I broke oneplus 3 touch screen - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Any help would be much appreciated. Story starts like this. I purchased brand new OP3 before 8 days. Today accidentally my daughter dropped the phone and broke the digitizer(touch screen). It felt from the couch on the tile floor(less than 15 inch height) Now i am stuck with the new phone and broken touch screen.
I did got in touch with the Oneplus customer service yesterday in USA. They have repair facility in Texas. ****ONEPLUS WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIR UNDER THE WARRANTY AND THEY WILL NOT SELL ORIGINAL REPLACEMENT PARTS TO THE CUSTOMERS OR DO ANY REPAIRS OTHER THAN THE WARRANTY .SO BEWARE++++
On eBay there is couple of sellers from China that sell digitizer`s(touch screen bundled with display) but aftermarket parts for the phone are not as good as original.
I did not buy extended warranty for the phone when i purchased the phone itself.
Where can i buy original parts? Any help is much appreciated

If that does not work you can contact customer support of one plus. Read the reddit link below

That's why I say you get what you pay for. It is important for people to know that the $400 only gives you what comes in the package. You are on your own once they get your money.

Is it oneplus fault then his daughter breaks his phone? What do you think should they do now, send a new one on warranty?
Let it repair or buy a new one but don't blame oneplus for the mistakes of yourself and your daughter.

Well, as far as I understand it's not possible to get it repaired at all, if it's not covered under warranty, which is pretty lame, actually.

Do you even read what he said or you talk off your arses? He cannot find any replacement items anywhere. Buy a whatever other brand device, you will easoly find replacement parts. Oneplus doesn't sell any because they want to force you to buy the extra accidental warranty. He doesn't expect OP to pay for the damage that he caused.

Someone on the OnePlus forums smashed their OP3 as well. OnePlus quoted them around €90 to get it repaired which is extremely reasonable.

Yes my rude friend, unlike you I am able to read and understand also. So read post 1 and 2 and 3 again and then try to understand what you have read.
1.Why should he open a PayPal conflict? He paid and got his device. That's it.
2.Why should One+ sell parts to private persons? There is always the option to send the device to one of their repair center.
3.OP wrote that there are oem parts available on eBay but he don't want to buy one of them.

Can u please tell me where I said he should get a new device if he breaks it, or even get it repaired for free? I am really curious about that. All I said is, that I as far as I understood, there was no way to get it repaired at all.
On a different note: As it was mentioned afterwards, it's apperently possible to get it repaired after all by oneplus. (for a reasonable price). So that's fine with me.

I guess there is a reason they offer 2 year coverage for $80 USD when you check out.

Thread cleaned:
Please do not post ways to fraud companies. This is not only wrong but its not allowed to be posted here.

You guys misunderstood the whole story.I want my phone fixed and I want to pay for the new screen that my daughter broke. I want OEM screen, not some aftermarket garbage from china(ebay). When i send out my phone on repair I know the warranty will not apply. This is why i send my phone to them to get an estimate whatever and to approve repair whatever the cost is. But i just got the phone back with the letter from them..bla bla bla. They never offer repair and an estimate for repair.

man that's unlucky, this is why i paid ~100 usd for 2 year accidental coverage (long wait and must send damaged one back) but worth it

If your phone is still under warranty, you can send it back for warranty. Or you can choose to do it yourself. This is not difficult. This is a Oneplus 3 screen replacement video. You can learn to replace your Oneplus 3 screen with the video.

Broken screen due to fall is not covered in warranty unless you have taken the extra accidental repair option and paid for it.
That apart, the OP was asking for places to purchase the original screen, not how to change the screen.

Cracked my screen, no warranty...how much will it cost?

I managed to crack my tablet already . It's just the glass, the tablet works fine and the screen looks and works normally underneath. If I call samsung how much will it cost? Is it possible for me to fix it myself, or is everything fused together?

Sorry to hear that. This is just my opinion but because this tablet is newly released I doubt you will find much on the internet on how to replace the screen on your own, I think you will also struggle to find the parts. Calling samsung would probably be your best bet if you want it fixed now or if you can wait a couple of months I'm sure there will be videos online about how to do it. Hopefully it works out for you mate.

I should have made my point clearer, apologies, I meant that they should give you contact details of samsung aprroved technicians in the area but yes he would have to pay for the service.
Thanks for the replies...I called up Samsung and they said to send it and they'd fix it for 200$..ouch. I'm not sure if that's worth it or not. I'm considering taking it to a third party computer repair shop or just dealing with it until the parts become widely available. It works fine, it's just ugly XD. This all depends on if the price was reasonable. Is 200$ reasonable to replace the glass? If it is I'll just ship it off to Samsung now

I think $200 is way too much - I know this is easy for me to say but if I were you I'd wait a while, to put it into perspective the OLD note 10.1 Digitizer costs just $20 and maybe a few tools will cost you no more than $10.
Honestly I'd wait and see if its really difficult or not and then attempt it yourself if you think your capable to do it. I bet there will be videos online of people taking the 10.1 2014 edition screen apart soon but then again if you mess it up you've wasted a $500 device. Also call a few local electronic shops once the Digitizer becomes available on ebay surely they will charge a lot less for labour.
Like I said its easy for me to say all this but obviously you know whats best. Best of luck mate I really do hope it works out.
I purchased it with a prepaid debit card so no purchase protection. I think I'll just take Geordie Affy's advice and wait it out. 200 bucks is a pretty significant amount of money for me. The wait will punish me enough so I'll know to be super careful with expensive new items in the future lol.

I would sell it on ebay for $75 less than what you paid for it.
You may get a bite.
Then chalk up the loss as experience.
Curious to know how much force did it take or what happened that made it crack.

Search online for SquareTrade discounts. I got 30% off mine for the GN 2014. If you are within 30 days of your purchase, you can still purchase a warranty, and claim it down the road at some point. That's kind of in the "Grey Zone", but may be your best bet until the parts are easily available.

If I were you, I would get the SquareTrade warranty. There is no way that they would know about any conversations that you had with Samsung. Plus, even after you get this issue taken care of, it will still benefit you to have the warranty to tackle any future problems. They are pretty easy to deal with in my experience.

I'm just worried that since samsung sent me an email to send the tablet to them and everything, they have it on record that I called it in. Then when squaretrade calls them...Still though, I guess I can get the insurance and even if they don't fix it, it'll be useful to have for any future issues. I'm pretty clumsy

SquareTrade doesn't care if you ROOT your device. I spoke with one of their service reps, and asked that specifically before I purchased the warranty.

My tab pro s cracked too, and I have no idea how. Is this screen particularly fragile? Mine shows pitting on the keyboard at the same place where the fracture begins. I'm thinking it might have something to do with the magnet that shuts it. Read on Amazon that someone had cracked theirs twice already and the screen was super fragile. ???

Screen repair for Non EU tablet in UK?

My tablet screen is absolutely shattered and Intercity samsung repair centre can't repair it as it's non eu, any recommendations?
Can't? WTF? Hardware for the screen does not change between countries. You should pay for it tho since warranty will not be accepted.

Yeah ive just emailed back asking if they thought I wanted it repairing under warranty but I knew it wouldnt be under warranty anyway due to the nature of damage / purchase.
They sent this:
Thank you for sending your device to us for repair.
Our engineers have inspected your device and identified that your device is a non EU product, unfortunately we are unable to repair the device and it will be returned without repair.
Bit odd, cant seem to find anywhere on google that will repair it easily

Ive found 1 single one that possibly looks trust worthy the glass on the tablets are glued heavily to the lcd so makes screen repair difficult on this model so I don't think many are capable of repairing it

I haven't done that myself but a friend of mine changed 2 screens before. I think that glue has a chemical dissolver which you can buy online. just google for lcd adhesive remover or cleaner. and there s uv reactive clear glue to stick new glass.
Any company that would've repaired your screen would've just chnaged the complete display unit. The display unit goes for about 275€, so its not worth it. I would recommend changung the glas yourself or get a friend to help you. You have not much to loose.

Ive never done self repair before on a tablet so wouldnt risk it, from what ive heard self repair on this model ends bad
Official service centers won't repair foreign models to prevent grey imports from countries where their stuff is cheaper.
There are a few specialists who can separate gapless displays from the touchscreen. The latter is available separately, as that and the display come from different manufacturers. After their "marriage" they are treated as a unit, offically.
I think there's a thread in here somewhere, where someone did remove the touchscreen from the display. I'm not sure, but as i remember that involved not heating the touchscreen, but to attach some water proof rim around it, pour some liquid on it and let it there overnight. Strange. Is the liquid supposed to diffuse thru the glass, or was there a thermal effect? It was not liquid gas to freeze fry everything.

I agree that contacting HTC directly is probably the best way to go. Go to their website and use the 'chat' function. I asked about an M9 screen repair about six months ago and they quoted $150, so I'm guessing it would be only a little bit more for the 10.

Good call! Spoke to them via chat.
If anyone's interested, the cost they quoted was £115 excluding shipping and 'diagnostic tools', whatever that is, and takes approx 5 days from receipt of the phone.
Not surprised about the cost, but the turnaround is disappointing.

Oneplus RMA horror story

So, i had my Oneplus 3 not booting so i opened an RMA ticket 26 days ago. After dozens of emails they accepted to have my device repaired. DHL picked up my device and after 3 days it was with Arvato for repair. The motherboard was found faulty and so they performed an in-warranty motherboard replacement. What happened though after that? My device shipped from Greece for repair and Oneplus after repairing it, sent it to the Netherlands to an unknown person there. It's been 2 weeks now since the incident and the only answer i get from Oneplus is that the issue has been escalated and that someone is working on it. What can i do? any similar experiences? It really feels like nothing is done and that my device was lost in the Bermuda triangle with oneplus staying idle...

yep the thing is that other brands like Samsung or Apple, wouldn't keep their customers without a device during that time. They would offer a replacement or something. Oneplus did nothing in that regards, they just stayed idle saying a colleague is working on this. What should a customer do when it comes to that? Buy a new device and incur new costs? That's not proper customer support.

When I sended back my old S3 they said that volume buttons do not fall under warranty, I had to pay €50 to get the phone back.. We all have had good and bad experiences with support from different brands. I don't think it actually matters if you have an. Samsung, Huawei or Oneplus device.
Samsung would leave you stranded, just saying

Probably not, I would first look for a replacement online. See how much parts are there and than call around and get an estimate just for labor. Probably should have a professional do it. It might not be worth fixing. Phone is so cheap. You could probably sell it in eBay possibly.

Usually broken screen voids warranty as a bad device handle...
Good for you... And anyone who bought their device at Amazon, cause if they replace one, they must replace all to avoid customer differential treatment law suits...
