Is there any custom ROMs or tweaks out that can change the functions of the alert slider?
I would love to have one for silent, vibrate, and ring. I am not really a huge fan of the priority and silent options that are available now.
If there isnt anything out now, I think it would be awesome to see someone come out with a lot of customizable options for the alert slider or maybe even the recent and back buttons if possible.
Also, was there any customization on the Oneplus 2 alert slider?
As far as your first question, you may want to specify your device. The alert slider on the OnePlus 2 should have minor customization from Oxygen OS. But as far as I know its only to the point of what each profile does. I haven't heard of any modules or other ROMs that give you the option to change what they do.

I posted in the OnePlus 3 Q&A so I figured everyone would know. I made a reference to the OnePlus 2 to see if anyone knew about any changes with the alert slider to see if there was a possibility to do the same to the OnePlus 3.

OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X has an xposed module called Alert Slider where you can set the slider to silent, vibrate and ring.
But this is not working for OnePlus 3.

Very interessting discussion.
I for myself dont really use that slider. For the same reason the OP was talking about. I just use silent everything for the night, vibrate during work, tone for the rest, thats all. That would be perfect for the slider options.
Thanks for bringing this up

Exactly same setting is required in my case. Silent at night with no ring and vibration just alaram, Vibrate at work with no ring for calls, Tone for rest all calls and sounds.

I think it would be a great addition to OxygenOS. I just don't see many people really using the existing features that are in there now. I think it would see much more use if it had ring, vibrate, and silent functions.
Actually this works perfectly for me: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...h-between-ring-vibrate-vibrate-silent.451867/
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nqk.vibratemodeextended
This app works for OnePlus 2 and I hope it would work on OnePlus 3 in a next update.
Edit. It should work with OnePlus 3 as well but at the moment there are some bugs in all OOS3 versions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/themes-apps/app-vibratemode-alert-slider-t3223166/page4
I was running either bliss or vanilla unicorn and it had slider settings you were able to tweak built in.

Hey guys,
Just a quick question here : Is there any mod/tools to allow more customization for the alert slider ?
I'd like to setup it like "Sound / Vibrate / Silent", or, at least, to change the orders of the actual states (Silent when at the bottom, sound when at the top).
I had a few case where the phone switched to silent when it slide it in my pocket... A bit annoying :/
Thanks !

Hello everyone,
More and more Roms getting Dash Charge support because the drivers are released but what about slider support? I liked RR, CM, Bliss on my previous phones but I don't like having hardware which is not working.
So on which custom Roms is the slider feature working?
Thanks
Alert slider work on RR and Nuclea for sure

Essentially all the recently-updated CM/AOSP-based ROMs. You can literally pick a random ROM on XDA for the OnePlus 3 and not have to worry about the Alert Slider working.
Couple things to know about the Alert Slider on custom ROMs: with the exception of Paranoid Android, you can turn off "Do not disturb" mode through the quick settings or volume controls, even when the switch is all the way up. I find this behavior strange but understandable since this switch isn't found on Nexus devices (Google didn't code the OS for Alert Slider). To re-enable the effects of Alert Slider, slide the switch down and up again.
Also, I find this pretty annoying: when you move the switch, you don't get a banner in the center of the screen like Oxygen OS - just a weak vibration feedback and a new statusbar icon on top. I find the banner useful since the vibration motor is weak and the icon on the status bar is small. I take my OnePlus 3 out in bright sunlight everyday and being able to see what mode it's on easily is a somewhat big deal for me. I don't want to accidently put the switch to Total silence (I've done that a few times by mistake), and I don't want to put my phone to my face just to see the statusbar what mode my device is on.
To sum up, the slider works fine on pretty much all ROMs on the OnePlus 3 bar minor quirks, so I installed Paranoid Android and I'm using it as my daily driver ROM. Much better battery life than Oxygen OS, that's for sure.

Thanks for your fast and accurate answer. I don't like the fact that my volume Buttons still would work but I guess I Have to take it for what it is (however I might even be able to make a commit to fix that). Thanks for your answer I can now happy flash a new ROM
Hello,
I'm S7E happy user but I just purchased OP3 for my girlfriend. Can I ask for few things, here?
- Alarm- is any way when home button pressed deactivate alarm in the morning? When she pick up phone in the morning while alarm ring accidentally she touch home button and then unlock the phone. and then takes ages to turn the annoying alarm off.
- Scheduled DO NOT DISTURB- I just cannot believe phones without this function still exist- what to do?
- Change system font- is it missing or I'm blind?
- DPI, any way for changing it without the root? Everything looks like has been made for DISABLE, blind 80y old person. It is JUST MASSIVELY HUGE.
- Nova's Tesla unread count badge is not working for FB messenger
- Pickup call- is any way of swapping annoying swipe to answer for just click icon or similar? When phone or finger cold there is no way of answering incoming call.
- What is the best browser with adblock (needs to be easy to temporary turn it off) and sync with google?
Thank you for all your replies.
- Not that i know off.
- Scheduled Do not disturb is a missing feature, but again we have a notification slider.
- Its missing indeed.
- Nope, but it takes 7 min to Rlroot and u dont void warranty.
- idk
- Not that i know off. Never had a issue with not beeing able to pick a call up in cold weather.
- I personally use chrome with this. With root it works better.

How about systemless root? Anyways u can root and change DPI and then remove root again.
I never done it before and little bit scared. Also I was just reading that OP3 is not dealing very well with changed dpi

I absolutly have no problem with my currently 420 DPI. If you are going to buy it i recommend using Freedom OS. Its basicly OxygenOS with a little bit more features such as: Adblocker, DPI etc.
No need to root you can use adb to change the dpi on the fly
yubrowser from the playstore is really good with built in ad blocking
The other ones like others have said cannot be changed afaik.
NetGuard works via the VPN API and doesn't require root/xposed/unlocked BL and works with any browser

You can't. Home button- fingerprint unlocking your phone, alarm ringing like crazy and you have to go to notifications to turn it off. What a mess in the morning. iPhone alarm just stop when home pressed.
You can get scheduled DND functionality using an app. I use Silence Premium but they have a free version also.
Edit: Note that Google includes scheduled and other nice DND functions in stock Android but OnePlus delete this functionality from OxygenOS even though it is essentially stock Android. They delete it because they are too lazy to think about accommodating it with their hardware slider even though other manufacturers do it, most notably Apple.
Super. Silence premium do the job. Thank you.

Out of curiosity, how does Apple manage potential conflicts between physical alert slider and different software settings?
What setting does take over?

I don't own an iPhone so no idea but Silience Premium on the OnePlus 3 works exactly how I would expect. I.e. the slider always has priority. In the normal position the software can set priority mode on/off but the slider always sets it on if set and sets it off if toggled etc. When the app sets priority on the indicator goes on just like the slider so it is a true system setting thus we know that the stock DND could do it as well. I just don't understand why this simple and obvious behavior wasn't adopted by the OP design team.
Is it possible to make use of the "standard" AOSP volume settings and disable the alert slider? Like being able to set complete silence for the duration of an hour.
It is the one thing that I really don't like about my one plus 3...
thanks ! Sander.
Only if you use custom ROM. In OOS alert slider cannot be disabled.

Will try AOSPA (Nougat) when it comes out (ETA unknown).

Any news on the topic? It thoroughly annoys me.
So, i'm coming from a 6 and not having a notification LED sucks. Do you guys use any app for simulating a LED? If there was a way to put a tiny green blinking circle in the bottom, that would be awsome.
Thanks in advance.

I got my 7T yesterday was wondering the same thing, given that it's been a cornerstone of most every phone I've owned. So I did some searching around and found this, which seems to be working great, and is developed by an XDA member.

There is a thread about it here:

Looks great so far!
Although "Notify Buddy" is a very nice app and works on Oneplus 7T i found out that it has a quiet high battery consumption. There are two other apps, that worked fine for OP 6T:
"Plus Beat"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=vaf.vishal.plusbeat
"Pixel Pulse"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.compass.pixelpulse
They both need a workaround to be usefull on OP 7T:
- notification change to "important"
- enable popup on lockscreen
- disable "stealth mode" in app
Under this circumstandes they work fine!
Have fun with your new Oneplus!

Yup, unsinstalled notify buddy precisely for that, wasting too much battery.

I dont know another way. battery life is okay with plus beat, burn in depends on the frequency and time...
have a nice day!
Plus beat is much more battery friendly than nottify buddy.
There is no way to sey PB notifications to important, at least i don't see it. Android 10 on 7t here. But ir's working good with stealth mode disabled.
Not quite the same.. But I use an app called Glimpse, works perfectly for me, it lights the screen up when a notification comes In, I set mine to light the screen up for 30 seconds, gives me chance to read it unlike the oneplus light up screen setting which lasts for 8 seconds.
you can select apps for notifications.
you can set screen on time and you can set it to repeat alert until checked based on a time setting...
The app is light on background battery usage.
The app is also well supported on the Xda forums...
Couple of tips, turn off the built in oneplus light up screen setting or Glimpse will not work correctly.
Also consider turning off optimisation in the battery settings and locking the app, so that android does not close it down in the background.
The app is free and ad free from the Google store.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-glimpse-notifications-t3090575/amp/
I also use a xiaomi Mi band 4 with my oneplus 7t, I set my phone to silent, use the mii band app to send the watch notifications, via vibration from my selected apps, sooooo much better than the phone beeping loudly, it disturbs nobody, more zen like... Plus the Mi band 4 is low cost, very long battery life, Amoled screen, works wonderfully...
Plus the notification message can be partially seen on the Mi band.
Looks interesting. For now, plus beat does the job, but i would like for it to stop showing notifications after you see them in the status bar.
