BoomSound help - Broken - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Hey All,
I was messing around with V4A and now the BoomSound toggle in settings does not work. After installing V4Android, I decided to uninstall it as it just seemed too complicated and cumbersome. After uninstalling with Titanium backup and rebooting, I found that the boomsound feature no longer does anything when I toggle between theater mode and music mode. The status changes, but the sound stays the same. Is there an apk floating around that I can flash to restore this function?

Schmeggy to the rescue! Looks like you keep bailing me out of crazy situations. I'm currently on the stock rom after taking the 1.8 update. Is there a way to dirty flash over my current setup and keep my data?

yes download one of the stock roms from http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-htc-10/development/ruu-sprint-htc-10-1-24-651-3-t3379257.
Just flash in recovery no wipe.

These are all for the sprint variant though. I'm on the Unlocked US version.

Found the fix - restored stock system.

[Q] Google play store not working

Important info in the story:
Device: Nexus 7 (Rooted)
OS: Cyanogenmod 10.2.0
Overall problem: Google play not working or getting apps on working Google play system.
So let me start from the beginning. I was trying to get an app to work but the app kept saying i need root permission, so i went on SuperSU and i accidentally clicked a button that supposedly gets rid of supersu (no warning whatsoever). so to fix this problem i reboot my device that doesn't work. So i went in twrp and installed supersu. so now another problem arose. When i open Google play it says no connection, even though i can get on chrome and other things. so at this point i'm just concerned. i go home and tried uninstalling Google play and reinstall it. doesn't work. Then i try clearing cache, doesn't work, then data, still doesn't work. after that i try to delete my gmail account to see if that works, does not. so then i try on backing up my device with twrp, then making a whole new restore to get a fresh copy of cyanogenmod. everything works but i have no apps and data. so backup this new cyanogenmod and tried to go back on my old not working save and it wont restore, it says it failed. so i wipe all data so now i don't have an OS and then i solved that and got back rooted and installed cyanogenmod. the i try to just restore data from my old cyanogenmod and it goes through but this time on boot it optimizes apps, done with that, now is stuck in a infinite bootloader. so i restore to my old cyanogenmod and this is where i am now.
The overall question is how to i either fix google play store, or how do i port my apps and data to the working cyanogenmod Google play store?
If you can't follow with my terrible typing skills tell me and ill try to clarify. I just thought starting from the beginning of the problem would help.

Thanks.
My suggestion:
-----BACKUP EVERYTHING-----
Flash the stock factory image and the stock kernel, and go from there. You can easily reinstall a new CM, and reroot if you lost it in the process. WugFresh's N7 toolkit is great for this.
Also - I had problems with TWRP on my nexus. CWM touch works much better, I find.
EDIT: The N7 toolkit will restore everything to factory defaults, and can do backups as well.

^that's the toolkit. Pretty self-explanatory GUI.
So doing this i won't lose any apps and data and ill have to reroot? cause all i care about is not losing apps and data and getting google play to work again with a root.

Sure, what exactly are you having trouble with?
When you first start the app, it will ask for the version and device model. After that, it will ask for your recovery that you're currently running (maybe not in that order), select TWRP in your case. It will then download things, and the program will start up.

You don't have to go to advanced utilities. On the first screen, "backup", then "back to stock"
After that's done and everything works, you can root and flash custom recovery if you lost it.

OP3 + Viper4Android. Anyone get it working?

As title says, anyone get viper4android installed and working with the OP3 and OOS 3.1.3?
I keep getting crashes and system lock ups after flashing Viper4Android 5.4 stock. I soft bricked it once and had to flash stock once when my prior Nandroid Backup failed. So hopefully someone gotten it to work.

I had bootloop by flashing V4A.zip...tried to install V4A.apk along with viper fix.apk and works flawlessly
I'll definitely try it out tomorrow. Done wiping my phone over and over. Did Nandroid backup twice and both restores failed. There's something about the Oxygen OS that is checking and is not backed up. Flashing the stock rom fixes it but loses root.
I did have BusyBox installed when I flashed V4A 5.4 stock and boot looped. I will try the V4A fix. The only thing is that if you flash V4A.zip, it causes the phone to become unstable.
Do I flash the V4A Fix after V4A.zip or boot into rom then apply the apk??

OK, I got viper working just fine. At first I thought it was my SuperSU version, so I downgraded to 2.67 (which did fix my es file explorer root issue). However, the driver would never install. What did work, was my selinux mode. After changing to permissive, viper works perfectly. So this is an issue with the app itself. I'm sure there are other work arounds with enforced mode, but I don't care. Lol. Also, I simply installed the apk directly from vipers page, enabled the driver, reboot, and voila! No flashing anything, or messing with anything other than the selinux mode. And I am on stock oxygenOS

Well in the good old days there was a version from @ibanez7 that was working fine on my Nexus 5...but unfortunately it's outdated...then there is a version from @androidexpert35 http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/mod-xperia-x-premium-walkman-clearaudio-t3373553 but unfortunately for me it never worked on any device...now all the sound mod developers claim that there are Sony Libraries in a lot of mods (particularly based on V4A) but unfortunately i never "heard" again the real clear audio like @ibanez7 version...
I had the same problem. Just install kernel audiutor and put the minimum cpu frequency to 480mhz and also apply the settings on boot.

Are you using standalone v4a or some mod like divine beats/arise. On the latter two, turn off Dolby Atmos app and you won't get crackling. Tested myself
Or you can use ondemand governor instead of interactive. That will also solve the issue.

Which ROM/kernel are you using?
I have tested divine beats 7.5 on stock 3.2.6 and it worked fine on several music players. I don't know about the latest 8.0 though.
Currently I'm using ARISE Deuteronomy but that won't work on stock kernel.
Try dirty flashing your ROM which will remove all sound mods. See if the problem persists. Then flash Divine and test again with only Dolby or only viper app turned on

Go to TWRP. Wipe > advanced wipe > and wipe system, dalvik and cache.
This will remove the ROM, any system apps or previous mods etc. Your apps are in data partition and images videos etc are internal storage partition. Don't wipe them.
Dirty flash ROM and reboot. You will have to go through the setup and fill in data for Google accounts just like after factory reset. However all your apps and data will be there. Check if there is any v4a/Dolby app. Uninstall it.
Reboot to twrp and install SuperSU 2.78. Reboot to system. Go to play store and download busybox. Open the app and install busybox.
Reboot to recovery and flash divine beats.
Reboot to system. You'll have Dolby Atmos and v4a apps. Enable either one of them and you should be fine

[ROM][7.1.2][OFFICIAL] LineageOS for N7105 - Help

OK, I dont want to post in the ROM area.. as far as I remember I am suppose to post here.
So I would like to install 14.1 on my note 2 I317. I did it last night.. not great results, but it was the root thing.
I am not sure the dev thread is updated on the latest way to upgrade the phone.
Anyone help? I flash the rom, then the apps (is the stock still the best option?) and then what do I do about root, because in the last few posts of the dev thread I see something about not flashing.. and flashing.
and then there is the HWC thing? am I doing this>? or no?
James
Also I am coming from way back on a rom called SLIMFAST 4.4 - If I want to carry over apps and data.. what is the best way to do that? or can I really?
James
You will carry the data (music, videos etc.), but app data no.
I don't recommend you to flash HWC as you are beginning with this and it is still test stuff.
Anyway steps:
1. Flash latest version of TWRP.
2. Backup. (In case something goes wrong)
3. Wipe dalvik, cache, system, data.
4. Install LineageOS.
5. Install Google Apps. There aren't 'the best'. It all depends on you which you want to use/how much google stuff you want on your phone.
6. Install magisk for root - http://tiny.cc/latestmagisk
7. Reboot.

Or u can just backup APKs using this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.usage.appbackup
And restore them with just one click using this :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sharon.oneclickinstaller
But if you want data too, Titanium is good
well since the install the first time did not work well I restored the backup I did.. Now tonight I was trying to use the gps, and it is now not working since I restored the backup?
Is it possible something happened there??
When you restore a backup ( I did a complete with everything) I dont have to wipe stuff out first do I?

well, the partitions that is going to be restored are wiped by default before restoring the backup, so there's no need to wipe, it might be a bug in the ROM and you didn't notice it before.
anyway, you can try wiping manually then restore.
btw, your thread name is confusing, it's better not to right in that form......[ROM][7.1.2][OFF..........when it's a normal help thread.
well I am not sure it is a normal help thread.
For 2 years I have been using slimfast 4.4 no issues - and then I decided to try this rom, and it breaks my GPS.
I have restored 3 different backups I had of slimfast 4.4 dating back to January 2015. None of them does the GPS work.
Before I tried the 7.1 upgrade I was locking 22 satellites in about 45 seconds. Now I cannot lock to 1.
Is there an issue with this rom that would break the GPS to the point that no matter what rom is in it wont work?
Or can someone give me a hint on what to try next? I can try and re-do the upgrade via Option58s instructions.

yes it's a normal help thread, your thread name is more like a ROM thread name!, however...
did you try a clean install of the kitkat rom first?
maybe something is making a conflict or whatever I'm not sure..
try a clean install and see if the GPS is fixed.
clean install of 4.4 and no gps. apps that can show if the hardware is there, so it is present and available? but no app gets a lock.. on even 1 satalite.

I'm not sure, last thing to try is Flashing stock ROM, if that didn't help it, then it's a hardware damage.
