is:
S-On
Bootloader relocked.
rooted (?)
i can't boot into android and i don't have any idea what is to do.
Maybe installing a stock rom via CWM as .zip oder flashing via ADB.
please give me your help
greetz
You are not S-Off, so either you got rid of it or AAHK didn't work properly. Your phone can't be both S-Off and have an unlocked bootloader. Re-unlock and flash a ROM from recovery.
okay thanks i get it, but it isn't much better
I flashed a custom rom, no result.
only T-Mobile-Screen

Yes, after zip in recovery. It is in the ROM zip. You need to S-Off manually now; there are instructions at AAHK's old site.

how to fix it?

I tried a lot of PD98IMG files, but none of this are working.

Hi all,
I've tried to install newer InsertCoin ROM, during HBOOT update, the phone booted to his current ROM with no Wi-Fi or Mobile access, recovery stuck with red triangle, Trying to install some custom recovery using fastboot v1.2 - got "writing recovery - failed not allowed" message. What is the fastest way to get phone back to work?
Did you re-unlock the bootloader after updating the hboot?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Not allowed error is when the bootloader is locked or relocked. Unlock it via the htcdev site and flash a custom rexovery. Then flash the boot img from the new rom, make a FULL wipe in the recovery and install the new rom !

The phone os S-ON , is it ok? Should I flash new image using flashboot or other interface? Thanks In Advance
I'm not talking about S-On ....I'm talking about a locked or relocked bootloader.
Is it unlocked ?
When you succesfully updated your hboot with a firmware flash you MUST unlock the bootloader, flash a new custom recovery, install a new JB rom and flash its boot.img
A custom gets broken when you update the hboot because locking/unlocking will set the phone to factory state. So it will delete the current custom rom.
Also could you, guys, elaborate why my original ROM started to act spooky - no Wi-FI and so on.
Probably because you updated the hboot. You have to start from scratch after that. It gets messed up
I did as you proposed, unlocked bootloader, installed CWM recovery, wiped data, dalvik cache and installed the InsertCoin ROM, the issue - that I got same problems - Wi -Fi displayed error and not started, SIM is not recognized, no network. Could you please advise what to do now?
Flash the boot.img from the insertcoin rom !

Firewater doesn't work anymore. HTC patched the exploit.
You'll have to use SunShine S-Off. It costs $25, but is guaranteed to work or you don't pay.
Having S-Off is totally worth $25 IMO.

The stock recoveries or in that link too. I'm not sure if you need them for sunshine though. Try with custom recovery, if that doesn't work, get a stock recovery.
Or get both ROM and recovery stock, then reflash a custom recovery and ROM.
If you get both to stock, you shouldn't have any issues.

First, I misunderstood your earlier question. Yes the number in front of the backups are for firmware.
To help you more, I'll need some information. Hook up your phone to your computer and start ADB. Then issue these commands:
adb reboot fastboot (wait till your phone boots into fastboot)
fastboot getvar all
Then post what the readout says here, but edit out your serial number (serialno) and IMEI for your own safety.
Then I'll be able to give you a little more guidance.

Your CID is ORANG202 and your firmware is 1.54.73.5, so you will need the backup that corresponds with that.
The backup available was made with TWRP recovery. So you'll need that. (In my opinion, TWRP is a better recovery, less issues)
You could go to their website to download it and get instructions on how to flash it, but there is a much easier way.
Go to the Play Store and install an app called TWRP Manager. Hit the three line menu thingy on the top left, and pick "Install TWRP".
After that go back to the stock backup thread and flash the backup that matches your CID and firmware.

Look up what firmware is, it should be easy to find answer.
RUU is firmware + ROM.
ROM Upgrade Utility
If you are on custom ROM, this saves a step. Also when new OTA hits you can flash firmware and stay on your ROM of choice.
