Having major problems with my G3; started last night. I noticed that my phone was on the LG boot splash screen and was unresponsive. I reseated the battery and it seemed to be working fine after that. However a couple hours later it was completely dead. If I reseat the battery and turn it on now, The LG screen comes up for a couple seconds, then shuts off. Never get the Verizon screen. I tried to do a factory data reset on it, and get the menu but once I select Yes, the phone goes back to the LG screen for about 2 seconds then shuts off. I got it to go into TWRP once, but it shut off before I could do anything with it. It'll boot into download mode, and my system detects the COM port, but almost immediately the phone shuts down. The phone was running fine before this happened. Any thoughts? I'm really scratching my head over this one.
TLDR:
- phone rebooted last night, won't boot now. Keeps shutting off before I can get anywhere.
Sprint too
Same thing happened to my Sprint G3 on Saturday. Had over 90% battery and was texting a friend back and forth. I put it in my pocket and about 20min later when I took it out it was dead and wouldn't power back on. I took the battery out and put it back in hit the power button and the LG splash screen comes on, then phone dies and can't get a response from the power button. I can do that over and over, but it never gets past the splash screen. Tried to get into recovery, but when I do, buttons are unresponsive and then it just turns off.
Stock ROM, never rooted.

I don't think this is a battery issue. I have 2 batteries and the problem persists using either one. The first is the original battery that came with the phone and the second is an LG stock battery purchased through LG in April (only 3 months ago).
Update 7/12
I followed kp263's advice and ordered a new battery. Put it in the phone and plugged the charger in for a bit and..... same problem. Won't boot past the splash screen. Just turns off.
This is more than just a battery issue. Hopefully I can return the new battery I purchased.

I saw the thread where people were having random restarts, I was having them myself. Went to bed last night with the phone on (my alarm) and woke up this morning to a G2 stuck in boot loop. Pulled the battery and waited five minutes, the phone just loops over and over at the g2 screen. I really hope this is an isolated incident...but it's not looking god seeing as many other folks are having random restarts.

With the phone off, hold down the track pad and press and hold the power button. Once in boot loader, look for the option to wipe the phone. I don't recall what it's under. I do know you get there by holding down the track pad and power button, though.
Thanks dude, it recovered and is working fine. I'll be going back to tmobile today and exchanging it for a new phone if there are still any left in stock. Let's hope that all of these first round hiccups this phone is having will be fixed promptly.
Two weeks ago my galaxy just stopped working. it was at a decent battery; just stopped. I tried charging it but the phone would vibrate. phone would come on, then shut off. I tried it multiple times and same result; a few times the phone would make it to the samsung startup animation, sometimes it would just flash the samsung logo, once it compleley got to my screen start before shutting off.
I brought my phone to get fixed. It took a whole week and the guy said my phone was just not fixable. It would work for a few hours then shut off again, according to him. I suspect he didnt work much on it though as hed rather fix phones with easy problems as mine was a tough one.
I've had to replace my phone with an iphone now, but right now, out of curiosity, I completely took my phone apart, and started using tweezers to play the power on button. The camera part just broke off (not the actual camera) but now my phone is actually charging! The red light is on, and click the main button, it shows the battery being charged. This has not happened ever since the phone broke.
Am I bricked? Is there hope for this phone??? Please tell me there is lol.
EDIT: My phone seems to have restarted! Turned it on and it's asking for my simcard what is GOING ON LOL

idont know what you did there, but it worked plus you gotta be more specific to how the phone broke and could not boot-up to screen

It just randomly shut off. It was if someone would constantly be turning the phone off as soon as I turned it on. But then I couldn't even charge the phone. No red light, no screen, nothing, just vibration. I would try to turn it on sometimes it would get to the boot up, sometimes not, sometimes nothing, just a vibrate.
I literally took tweezers and lifted the green board out from around the power on button (it's an actual tiny white button on the inside). and then it randomly started working again

Could be a power button failure. Happens somewhat often.
Could be battery related too, a cheap replacement battery could strike that off.

agree with what he said, it could be a problem with the power button or battery is not working
off topic did you really get 176Mb/s download or is it fake
if its real then was it WIFI or DATA , i have never topped 50Mb/s both wifi and data) but DATA seems to be 10x faster than my wifi
Hi guys, seems i never learn my lesson on backing up.
Well my g3 had died a few times on me, each time getting progressively worse. Last time i ended up replacing the battery and it was fine.
This time i was just using my phone and it died. Then wouldnt turn on. Battery was atleast 80% but still thats the first thing i did. Ran out and bought a new battery but still the same issue.
Tried everything listed including trying to get into the hard reset menu, but i get no response from the phone, not even a light. Tried the battery out and start button on for min then plug in charger or battery and still the same (no response).
Ok left it over night and the next day i tried plugging it in without the battery, it switched on and complained about the battery. SWEET !! so i plug in the battery and then pressed the on button. Phone loaded up after what i thought was a loop in the boot up but then the main screen wouldnt respond. No response to buttons, swipe (no password) or double tap.
So i tried restarting the phone. Back to the old problem.
Tried this again this morning after leaving it without battery in over night i got the same response but didnt get as far before the phone died itself.
Any ideas what to try next ? If not would anyone know how i can buy a working one and get the data off this one (if possible) as i have quite a few shots of my little one i would like to get off.
thanks in advance.
I have a LG G3 D851 from T-Mobile. I had it from about two years now. It upgraded to Android M about a year ago and now the phone won't charge or turn on. I tried everything. First I tried to hard reset' but nothing. Next I tried refrigeration. The phone would start up and go to homescreen, but then freeze and shut off. I even bought a new battery, but it would still have the same problem. Sometimes tne phone would start and shiw that screen on but nothing on it, and it would also turn on and turn off then show the led flash red and blue. When I charge it, it would show the battery loading up and shut down, then the phone would keep restarting. Like I said, tried every thing. If anyone could help me that would be great.
Thanks

I would start with replacing the battery. It has been a wbile since i have had a g3 but this was a common issue. The batteries were known to bassicly just keel out
The solution is a simple one.
1 remove battery
2 connect charging cable (I am not kidding)
3 power in the phone
4 the phone will try to boot
5 it will fail to boot or maybe it will boot
6 insert battery while the charging cable is still attached
7 power the phone
8 the phone will boot and show 100% battery
9 reboot phone
The next video shows my phone working without the battery...

Hello. Im sure there is plenty of such topics in the forum, but I believe, that my case is specific and I hope we could resurrect my phone somehow together.
So last night I just send a WhatsApp VoiceMessage to my friend as suddenly my phone started shutting down, just like if it had 0-2% battery power... But it actually had over 40% battery life... I thought ok, yeah, might be battery, so I plugged in the original charger and the phone didn't show any signs of being alive. Then I've unplugged charger, toke battery out, plugged charger back in and I saw that its still alive, telling me "please put the battery in, there is nothing inside me to be charged". So I placed battery back to the phone and guess what.... It shows no signs of being alive again, the battery wouldnt charge... Then out of panic I started to do random stuff like holding power button for 10secs for soft restart, holding power button and volume down button for what ever that was... Plugging charger in and out like crazy... The phone was just dead! So I had to give up... I toke the battery out and let the phone lay for like I dont know 2-3 hours. Later on, I came back, put battery inside and tried power button + volume down again.... woohoo!! , it worked, my phone started to boot! I thought this is it! Hes alive again, but ahahaha.... 6-7 secons during the boot, it just turned off immediatly. I thought yeah, must be battery, so I order new, original LG G3 battery... And while the order was on his way to me, I managed to charge the old battery after letting the phone lay for 2-3 hours and then plugging charger in again. It started to charge... I let it go up to 66% I believe and tried to turn on the phone again.... Guess now what? LG intro screen poped-up and the in left corner I just saw something with "boot error blah blah geeky stuff" and suddenly red and blue LED started to blink, red/blue/red/blue/etc... and the screen just turned off.... I couldnt do anything.... So I removed battery again and waited for my order... Next day I got no success turning my phone on with new battery.... I was playing around with different button combinations and remove/put battery and conclusion is.... The phone is dead except if you let lay without battery for few minutes... Then you can start charging battery for example... After that you can try to boot it, but it will just shut down immediatly after few seconds. Or you can try to boot it, but again, it will shut down immediatly and then you cant do anything until you let it lay without battery. I also managed to access recovery mode but I didnt start it, because I would like to get at least my data back somehow.... The phone is not that important as the data on it. I also tried to access download mode, for recovering my data, but without success....
LG G3 D855 Europe version
Lollipop 5.0 OTA version
Not rooted, Not modified
Any help would be really appreciated. If its impossible to resurrect the phone, can I save at least my data somehow? What would I try, please?
[Edit]
I just tried to start factory reset for sake of god.... Found some data recovery software on the internet, that might help after factory reset, but phone just shut down immediatly after I confirmed that I want to reset and nooow.... I see the LG logo like it would try to boot for already 20minutes and nothing happens

Thats what it appears normally when this happens a new battery is most of the time the fix....
Only other recommendations are try different usb cables and charging blocks....
As well as if you did not purchase a legitimate G3 battery I would try to purchase a new oem battery....There are cheaper aftermarket ones But I am one the the stick to oem type To many quality control issues imo...
I know Lg dont have the best track record for quality control either.....
