CM13 and no possibility to change ringtone/notification/alarm to custom one - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hello,
I´m using CM13 nightly 030816 and I´m facing one problem since I first installed CM13 one week ago..
I can´t change ringtone/notification/alarm to an individual custom one.. my custom sounds (mp3) are in there folders, but aren´t shown in settings.
In the meantime I read about changing sounds in themes app/setting, but there I can only find standard design.. when I click on sounds to edit them, nothing happens.. I postet this already in the official CM13 thread, but my post was sadly ignored
hope someone can help me.. it´s annoying to not change any sound to custom one

Download a File Manager from Google Play Store (e.g. ES File Explorer), then when changing your ringtone/alarm you will be prompted which app you want to use to complete the action. Choose the File Manager and select your desired audio file.

doesn´t work.. I have ES File Explorer.. I´m not prompted, to choose action to complete.. that´s my problem.. I have no choice to use file manager or something other.. it´s the same thing in every CM13-build.. I was hoping, this wouldbe fixed in a future build, but since my problem is ignored in the CM13-thread, I don´t belive this

Clear all defaults. Use the search tool, use Google. When you can't get your answer from others you must find it on your own. Download a ringtone picker/maker. If still not promoted backup, wipe everything and clean flash. ,

Accidentally deleted stock Task Manager!!

So i just installed the new BM 5.0 and i was deleting unwanted apps via Titanium Backup pro .. i was doing it so fast that i accidentally deleted task manager! now everytime i click on the widget "Active Application" it fore closes! i tried to look for the stock task manager in the app store but could not find it! is there a way to undo the delete without doing a nandroid restore?
Use the feature in Titanium that can pull apks from cwm backups. You should be able to fix it with that.

1) Open TB
2) Go to Backup/Restore
3) Option soft key
4) More
5) Extract from Nandroid backup
6) Pick Task Manager
I personally tried it once and it didn't work for me, worst comes to worst I'll upload you the JobManager.apk (I assume that's the one you're talking about? The Samsung task manager?). But I assume it works, otherwise they wouldn't include the feature.

To install it, you'll need a file explorer with root access (ES File Explorer, ROOT File Explorer, etc.). Then you'll have to move it to /system/app (to get to /system you'll have to go one level up from /sdcard to get to the root folder /). Make the permissions read "rw- r-- r--" (how you do that depends on what file explorer you use) and then reboot. Should fix the issue.

It'll be an option in root explorer along the lines of "root access". I don't know the exact process because I use ES. Play around in the settings of root explorer until you find it. By default it's disabled to prevent users from actually screwing with their system operating system without knowing what they're doing.
did not find anything under settings but there was a button that said Mount R/O or Mount R/W ... so i selected the file to move then i went to system/app thrn i clicked the mount button on the top and it worked! Thank u so much for ur help and fast responds! u really saved mr from alot of grief.

Yeah it's the same thing, you're just allowing the system position to be written to. No problem. Is your task manager working as usual now?

Was it working fine when you first installed it? Either way, there's always 5 generic steps you should always take first when trying to resolve an issue:
1) clear application data
2) reboot to recovery and clear cache
3) clear dalvik cache
4) fix permissions
5) reboot
See if that fixes your issues

Install apk from sdcard using your internet browser

What if you need to install an apk from sdcard but you don't have a file manager installed yet, and to make things worse you don't have internet access to download it from the market!
Well, there's a solution to that. Provided by every internet browser available.
(I suppose you have one installed
Here's what you need to do:
1. Put the apk file in the main directory your sdcard. Rename it to something very short for easy typing. In this example, I will use "fm.apk".
2. Boot your device. Goto Security Settings and check "Unknown Sources".
3. Open your internet browser. In the address bar type "file:///sdcard/<filename>.apk".
In our example above it should look like this: "file:///sdcard/fm.apk"
4. Press "Go".
That's it! Installation started!

You could also do
adb install /sdcard/name.apk
If you were feeling like a pro.

Or, instead of trying to remember browser commands or adb commands, just skip all of this madness and grab a flashable .zip that contains a file manager! ~
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills over here, kids.
If you don't have a flashable file manager, just grab the one I made on the WildChild ROM thread (Post #1). Copy the .zip to your SD Card. Done. Don't ever worry about flashing a ROM without a file manager ever again.
I will give this a try.Looks interesting

Danceoff, this is for people who are trying to PREPARE for flashing ROMs on the fly. Ie. They have access to market, file explorer etc NOW but won't LATER when they actually do the flash.
I don't have service right now so my phone is basically a tiny tablet, and I'm a flash-a-holic. i flash ROMs on break at work, on the bus, etc. This is very handy for me. Thank you.

Camera Fix for MIUI "cant connect to camera"

Let me start by saying that i do not take credit, by any means for this fix, i did use the SEARCH tool and found the solution. What i'm doing is posting a faster/easier fix for the thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2196200
All of the help i read, is from this thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2102981&highlight=miui+camera.
Our common issue was that each time we flashed an AOSP ROM(for me the new MIUI PORT FROM SPRING TO SHG3 TMO) the camera wouldn't connect, and that's a deal breaker. Im sure it was for many of you. (I'm a noob, just giving a heads up, and this is why i have to post here rather than the first thread, being understandbly limited and all) As the 2nd of the two threads says, the issue is that on stock rom there is a bin file named SlimISP_ZH.bin, once flashed, it's no longer there, causing the camera to simply not connect. I odin'ed back to stock(because i didn't have access to the bin file), used ES File Explorer to "copy" the SlimISP_ZH.bin file into my external sd card, then i proceeded to flash to the MIUI ROM of my choice, after setting up the phone, using ES File Explorer again, i placed the bin file on the /data directory. If a mod can confirm it's ok, i'll be more than happy to upload the bin file to make it easier. Oh one last thing i changed permissions, so it should show as rw-r--r--

Reboot after copy to System/app

Hello
I rooted my HTC Desire 820. But something must have gone wrong, because whenever i use" es explorer" to copy musicfx.apk to the system/app folder the phone just reboots.
The app has root explorer on so as an un-experienced user I am running into a dead end.
Can someone please help me to get this solved so i can install in the system folder.
Or does someone have a solution to get an working equalizer on the phone?
=> the normal equalizer apps from the store don't always work as they sometimes just don't seem to change sound.
As for the build in "boomsound", well it is pretty **** on my phone, bass turns into cracking noise and the highs are to damm high. (Working with sennheiser urbanites and sennheiser 300 CX II so I think its not the hardware)
Thanks in advance
If ur device on s-on, u can't make system app from es file manager.. if u want make musicfx.apk or any app as a system app then copy apps in system app folder and give the permission (rw-r-r) in twrp recovery mode.
In recovery mode first mount system,
Then file manager..

I did that but now when i reboot from recovery (any of the 4 modes) I get rebooted into the recovery part again. There is no way out.
Needed a Factory reset(restore didn't work either)
This bug in the recovery...
Power off ur device from the reboot option and leave it for 1or 2 minutes..then plug the chrger then power on ur device
If this is not worked..
Press volume+and volume-and power button after some time screen goes black and then release the both volumes button nd keep pressing the power button try this mant time..

Try this, download aroma file manager zip file.
save apk files in sd card
now flash aroma zip file in recovery mode and it'll open a file manager. now just locate and copy the apk file from your sd card and paste it to system apps folder in root dictionary. Now reboot your phone and check app list. :fingers-crossed:

Thank you for the reply!
I tried for several hours but I just can't get the specific app to work. Might be a wrong app for my phone. I don't know. So I tried to get the beats audio, which I was used to, and loved with the sennheiser urbanite, from my HTC one x+ on to the HTC 820. This worked (altought it can't be turned off).
Sound is good now but once every reboot the OS tells me " MusicFX(the first apk) has stopped working". I can't seem to find any app through play store, app manager, file manager, that carries this name.
I will make a new post of this problem.

I tried that to. But when i came at a step that said, "open viper and it will ask for update, run update" it just said it could not find one. Then it said the phone doesn't have BUSYBOX yet(wich it had).
Anyway,I had connection and followed all the steps of the guide(link below).
But when the step using busy box came up, pressing the instal button in the app made the phone reboot instantly.
Could this have anything to do with s-on/off?

Change built-in file manager?

I would like to change default file manager but it seems that some links to it are hardcoded in LOS so for example if i uninstall it and replace it with fx file manager some
apps can't access it because they are calling to that default one which is not there anymore.
Any tips on how can i replace it, or where can i change those links to default app?
The default file manager that you were using has the package name "com.android.documentsui", and you generally see it when you have to choose a file for an app. Only here has it been turned into a full-fledged file manager. That was a system app that you weren't supposed to remove, so your only option is to install another file manager app alongside the default one.
Hi i'm with the same problem, i need a default file manger that can accese root so other app can get accese to root folder. Is there a way to resolve?
Here is how to replace the stock file explore with the root accessable one.
I'm gonna priovide the best filemanager fully featured, called mixplore, which i highly recommend. this file manager can access root directory.
watch Mixplore review from HERE
NB: make sure you have a root access
1. download Mixplore
2. install it on your device then open it
3. on the left then click on "root" then grant root permission when prompted
4. go into system/apps/documentUi OR system/apps/cmfilemanager
OR system/apps/files. If your on other roms apart from cynogenmod, lineageOs or RR-Os.. go into system/apps/filemanger
in case not found in app forlder try priv-app, i.e system/apps/..
NB: not "document" its "documentUi"
5. open the that last folder on the directory i.e file manager, swipe right and go into downloads copy the Mixplore.apk, then swipe left back into root/system/app/___ and paste the mixplore and delete the stock filemager from that folder
6. restart the phone.. now you have replaced the stock file explore from your android.

This method creates problem when trying to access sd card or otg, mixplorer ,though fully featured, will also need permission from documentsui to access externals,it will show error "doesn't exist x
Best way is disable documents ui from showing icon in launcher
