I just upgraded from a samsung captivate to to the i747. I am familiar with the rooting process and flashing roms. However with this device I noticed I have CLI5 installed on it. I can find very little about this build. Can I root this with the standard methods? Or is this one I will have to wait on for a while. This is an AT&T phone.

I may have to try it, I'm afraid of borking my new phone, since this is a new enough release, know body has any info on if any current methods work. lol
You can flash CWM with ODIN and then flash SuperSU or Superuser. It will increase your download count but that can be fixed with Triangle Away from Chainfire.

So this method should work with with auto root? Will this replace the kernal or just give me CWM with root access?

The process does not install a kernel and when it is done, you'll be left with stock recovery with root.
You can flash cmw through odin and then SuperSU. It work for me.

This sounds like what I want, I don't plan on flashing different roms, well not at this time anyway.

So after a long wait and a lot of people asking about it. Here is the full 6.01.605.05 Verizon Wireless OTA. Packaged with the new kernel. The only thing that has been done to it is it is rooted, busybox installed and init.d support enabled. This ROM is still odexed and I've uploaded 2 versions.
1 is full stock with all the apps as if you just got it (with the exception of SU being added.
The other has most of the VZW apps removed.
Feel free to use this ROM as you wish. Use it as a base or whatever. There may be add-ons at some point but I'm not promising them

Update won't finish on cwm, has to be stock 3e recovery. You can keep root by dl'ing voodoo ota root keeper and using it. Check about phone, see which version of software you have.

If you have CALEM then it's probably trying to upgrade you to CALG1, which is the update that removes universal search. If you're already on CALG1 it's something new...otherwise it's a few weeks old.

I would flash the stock rooted version of lg1, find herehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426 .
Also in that post is the apk got the universal search that the update strips out.

Flashing the root-injected LG1 through Odin as mrhaley30705 suggested will preserve all your apps and settings. If you're worried, do a nandroid first on to your external SD card (or pull it to your computer) before you flash, just in case. But you won't lost your apps and settings because it leaves /data untouched.

Hi,
yesterday i was updating mi epic touch 4g, i did it first with odin and it worked fine from 4.0.2 to 4.1.2 , then I did installed Kies and it updated fine to a Official ROM and updated te baseband and the rom (or something like thaht )
Odin was working fine and kies too
today I was traying to install a custom rom founded in this link
I followed each step
when i was doing the "click the PDA button and browse for the StockCWM-EL26.tar.md5 file." odin did it fine but when my cel rebooted the screen said "Galaxy SII i9000" and showed a yellow triangle
i went into download mode and I did install a "FD16 StockRom Rooted" (it allways save me) but now Kies showme the info bellow

Firmware version: PDA16 / PHONE:B27 / CSC16
Odin and Kies can't connect the phone any more
any one can help me?
(sorry for my english, I'm just learning)
thanks in advance.
Your phone rebooted to the yellow triangle because you flashed using pc odin and fllashed el26 over a jb rom. The el26 is used to flash from recovery. Not sure why your phone said i9100, but you may have dodged a bullet there. If your phone is the epic 4g touch(sph-d710), then make sure any kernel you flash is sph-d710 as well. From the sound of it, you may still have cwm. Have you tried booting into recovery? Power button+ volume up? If you flashed el26 and nothing successfully since, try that. Once you get into there, wipe data, cache, dalvik, and flash your ROM. PA requires an ics modem as well, so if you updated your baseband to jb, you'll have to flash an ics modem as well. Good luck!
Edit: sorry I may have misunderstood. If you flashed a rooted FD16, it won't let you update via Kies. Your have to unroot. But you don't need to update. Just use mobile odin to flash el26, reboot into recovery, wipe everything, and flash Paranoid Android and an ics modem.

So I have one more question, should I downgrade from my 4.3 ROM to stock 4.1.1 or something before using the toolkit?
