Have searched and searched but cannot find something directly pertaining to System Rom memory full.
What would cause Rom being full and what can be done to make it not so? It's a stock rooted system and all apps that can be have been moved to SD card and everything not needed uninstalled. Handcent, Dolphin, and everything else could think of is set to save cache to SD card as well.
Here's a pic

My recommendation would be do a Nandroid and save your apps with BT.. and do a hard reset and see if that fix the problem.... I never had this problem before.....
Edit: Now I want to know too... cuz my is acting weird now too...
260MB (24.7 MB free) can anybody tells us why this happen....????

Was traveling yesterday so wasn't able to do any research but no matter what I do it will not get above 7.66MB free. Now after reloading the time doesn't auto update when crossing a time zone... gotta find that too.
Ben,
That's the way it is due to amazing silly usage of resources by HTC in the Incredible. du ./system = 260M and that's it. If you're using the stock system, then it just happens to add up to about ~7M free. Unless you're going to reapportion all the initial partitions, then you can't do anything about it.
All the ROMs are the same unless they've made radical changes, but all the ROMs will have different amounts of free out of the 260M.
If you want to 'fix' it, then you've got all you need if rooted and have TB. Just use ADB or a terminal emulator to do something along these lines (being careful and taking notes so you can retrace the steps if needed):
1) su ; mount system r/w (you can tell which partition it is using 'df' or 'mount' command from a shell and it is of type yaffs2
2) cd /system/app ; ls -l *[Hh][Tt][Cc]* ; ls -l *[Ss][Ee][Nn][Ss][Ee]* and check out which are kind of sizable. All you care about is stuff that is under ./system/... because things like handcent and other userspace apps are really in /data/app, and have nothing to do with this problem.
3) When you locate a few (you can do 2&3 in reverse if it makes more sense) big ones, then use TB to 'freeze' as many *SENSE* and *HTC* as you think you don't use (be careful or you'll have to restore a backup). If it's running OK with the things frozen, then you can return to the file system (./system/app) and delete the ones you've frozen. You can tell from TB which filenames go with which apps you've frozen.
4) Delete them or move them if it makes you feel safer to /sdcard/{create a dir here}.
5) df ; and look at free space in /system. It should be getting larger. When you've got ~20-30 free, you've got plenty for most things, and can remount /system a r/o (read-only).
--------------
Why? For example: If you wanted to install, for some reason, one of Lou's kernels, where he for some reason, uses separate modules for everything (It is nice in desktop linux, but sucks in the droids), then they'll go into /system/lib/modules/* and eat up a ton of space (Like 25M), and basically fail on your current system.
If you use one of Ziggy's kernels, he tends to compile all modules but Wifi into the kernel itself, coming up with a similarly sized kernel as Lou but with the functionality built-in. I use all the functionality so I like that, but if you're using the stock kernel and don't care, then forget that.
HTC did some nutty stuff with this thing, like /emmc having 6+ GB but none of it is of much use to most users, then /data/data which is where all the userspace programs keep their data and libs, is tiny, giving way to the 'out of space' message when installing programs. Google Earth, for example uses 30M in libs itself.
The only reason I used the syntax *[sS][Ee]* etc, was because I fixed this up long enough ago so that I forgot if Sense and HTC apps were case sensitive (I mean used upper case and lower or some combo of those), so this is just covering bases.
If you don't use much social networking stuff (99% of HTC & Sense apps), then you don't need a lot of /system/app files and will do OK. If you use all of that, then I suppose you're stuck unless you can locate other things you never use. (there has to be stuff you don't use). If it gets deleted from /system/... then it releases space to you in what you're calling the system ROM.
Use caution -- Changing anything from /system is asking for trouble, so make sure it's not a showstopper.
Good luck - Hashi
Thanks hachamacha for all the info. After looking at the /system and /system/app folder, I can see several files that I care nothing about. I'm going to do some research and try and find some dependencies on some of the files cause seeing files like stocks, twitter, newsreader, friend stream, radio, and amazonmp3 could clear up a lot of room. Just don't want to freeze/move any of them then discover they are a requirement for some other function.
Guessing I only need to clear up a MB or two as the only time I see the warning is when installing a program or have several running at once. It doesn't lock up and require a batt pull, just freaks me right the hell out.

You may want to checkout Autorun Manager (free app from market) to see what apps startup automatically, and more importantly, have interdependencies with other apps/programs.
Specifically, it tells you what apps have receivers, and gives you the ability to disable programs from autostarting. It's another way of disabling an app or program temporarily instead of randomly disabling/freezing apps in TB.
Might help. Might not.

Kewls and thanks. That it will tell what depends on the programs is what I'm looking for. No time to list all of them, but I froze about 20+ apps with TB. Didn't have any troubles all day yesterday but maybe can *.bak them and move to computer until needed.
Hello,
I have no idea why the app I installed from the app market named as app2SD Pro could not move the apps to the SDCard of Kindle Fire.
It can only goes to UnInstall page and info for each app.
Anyone handle it?
Or any app that could make Kindle Fire choose if the new app should be installed directly to SDCard instead of default RAM?
Because the apps2sd moves the apps to the external SD card. The Fire does not support SD cards.
You do not need to worry about app storage
There's a partition on the Kindle memory that's mounted as "sdcard", so wouldn't apps2sd move it to there? There doesn't seem to be a difference between an external sdcard and the Kindle parition "sdcard", except that the partition isn't removable.
Why would you bother moving anything? You have the same amount of storage whether you use the sdcard or not. It's not a real sdcard, just a partition of your internal storage. If you run out of room then sure, use it, but I can think of other things to stick on the sdcard partition (like media).
My Kindle Fire's internal storage is nearly full but my SD card partition is showing 5gb free. There must be a way to move apps. No problem running apps from the partition, there are apps that automatically installed to the SD card partition. Any ideas?
Give this a shot....
Look at the memory being used by both areas under Devices.
Using Titanium Backup, press and hold on one of the larger apps until a menu appears. On that menu will be an entry to move to SDcard. Use it.
Now go back to devices and see what changed...
Apps2SD doesn't do that because when you click on an app, it doesn't give you a move to sdcard option.

Thanks, but my Fire isn't rooted and Titanium Backup won't work...tried it.
You can use the following commands to move an app to the sdcard partition...
Code:
adb shell pm install -r -s /data/app/your.app.here-1.apk
or
adb shell pm install -r -s /data/app/your.app.here-2.apk
You would have to be rooted, so you should definitely consider rooting your device as it makes these tasks easier.
An alternative, root not required, is to pull the apk (use "adb shell pm list packages" to find the name of the app) and then run "adb install -r -s your.app.here-1.apk".
Plants vs zombies
hey mate,
I can see you have plants vs zombies installed, but i tried everything to get it to work and it wouldn't, it keeps exiting or telling me that my device is not supported.
I have a rooted KF with a modded stock rom which has google play + store installed.
Can you guide me on how to get it to work? I even tried the honey comb version and it keeps exiting at the loading screen.
Thank you, but this game means a LOT to my daughter who
cheers

have you tried downloading it from the android appstore instead of the google play store?
ok, for FINAL FANTASY 3 android, I have been struggling for over two weeks to get this thing to work on my phone. My most common error was lack of space on my phone. I've gone through deleting apps trying to make enough room for it, but it wont install.
XPERIA PLAY has 300mb of internal memory (which is CRAP!). I have a 32gig micro SD card (mostly for games), but there's always the APK file (which is usually a couple megabytes) which installs the game, then the SD card content which goes onto the SD card.
I've been able to free up about 191mb on my phone, but it still wouldn't install. After two weeks of failed attempts to download an .APK file, I decided to buy it. Turns out, it looks like it's 172mb.
Anyway, I bought it...but I'm having difficulty installing it.

apparently it is 172 mb. I only had like 100MB free...so I just went through deleting ANY apps I could to get 191mb free...but it still wont install!
So, I'll keep working on this and hopefully I can get it working. I'm getting a refund and I'll keep trying with standard APK files.
After checking a couple things, I looked up APPS I could delete (note; I have a rooted phone), and so using ROOT EXPLORER, I googled some apps pre-installed on the phone which were safe to delete to free up more space. Somehow, I deleted som'n which allows me to view pictures. So, the image below (not mine..I just googled it)
I use that "music/image/video" widget thingy a lot for images..but it doesn't respond. If I use root explorer to get to my images...the error pops up that there are no suitable apps to view the image with. I tried to download a free app for image viewing..but they wont work.
I feel like an idiot...but does anyone have the .APK file I need for viewing images (preferably the one that comes with Xperia play). Or, does anyone have a link for all the default apk's that come with Xperia play (like a back up copy). Stupid me, I didn't back up my APK's and I don't know what I deleted which is dis-allowing the photo's from viewing.
Thanks in advance.

Here ya go http://www.4shared.com/zip/WlYkbLL4/Archive.html?
Unzip the folder
Install the app using a file manager
Drag "com.sonyericsson.xxxxxx" to Android/Data
I don't know what to do with the properties file, find it out yourself
BTW, who's the hot chick in your picture?
if you had read the whole thread he said its not his phone he googled the picture
Sunjay140
The picture is a google image I randomly looked up that had the screen shot I was looking for
Thanks for the file . I tried to install the APK file and got an error
so when I try to install it...it immediately says "there is a problem parsing the package".

"he" is a she. If you look closely, you'll find my name is Nina (thought the "girl gamer" gave that away)
what firmware are you using, that problem happens when the app is for newer firmwares and the user is using an old firmware ,have you tried forcing the app in system then apps then reboot ?
Edit. sorry I didnt look at your name nina and didnt notice the girl gamer

I'm still using GINGERBREAD 2.3.2.
I've tried multiple times to use PC companion
to update the phone (at first, to IceCream Sandwich, but I heard that SONY isn't releasing a firmware update for Xperia play. Then when I heard JellyBean was released, I tried to upgrade again. The problem is, Sony PC Companion wont connect to the phone.
Xperia play has two form of connecting to a computer. 1 is "media storage mode" and 2 is "media transfer mode". Storage is for accessing the MICRO SD card and transfer mode is for the PC companion upgrade etc.
I'd like another way to upgrade it, but I dunno how.
have you got the correct drivers installed otherwise it will not detect your xperia play ?
Shaun27
I have uninstalled and re-install the program multiple times. In fact, this last year since I've had an xperia play, I've never been able to get the phone to connect to the program. Tried different USB ports + different USB cables. Even brought my phone to a friends' place who has an xperia play who updated his phone, and my phone wouldn't connect.
The drivers are NOT the program (pc companion)
You need to install it to make the computer able to communicate with the phone

I think she is saying her freind has the correct drivers but it still didnt work.Have you used flashtool before if so you can flash the newer firmware you require but if you really only need the gallery app then I wouldnt mess about with updating because 2.3.3 is probably the most stable for playing games . you can install the gallery app just post a thread on here asking for the stock gallery app from the 2.3.3 firmware
edit ,your on 2.3.2 the same as me at the moment I have just tried installing the apk sunjay posted and I get the same error so you defiantly need the 2.3.2 gallery apk then it will install .
two quick and small updates;
I was able to find a gallery app which basically does the same thing. It's not exactly what I was hoping for...but i'll get by with it now.
secondly, someone recommended me an app called link2sd (which admittedly I didn't expect to work).
Installed link2sd. There's a feature in there where you can control install location (internal or external)
I selected external, and launched final fantasy 3 ask to install it, and it installed in seconds. It's now downloading the 170mb...
this looks promising!
I was going to say just install one from the play store ,i think there is one called 3d gallery thats very similar
NEW ISSUE (note; thanks you guys for your feedback on the previous one)
I installed Xperia CWM Auto-installer (mostly because I have never experienced booting up my phone in recover mode...so I thought this would do it...it didn't!)
I selected the "install cwm" button which installed with a checkmark. I then clicked on the "reboot into recovery" button.
Now, every time I turn my phone off, and plug it in to charge the battery, it turns itself back on.
If I turn my phone off without being plugged in, it stays off. But when it's plugged in, it'll turn itself back on.
I've even turned it off and waited a couple minutes, then plugged it in (to charge it) and within seconds the "sony xperia" logo appears and it turns on.
i've uninstalled and re-installed and uninstalled this app a couple times and tried to make it stop, but it keeps re-booting every time I plug it in to charge. In my experience, I make sure I don't have it plugged in all night/over night to preserve the battery. I try and charge it every other night and I prefer to have the phone turned off for the recharge. I don't want the phone ON all the time. And I don't want the phone turned on overnight (plugged in charging).
Any feedback please?
From just looking at that picture you've got the wrong phone model selected it should be r800
Sent from my R800a using XDA App
that's a google image picture. I have the R800a
Issue resolved; I installed this and it seemed to fix everything
I've been having this problem on my i747(16GB, 4.1x JB, rooted with CWM) for a few months now, but they just got worse as time went on. I've yanked every possible picture, video (what few I had ), and apps I could think of; I copied off/deleted old CWM and TB backups, and it STILL gives me the dreaded "not enough storage space" message. The last time I recovered about 2GB, but that lasted less than a month, and that's AFTER I set the camera to store on the extSDcard (8GB, has about 6.3GB left this go 'round), and moved the maybe 2gb of music I've had lately.
I'd show you the Storage screeshot: but I don't have enough memory to take a picture--it only has 392m available now!! :WTF: so I took a picture with my tablet:

I started that process about 40 minutes ago... And it STILL hasn't reported anything!!!
Also, I cannot uninstall anything, either thru the application manager or the play store. I've booted to recovery, wiped cache (no option in my CWM to wipe dalvik), wiped dalvik with CWM app after boot, and deleted every possible app, text, and picture I can find--oh, and the picture gallery won't open because I don't have enough memory. I've dug thru every possible directory with ES File Explorer, and deleted everything I can think of that was expendable... And still no luck. I can't gain squat. And I STILL can't get the phone to uninstall any apps at all. AT ALL.
And: this go'round took less than three weeks for the phone to clog itself like an overloaded toilet---i thought only Winblows had this kind of memory problems!!!
I'm working now on copying any data I can, and making an app list, before I try a factory reset. I've unmounted the extSDcard, and will remove it before I reset.
But I still need advice. I need to know what's going on, what's wrong, and how to fix it for freaking good, because given the logarithmic rate of decay I'm seeing, the next clog up will take about a week--and THAT will send me into a psychotic break and probably into the back door of the nearest att location with a silenced uzi! [/I'M JUST KIDDING HSA!!!]
Thanks in advance...
I had a problem similar to this, although not quite as extreme but it turned out to be the lost+found folder in the /system folder (i think, there is one there and on each sd card). Not sure about ES explorer but root explorer would show it as empty until i gave the folder full permisions, and even then couldn't modify it. I ended up using the file explorer in TWRP to delete the contents of the folder. With CWM you can load up aroma file manager from the recovery and delete the junk that way. If you've never used it before you 'flash' it like you would any other zip but it doesn't actually flash anything, just loads up into memory and gets dumped when you exit so it shouldn't be a problem with your low storage.
So, this all started, because I was annoyed that Dolphin Browser, wouldn't let me save directly to the external_SD\download folder. I googled, and found out it was a thing since 4.4, that writing to the SD card was kinda wonky. Anyway, I did the "fix" where you add those lines in the platform.xml file, and bluetooth no longer works (something I use every day, so it's important to me). I deleted the file and restored my backup, which at the very most, stopped the bluetooth toast error from constantly appearing. Now, I can no longer take screenshots, or use the camera app. I also noticed that sdcard0 no longer shows as an active directory. Everything appears to have been moved to emulated\0. I have used Root Explorer to try and change folder r/w permissions, to no avail. I'm wondering if having Apps2sd move everything to the sd card, the day prior, aided in this debacle. I have tried using the apps on the play store to fix the sd issue, which just tell me that it's already fixed, even though it isn't.
Is there a known fix to this, other than wiping and starting completely over? When I attempt doing a factory reset, do I need to have the rooted image on the root of the internal memory, and by that I mean, do I need to re-access sdcard0, or will it work on the emulated/0 mount? Will this cause a boot loop?
I am on 11A, and rooted.
I have read all the threads I could on this, but I didn't really see a solution.

i know the feeling but it is best to KDZ 11A on your phone and then reroot it to be safe. there is a way to get the SD card fix without messing with the XML file, i have 1 app but i cant post it on here but i do some looking around tomorrow and i let you know the best one you can use to write to SD card, i got y G4 unrooted to do a video, so once i get it rooted and do some looking around. i let you know
my youtube channel can show you how to use a KDZ file
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDnfyWhSEEo
dont use the same file that i used, just use your 11A KDZ if you want to stay on 11A. if you want to use 13B please use the LGUP tool dont take the OTA cause you may be pushed to 25A
