Hallo, I wonder if someone could explain the differences between the marshmallow firmwares for the LG G4 (H815) like the v20A,v20B, v20C...
Thanks
They are different updates by LG released throughout the year either via OTA or Lg bridge...fixing software issues lag times etc ...v30 for MM, v20 for LP for g4

thankyou. Yes i know, but now which version is supposed to be the better one for daily use? I rode about battery issues with some updates and other generic problems.... for example some has a g4 (with stock rom but I dont know which) that, with normal use, has a 4h display usage in a day before it turns off. In my case (i tried some different stock roms) i arrive at 3h of active display in a day at maximum. What do u suggest?
thanks

I have S5 for over a year, and now i can extend my contract and get G3 for free, or i can get S6 for about 180$..
So i want to know is it worth it, Is overheating fixed when brightness is on 100%, does it still automatically get down to 90°% when hot, i know that my friend had problems when he got it a year ago, is it fixed by now? Any other problems? This will probably be newer build model of G3.
Thanks
I got both devices S6 and G3 and the G3 still heats up and the brightness goes to 90% (D855)
LE:Still like the design of the G3 more than the S6 even if the S6 gets ~66k points in AnTuTu opposed to 28k that my G3 gets.

Its a lot better with Stock V20H, any firmware version less than that and it sucks crap
I had the V20H and I wasn't that impressed with it. It still felt laggy and unresponsive at some time now I'm running V20i and still not a huge improvement, I'm waiting for a 5.1 rom that looks like the original Rom.

Yeah this would be the best solution.
Hi all
Question is in the title really. Should I upgrade my Tab S 8.4 LTE to Lollipop?
I'm worried about performance issues, battery life etc, as KitKat seems fairly stable. Does Lollipop increase performance/battery life or make it worse?
I have not rooted my device as I want to be able to send it to Samsung in case of any problems under warranty.
Also, my friend has a Tab S 8.4 WiFi and he has Lollipop on it, however I find the colours/contrast are worse on his tablet then when compared to mine. I didn't notice this before when he had KitKat. Does Lollipop have more contrast etc compared to KitKat?
Lastly, if I did upgrade to Lollipop, can I officially go back to KitKat without rooting etc, and will this be a hard process?
Thanks
You can go back you have to download kitkat frimware from samsung site then flash it with odin

Thanks. Do you have a link which shows all of the firmwares that are available on Samsung's website?
Also, do you recommend upgrading to Lollipop or staying with Kitkat? The font and colours look smaller and washed out on Lollipop compared to Kitkat or is that just me?
Here is the list with lollipop and kitkat http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-T705/ it is really on you buddy try flashing lollipop see if you like it keep it dont go back to kitkat it is really a personel thing im on lollipop

Do you have a Tab S 8.4 too?
And also, how can I get the official EE 4.4.2 KitKat Firmware? Are the firmwares on that page from EE? (I have selected UK)
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-T705/EVR/
here is the exact link, then click on 4.4.2, dated Sep 29, 2014, to download the firmware
I suggest that you upgrade. Lollipop is now fairly mature on the T705, there are a few deodexed ROMs which you can use Xposed with, and even f2fs, the new Samsung fast file system for flash memories. My Tab runs now way faster and smoother than with KK.
I have Tab S 8.4 T705 LTE version
I upgraded to Lollipop using odin without any issue ( had to format) and i used ( helium ) for backing up my apps+appsData
after i upgraded performance has been MUCH increased 40%
battery life increased by at least 60%
moving between screens 50% faster
I have a SIM card on it and running it on 2G with no data connection and I only use WI-FI for net
i use it for ( movies , games, reading) , approx 2-4 hours/day, with JB doesn't complete a full day, but with LP 2 days with no charging are easy and some times 3 days
in JB 2 hours movie cost approx 40% of the battery , in LP 20%
i played criminal case game for 1 hour , in JB at least 40% - 50% , but in LP 20%-30%
deep sleep is MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH improved in Lollipop
i didn't root and i'm not using any kind of battery saving or what so ever
im utilizing whatever comes built-in with it from samsung or google and no 3rd party
hope this info will useful for u

Hello,
Since I updated to MM, lot of things went wrong. Few days ago I got 3-5 hours SoT, and now it is really bad.. this morning it shows 1 hour estimated left and the phone is hot.
Instled GSam, will post screenshots later today.
What's the problem?
did you do a factory reset after updating to MM ?

I have noticed a similar effect on mine, but not so drastic. I used to get over 4hrs+ Screen Time On using Lollipop. Now 3 hours or less. Factory resetting didn't help.
Yes, everything wiped, all reset.. so no old data. MM is not as good as LP :/

Thank you for letting us know. Was thinking of installing MM but I value battery life over everything else.
..Sent from an XDA modified LG G4 on Verizon..
Yeah mate, np.. keep with Lollipop, MM is really worst. I'm using my G4 for about 20 minutes and already lost 10%. Battery life is incredibly low
I'm seriously thinking about downgrading to LP.
I tried going back to LP, but this didn't work for me. I thought I has bricked my G4, but thankfully LG Bridge managed to restore to factory settings.
As well as draining the battery twice as quickly (at least twice as quickly), I can now no longer pair my G4 with my car (so I can take calls by pressing a button on the steering wheel). Bluetooth just keeps crashing on the G4.
I wish I could go back to LP easily. After my last experience trying to install LP KDZ, I'm not confident enough to try it again.
Which tool/method did you use?
On the main MM battery life topic, it seems that the downgrade is successful through LGUP soft.
Am on same boat as you guys. Now, I updated my wifes G3 with MM and the battery time is far better than on Lollipop or on my G4! Go figure[emoji15]
Ok so, I found the okayest fix: if you use custom ROM (like Genisys), flash the stock kernel, it's much butter.
At the moment, no more battery drain/random reboot/overheating . :good:
Seems that SUPEREX kernel is faulty.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24269982087005245
I found that the battery is almost 50% on MM compared to LL. From MM i often set the "economy mode" (or what's the name) and turn off wifi and bluetooth wehn I don't use it.
Using it with LG what is almost impossible, the watch drain the battery too much.
Luckili:
1- 20C is out, we have just to whait, I heard that on 20A battery has not that huge battery problem, so maybe they found a bug in the 20B
2-you can carry spare cheap batteries with you, I have always one in my jean poket...
1- I'm going to update to 20c ASAP (downloading right now..)
2- the issue was related to custom kernel SUPEREX integrated in Genisys ROM, flashing stock fixed it
3- I have an extra LG battery + charging cradle and a thin power bank (10000 mAh)
I wanna ask if does anyone have Marshmallow rom for LG G4 H818P or know any pieces of information about when it's gonna be available on LG G4 H818P?!
Thank You.
Its available in some countries.
If you want to upgrade to it yourself you can look at certain posts like this one

Well the OTA update's now available. Upgraded a few days ago & now the battery's very awful during usage. Heats up. It's worse when you're connected to the Internet. Curiously enough it's OK when it's idle. Anyone out there with an idea?
I noticed the same issues on worse battery usage and heat up. In the update bullet point, it included improved battery usage but in reality, worse! Hope next upgrade will cure these issues.
Since i updated my G4 i experienced overheating issues and poor performance .. I tried various tweaks but nothing helped .. I now using Cyanogenmod 13 but it is not snappy like stock and apps are opening much slower on CM .. At least performance is good, no heat at all and battery is better .. Any suggestions what to do ?
Hi dude,
I have just updated to V20A Brazil, security patch 01.05.2016, and things are great. No overheating and a ton of battery life. Make sure to REFURBISH instead of update - just to make sure.
Good luck!

LG makes it so confusing, to think that a ROM version 20A is more updated than a 20D.
Hello!
Yeah, it's a bit confusing. The way i understand it is that they code the versions per country or region. As Brazil just got MM, ver. a is the first ver. for them but it carries the latest security patch and fixes (it's more updated than g Turkey).
Cheers!

My LG G4 h815 is on v20D and have exactly the same issues... Not only that but also losing network sometimes as well as the phone struggling to re-connect to Wi-Fi or connect to data and it gets to over 40 degrees in no time. Haven't had those issues before hence logged request with LG to have my phone fixed as somehow I have a feeling that it might be related to S/N 505xxxx hardware issue though no bootloops yet.

I would disagree that it is purely software issue based on the fact that we had v20D since probably February and no such issues were observed until very recently without having anything new installed on the phone thus linking this to being more of a hardware issue made worse by pretty bad software update.
I think quite a lot of people noticed the faster battery drain and quicker heating of the phone with v20D which could have impacted the components on the motherboard (I've read about components de-soldering and getting lose because of that).

I have brand new motherboard and i have the same problems ... I installed many custom roms and there is no problems with temperatures at all .. It is sofware
I switched from the official MM release to ressurection remix because of this. Unfortunately it was even getting more worse - at least not better. Then I got a hint that this may be kernel related and installed the minamo kernel in RR. Now it is much better imo. So I think you should try another kernel it may solve this problem for you, too. If using a stock firmware you could try one of the other custom kernel out there for stock ..
