Phone does not stay at fastboot or recovery screen for more than 2 seconds - Xiaomi Redmi 1S

Till now my device was working fine,i changed the phone's theme and left it aside. For checking something I tried unlocking my phone and it suddenly restarted and since then it is restarting again and again I tried everything "The volume down+ Power" and Volume Up+Power for Fastboot and recovery respectively but it doesnt stays at the same screen for more than 2 seconds and restarts every bit and then. I am really helpless.
Any help would be much appreciated.
:crying:
I am also attaching a log file...when I tried using MiFlash in a case when it stayed at the fastboot window for a while..it never finished and all of a sudden after a few minutes it again restarted and the same thing is happening again as I have mentioned above.

Hello. I got the same problem. It is 100% problem of power button but from inside. I mean to say you need to change power button attached to your motherboard.

Well if you assume that you have the same problem which i am telling you than it will only take 100 or 150 rupees to replace the button with any good mobile repairing shop. Don't trust if any mobile shop person tell you that they will place the original new button and ask for 400 or 500 rupees. Xiaomi do'n't give their spare parts to anyone. Also don't go to the authorized service center. Because if you don't have warranty than they will take Rs. 280 as inspection charges first. Than they will take other repairing charges depending on servicing of your phone.

I haven't changed it yet. I will try to. The component you have to buy is the volume-power button and it costs around 1-2 dollars. I found it from china in aliexpress.

I had the same problem.
Got the power button replaced internally (something called microswitch) for Rs. 150.
Phone started working normally.
Best part, all phone data was intact.
Thank you so much for your comment.

[Q] Disable the Power Button

Ok, so I got stuck in the dreaded stuck power boot loop. After mashing the button for a bazillion times, blowing on it, spraying it, hitting it with various objects, it worked! And so far it has been working. But I don't want anything like that to happen again, where it will just shut off on its own due to its own crappieness.
Can you disable the power button, so that the only way to turn off the phone is by using power tools or some other widget?
I want nothing to ever happen when I press it, or when it decides to magically make contact with the inside of my phone.
I can't get inside the phone to deattach the connectors, because here is me -----> (O.O) here is my screwdriver ------> [=====+ and here is the screwdriver tip when I tried to open the phone ------> *snap*
So I now have a screwdriver tip stuck in one of the screws, and I am locked out of its innards, which may be a good thing
Any way to modify the code to disable the power button?
Please help! My phone went bananas again and after shaking it around I got it working again. This is an urgent matter, I can't use my phone like this.
It sounds like you tried most of the stuff in this thread already:

If nothing there works you may have to send it off for repair.
Ach! Do I have to unroot PA and reset the flash counter if I give it to T-Mobile? My phone is a refurb, it's replacing a broken, really old HTC that no one makes anymore. What a hassle! All for one tiny defect with HUGE consequences! I am still under warranty. I don't know of any good local phone repair shops here in Hawaii, may have to mail it in.
FML, today's my birthday, and I may have to pay for another phone.

Well, at least you are still under warranty. I am not sure what happens when you send it to T-Mobile. Hopefully someone with experience with that can chime in.
Good luck and happy birthday.

Heh, been eyeing the nexus 4, even with its flimsy back. I can always get a case.
Yeah, hopefully it doesn't decide to go bonkers on me again. So far it has not been turning itself off and on or getting itself stuck down, but you never know...I'll see what my options are from here on out.

I can tell u from a friend that works for tmobile service department that when u send it back for repair they most likely won't even turn it on, especially with your issue all they'll do is their it in the refurb pile and send ua new "refurbished" phone so no it won't matter if u leave it rooted, your going to get a different phone back anyway unless u personally bring it to a 3rd party repair place

Phone shutting down itself

Hello,
I had been having great time with my Zenfone 2 ZE550ML but then suddenly a severe problem started. It started shutting down and switching on itself. Once the problem starts, it goes on for long. When the phone switches off itself while I am using it or its sitting idle in my pocket, and I hold power button to switch it back one, it shuts down again at asus logo. Only way I can make it work is my connecting the charger, and that too only for reaching the home screen where I also get prompted for the menu which you get when you are holding power button (the Power Off, Airplane Mode, etc). I removed the back plate to check the power button and its still tacky and intact, no signs of it being pressed. I don't know what is causing this problem. The power button menu (The power off, airplane mode menu which you get on holding the power button) keeps appearing at random times. Sometimes, it won't relax and go completely mad.
I have tried :
1) Wiping cache partition
2) Doing a factory reset.
3) Using phone in safe mode (problem still exists).
Will try downgrading to 2.18 firmware tomorrow and will let you know. So, for now, let me know if any of you have any solution for this problem. That would be appreciated. Need more info? Ask me
Recently : The phone had been fine for a few days and the shut down problem has started again.
My firmware version : 2.19.40.23 (it's the latest)
Thanks
I had random shutdowns and reboots as well (with the 551), albeit not as advanced as the issues you have, but they all went away after flashing SuperZen (I realize this isn't really an option for your phone).
But then again, because of how advanced it is (turning on by itself), it sounds like a hardware issue (like the power button - in spite of it looking okay).
This sounds like it may be a hardware related issue. If the problem still exists after downgrading, it may require sending in for warranty service. If you are within the USA or Canada and would like RMA assistance please feel free to contact me direct at [email protected]
Sincerely,
ASUS_USA
I am getting occasional shutdowns when playing from Spotify over bluetooth when connected to my car (AUDI) and bluetooth receiver at the same time.
Flashing CM12.1 also didn't help...

What kind of shut downs did you have on your phone before flashing SuperZen? Was it on firmware version 2.19? Also, I think I forgot to mention, my phone sometimes switches down itself while at the ASUS logo (in search of incredible subline). I really don't know what to do until I downgrade the system version. Will let you know.

I want the pictures so that I can see if my piece is defectrd. Can't send mine as I don't have a secondary phone/camera with me atm.

Don't know what you mean regarding kind of shutdowns - sometimes I would come back to my phone, and (early on) it would be completely off - I turn it on, and there's plenty of battery life left. Later on, I would pull the phone out of my pocket, and the external storage mounted message would be waiting for me (theat, and once I actually felt the phone vibrate in my pocket only to mind that message later on).
Lack of logs (e.g last_kmsg) left me high and dry as to what the issue was. By the way, I was on 2.19.40.20 at the time (with BL unlocked earlier that week).

Hello, thanks for reply and images. My buttons look exactly the same apart from the first image. The cloth like thing on my power button is not flat like yours. I fixed it and the problem still prevails.
Anyway, I am now in process of downgrading the firmware. Will update ASAP.

Very possible that even though the power button looks okay, it could still be malfunctioning. And since there is no easy way to check the leads to it on the mainboard, seems as though you are down to two choices (and you cannot do both since the latter will void any warranty left):
Get it serviced (as in, send it away for such)
Do the tear-down yourself (and all the risks that come with it)
I will go to a service center next week.

Okay guys, its been a while now. My phone got fixed itself after the previous post by ASUS_USA. It got fixed itself so I decided not to take it to service center for now. But now, it again started the problem. Much worse this time. Phone got shut down with it reached 90% (happened twice). 90% exactly while charging. Today it got shut down again at 90% while charging, I tried to boot it up but it won't boot up at all . I shows asus logo at random times and goes off by itself. Taking it to service center now
I think I should've listened to my friend about not getting an ASUS phone in the first place

Guys at service center said that my phone's motherboard is defective so I sent it away for 5-6 days. But my question is, how is this even possible? The phone had been working fine for the first month. Are there any chances that motherboard will get defective once again after repair?

Hi, Ashish here.
I'm experiencing similar issues with my ZenFone 2 Laser. Can you tell why it's happening? Did u got your phone serviced?
Hello.
My phone is also having this problem. I was on Lineage, did factory reset, got back to stock but none of these worked.
Now my phone only works when pluged to the charger. If I disconect to the charger it only lasts about 5 minutes.
I will try to take my phone to Asus service this week, but please inform about yours as well.

Dropped Z5P, now unresponsive - help??

I'm completely bamboozled, and no technical expert when it comes to in-depth diagnosis - so bear with me here.
On Saturday evening, I dropped my Premium onto my sofa, not realising the TV remote was there - and it sounded like the 2 connected with some force. Since then it wont turn on, it wont charge, and it isn't recognised by my PC when I connect it. I took it to a local repair shop, who held onto it during today, who returned it hours later confirming that their tech had checked all the internal connections/screen etc, and they couldn't determine what was wrong with it.
I should note at this point that I'm aware that third-party repairs void warranties - however O2 informed me that as it was accidental damage and not a manufaturing fault, my warranty was void anyway. I also didn't take out insurance, as at the time finances were tight, and I'd had insurance on my 2 previous handsets (Z, and Z Ultra) and not claimed. Typical.
So i'm at a complete loss - I don't know what to do, and what makes this worse is that I haven't even had it 6 months, so I'm paying for a device I can't use. And I'm locked into a 24 month contract - double ouch.
XDA - if anyone can help me in any way whatsoever, I'd be so grateful.

Damn straight, got nothing here
Tried holding power and volume down for awhile to see if you can soft reset it? Also, I believe there is a hard reset button in the sim card bay as a last resort. Shouldn't be rendered useless after a light drop.
Try open up the flap where the sim card is in. There's a button in there. Try holding it down for 10 to 30 seconds.

Thanks all - tried all those suggestions before I had it looked at unfortunately. I've even tried the 2-minute hold-down of the button under the flap, to no avail

Hi,
for the z5p, try holding down power and vol+ in that order, the phone shoud vibrate 3 times, after that [if that worked] then let go of both buttons,
wait for the LED indicator to light up yellow/orange and press vol+ and that will get you to recovery
alternately try getting into fastboot, by doing the above but with the device plugged in to usb port on pc and keep the vol+ button pressed.
when the LED is blue, you're in fastboot
and from there ou can try running fastboot reboot
good luck

No joy I'm afraid
I've tried:
Power+VolUp
USB
USB+VolUp
USB+VolDown
Hidden reset button (both short and 2 mins)
Left plugged into a (Sony, not third-party) charger for 3/4 hours
It's completely unresponsive. No notification LED, no "connected" sound from my PC when I plug it in - nothing. The repair shop were convinced it wasn't a screen issue, and that the guy checked every connection and they were all fine. The only physical damage is beside the power button - i've attached a photo to this post.
I wouldn't have thought there'd be any point even sending it to Sony, as its not a manufacturing issue; they'd just send it right back. I've had terrible luck recently, and this is really the icing on the cake - so I'm grateful for any tips, etc
hmm, okay, i want to suggest that the drop knocked your battery loose but that's probably not it,
if you "jammed up" the power button, then you probably need to open the phone up and take a look. , most buttons are a combination of the bendy plastic stuff with an itty-bitty button beneath them, BUT this could also be, maybe, related to the fact of the fingerprint sensor in the power button ?
again, with button being jammed up, maybe something is touching/not touching where it should/shouldn't be ?
these are all the things i could think of. Hope it helps. I just got one of these, they definitely need a hard case.
You should see the bend test on youtube , xD
Good Luck :good:

Hmm, I can't try taking it apart as I don't have the tools (definately an option to try, though) - however, surely if it was just an issue of the power button not "touching" where it should, it would charge/be detected by a PC when connected? At least the notification light would illuminate..
That bend test is crazy, made me cringe
try hold volume down and then plug it into a computer. It should turn it into download mode which should have the LED be blue iirc. That's to see if it is actually unresponsive and dead. If that works you can try and flashing the stock firmware and see if that fixes the problem. If it doesn't then if there isn't any real damage it may be covered by warranty since they wouldn't know how it happened

This item will be shipped from USA, so I may take 15-20 days to reach you, you can apply any coupons if you have to further lower down the price... also note that this motherboard is of Asus K01A, if you use this motherboard you will loose calling feature because this motherboard lacks calling support...

Thank you very much.

Power Button stays sometime pressed in?!

Der Members,
i'm using my PixelXL 32 for about 1,5 Weeks now.
This Night i woke up and wanted to take a Look at the Phone Clock. I could not, because the Power Button was somehow pressed in already? I mean dafuq?! I unlocked it via Finger (Im)Print, turned on the Room Light and so i took a Look at the Power Button. And i could not press it. It was pressed already. I troed to Grab it with my nails and after 5mins i got it Out and could press it again. Happened a couple of Times now. It didn't Fall on the ground. Always Safe and secure.
What could it be? Warranty?
Thank you

I'd definitely get it replaced under warranty, it's something that's probably going to get worse over time.
RMA it.

I got a Problem. Phone is bought at Telekom.de , the official German Shop for Pixel(XL) beside the Google Store. Asked today a Google Support for Warranty. He first said, that they will gonna Change the device. After He coudn't find me at the System is said that it is from Telekom. Then He said i have to Fall Telekom for Warranty Issues. Did that. After a i told everything to Level 1 Supporter, she said that she had to ask a Phone Engineer for my Button Problem, He said to her that this dies Not falls under Warranty. That's impossible. So unfair. What now
