Just flashed stock MM after coming from cm13. Allow mock locations no longer listed under dev options. the 'choose mock locations app' option is still there. Is this root related? If not, how do i get it back?

As I understand some of the ROMs run a set of cab-files aftewards. Is it possible to make an option that enable a user to choose a directory on the memorycard with cabfiles to be installed the same way on setup?
I ask because I need to innstall norwegian keyboard and settings, ant it would be nice to install the most usual cabfiles as well, would save me some time as I'm trying several of the ROMs issued here, and backup not allways compatible.
I don't believe this is possible as the phone does not see the card until the device is booted. Thus, this is why an extended rom is used onboard the device.
There is some apps that can do that. Not Automatic but you can choose 1 folder and then it will install all cab's inside that ROM.
I never used the option, "protect USB storage", but recently a favorite app stopped working after going from 4.3 to 4.4.2 on my N7 2013, after the developer got back with me, he stated that it was because I enabled "protect USB storage" (which I did not) and that he fixed it by adding READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission to his latest build.
Out of curiosity, I went into developer options and discovered that there was no longer a "protect USB storage" option there, am I looking in the wrong place? Or was it ever there? Or did Google enable it then take out the option?
Thanks in advance.
In last hour my phone has decided it doesn't know where it is.
Weather and maps don't find my current location. I didn't alter any settings and all are set up so my location can be found.
Other devices in the house detect location OK.
Any suggestions ?
Cheers
So this just happened suddenly; or is there anything that changed on the phone to possibly cause it?
You say "other devices in the house". Does this mean you are actually indoors when trying to get location? While the device can often get a GPS lock indoors (depending on the type of construction and other factors) its easiest outside, with a clear view of the sky.
Also, check what is selected in Location settings; or even try each of them to see if there is any change in the condition. "High accuracy" will (obviously) give you the fastest lock. On the other hand, "Battery saving" is WiFi only, and should give you a (rough) location even if a GPS lock is not possible, unless your WiFi network for some reason is not associated with a location. In contrast, if the mode is "Device only" (which is GPS only) and you can't get a GPS lock, its normal that the phone won't come up with a location.

Wipe all in TWRP including internal storage(backup your data/music/ etc first), flash rom via sideload or via usb otg or ext card. That's how i fixed my location not showing.

Did something similar. Used an ruu to go stock then back to custom, worked but don't know what problem was.
I had full file encryption on my phone so I reformatted and am still unable to find Direct Boot "Convert to file encryption" under developer options.
When I use the search feature under settings it finds "Convert to file encryption" but just takes me to developer options.
bump, anyone figure it out?
Recently I got this new phone and I very stupidly updated to android 12 to check it out, expecting that I can revert back to android 11 with a simple factory reset (why doesn't it revert to factory settings, but instead stays on the update wtf???). That's an annoyance and I could live with it if it weren't for the grayed out permissions on some apps which I can't turn off. I don't remember all the apps / system apps that have this, but the "Settings" app is one of them and also if you go to the file manager, there will be apps which are normally not found in the standard app viewer and one example that has grayed out permissions is an app that has "12" as an icon and might be the theme for android 12 or something related to it. How do I completely turn off location for both of these for example? Is that even possible? Would I have this same problem of grayed out permissions even if I had stayed on android 11? Please someone help me, thank you.

Hello,
It was never possible to restore to an older version of Android by factory resetting the device. Factory reset only removes user data. Doesn't remove the OS, doesn't downgrade it.
I haven't tested this particular thing, but it's very likely that Android 11 might have had the same permissions. And yes, some of the permissions can't be changed, since they are used by the system.
However, at least for what Location is concerned, you should be able to simply disable Location access altogether. Not sure if those system apps can still access your Location even when turned off, but that's another story.
Hope the answer above help you at least a little bit.
