[Q] Updated OTA 4.4.2 - Lost root...now what?

Hi all, sorry if this question is a bit pre-mature given the update just came out. I was rooted prior to the update and had VooDoo OTA installed. Long story short, the update went horrible but I was able to recover to stock and receive the update again (which worked fine the second time).
In all of this, I did lose root and was wondering if there is a way to regain it now or do I need to wait for someone much smarter then me to figure this out? Ultimately, all I really need root for is wireless tether.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Is your bootloader unlocked? If so you can just flash root and it'll work.

Is your bootloader unlocked?
Also, off topic and purely for personal reasons, which wireless tether do you use? I seemed to have issues making any work properly when I was rooted and running stock ROM.
Sadly, bootloader is locked.
For wireless tether, I was just using the stock tether but did the "entitlement check" change to use it. Need root to do it again.
Given that I have a locked bootloader does it mean I'm out of lock period or just until someone figures out how to get past it (assuming this happens).

As far as I know there isn't a way to root the latest OTA on a locked bootloader. So yes, it would seem you are out of luck.
Just got OTAd. Alllllot faster n mature than JB.goodbye to weird visual n sound jitters.
Only problem is,
CANT LIVE WITHOUT ROOT
any ETA for that baby to come?

Do you have a different source for the CWM file? When I follow the link to that page and click on the file to download it, it opens a new tab and displays as HTML/text rather than saving as .img downloaded file.
Please help - thanks!

Android pay on rooted lgg4

I have a rooted lg g4 vs98613b
Is there a way to get android pay working fully or no. I did some research and no go for me
I have tried many different ways to get this to work. I've tried hiding root, removing SuperSU, and, many many McDoubles later, AP will only work on stock unrooted firmware.
Ya, one of the downsides to having root
I installed Xposed and tried hiding root, but no go. Still have not found a way to make it work while phone is rooted unfortunately.
I guess when my VZW phone eventually gets 6.0 I'll have to make a decision to keep root or upgrade and finally be able to use android pay....
I have a Nexus 6P and it looks like Google blocked it. We used to be able to use systemless root and remove some SU files, but now that doesn't work.
I didnt know i had replies in here. Ya it sucks not to have it and i love the nfc feature

Pokemon go workarounds

Has anyone had any luck getting Pokemon go to work with s rooted device?if yes what steps should I take
Systemless root on MM build allows you to have a rooted device and Pokemon Go.
Guess I'll have to look for that, and update to mm..

I can't get my SM-T700 Tab S Working with Pogo. The CM 13 i'm running is SELinuX Permissive which Safetynet detects.
Couldn't find away to make it Enforced and most Custom Roms out there are all permissive 6.01.

I hate being a newbie with dumb questions but... LG G2 D800 device-Im reading a lot, and trying to learn the ways of XDA, but theres only so many hours in the day.
I was rooted and had TWRP, CM13, MM. PoGo worked after deleting the .su files from bin.
I didnt like MM though. Did a restore/downgrade to Lollipop. Somehow lost root and TWRP in the process. Now PoGo not working, I assume bcause of custom ROM.
It would be awesome if you could share some knowledge how to keep my current ROM but pass SafetyNet check to play PoGo?

You need Suhide to hide root as well as Root Switch. However, Suhide only runs on Marshmallow

Switch between Root and Unroot?

This maybe the stupidest question Ive ever asked. Can I continually switch between my currently rooted and an unrooted version of the device by simply uninstalling the super SU app?
The reason is this : I need to install BES 12 on my phone and for some reason RootCloack doesn't seem to work and the app still won't register. Is there anyway I can switch between Root and Unroot in that sense?

Current root situation for EVR-L29?

I haven't seen much discussion of rooting in the last year. Is it as simple as unlocking and installing Magisk?
I've been putting off upgrading to EMUI 10. Should I stay with 9.1? Can I upgrade before or after unlocking/rooting and still have root?
I see this website is still advertising unlock codes for $45. Are they reliable? Is there any better alternative?

With a locked bootloader aside why root it? No need. Its an almost perfect phone.

I agree that it is an almost perfect phone, but I also use it for some development work with a Bluetooth keyboard while plugged into a USB-C monitor.
There are a few cases where I'd like to have raw access to the network interfaces with wireshark as well as being able to configure a few keyboard shortcuts that aren't possible without root.
I won't be installing any ROMs, just want root.

Root isn't possible once phone is updated to 10, Huawei changed the file-system to EROFS (Extendable Read-Only File System) preventing any changes that would allow to unlock the bootloader. I've updated and lost root, haven't spent the time to roll it back to 9.1. But from what I've read, I'll have root back once I do.

I've used root to get around Huawei blocking user from 3rd party launchers as default and to uninstall all the bloatware that they pre-install.

I bought one over a year ago for ~$20, and it works on this phone only up to Android 9.1. As I stated in reply to robsmith11, root isn't possible once phone is updated to 10, Huawei changed the file-system to EROFS (Extendable Read-Only File System) preventing any changes that would allow to unlock the bootloader.
