Is there any way to flash back to KitKat without Odin? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

I'm using a lollipop ROM ATM, and its just not my cup of tea. Want to flash back to KitKat, but just don't wanna go through all the steps of Odin. Is there an alternative way of doing this?

This is a TWRP flashable zip of 4.4. This is one of many non Odin ways back to kit kat.
I hope that helps!

Appreciate it man. Ended up flashing back to stock with odin, but could only find the 4.4.2 file. Ah well. But hey, your ROM is still a beast. I'm just a kitkat man lol.
Honestly, of every lollipop ROM i've tried, yours is definitely the smoothest and lightest I've used. If I ever have the itch to try lollipop again, flashing yours, my man.

There is no way to flash KK 4.4.2 with Odin because the phone never had a stock KK ROM released by Samsung. The latest was JB 4.3 as per sammobile.com.

What??? Before I ever rooted m phone, I was on 4.2.2. You sure you know what you're talking about?
In fact, 4.4.2 was the easiest stock firmware to find, and download. I found the 4.4.4 firmware, but the downloads were just a pain, because i had to sign up to sammobile, and it wouldn't ever download.

[Q] Rooting CLI5

I just upgraded from a samsung captivate to to the i747. I am familiar with the rooting process and flashing roms. However with this device I noticed I have CLI5 installed on it. I can find very little about this build. Can I root this with the standard methods? Or is this one I will have to wait on for a while. This is an AT&T phone.

I may have to try it, I'm afraid of borking my new phone, since this is a new enough release, know body has any info on if any current methods work. lol
You can flash CWM with ODIN and then flash SuperSU or Superuser. It will increase your download count but that can be fixed with Triangle Away from Chainfire.

The process does not install a kernel and when it is done, you'll be left with stock recovery with root.
You can flash cmw through odin and then SuperSU. It work for me.

Unlikely to happen right now. If it's something you need I'd stick to the T-Mobile roms for now. They are discussing how to do it kinda in the dev section for devs here. That section is for dev related comments/discussion only so I wouldn't recommend posting there. Still a good read, and you can follow their progress.

Update from official (but rooted) 4.2.2 to official 4.4.2?

I tried searching with no success, so anywho...
I want to update someone's GS4 (4.2.2, stock T-Mobile/Samsung ROM) to the official 4.4.2 one, but obviously can't do that since the phone was rooted with CF-Auto-Root:

I was told that updating via Kies should work fine without losing any data. Is this true? I don't care about rooting afterwards. I actually just unrooted via SuperSU's full unroot option, but that still results in the same message as in the screenshot above.
You need to Odin the stock 4.2 image or 4.3 image. Then you will be able to accept the update.
You could also just Odin the stock 4.4 image.

So this (Odin) should basically just manually install the update without losing anything? I didn't do hardly anything while rooted so hopefully that won't cause any problems.

After messing with this rom a bit and checking the MIUI forums. Whatsapp doesn't work. This rom is based on Slimkat and it's 4.4.2. You don't really need to install any other files other then the rom itself. I checked the updater script and it had something about N900T on it. Oh and the in latest version, SD card doesn't seem to work.

You just need to update your modem of OK3... There are tutorials on XDA to flash just modem...

Take nandroid backup, Revert to stock, unroot, Carrier will send you the updates which will update your modem, put back your nandroid backup (bit of time consuming process)

Think of it this way..alphabetically N, then O, so O is more recent than N. It's usually best to have most recent bootloader/modem on your phone to give any ROM you flash the best shot to work well on your phone.
