Since i updated my G4 i experienced overheating issues and poor performance .. I tried various tweaks but nothing helped .. I now using Cyanogenmod 13 but it is not snappy like stock and apps are opening much slower on CM .. At least performance is good, no heat at all and battery is better .. Any suggestions what to do ?
Hi dude,
I have just updated to V20A Brazil, security patch 01.05.2016, and things are great. No overheating and a ton of battery life. Make sure to REFURBISH instead of update - just to make sure.
Good luck!

LG makes it so confusing, to think that a ROM version 20A is more updated than a 20D.
Hello!
Yeah, it's a bit confusing. The way i understand it is that they code the versions per country or region. As Brazil just got MM, ver. a is the first ver. for them but it carries the latest security patch and fixes (it's more updated than g Turkey).
Cheers!

My LG G4 h815 is on v20D and have exactly the same issues... Not only that but also losing network sometimes as well as the phone struggling to re-connect to Wi-Fi or connect to data and it gets to over 40 degrees in no time. Haven't had those issues before hence logged request with LG to have my phone fixed as somehow I have a feeling that it might be related to S/N 505xxxx hardware issue though no bootloops yet.

I would disagree that it is purely software issue based on the fact that we had v20D since probably February and no such issues were observed until very recently without having anything new installed on the phone thus linking this to being more of a hardware issue made worse by pretty bad software update.
I think quite a lot of people noticed the faster battery drain and quicker heating of the phone with v20D which could have impacted the components on the motherboard (I've read about components de-soldering and getting lose because of that).

I have brand new motherboard and i have the same problems ... I installed many custom roms and there is no problems with temperatures at all .. It is sofware
I switched from the official MM release to ressurection remix because of this. Unfortunately it was even getting more worse - at least not better. Then I got a hint that this may be kernel related and installed the minamo kernel in RR. Now it is much better imo. So I think you should try another kernel it may solve this problem for you, too. If using a stock firmware you could try one of the other custom kernel out there for stock ..

Hello guys,
I'm thinking of buying the LG g3 which for me is the best phone right now. However, I have seen it has some bugs regarding overheating, WiFi drop, bad battery life etc.. Do you think it is still worth it or should I go for a Z2 which has the same price in my country (Spain). Regarding the overheating issue, a lot of people say they have it and a lot of people say they don't... Is This just chance or is it linked to a specific model and version?
Thanks

As the overheating, since I upgraded to v10L firmware, overheating issues it completely gone for me, even after 40 minutes of playing Real Racing 3 on max detail mod or Dead Trigger 2 for about half an hour. It still heats just like every other device ( HTC, Samsung or Sony) but it doesn't get to extreme temperatures which turn off your phone automatically. What are those other bugs you are refering to?

I have my LG G3 for 2 months now and I never experienced any random reboot, except for 2 times when it said the reason was extreme temperature, but that got away after updating firmware and never happened again. But it was only when I had first firmware. I also use ART as runtime which is considered to be buggier and more "app crashy" than Dalvik, but I never got any crash or random reboot.. Usage of unoptimized apps can random reboot any phone. As for LG software, LG's apps and the most common and most widely used apps work perfectly without any hiccup. You should never experience any error, crash or random reboot. At least I didn't. Always try to use trusted and well optimized apps if you want the best experience. Also don't install any battery or RAM cleaning apps, that **** just slows down your phone and drain your battery rapidly. It depends on you if your phone will random reboot or not. It's not just LG thing, it also concerns HTC, Sony, Samsung or any other manufacturer. You can ask my sister, she installed few cleaners, RAM boosters, 1 optimizer and 2 battery boosters on new Nexus 7 which should be most stable Android experience, but her battery life got worse and she does often get random reboot. So treat your phone well and it won't random reboot anytime
What's up folks. When I typically get a new phone I switch to GNL because I like the interface. On the other hand, zen UI is not terrible at all. I have ZE551ML..great phone all around up there with the best, but the battery drain is significant..can it be that I'm using the google launcher and zen UI is still using system resources? What have you guys done to optimize battery life? Should I go back to Zen UI? Thanks in advance for the input.

I can already guess you have the 4GB model, but regardless you're not the only one experiencing the rapid battery drain as it's a recognized issue amongst us. This is definitely not necessarily the phone's hardware at fault alone, but most likely the android 5.0 software itself is unstable (the memory leak bug) and is desperately in need of an OTA update to a later version. You can join the discussion about it in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3004268
Unfortunately, there is no immediate remedy for this with especially the 4GB model and it's even harder to rectify since we don't have a solid rooting method as yet. All we can do is wait and try whatever possible to reduce the drain until Asus can at least send another patch update to optimize the battery consumption.

Thanks for the heads up. I will head over there and hopefully we can make some progress.

No problem, I hope so too and good luck. Also, I'm pretty sure that the Taiwanese peeps have already reported the issue, unless it's only a Worldwide model problem.

I wanna ask if does anyone have Marshmallow rom for LG G4 H818P or know any pieces of information about when it's gonna be available on LG G4 H818P?!
Thank You.
Its available in some countries.
If you want to upgrade to it yourself you can look at certain posts like this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64518905&postcount=1805
Well the OTA update's now available. Upgraded a few days ago & now the battery's very awful during usage. Heats up. It's worse when you're connected to the Internet. Curiously enough it's OK when it's idle. Anyone out there with an idea?
I noticed the same issues on worse battery usage and heat up. In the update bullet point, it included improved battery usage but in reality, worse! Hope next upgrade will cure these issues.
Hallo, I wonder if someone could explain the differences between the marshmallow firmwares for the LG G4 (H815) like the v20A,v20B, v20C...
Thanks
They are different updates by LG released throughout the year either via OTA or Lg bridge...fixing software issues lag times etc ...v30 for MM, v20 for LP for g4

thankyou. Yes i know, but now which version is supposed to be the better one for daily use? I rode about battery issues with some updates and other generic problems.... for example some has a g4 (with stock rom but I dont know which) that, with normal use, has a 4h display usage in a day before it turns off. In my case (i tried some different stock roms) i arrive at 3h of active display in a day at maximum. What do u suggest?
thanks

I've heard the reports of the Nexus 5x bootlooping due to the Nougat update, but is it triggered from the Nougat update or is it just from use of the phone over time? I haven't had problems on mine and I've only ran Pure Nexus 6.0.1 since I've purchased mine.
You can update to Nougat, the bootloop issue is a hardware failure, probably cpu or emmc (or both chips).

How many Nexus 5x phones have this malfunction? Like is it a small percentage or all of the phones will get it sooner or later?

I think that there is a lot more devices than it should, with this bootloop issue. It's clearly a manufacture deffect, but we do not know yet what percentage of them are affected, or if all the N5x phones will bootloop eventually, unfortunately we haven't official info (from LG or Google) about this issue, anyway it looks very similar to the G4's trouble (bad solders on emmc or cpu). I really can not help you very much with your doubts because this looks like a recent issue (majority of them). But we know solidly it's a hardware failure (some phones will boot if you leave him on the freezer for a while or if you do a homemade reflow with a hairdryer, these are symptoms of bad solders).

Oh, i'll hope so, i use CyanogenMod 13 (6.0.1). But unfortunately people who has stock 6.0.1 suffered this issue too, is not something inherent to Nougat. Initially we all think that 7.0 OTA was causing the bootloop but the failure seems to be related with the phone age (the bad solders apparently only last between 9 and 14 months) this coincides with the release date of Nougat 7.0 OTA (not preview), so a theory is that the stress caused by that update (a entire OS, not just security patches like every month) would make that the cpu or also the flash memory work at full capacity during the installation process and this could cause overheating and probably contributing to the degradation of the solders and after a few hours/day even a month it's finally going to break up. Obviously it does not occur to all 5x wandering arround... and we still do not know enough about this (but looks like 2015 LG flagships devices troubles).

Yes, it's complicated.
While my phone is still under warranty (I hope) I decided to upgrade to stock Nougat with OTA. After all, probably the only way to find out if it bootloops is to install the update. It went pretty smoothly for me. I am pretty happy with it. Some people reported battery drain issues with Nougat, but I haven't noticed that yet. If it happens, I guess I could root the phone and install wakelock detector.
Mine bootlooped on Marshmallow August patch so..
