VM 816 not turning on - Desire 816 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have had my VM Desire 816 for a year and a half .. One day on a Sunday going to church , with a full charge, it started to lag on me and i tried to reboot it and when i tried to turn it on it would not turn on..
I guess my question is, is there a way to salvage my phone without spending a small fortune to repair it?

if i remove the bettery and keep it for some time to get cool than it work fine but after some time same problem.

Where are you from? If you still have warranty, why dont you send it to service?
Sent using XDA app from my Desire
I am in Qatar and htc told me that my warranty is not valiid. and i did the big mistake also, i open the mobile i.e i open the back housing/panel.
How hot does everyone's desire get when browsing internet or playing some games.I've only just noticed mine getting hot at the back of the phone near the bottom.I know this is where the processor is but only noticed it recently. It has not rebooted as yet though.
mine used to get hot but id only had it a week took it back for a replacement and got it swapped and now it no longer gets hot just slightly warm when its being used a lot but nowt to trouble me
mine was also jst getting bit warm but after few days it got so warm and start rebooting.
frnd u dont wait anymore give it back to htc..
there are so many faulty desire have been sold.

Desire randomly reboots!?!

My brother's Desire keeps rebooting when he surfs the internet for a prolonged period of time. It first started a few months ago whilst he was rooted and on Leedroid.
It still happens now after a full RUU reflash and being unrooted. Anyone know what could be up? I plan on doing a warranty call on it.
I had the same thing, sent it to HTC they replaced the mother board and never happened since. I think a component cannot take the strain and cuts out.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
What's the process like when sending it back to HTC?
How long does it take and what do they ask for?
mine was rebooting also when was unrooted
i got motherboard replaced in five days
the process may depend on the Country or supplier. Normally the device is returned within one week.

ummm....maybe the battery.Just try using a different one. If when u are plugged the phone works fine then it must be the battery...but really don't know. just guessing.
i tried reflashing the rooded official rom by nitr00..
it switched on by itself but it started to switch off when i inserted the sim card..
i then removed it and set up the phone.. but when i opened google maps it switched off again..
i then connected it to the charger and opened google maps it worked fine..
while connected to the charger i opened the camera app.. tried to take a picture and it switched off again.. please help me.. is it a battery problem or is the ram or processor fried.. please reply..
I'm no expert, but similar kinda things used to happen to my HD2 with Android....I used to turn on GPS or try and use maps or when it got above a certain temperature, it would shut off, or just simply reboot etc.
In the end, worked out it was a knackered phone, so sold it as 'spares or repair" on Ebay & bought the Desire HD.
No problems with this phone...touch wood!
I reckon something on the mainboard is going wrong.....tried turning it off, giving it a full charge, then turning it on and still happen?
Repair would prob, no, definitely cost more than a good condition model off Ebay...so either flog it as spares or repair and get another, or put the cash you get for it towards the HTC One X or something similar..yummy yummy!!

I concur that this is definatly a hardware issue since you have tried multiple roms.
A. My first question is the phone still on warranty? If no, then first I would try just getting a battery for your phone off of ebay ($4-$15 normally) thats 1600 mA + made for the Desire HD or Inspire 4g. (Both are virtually identicle).
If this does not fix the issue then I would say its a fault in your phones motherboard and I would look into getting a new phone or a good condition one on ebay (be careful with this, make sure you are buying from a reputable seller first)
B. If you're covered on your providers warranty still then I recommend taking it there to get fixed immediately cause if your warranty expires while your phone is en-route to them or before they finish repairs they will charge it as a non-warranty meaning your basically just buying a refurbished phone from them.

[q] htc one x dead?

hi to all i have a BIG problem with my HTC ONE X 32gb. My batery was at 50% and i just unlock the phone and started the mobile internet connection and open internet browser. Suddenly the phone blocked and i turned off the phone then started back. Then i entered the pin number and the phone turned off. After that i can't start the phone can't recharche even when i put the usb cable to PC it doesn't recognized at all like i didn't connect anything. I tried hard reset but nothing. Then i read some threads here and try to leave the phone 24 hours on charger but still doesn't wanna start. Can someone tell me any advice to start the phone? i consulted technitian and he told me that it's bricked and that this is software problem. i use android 4.2.2 for 2-3 weeks and this happend wtf can be wrong? thanks for advices.
Can be all sorts of problems, faulty battery, os that's getting wrong info, other hardware failure. No start = no fix ! Get it repaired, or hope that it will magically boot up sometime
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
i gave it to tehnician and he told me that he will test the batery and that it's probably the faulty batery because of the nature of the problem. but i will know i a couple of days.

[Q] One X Screen taking progressively long to turn on

Hi,
I have searched the forums for a problem like this but in vain, so posting here.
I have an HTC one X (international) running stock 4.2.2
After upgrading to 4.2.2, I noticed the wifi was not working properly and the network signal was also intermittent at best.
I sent the device to HTC for repair, and was told that the motherboard needs to be changed. I had to shell out INR 13.5k for it, which is almost 60% of the cost of the phone today.
I got the phone back with the problem solved. However within a day, another problem has cropped up. on pressing the power button in locked state, the screen takes a long time to light up. I have tried factory reset a couple of times, tried power+volume button, everything under the sun.Initially after reset the phone will lock and unlock fine. However within 10-15 minutes the duration for screen to come to life increases progressively, sometimes taking minutes to turn on.
Is there any solution for it? I'm sure HTC has stuck in some refurbished old motherboard in this, but i dont want to spend any more money on this..
Thanks

I also had this exact same issue, but it is gone now when i upgrade HBOOT and update the kernel..
my data is lost but hey it's worth it :silly:
And i was rooted before and running 4.1.1 ARHD, the screen-on is a lot faster but i love all the extras the Sense 5 give
so i stick with it..
