Need some help here. So I thought, it would be a good idea to tick 'require password to start'.
Problem is: When I reboot my device, it asks for my password but there is no keyboard to type it in. I figured it is because I deleted the google or stock aosp keyboard as I'm using Chrooma. Nevertheless, pretty stupid. How can I reset my password?
Really need urgent help, I need my phone tomorrow.
Already tried to wipe everything but internal storage and restore my latest nandroid (which does not have ANY screen security) but my phone still asks for that password.
Happened the same. I had to clean install a ROM i had there and set it up like a new device. Im curious as well whats the issue so take this as a friendly bump

Go to recovery/advance/file manager/data/system and then delete 5 files. Two of them take the extension *.key and the other three start their name by lock*. *. Delete all of them and reboot system. Pin or password won't be required. Once you can open your phone, from settings you will be able to select and set the way up to block your screen again.

Did that, still asked for the password. Wiped everything, still asked for the password.
Format data and sideloaded OxygenOS, finally. Android is pretty secure, lol.
Yeah, sure! ?

Hi there, I came to this forum searching for an answer to how to root a Huawei G510 (U8951), remove Chinese stuff and install Google apps (Play, Maps, Gmail, etc.) on the said device and turns out I could not find an answer. At least partialy, as there was a link to htcmania, a spanish forum.
As most of you (and me) can't speak spanish, here is a quick guide to do all those things to your phone.
I don't know if I'm required to, but here goes a warning: doing ANYTHING from this guide can brick your smartphone, make it otherwise useless or void your warranty. I'm not saying that's a remote possibility, or if anything goes bad I can help you easily, I'm saying that's very, very likely, so if you'll follow this guide rest assured of these facts.
First of all, you must assure you have the right phone, as the G510 has multiple versions (0010, 0100, 0200) sold in different places around the world. This guide was intended to be used on a G510-0010, U8951 (Unicom version) of this particular smartphone. As far as I'm concerned, it does work on 0200 (Orange Daytona as sold in Spain), but I can't assure.
Secondly, you'll need a micro SD card, so if you don't have one you can't go any further. Buy one and come back.
Part 1: Root
That's the risky thing to do, so if you're faint of heart stop here.
Step 1
Download the boot.img from B165 rom.
https://mega.co.nz/#!G8QCRYDA!Wy1773Iw27m5OHpCVPfL5TpmH-o9olgV19TlCAvNsas
Step 2
Download UnlockRoot
http://www.unlockroot.com/download.html
Step 3 (optional, and G510-0010 only. If you won't update your phone's firmware, jump to step 5)
Download the latest version of your phone's firmware (B182, mine came with B168 version)
http://download-c.huawei.com/tcpsdo...category=cn&flay=software&downloadID=NDIzNjA=
Step 4 (optional)
Extract the contents of the firmware file, then locate the dload folder. Copy it to the root of the microsd card. Now you can apply the firmware update in 3 different ways: a) turn your phone on while holding both volume keys, it'll put your phone on update mode and install the update.app you downloaded, b) open the update app from the tools folder on one of your phone's homescreens, c) go to settings -> about phone -> system update. The update software will tell you the process will take about 2 minutes, but that's a big whooper. Here it took almost 15, and almost freaked me out meanwhile.
Step 5
Now do the same with the boot.img you downloaded (extract, copy the dload folder to microsd card root and use one of the three means to flash the firmware file). That time it'll be very quick.
Step 6
I'm assuming you have the drivers for your device. As far as I can remember (the cellphone now belongs to my GF) they're in your phone's virtual disk you get when you plug your phone to your computer. If not, Google Handset_WinDriver.exe and install it. Turn your phone on, go to settings -> Developer options and turn USB Debugging on. Now hook your phone to your computer and run UnlockRoot, hit Root, wait until your device shows up and click on it. Wait until it asks you to install some crapware and answer no (you can also answer yes, that's your choice, I'm not telling you what to do or anything...). Now your phone is rooted, with SuperSu and other software installed, and ready to the next steps.
Part 2: Google Apps AND multiple languages
To go beyond this point you need to have your phone rooted. If not, go back to part 1 and root your phone.
Step 1
All you'll need to download now are apk files you can find here on xda, so I'm not giving specific links. You'll need:
ES File Explorer (or any other rooteable file manager)
GoogleServicesFramework
GoogleLoginService
Play Store (phonesky.apk)
Step 2
Install ES File Explorer, then go to Root Explorer and remount /system as RW. Copy the other apks to /system/app. Now long press each of the files you copied (it can only be done one by one with ES), then hit properties -> change and check all the boxes in column Read, on the column Write check only User then uncheck all other checkboxes. The permissions will now show rw-r--r--. Restart your phone. When it starts it'll probably show you the "optimizing apps" screen and Play store will show up in one of your home screens (as this phone has no drawer for apps). Once you logged in with your (or created a) Google Account it will be able to install any app from Google play store and you can also enjoy the "amazing" Huawei store. Not finished, you can get really amazed with the WoStore (from Unicon's Wo 3G carrier).
Step 3 (kind of optional to most of you here)
If you bought this device on China or Hong Kong (as me) you'll notice it only supports natively Chinese and English. I'm not a native English speaker (as you can tell for my bad English skills and terrible spelling), so I just went to Google Play and installed More Locale 2, opened it and choose Brazilian Portuguese (my native language, in which I also don't excel).
Step 4 (optional... at least if you speak Chinese)
Once your phone is rooted, you can uninstall most of the apps that came with it, as most of them are system apps. Except for some things you can remove everything with a Chinese name on it. Some apps can be worth keeping, like QQ (an IM widely used on China), but you can also download it from play store.
Bonus Part: Common issues
(I'll update every time I find a new one)
After some days of use this cellphone showed two, easy to solve, problems. Here's the solution.
Issue 1: Google Stuff disappeared after some days. Also a crash warning pops out when the phone turns on and the play store just blinks when I try to open it.
Issue 2: On the Play store, when I try to download stuff, I get an "RPC:S-5:AEC-0" error.
As far as I can tell that's not a device specific issue. But luckily, in my case, both had the same solution: You just need to go to the settings, find the Google accounts, then remove them, add again and enjoy.
I have G520 - Anyone tell me which of these steps to follow (files to use) just to root?
I'm sorry, never tried to root a G520.

I notice you install the software/rom before rooting
Does that rom need rooting first or doesn't it matter?
Doesn't matter. But if you update after root it'll unroot your phone.

You shouldn't try a different model's rom. If you're stuck at boot you should try the stock rom http://download-c.huawei.com/tcpsdo...category=cn&flay=software&downloadID=NDIzMzk=
It seems to require you to get an account before downloading.
I tried rooting as per (installed B165 rom) and its now stuck on the splash screen
Is it dead now?
Flash the stock Rom and see what happens

And by the way, I'm just assuming that's your phone's stock rom. Make sure it is before flashing or you can damage your phone irreversibly.

I found a stock rom that worked and its back now - still now Google on it - do you know where I would find and international/European rom for G520?
I've just installed G520 USB driver and ran G520 Root program
The phone now has "superuser" app
Does that mean it's now rooted? |If I connect my G520 as USB drive should it look any different (folders/files)?
Does that mean I can now use a different Rom (which maybe includes Google Apps)?

Big thank you for taking the time to translate this information. It helped me tremendously and I now have a Rooted G510. for future reference to other readers of this post on my G510 under settings>system>About phone>system updates. this allowed me to flash the firmware with out doing the Hold Power and both volume keys. It made setting up the phone so much more easyier.
Just for reference my phone is the Huawei ascend G510-0010 this was a phone direct from china. Google play is now installed and the phone is working perfectly.

You can try, but keep a backup of your personal data and files and the original firmware, so if anything goes awry you can roll back. Also, keep in mind I never tried this on this specific model, so if you try it's risky and I will not be able to help you.

Thank you, I will.
I just rooted my AFTV a while ago and everything seemed fine.
Installed the Slideme app and it seemed to work ok.
Tried to install Aptoid. Seemed to install then could not be found on the device.
Attempts to uninstall or reinstall failed. Said already exists.
Now all I get is [INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE]
I've uninstalled several apps including Slideme and get the same thing.
It always shows 2.35GB Available.
Would resetting fix/restore it?
I don't care if I loose root right now.
Thanks
Ouch! That is unfortunate.
FWIW I have Aptoide installed and it runs great. Not sure what happened to your box. Did you do anything else?

How many apps have you instelled? Have you checked to see if your /data partition is full?
Update - [INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE]
Decided to reset.
Trouble re-registering box - probably due to update blocking also block device reg. Had to remove block.
Did not loose root - re-installed everything (SU, busybox, xbmc and stickmount) and have 4.81GB avail.
Where do you check the data partition? - Thanks

First I removed the update blocks I had on my router.
Then I thought maybe it wouldn't register because it was already registered.
So I signed on at amazon.com and de-registered the FireTV. - then registration worked after a short wait.
Everything is good now.
Good to know everything is working fine after restore with root.
But did you do the host file block and/or the disable com.amazon.dcp before the reset? This would be important information for others.
Thanks

So you did not edit the host file, right? In another post someone can't register after reset but he edited the host file and also disable the amazon.dcp.
So probably the amazon.dcp is restored with the reset but not the host file. I wonder if only disabling the amazon.dcp is enough and probably safer.
Thanks again

Host file edits
I did not edit my host file (glad) . Looked back at instructions.
http://www.firetvnews.com/how-to-block-ota-update-for-amazon-fire-tv-and-keep-root-access/
Warning
Be sure to restore your Hosts settings back to default BEFORE factory resetting your Fire TV.
KillerJoe is probably right. Disabling the amazon.dcp might be enough and safer.

I've updated the post to include a warning. I've also reordered the methods so that disabling the package is first and labeled it as recommended.
I've also put up a new post detailing the two most common ways of bricking.
Forgive the newbie question but I want to make sure I do a factory reset correctly. From my understanding if I changed the host file in Host editor I will need to change it back to default. But if I did it through ADB pm "disable com amazon dcp" I dont need to change anything back or do I?
That's correct by the reports so far. But to be on the safe side, i would also enable amazon.dcp before a factory reset. At least for now.
Enviado de meu GT-N7100 usando Tapatalk
People need to remember that factory resets usually only wipe cache and data, they don't touch system apps. That's why most of the time you can do one, then just reinstall Superuser and still have root because the su binary the root package installed is untouched.
In case anyone else is worried about resetting there FTV here is what I did and it works perfect.
1) I deleted the 3 host files I created to block the updates
2) I changed "pm disable com.amazon.dcp" and just changed the word disable to enable
3) I still had the update links blocked on my router and had no issues registering, nor did I have to delete my account in Amazon (like others have mentioned)
4) The only mistake i made was i uninstalled the amazon photo app and forget to add it back from my uninstall recycle bin before i reset. So now I have no way of getting it back but didnt care for it in the first place. Hope this helps someone else.
5) remember to turn usb debbing back on it turns off after the reset, which i forgot at first.
6) As others have mention i did not lose root after the reset.
Hello!
I'm stuck with a huge problem. After hard reset, I can't sign in to any of my Google accounts which were previously used on my LG G4.
I try to sign in with my main Google account, but it still says that I should use another one.
This safety system is ret**ded.
I really need my phone back for my work and I have never occurred such a stupid problem in all 6 years of android experience.
How can I bypass it? Please, I really need help this time.
Fixed. Thanks!

2. You have to login using the exactly account the phone asks you to.
3. Once set up just sign out from all of the accounts(the one the phone asks you to enter)
4. Reset the software
5. that should be fine now
Thanks for the answer, but the problem is - I've already made two resets in a row.. The first time, after the reset - I was asked to change my password for the main account. After the password change, I was not able to login with my main account. I logged in with another, which was added before. It worked. After that, I made another hard factory reset and now I can't do ****. It sounds stupid and it is stupid. I'm stuck in the "verifying your account" screen, my main account doesn't work.
